Our ROMEO group of 7 were here today for our first time. We've been to Cracker Barrel, Lizard's Thicket, Original HOP, and somehow we've not been to an IHOP in our last 12 years. We ventured here in hoping to find a decent pancake. We had a wonderful waitress that was prompt and took good care of us. The hostess set up a table for us quickly. I must say I've not stepped foot in an IHOP since 1979 (where I used to have a morning meeting every day with co-workers before starting our work). I was looking forward to getting the old Pig's in a Blanket! To my surprise, it's been taken off the menu!!! How could that be? LOL. The menu was expansive and one of our members has been really wanting to try someplace else other then Lizard's Thicket pancakes since the Cracker Barrel closed. The menu is very large and has pretty much everything you'd want, from Chicken and Waffles, Omelettes, fish, pancakes, French toast. We had several orders from the faves group with eggs, pancakes, bacon or sausage. Everything was cooked perfectly. They have four syrup choices to select from. Sausage links were good and bacon was done just right...not too crisp but not too limp. Coffee was great. Everyone enjoyed the breakfast. Our overall rating was a 9.2 (ROMEO Scale), 4.6 Yelp scale so rounding it to a 5.0. We'll probably come back but our Thursday morning breakfast group already has an establishe table at Lizard's Thicket. read more

Terrible service. We did have a larger group and understand that makes it more difficult but the restaurant had 8 tables in all for 3 servers. Not once did we get a refill.I had to ask for food that was never delivered. I asked the manager about the auto 18% gratuity based on no service other than order taken and food delivered. She said she couldn't change it but just shrugged when I said we never got a refill. If you have a party expect terrible service but nothing for it because there is no incentive to provide good service if they get 18% automatically. I have loved eating at ihop since i was a young girl, but am sad to say my last 2 experiences were disappointing. The service was good, restaurant clean, and staff friendly. The portions are getting smaller but I didn't mind since I'm a small eater, although that meant no leftovers. The reason for only 2 stars is the quality of the food. I ordered hash browns, one of my favorite, and they tasted like something that was scraped off the sidewalk. Completely and absolutely inedible! I asked what they were cooked in and was told it's an artificial butter substitute. Really horrible taste. This is so sad. Does it cost that much to use real butter? read more

We had 8 people and they stated that 18% gratuity would added. They then proceeded to say only one check. Meaning one person had to pay the bill. That is such bullshit crap. Food is well prepared Service was good BUT it needs to be mentioned that at this location the servers do not help each other, zero teamwork, some will stand around while others are trying to tend to all their tables. When I asked someone for assistance with processing my payment because I had been waiting and needed to go she yelled to the waiter (who was clearly busy) "Ian she is saying you're taking too long" and he was, but she was sitting around (classless). Went in for dinner and ordered the T bone with broccoli and mashed potatoes. The steak does not look nothing like it does on the menu and it's only 1/4 inch thick. I ordered it medium and it was cooked well done. I sent it back and the second one came out well done also. I told them just take it off the bill in which they did but they also charged me for the mashed potatoes and broccoli that comes as a side with the meal. I have never been to a restaurant that when they take something off the bill that they charge you for the sides, the whole meal is normally taken off. Hello all. My wife and I just left this iHOP on Two Notch. The food was well prepared. The waitress (Christina?) was pleasant and prompt. My big issue is this restaurant's policy of NO MILITARY/VETERAN DISCOUNTS for patrons who provide security and freedom for our country. The irony was that in addition to the handful of military retirees I saw, the place was filled with newly graduated soldiers and their families from the US Army's Basic Training at Fort Jackson. It was so crowded that it was standing-room only in the waiting area. After we ate, our bill arrived ($35.58 for coffee, pancakes, & eggs). I noticed a suggested gratuity chart printed above the signature block (more on this later). As always, I asked for a military discount. Christina said apologetically that they don't offer one. I said OK and I asked her if the manager was available so I could ask why they didn't offer a military discount. She said the manager (Melody?) was a little busy but would try to stop by my table. I was also given the name of the owner (Sal (?)). He was supposedly on the premises but I never saw him. After we paid our bill, we waited about 15 minutes for the manager. She walked to the front register (where I was standing) to take care of a billing issue. When she finished, she looked directly at me and walked away without saying a word. I left...disappointed to say the least. Yes, business models change over time. But these soldiers and their families are not rich. Neither am I. In 57 years, I've never known any other iHop restaurant that refuses to support the military. And the discount can be used as an advertising/marketing cost (i.e. tax write-off) for the store. We all have a choice of when and where to spend our money. And I choose to go where my patronage is reciprocated. So I won't be returning to this location. BTW: We tipped the waitress $5.00. She deserved more but I couldn't afford it. read more

Saw an add on social media (2/19/2020) advertising a $5.00 breakfast. So it seemed like a good day to enjoy pancakes! Went into the two notch location, unfortunately they are not honoring the $5.00 breakfast. Instead it was $6.49 (this special is good M-F from 7am to 3pm) You get 2 eggs, 2 bacon (or sausage) hashbrowns and 2 pancakes. The food was yummy and satisfying and the service was great! Only gave them 4 stars because of the false advertising, lolol! But I enjoyed the meal and the service. read more

This is not the same IHOP as preCOVID. Many favorite menu items Are no longer available. Things like sausage patties and soup of the day have been removed from the menu. The service was a much less impressive than it has been in the past. I don't think I will return to this particular location anytime soon. read more

We arrived at 915 am at the Columbia, SC IHOP and sat for 20 minutes before any server came to our table and took our order, while other customers, who arrived after us got service right away! They took our order and then 10 minutes later a different server came and retook our order and said they had trouble in the kitchen while all the other customers were served and left before we even received our order! Unreal! The food was excellent and that was the only thing that was good! I'll have to say we won't be going back even though the ambiance was clean and organized. read more

