Stopped here for dinner after checking in fairly late at the Hilton across the street. No real issues at all. The staff was friendly and attentive, and the food was served hot and quickly. Salad was served with plenty of time to eat it before dinner, so no problem there. Overall, a standard IHOP experience, and really nothing to complain about on my visit. read more

Sometimes I really wonder who hires the cooks. No matter what you request, you are guaranteed to get the opposite. If you ask for medium well hamburger, you'll get rare. I was really excited to go to this IHOP especially after the renovations to the Ballston location. The hostess and manager was unnecessary rude. Once seated, me and my boyfriend were ignored. Tables that were seated had their drink and food ordered placed, and a server never came over to even take our food and drink order. We kept looking and servers made eye contact and then looked away. We waited 25 minutes (and the location was that busy), and then we left, because no server even approached us yet. Meanwhile five other tables were allowed to place their orders, while servers and the manager ignored us. All I wanted was pancakes and a decent breakfast with my boyfriend, and after 25 minutes of waiting and trying to flag down a server we left. When we went passed the hostess stand the manager still ignored us. I will never return to an IHOP again, I never have had such poor service in a restaurant. I like to stroll over after a late night of homework and/or studying on weekends. Either find a few drunks to laugh at, some eyecandy stopping through after the club, or a combo of both. Luckily I live nearby because early mornings/club closing hours it can be really packed with a long wait. I have had breakfast here many times. This is a 24/7 IHOP accross the street from the Balston metro. This place is always busy especially on weekend mornings. People usually stand outside as they wait for their names to be annouced on the loudspeaker system. Once inside your breakfast experience is very good with the usual wide range of breakfast selections. This is a classic IHOP with good service and good quality breakfast food. The outdoor parking lot is usually full, which is an inconvenience. Luckily I was able to walk there without parking. read more

what can i say, it's IHOP. not my preferred choice for place to eat; i've only come here after a night out, either right after we get back (~2-3am) or the next morning. super convenient and open 24 hours, so it's perfect for when you're hungry with friends but nothing else is open. during late night there's less customers (obviously) so they're busy cleaning, mopping, etc. which sometimes gives the place that unpleasant dirty water smell. mornings are usually busy but we were seated without having to wait too long. price and menu are standard IHOP fare, terrible for you but so good. they've got a small private lot if you're driving there. late at night there's usually some drunk people hanging out and yelling about nothing, which is amusing to see sometimes. i used to live in the building overlooking the parking lot and the cops visited quite frequently on friday/saturday nights. a-town is right next door so i think that block is quite a hot spot for late night activity. read more

Usually, I like this IHOP especially during the wee hours of the morning. However, this morning between 2:00a-4:00a. This morning they must have new cooks. The food was below average... "Mushy" pancakes, "Old and cold bacon", "Overcooked hash browns"...The only food item edible was the eggs. They were hot and fresh, but the cheese mixed in did not taste great. After notifying the server. I received 15% off the meal. But, I should have went back and let them know I aquired an upset stomach and felt nauseous after I got to work. This is a weird IHOP. It's very small inside so when you sit down, you feel like you're sitting with the people at the table next to you. There's a very small partition between the middle tables. I actually thought we were going to sit at the end of someone else's table when the host sat us. I didn't like that at all. And since space is tight, there's only 1 set of syrups to share between the 2 tables. It took our server a good 10 minutes to greet us. I was actually thinking about leaving since it was taking so long. The food was ok, not great. The IHOP in Ashburn has better service and food. We went on a Sunday morning. My husband and I decided to eat at this location last night. It wasn't our first time, but it will be our last. When we arrived, there was a wait which was no big deal. Especially for the time of day and location. A waitress showed up, late I am guessing, and was told to go home. I'm mentioning this because of how rude and unprofessional the older manager was. To me, that should have been handled out of sight from customers and could have been done in a much more professional way other than screaming at her. Then, when it was finally our turn to be seated, he argued that the other people in the waiting area were before us and that they needed to be seated... They arrived a good 10 minutes after us. Finally THEY spoke up and said my husband and I were first. And last but not least, we were sat next to a mother and son. At one point they'd both gone to the bathroom (the boy was about 6 or 7 years old) and the older manager tried to clear the table 3 times. He finally listened when the mother and son came back. The ONLY thing that saved this trip for us was our waiter David. It seemed like he was the only waiter taking care of the restaurant for a solid half hour. This was our second time having him as our waiter, and we love him. Hes friendly, fast, and funny! If this place wasn't run so poorly, we'd venture back since it's just down the street from us. Alright, so I'm going to speak for myself and my friend in this review. First off, I'm kind of a pushover and so whenever I go out to eat, I always tip, at least a little bit. Well...here goes. The food, yes, several other people have said this, the food's pretty good, I believe that cook is pretty fantastic and can do his cooking right, now the waiters...that s***'s completely different. Let me first get off my chest that there's pretty much one waiter who knows what she's doing, I think it's the Russian one or something. Now the others, and I"m going to warn ALL of you, there is 1 waiter who was a complete b****. She's one of the three I guess Ethiopian (I'm not trying to be racist, I just want to specify as much as I can) waiters that's the middle height out of all of them. Oh God. First off she basically seated us and we were looking at things and she came back after 5 minutes and we were like 'SOrry, we're not done yet.' and so she came back THREE minutes later and we were still looking (we haven't been there in forever and we're on a budget too so we had to do the math and all that jazz) and so she was like 'well can you hurry up? I'm trying to go home early' or some crap like that and then I was like, 'Fine.' and then I ordered. My friend ordered too. She brought it out and we looked at our silverware and noticed that it was dirty as hell. There were stains all over our knives and so we had to use the water we got to clean it ourselves. We then ran out of napkins drying them and asked for more. The napkins she gave to my friend had some sort of meat stain on it and that's when we thought it was some terrible preparation or service or w.e. We ate and stuff for about 30 minutes and NOT ONCE did she COME to ask us how we were doing or anything and neglected to fill our water. ONLY when I asked her to do it did she do it, to ME, NOT my friend and his glass only had 1/4 water left. At the end she gave us our checks or bills or w.e. and then I paid for mine, and gave her a tip to make the payment an even number, my FRIEND however, was outraged with the service and gave her no tip at all. When she got the two slips of paper (seperate bills) she walked and looked at it closer and came back to give my friend his bill 'Uh, that doesn't include tip by the way.' And so my friend didn't know what she meant by that, and I said 'She's asking for tip, draw a line across the number you're paying so it's a safe amount.' And so she stood there and my friend just WROTE OVER how much he was paying (which was the cost of the meal but with NO tip.) and so he drew the line and was about to hand it back to her and she SNATCHED it out his hand. ... By then I was pretty pissed too. Seriously, I hope the manager reads this or someone who works there reads this. Idk about the other waiters that the other reviewers reviewed but this particular one, seriously, she needs an attitude check. She's a freaking adult who needs to learn how to WORK as a waitress and the codes that go with 'tipping'. Tipping is NOT mandatory and I URGE EVERYONE who goes to this ihop to NOT tip unless you think they deserve it. Maybe it'll teach them something and maybe they'll improve. Oh yeah, sorry. The food was great. Everyone get the Colorado omelette! Hahaha. Love I hop!!! Great for Pancakes and I ve never been able finish it all by myself. If I am not in a mood for a pancake then my alltime favourite is the chicken crepe with lemon butter sauce. Free flow of coffee is a good idea for an ideal breakfast.... just make sure you go with an empty stomach or a huge appetite. read more

