IHOP in Delano?! Whaaaaat?! I was super excited to try this place as I like having breakfast here, but the IHOPs in Bakersfield are always busy - Well, at least the times that I go. My 2 stars are mostly based on the service. We were told to wait 5 minutes to get seated even though there were a lot of empty tables. We had an early dinner around 4:00pm to arrive before the dinner crowd and was thrown off by having to wait. Our server, Chris, was good. However, he stopped checking on us after he provided us our bill midway through our meal. We had to hunt him down to ask for a refill and a couple of to-go boxes. The workers did not appear professional. We sat by the kitchen and I observed the workers going in and out. At one point, I saw a waitress flapping her arms and practically hopping into the kitchen. Not long after that, I heard a woman counting down and then cheering when she got to 0. I also saw a few waitresses who were always together that appeared to just be walking around, talking, and giggling and not tending to any customers. While I saw a lot of mishaps, I did see a few workers who were busting their butts, catering to people. Our food was okay. The best thing I ate was the buttermilk pancakes. They were on point; I almost ate it all. I ordered the smokehouse combo with scrambled easy eggs. My eggs were not wet at all and my hash browns looked a bit different. They were not the thin crispy hash browns I am used to. They were thick and fluffy, not a lot of crispy. Overall, it was okay. We recently had breakfast here and we had the best service. Our waitress had about 10 tables or more to attend to and yet she was so attentive to us. She was working hard and I appreciated her for that. We had our 1 year old with us and she immediately got her a high chair. I was craving coffee and iced tea...I can never decide whether I want hot or cold. Gotta have both. So she brought out my tea and gave me the whole pot of coffee! Love when places do that! I had the veggie omelet. It was perfect. My hunny had chicken Alfredo crepes (I think that's what they're called) and it sounds funky but it was delicious! I enjoyed his more than my omelet and veggie omelets are my fave. I had to order pancakes just so I could try all 4 syrups. Love that butter pecan! If you want to call ahead and make an order be aware that they will place you on hold for more than 5 minutes when they're not even busy. After you finally get your order taken they dont even tell you how in how long the order is going to take. And if you make a special request like adding more bacon or sausage to your meal they will completely ignore your request and do what they want to do. Their French toast compared to the ihops French toast in Bakersfield is very dry and not the same flavor as the one in Bakersfield. read more

My son and I are traveling from Bakersfield to Modesto, so we decided to stop in Delano to eat dinner at the IHOP. It was not too busy, but there was only one waitress, working she was the host, bussing tables , waitresses and cashier and she was doing her best and all smiles. As of right now, It's been at least 30 minutes since we've ordered our food. We ordered our food at about 3:42 PM and now it's 4:15 PM. We asked our waitress (Kimberly) to check on our food and now she's avoiding us taking care of to go orders and seating customers. She has yet to tell us what's the situation with our food. This honestly makes no sense. Just let us know what's going on rather than just leaving us in the dark. Will most likely not come back or at least request not to be served by the same server again. We were told that they didn't have any Tartar Sauce so I asked if they the following: mayonnaise, red onion, dill pickles and the waiter said "yes" so I suggested that the cook make some. Sad to say but my experience was terrible, to begin the waitress was slow with our drinks. While waiting for our last meal, she was just standing there talking to other guests, not paying attention nor actually doing her job. Our food came out cold as it had been left to sit there. We also waited about an hour for our food to arrive, our omelette arrived 15 minutes later. Also cold, we spoke with the manager; she insisted we pay nothing. We told her we'll pay for our drinks and go. In the end we were charged for a breakfast sampler (we had touched none of the food) and 4 drinks which came out to thirty dollars. Worst experience I have ever had at IHOP, we are out of town and we stopped to get some breakfast. We got sat down right away and got our drinks. I totally understand most restaurants are under staffed because of COViD but there's no reason why someone should be sitting down and wait for 15 mins while my husband is trying to get the attention of waitress and they walk by and ignore him. Manager looked over at our table and instead of saying something begins taking the order of the table that came in after us. After finally giving up trying to get someone's attention, we decided to get up and pay for our drinks. I wasn't expecting anything for free. I just wanted to pay and leave before I told someone off. My husband started explaining to the girl at the register how we were ready to order