Chicken and Chicken & Waffles
Matt K.

A fine establishment and very nicely decorated for the holiday. Our server was very helpful and quick for our group of 17. Seems everybody enjoyed their food and I certainly enjoyed my chicken and waffles. Choco chips was a great addition to the waffle as well.

Biscuit & gravy, sausage links, eggs

We were in town and I had a gift card for Ihop, so decided to try out this location. Well, it was not the best experience. The food was served lukewarm, but tasted ok. The gravy was the same as used on country fried steak. The eggs were a bit overcooked. Our server was not good at all. once we received our food, we did not see her again until she brought the bill. The meal came to $14. I gave her a twenty and she had the audacity to ask if I needed change. A 45% tip for mediocre food and bad service? I think not. The "ambiance" is that of any Ihop. I doubt we will go back to this Ihop.

Now I'm ok with bad customer service but Jesus can we at least get a meal that is all the way cooked ??? Also they give sauce out like it comes out their checks. 10/10 would not recommend.

GRITS

Enjoy the food but for some reason can't get GRITS at this IHOP. Every time we go we get one excuse after another, even a manager(Lynn) inform us in Sept that they hadn't had grits in 6 months(LIE). The next week we were informed by a waitress that the district manager had taken grits off the menu because staff did not want to make them. The part about staff not wanting to make them is believable, but they want a good tip! The grits are instant & take approx 1min. 15 sec. to make. This IHOP in Charlestown, West Virginia is the only we have had this problem with. I don't like the potatoes

Have eaten here several time since it's the only IHOP in the area. Staff is unfriendly and not attentive. Food has always been eh.

Its open 24 hrs. Its an IHOP. Food and service are consistently good and it seems well run. Never been unhappy with it.

came here for dinner twice while staying at the Inn for a little getaway. everything was very tasty…read moreand well made. they have unique dishes on the menu which makes for an interesting dining experience. service was excellent too. the tables are in the main house of the Inn which is a really old and quaint building. the decor is so beautiful. our first night our table was in front of a wood burning fireplace which was lit and tended to by our waitress. this place is completely off the beaten path and in the middle of nowhere. if we were ever in the area again, we would definitely stop by. also, the restaurant serves a fantastic breakfast which is only open to guests at the Inn.

We stayed at the Inn for 3 nights, during which time we had 3 breakfasts and 1 dinner here. We agreed they were definitely worth the $30ish tab for 2 they would have been if we weren't guests of the inn. The dinner we had was good, but not amazing. There was only one choice available for the first two courses, and two for the main course. We don't eat pork so we both had scallops for dinner. The first two courses (a gazpacho and shrimp+grits kind of deal) were both good, but it was really the scallops that won us over; they were delicious. The cheese plate for dessert had 1 kind of cheese, and we were disappointed there were no dessert options involving chocolate. Overall, we had a nice meal, but didn't really think it warranted the $250 we spent.

Food was excellent! Except when service wasn't…read more. The server was excellent on the greeting! She was sweet, formidable and charismatic! She took the food order for the kids.... The food came excellent! Thank you to the kitchen!! We placed the order and the tuna steak came out excellent! However the burger was stupid raw!!!! I asked to not get another since our children had eaten their food already and they enjoyed it! Thank you once again to the kitchen!! The evening was beautiful, the restaurant was as quaint as you would expect!! The tuna was cooked PERFECT! Thank you to the kitchen staff!!! I asked for the check and paid it ....(despite the fact that the waiter disappeared for over 15 mins and I had to walk to the bar to ask for it!!) Left a tip and then proceeded to leave the restaurant and head to our car since both kids hadn't slept and it was past 8 pm (when I overheard the following...) Once again the server was kind and charismatic despite ignoring us in an empty restaurant where she had 3 tables when we arrived and two when we left. As we were walking out of the restaurant, the server, had the stones to show my signed check, with a 10% tip, as was warranted after ignoring us, serving me raw food and not coming back for along time.... (Sorry kitchen but the raw burger was on you for this one!) And she, had the gall to brag to another table of patrons, showing the receipt in my wife's face, that were taking away from her money, when she provided poor service!! I wouldn't dream of having her fired, hence the reason I'll never name her. " she might have had a bad day!", BUT I want her to learn a lesson about treating every customer with respect! My wife and kids didn't deserve a poor experience for our first time in your restaurant! Be kind. Be loving and understanding! Everyone can have hardships in life, as we all do, but if you're in this industry, be kind, be watchful and give a care about your job!! You never know the negative impact you can leave for fellow strangers, especially little children that enjoyed Harper's Ferry for the first time! Overall, the restaurant is excellent, food is excellent and the vibe is 8/10!

Drove into Charlestown and thought Irish sounded good…read more Was seated and took more than 20 minutes for someone to take our orders. We almost left before someone not covering that section came and helped us. I got corned beef and cabbage. The cabbage had no flavor and the carrots that came with was mush. The corned beef tasted okay if not a little fatty. We will pass next time.
