Positives - the hostess was amazing and trying to keep everything together in this post-COVID age of less workforce, supply chain shortage, and on-the-edge interactions. She was outstanding indeed. She gave a great new pot of coffee that was not bitter even though it was late morning. She was even ready to discount the badly made chicken because they didn't have enough time to cook the same because of the delay - it was 15-20 minutes delayed because of many reasons and not entirely the fault of the hostess and our server too. Negatives - There was enough confusion that was resulting in many deficiencies that could be just rectified by effective communication between colleagues and feedback from the customers. The replacement of Texas Toast for Philly steak improved the taste. The removal of beef for poblano omelette was much appreciated. Oil needs to be changed more frequently - the chicken was thawed inadequately and fried in overused oil resulting in very bad aftertaste and rubbery chicken. Fries in old oil have a very bad aftertaste. Crepes were too thick and not leavened enough. Chocolate pancakes were awful because they peeled out and were for the lack a better word, tasteless. The amount of fries provided for one person was different from the other!!! Something is not commonplace. Our family had an emotional connection to this location because of the wonderful experience a few years ago. Here's to hoping for the same to return shortly. I have never in my 16 years of life ever had such terrible customer service and I will never be back here again. Y'all should ashamed of yourselves. On top of the customer service all of the customers that got their food were not happy with their food being cold as ice. We ordered biscuits and gravy for biscuits, or maybe less than a half an inch thick look like hockey pucks with gravy on it. They were not good. I'll take it way better. I ordered orange juice. It was half water when we got the bill. It was 1402. Please tell the lady we wanted to split the bill. She started putting stuff on the cash register and come up with nine dollars apiece, I said no we want to split this bill at $7.01 apiece. She finally got that done. The first thing we encountered was the sweet smell of sewer in the restaurant but we had to smell the whole time we were there this building needs to be torn down and rebuilt been there since 1954 or 56 something like that come on people tear the building down and build a new one. read more

The worst service. We were sat within 5 minutes of walking in but no one greeted us or took our order until I asked a hostess if they could find our server. No one knew who was supposed to take our table so finally a girl from across the room said she would help us and took our drink and food order. 15 minutes later every table around us that was sat after us had drink and some of them food. We still didn't have drinks and then a different server came to take our order a second time. So over 30 minutes sitting at a table and didn't even get drinks so I can't review the food. Very small location. Walked in and it was EXTREME icicles. All of my family had to go out to get jackets. In the first 45 min there 4 families walked out due to no service. 2 ladies there were mad, very unfriendly. Wow what a sad ihop. I truly feel bad for the workers who work here. It is so small and tiny you can barely get by anywhere without bumping into somebody. Their kitchen is very weird because it's completely open. Went in late at night hardly any customers and found myself standing there waiting for a while. Finally after about 10 minutes I was asked what I was there for and I said for a to go order. So I ordered my food and they told me it would be about 20 minutes. Everybody looked so sad working there. Not one smile on anybody's face. So I go back in after about 20 minutes, and I'm literally standing there for what feels like forever for somebody to give me my to go order. The waitress saw me and then finally acknowledged me. I told her I was there to pick up my order, I saw our containers sitting on top of their shelf with no cover on them already getting cold. She asked one of the servers who looked like he was new to pack up our order. He literally took a good five minutes just to pack our stuff up. I got an omelette and some other food items. The omelette was paperthin and over cooked. The service was bad, the interior was bad, and the food was bad. This IHOP has been in Beaumont for a long time. It is smaller than most IHOPs but the service is great. I enjoy it enough that I drive past the other IHOP just to eat here. The service is faster, friendlier, and the food is better. The atmosphere is cozier and relaxed compared to the other where you have to deal with the hustle and bustle of being near the mall. The wait staff is more mature which makes for a better dining experience. I suggest that you give this IHOP a try if you haven't. read more

Great service- a bit of a wait on the weekends the servers do an amazing job getting so many people fed! Just be kind and don't ask for a milkshake or some time consuming order when they are slammed, it's really hard on them. The servers have to hand make the shakes splash berries and so on. This particular location (College St., Beaumont) should be in contention for not only the worst IHOP in America but maybe even the worst restaurant period. This is not so much a knock on the food that the breakfast chain puts out but a condemnation of the performance of this particular location. If this is not the most poorly managed place in the country I'd be shocked. The cleanliness is definitely subpar to say the least. Each time I've been here, I've had that unpleasant sense that I'll probably be sick by the end of the day. Also, if radio stations need contest ideas, make winners the first person that can get through to this place on the phone. You won't be able to. My wife asked me to get her a to-go plate from this awful spot last week. My entire drive home (30min) I attempted to reach this place to no avail. Just to humor myself, I tried for the next hour and a half, off and on, while I cooked and ate a homemade breakfast and still no answer.