We went here for Mother's Day breakfast takeout. Instead of ordering in advance, we went directly to the restaurant to order our takeout. They had clear signage on the outside for if you had an online or call in order: you were to call the number and they would let you know if your order was ready. When we went inside, they had arrows on the floor to indicate which way traffic should flow. I really appreciated them having the menus tapped to the wall so that we wouldn't have to touch them. The girl at the register was wearing a mask. And although the dining area was closed, I could see staff in the area prepping orders, and they too were wearing masks. After we submitted our order, we went back in the car and waited for them to call our name when the order was ready. As a person who appreciates organization, I can say that I was really impressed at how they have the restaurant set up for COVID-19 social distancing! The food came out fairly quickly. When we got home to eat our food, it was perfectly stacked in layers with the eggs and sausages in its own compartment, and the pancakes in a separate compartment (forgot to take a picture!). The food tasted great! There's something about Ihop pancakes that makes me happy, and I hadn't had them in a while. The hubby had french toast with eggs, sausage, and hashbrowns, and he was a happy camper as well. read more

Great food, great service...what more could you ask for?! My experience here was just as delightful as the first time I went to an IHOP. The staff was very friendly and courteous. Our waitress took our order and was back within minutes with our beverages and ready to take our order. They don't answer the phone & claim the online ordering don't work .Poor customer service , food prepared wrong after asking what I ordered & showing a visible image from my phone of their website . This was my first time eating at IHOP after hearing how popular it is. I like Denny's for some occasions and expected something similar. However the portions were smaller and more fattening with too much cheese all over. My hash browns were almost burnt. This location is continously busy, but for good reason. The surprising thing is that, as busy as they are, they manage tables very well. My expected wait for a table, based on the maxed - out parking lot, was at least 20 minutes; actual wait time was less than 5 minutes. The service was friendly and fast. The coffee was hot and delicious. The food was served hot, fresh and well-presented. This location is clean inside and out. The service at this location was very efficient, and I will definitely return when in Columbia again. I recommend this location. *This location is going to be renovated on February 3rd and will be closed until renovation is complete. It's a nice restaurant, and I have a difficult time seeing why renovation is needed. read more

This location, perhaps, should also be l known as the Inconsistent House of Pancakes. For perspective, I'll disclose that this happens to be my six year-old daughter's preferred breakfast joint, so we go at least bi-weekly on the weekends. In the past, we've gotten great service and enjoyable food. However, within the past 4-5 months, or experiences have become quite inconsistent, to the point that I can no longer recommend this establishment. Should you choose to gamble with the flapjack-associated part of your budget, you might get decent meal, but you're just as likely to be disappointed. Our latest, and likely last, visit was marred by three separate issues: order mistakes, lackluster service, and substandard food quality. The food mistakes both occurred on my spouse's order. She specifically ordered her eggs over-easy, and yet they arrived scrambled. Secondly, she ordered the Strawberry & Banana Cream Pie pancakes. You'll see from the official photo from that item that this should include cream in between the layers of pancakes. Obviously, from the photo of the item reviewed, one can see this cream was missing. These simple errors and omissions have occurred more frequently lately. One would assume that this is solely the issue of kitchen standards, but when it came to the egg error, the server could not be ruled out as the cause, as she, unlike most of her counterparts, did not write down our order when taken. No one is impressed with the grand memory of a server who doesn't need notes if the food comes out wrong! That naturally takes us to the lackluster service. I will say that there are some truly good servers at this location, but our server for the most recent outing (Terrie) bordered on terrieble! She audibly and visibly huffed when we asked for a Specials menu (which usually don't have to be asked for), and left visibly empty cups on the plate whilst trying to pick up dishes that our party was not yet finished. Overall, her demeanor was rushed, brash, unsmiling, and overall disinterested. She also got an attitude when I asked for an itemized receipt when it was time to pay the bill, which always has come with the check in the past. She said she had to fish it out of the trash. Why she wouldn't have included it in the first place is baffling...I needed the pretax total in order to calculate a tip. (On this matter, I actually, for only the second time in my life, ended up tipping nothing...this is not something I'm particularly proud of in retrospect, but the receipt fresh-from-the-trash truly pissed me off). I'll also say that this wasn't just one bad day for the aforementioned server, as this is the third time in recent history that she has been our server, and all encounters have been blasé. Finally, the food quality was quite off from what was advertised during this and some other encounters. Now, I get that when you dine at a somewhat cheap fast-casual joint that what you get will not exactly what is pictured in the enhanced marketing materials. However, the Banana, Peanut Butter & Chocolate Double-Dipped Brioche French Toast that arrived was far from what was ordered. This is best illustrated by my picture. The double-dipped element (the French toast being dipped in a crispy crust) was non-existent (the Brioche, as pictured, was soggy and certainly not coated). Also, with five whole mini-chocolate chips on the item received (two are hiding under the whipped cream in the picture), the chocolate flavor profile in the item was not impactful. Finally, on my child's plate, someone managed to throw her bacon slice onto a puddle of cream cheese icing. While some weird hipster may dig this odd culinary fusion, those of gig with young, picky children out there certainly know she was having none of that! Overall, this establishment was historically able to deliver great service, accurate orders, and decent quality breakfast grub. However, one is just as likely to get poor versions of these key elements as you are to get competent delivery. If you choose to dine here...good luck! read more

Food: Chicken florentino crepe was impressively delicious. Savory, creamy, healthyish with the spinach. Great specials on breakfast meals. Food came out within mins. Environment: Cleaner than most I've seen. Lots of staff. Standard noisy level. Not bad. Conclusion: I'd definitely come here again.