and no one stopped by to get our order. No one apologized or seemed sorry which tick me off more. Obviously you don't get the same service every where. If you're ever in Delano save yourself the hassle of being ignore and stop at Jennys Cafe where they care for their customers. We went to IHOP for lunch on opening day, when we arrived they were on a small wait which we expected for grand opening. Believing that a restaurant would be fully staffed with workers, trainers and managers I did not expect to wait 18 minutes to receive our appetizer which the chicken came out raw and cold inside. When we sent it back the manager blew it off saying "cooks are training and must have pushed the wrong timer" really? You could have killed me serving me wrong chicken. Didn't even take it off ticket not that I wanted anything for free. Waited another 30 minutes for our lunch to be delivered and had to ask server for my salad that I ordered with my wrap. Many tables around us complaining of long wait times and cold food. I will wait to go back and try again when they work out all the kinks of opening. read more

I was on the hold for more then 10 minutes. When the person got back on the phone they were talking to other customers. I finally put my order in. When I went to pick up my order they completely got everything wrong. They over charged me and gave me a completely different order. I had ordered strawberry crepes and they couldn't even get that right. I will not be going back. I was visiting my hometown for the weekend and had noticed an IHOP in town. I wanted to try it since I just drove from LA to visit family and have yet to eat breakfast. I normally don't like food chains other than in-n-out, but I was starving. I came here on a busy Sunday with my nephew and niece and waited an hour! The line moved a-bit faster than expected due the amount of people constantly leaving. I've waited in lines several times (close to 2 hours) so it didn't bother me much. If you ever go to the South Bay, check out pancake house in Redondo beach.. or Ci-Ci's in Tarzana, the lines are horrendous but well-worth the wait if you're a breakfast person. Anyways, once we got in, we were greeted by our waitress. She seemed friendly. I don't know why the negative reviews here on yelp, but my experience here was quite pleasant. I got the stuffed french toast and my nephew and niece got the red velvet pancake and waffles. We all enjoyed our food. Even though it was a busy Sunday, our waitress was very attentive and helpful. Went for dinner tonight at IHOP and I order a burger and fries. At first glance the burger looked really good. I took one bite and realized something was off in the taste. I looked at the burger and the hamburger patty was raw inside. It looked like they had seared the outside but the inside was not cooked at all. I took it to one of the staff and then my waitress came to the table. I know it was not her fault and she apologized but then said well the cook is in training. Not an excuse. I cancelled my order and they took it off the bill. They even cooked a new one but I was out of mood for it by then. I never write reviews on Yelp, good or bad. However, my experience here definitely deserves a post. In fact, if I had to describe my experience in one word it'd be misery because that's the mood they brought to our table. We waited over an hour to get our food when all we ordered was one omelette and two orders of chicken strips. When the food finally came out, the omelette was burnt to a crisp which didn't even look appealing to consume. We waited another 20 minutes for the new order to be replaced. Then we asked for napkins and utensils because those were never brought out... waited another 15 minutes for that. Then we asked for ketchup and guess what? Even more time added to the wait. That took about 10 minutes. At this point I was keeping track of time on purpose. My assumption was that they were short staffed but it sure didn't look like it. I always try to give dining staff the benefit of doubt because I used to be a server, so I get it. Definitely not short staffed because everyone was standing around and there were plenty of empty tables along with people getting their food before us when we saw them come after we've already been seated. Only reason I'm giving this place ONE star is because I'm unable to give a 0 star rating. I've never been so disappointed in a dining establishment. I've already told my friends and family to never go here and will continue to spread the word. If you're craving this type of food and are in Delano, try Denny's. The IHOP in Menifee was delightful. When we walked in and were being seated I noticed how clean it was. There host was pleasant and kind, and the waitress very attentive with a nice smile which made is feel good I believe her name was Jenifer, but not sure. They seem to have ironed out the glitches that every new restaurant encounters. We have been here several times and they have consistently provided excellent service. The omelettes and the tres leche pancakes are to die for! Absolutely delicious. The wait time for our food was excellent during our last visit, considering the large group of people we were with.
