This IHOP is located near the IU Bloomington campus. It has the usual IHOP feel and look on the inside of the restaurant though this location has an extra coffee bar. It's usually a pretty busy location but was pretty calm when we went. The waiters were very quick with service. The food was okay. Not bad but not great. I liked that they add hollandaise sauce to their omelettes, something that other diners should pay attention to. It keeps the omelette from going dry and adds nice flavor. I wish I had gotten a side of hash-browns instead of the pancakes, though, which is ironic since pancake is in their name. They seemed to be cooked on a pan that was too hot. The outside was almost crispy and easily broken away from the insides, and they didn't taste great. My son thought the hamburger was okay but, unlike his reaction to most other burgers, didn't want to finish it. Overall the experience was fine, but only a 3/5 star experience. read more

I ordered online it was horrific. The order was for four people. It was not done when we went to pick it up took them 45 minutes, talking to the manager was no help. Then when we got the order 3 meals included pancakes there was no syrup even though we ordered extra. Was short one entire meal. It was so cold people did not want to eat it no place to warm it up at work. It was the most NEGATIVE experience we have had forever. Food to expensive for that kind of service. Reasonable food and perhaps higher prices for simple breakfasts. This is not a Waffle House. Many high-carb, pancreas-pounding selections. If you look, you can get lower-carb breakfasts. The coffee is good and specialty coffee drinks are available. This is a popular location and you might have to wait, although parking is good and there is a small lobby. There is seating for larger groups. The overall experience was good for a franchise breakfast restaurant (with other food, too). I doubt you'd be disappointed, but I wonder if they aid and abet sugar-holics. OK, I guess the word PANCAKE is in the name of the restaurant. read more

I had high hopes going in, but unfortunately, I encountered a lot of resistance when I tried to ask questions or request support. The staff seemed hesitant or unwilling to engage beyond the basics, and it felt like I was being brushed off rather than helped. While the environment was okay and the service eventually got done, the overall attitude made the experience frustrating. I hope they work on being more open and responsive to customer concerns in the future. We Canceled my order and walked out right away. We were heading home after another Lake Monroe camping trip and the granddaughters were starving. We tried to get something fast from McDonalds but of course their lobby was closed and I can't go through a drive thru towing a RV, so their loss. So after looking for restaurants near the College Mall we found a new IHOP a block away. They are located in a shopping center with a big parking lot so plenty of parking room for anyone towing a camper. There was a sign when you walked in that asked for customer patience as they were struggling with staffing but would do the best they could to serve their customers quickly. But we did not notice any customer service issues at all. We were seated immediately. Our server took drink orders right away. We ordered our food when she brought the drinks and I would say it was less than 10 min later that we had our meals. The girls and wife had the Pancake Breakfast which was 2 eggs, sausage or bacon, hash browns and pancakes. I got the Quick 2-Egg Breakfast which was two eggs, bacon or sausage, hash browns, and your choice of bread. The food was hot and absolutely delicious. Our server, Tanille, had the foresight to ask me what kind of jelly I wanted for my toast. Kudos for that! Tanille, came back and checked on us offering to refill drinks. She was friendly and demonstrated unusually good customer service. Tanille deserves a raise!  You just don't find good customer service anywhere so she is definitely to be commended. I think we will make this a regular stop when returning from our camping trips. read more

We went here tonight at 10:30 and we didn't get our food until 11:30. We were seated immediately after entering and we got our beverages fairly quickly. It was a little busy but most people already had their food by the time we ordered. Our waitress checked on us a few times. We finished eating and waited about 15 minutes when we asked for the check the first time, then she went and treated some new costumers and we asked for then check again ( it had been 10 minutes) and to our knowledge we were her only table. She said one minute and forgot sang happy birthday to the new costumers and disappeared for the next 10 minutes. When I'm pretty sure the other waitresses noticed because they were getting checks for their tables that came in after us, which wouldn't have been a big deal except one of the tables was a big group. Our waitress finally appeared and apologized saying that she just got distracted. read more

My husband and two kids and I came here for lunch yesterday at my children's request. The last time I went to IHOP in Texas We had a very negative experience so I was very nervous. However, we were greeted and seated in a booth in a timely manner. The manager came over to help. Our waitress was very friendly and fun with red hair. We only had 50 minutes to eat and she got us in and out in time for our kids pottery class nearby. She was very attentive at keeping our glasses refilled. My husband crushed his brunch burger and I enjoyed my healthy egg, white, veggie omelette. The kids both had whimsical strawberry and chocolate chip cheesecake pancake tacos and seemed to be in culinary heaven. Overall, we had an absolutely five-star experience at this very cute and tiny IHOP. Apparently it's the smallest IHOP in all of Indiana. I can be a bit of a foodie snob and I'll own it. As pandemic numbers are down, it's time to get out and eat a little! I grew up with ihop as a kid, and this is not the same place I remember. Service was definitely an A+. No question about that. The food was fair at best. The menu didn't offer a lot outside of breakfast, and almost all of the meals included larger portions. I wanted a meal of a couple of pancakes and a side, but I did not see anything like that. We finally ordered something that seemed to work. The pancakes were fair, the hashbrowns were good, and the bacon was terribly overcooked. They were done to a super hard crisp. Partner seemed to enjoy her breakfast and coffee. Next time I'm feeling like a Sunday morning breakfast/brunch out, I think Denny's will be a little higher on the list. read more