I love the omlettes and the French toasts - perfect for breakfast. Sunday mornings seem to be the most busiest - so in case you turn up here then expect a pretty long wait. Have been here multiple times. Every time I have the complain of servers being very inattentive. Highly poor service even when there is no rush at all. Once my girlfriend and I were waiting for nearly 10 mins - Servers were not noticing at all. Suddenly I overheard another server say, "we have 14". Immediately our wonderful server arrives. Worst IHOP I have ever been to. Small, crowded and freezing inside. Maybe the insulation is bad but it was way too cold to enjoy a meal. Ordered the country omelette and it came out raw, the eggs were so raw you could taste the sliminess and see the yolk dripping in the center. The server sent it back. The SECOND omelette was raw again. Then the manager was talking to another table and I called him over and said I had already had two raw omelettes. He asked me if I wanted it well done. Didn't know eggs had to be ordered well done. Eggs aren't supposed to be raw in an omelette. They bring the 3rd one and it's cooked but the texture just isn't like other IHOP's. My pancakes are cold and there is nothing said, no compensation, nothing. Won't ever come back here. FYI: The parking lot is not that big so if you're coming here during a popular event like free stack of pancakes, then be prepared to wait for someone to leave so you can park for free. It was really busy when I visited - free stack of pancakes. The food was ok but I don't like their seating layout. Someone sat right next to me and he smelled like smoke. Let me start by saying it is IHOP. I've never met anyone who goes to IHOP expecting top quality food. The last time I went to an IHOP was probably 2 AM in college. A lot of alcohol was involved in any trips to IHOP. I went this morning because there are not a lot of brunch/breakfast place places near my hotel. I had a Colorado omelette. The eggs weren't horrible but I pulled the pork or whatever it was supposed to be off the top of my omelette. It looked very dry. The hashbrowns were disgusting!! They had a strange chemical smell. Honestly, IHOP is a great place to go if you want to lose weight. Just take a giant whiff of those hashbrowns and you'll lose your appetite! Honestly, McDonald's would be a considerable upgrade. When I paid my bill it turns out I could've paid the same at my hotel (The Westin). That was just a bad call on my behalf. Looks ok from outside, but once you inside seems very small, dirty, layout is all wrong, and people were not helpful. Prices same as others. Everyone goes in one door including for pickup. What an experience. This waitress lady was so unhelpful and completely oblivious to our needs. Our food came late and when we were trying to order she walked away and proceeded to make comments while we sat less than three feet away. HORRIBLE experience...from a Chef who used the restroom, flushed and didn't bother to wash his hands (even blew his nose--Not kidding). Next up was the 40 minute+ wait, and both my girlfriend & I had the same thing?? After we peeled our elbows off the tables for the 50th time in disgust from whatever was practically growing on the tables, I complained to the manager. All she wanted to do was comp a check. Hello?? I live in Arlington for god's sake...think I can swing a $17 bill Lol...we wanted decent service...and not to fly to France practically to get a crepe. What happened next?? Our car was towed because we walked in, I walked out to take a cell call for 5 minutes or less, and someone assumed (whoever the Hawk is that watches the place) that I was using there beloved lot to go to an actual restaurant. Several years ago (maybe 5) I visited this IHOP and it was not good, the place was dirty and the service blah. But I recently went back there, twice and I had a very good experience. The food is good and they have some lower calorie choices (I even choose them on occasion ;) ) and the service is great. This IHOP has improved since it changed hands. Staff was friendly and the food was good. The neon red strawberry syrup was cool too. One of the syrup handles was drenched though, which meant my hand was drenched thereafter. They should clean syrup containers with each new customer. read more

Let the truth be told, I'm an iHop connoisseur. While this location is small, and can be crowded on weekends, the service has always been top notch and the food is exactly what you expect it to be. They also have a good kids menu. Between Silver Diner, Metro 29 and a few other b-fast spots we frequent, this is always their top choice. read more
