One of the local spots that has the best season fries. They used to not have any milkshakes but I guess they brought them back. But they switched to these clear cups now I don't know why but I prefer the old school way in the styrofoam cup. Pretty good burger! Got the #4 combo which had pickles, pastrami, and two patties! I asked for grilled onions instead of the whole raw onion and they happily obliged! I wish there was more pastrami though. You couldn't even see it in my photo below. I was filled up with this one. Service was prompt and the value's worth it. I have been coming to Elmer's since I was a teenager. This was one of the spots to go to for lunch when I was in HS at DHS and a lot has changed from the inside. They've had some upgrades, but inside is a tight squeeze and there's not too many seatings inside and they removed the tables outside. Don't be fooled by the small building, the food is yummy! This place always brings me back to my childhood and will always have a place in my heart... errrr ummmm stomach. Don't laugh at me, but I always get the kids meal cheeseburger because I don't know what kid can finish that meal. They actually give you a lot of food and if I order the regular meals then I'll waste a lot of food. From my understanding, this is a family owned restaurant. They don't take long to make your food and it's always fresh and delicious. I rather eat a burger here then one of those chain restaurants. I'm happy to see that Elmer's is still up and running til this day. If you haven't been, you need to check it out. read more

Elmers has always been one of my favorite burger places in Delano. They have great options and prices, and the people who work here are always nice. I love ordering the baby burger it's a perfect size not to big. When I'm feeling extra hungry I love the bacon cheeseburger, and their tacos are pretty yummy also. My reason for down grading them is mostly because I ordered a 4 piece chicken dinner and the young lady puts in an order for chicken tenders. Elmer's has changed alot since I was a kid,it's still good but not like it was back in the days

I grew up coming to Delano regularly! It's been a while since I've had a pastrami sandwich from here but it was delicious! One thing I want to make everyone aware of is that when you go make sure you call and order ahead! This isn't your typical drive thru window. You cannot place orders at the drive thru window you can only pick food orders up. During lunch they have quite a long line so make sure to anticipate that. We were only quoted a 10 minute wait on the phone and ended up waiting about 15-20 minutes in line to receive our order. Other than the pastrami sandwich we got fries, zucchini fries, and jalapeño poppers. I'm usually a zucchini fry fanatic but my favorite side dish from here was definitely their crinkle cut fries dipped in ranch. The fries were perfectly seasoned and SO crispy. I personally felt like the zucchini had too heavy of a breading which makes it difficult for me to enjoy. The jalapeño poppers were also delicious but nothing special. The pastrami stayed the star of the show. This was a HUGE sandwich and was perfect for 2 people to share. The meat is perfectly seasoned and not overly salty at all. The bread tasted so fresh, perfectly soft, and very buttery. I would definitely come back again and would recommend this place to anyone driving through the town. The location is also pretty awesome because it's pretty close to the freeway and would make a quick stop. read more

Tbh I never give five stars but Mom & Pop burger places like this just get me every time. The prices are not unreasonable, although they did charge me $1 to remove the bun and do a lettuce wrap which is disappointing and also shows poor customer service, which is the only reason I took off a star. To me, a 5-star experience and rating meets both food quality/taste as well as the customer service experience. Anyway, the food was divine, as it often is at these small burger joints. My SO got a western burger and fries which were good (in his opinion). A great stop off after gassing up before the haul up the mountain. Burgers were solid, portions generous and menu varied. One of my party got the pastrami sandwich and raved about it. This place has some memories for me, I've been eating here since a young teen and had some family work here at some points during my high school life. I grew up just north of Delano but spent majority of my time exploring the Delano streets and finding good eats even as a teenager, yup I was born to be a foodie! They have remodeled the joint, I honestly don't know when it happened but the inside is definitely different than I remember, a much cleaner somewhat modern look but still small. But what is most important is that their food quality has not, still the same good ole' burgers and fries (much more...) like I remember. In Bakersfield if you've ever been to Leo's Burgers, Frosty King, Foster Freeze, they have similar characteristics in the type of menu that Elmer's provides. In my opinion, the food tastes better here than Bakersfield, am I biased? No, not at all. They have numerous burgers, sandwiches (pastrami, chicken, etc), shrimp basket dinners, tacos, burritos (deep fried), mozzarella sticks, salads, so much good (fatty food) stuff. And they serve Pepsi, we all know Coke products are not winners like Pepsi, why not accompany your winning meal with a winning soda? Did you laugh? I'm didn't, Pepsi rules! My go to at any of these type of burger joints is a Pastrami Burger, well Elmer's offers it in a double! Yes heart clogging times two but if that makes you feel like you shouldn't do it, then why are you even at Elmer's? You are either all in or down the street at Subway, you make that call. I recently came and ordered this behemoth of a burger, look at my picture of it, patties so succulent, cheese oozing, and pastrami that is super moist, so much goodness bite after bite. The proportions for the pastrami is perfect that each bite is bursting with that good saltiness and the lettuce, tomatoes & pickles are fresh too. Crinkle cut fries with season salt, just the partner for this burger and you may think I'm a weirdo but I take their ranch and their packaged taco sauce and mix them together for a creamy spicy dipping sauce for my fries, you have to try it before you think I'm an absolute weirdo for it. They serve crinkle cut fries, one of the better type of fries in my opinion that go well with a burger other than possibly steak fries, Elmer's also has seasoned them well, never too salty, never bland. I have never also experienced under or overcooked fries here, which is always something I've encountered elsewhere. I also ordered mushrooms that are deep fried in batter, this time around I will have to say they did taste salty, but dip them into that creamy goodness called ranch and the balance returns, but I still have to knock them for it, a dip shouldn't have to bring order back into the food. The customer service has never disappointed even though the cashier changes every now and then, they usually hire high school kids to help provide them opportunities to work and make some money and it is near Delano High School so they can come straight to work after it. The establishment is owned by cousins if I recall correctly and they are usually the main cooks, some have left and started their own businesses but the oldest are still there. They are truly a staple of Delano, ask any Delanoan and one of their favorite spots will be Elmer's Drive-In on Cecil Avenue! read more