Last night, Cletus and I, took a trip to IHOP at 1 in the morning. Even though they were severely short staffed, our waitress was fantastic. She took great care of Cletus and I. I ordered the breakfast sampler while Cletus ordered the chicken and waffles with a side of sausage links. Our meal was nice and hot. It was great to eat with a healthy Cletus. Cletus loved his sausage links. He was throwing them down like crazy. Cletus loves himself some sausage. Can't wait for more meals in the future with Cletus. Well done IHOP! I was actually pleasantly surprised with my IHOP visit. This was my first time visiting the Bloomington IHOP. I typically like waiting a month or so after a restaurant opens to dine. That way the restaurant can get their bearings straight, so they are usually less chaotic. The restaurant is a lot smaller than it looks. My back was towards this older couple and they were talking about how they were going to give up IHOP because the past two times they came their service was bad and their food was cold. I ordered the country fried steak breakfast meal. It came with (obviously) the country fried steak, sausage links, bacon, hash browns, two pancakes, and eggs. It was so much food and I think it was around $10 for all of it. My boyfriend just got some pancakes with a side of bacon. The restaurant was completely packed but the food came out very quickly. The food was warm and there was a lot of it. I had to take most of my pancakes and country fried steak home. We were stuffed and it only cost us around $20 before tip. They have four different kinds of syrup on the table: traditional, strawberry, blueberry, butter pecan. I did not like any of them but the traditional syrup. read more

OK, to be clear this is an iHop - so 4 star rating for iHop isn't really the same as a 4-star for a fancy steak place. For what it is, it's great. We went shortly after they opened and they were working some service issues out, including one with our order - but the recovery was perfect, the manager was great and it was handled as well as it can be handled. I had an omelette with pancakes, it was huge. Nicely done for both size and quality. The pancakes were perfect. The others at the table had a variety of standard iHop fare - pancakes, fancy pancakes, eggs, etc. - nobody went with a lunch item this time, so can't speak to that. All of the food was hot, well prepared, and for the size of crowd and the fact that it was maybe the first week they opened, service was fine as well. We will return when we need a variety of menu items and have a desire for iHop style diner food. The only downside was the automatic specialty coffee bar - not sure I'm going to think of that like a coffee shop or starbucks when you just push a button to get a cappuccino or latte, etc. - if I want coffee, it's great. If I want fancy coffee, there are better places. read more

The employees stated how they don't make enough money for a full meal with the latest changes. What an interesting experience. Two stars because the food was not bad and the hostess. The only positive part of dining in this morning was the hostess. She was kind and extremely helpful to everyone attempting to get a table. I noticed her bussing tables, bringing menus to individuals at the bar and giving prompt updates to parties waiting for a table. Though the wait for a table was 20-30 minutes, we opted to put our name on the list and ended up sitting at the bar which is first come first serve. It took a minute for the bartender to come over and when we finally ordered, she forgot to put in one of our orders. By the time my fiancé's food came out, I was already done eating. The bartender claimed she "honestly didn't know what happened". Her apology was not sincere and it would've been appreciated if she was honest instead. We were almost done with our meal and one of us got up to use the restroom. Without asking, the busser came by and put a knife from the plate in one of our drinks as if he was going to take our unfinished plates away. I had to intervene and tell him that we are not finished. The cup of Pepsi with a dirty knife sat there and was not offered to be replaced by the bartender or busser. He was apologetic, but it was odd. This is my second time ever at an iHop and I probably won't be returning. We felt rushed out of the restaurant and would've been better off dining elsewhere. read more

This place is my all time favorite place to go for breakfast. I missed going to IHOP and I was super excited when Bloomington finally got one! The food is always delicious! The service is always great! And yes it's going to be busy the first few months so there most definitely will be a wait and yes it's a new restaurant with new servers so there will be mistakes. And yes it's a smaller IHOP but it has a super cool coffee bar! If you don't like the location don't go! It is what it is, they can't move anywhere else! This restaurant is clean and has great choices of food. They are very serious in here. Almost act like robots. I am assuming that reason is because their managers or owners are probably very strict and they don't want to make mistakes but that definitely not the best environment i would choose to be in. My server Shelby was nice and made sure all my request was fulfilled during the time I was their. Great customer service from her for sure. I had a pancake combo.
