Hopes for a great pizza were ignited after dining here. I debated between 2 and 3 stars, but lean more to 2. The pizza was edible but incredibly disappointing, not meeting expectations. First, when served, the pizza was bigger than the plate it sat on, hanging over the edges of the plate, which is a big miss from the start. They did not serve a separate plate to eat from, so it was awkward eating this mismatched pizza lurching over the undersized plate below. I had no choice but to use my hands folding the flimsy pizza vs. Using a fork and knife. Note that there were no extra napkins offered or provided except the modest sized one one wrapped too tightly around the fork and knive, so it was a messy eating experience. While the crust was partially charred at the edge, it did not add anything to the taste of the excessively thick edges. Crust texture was a failure all around being too doughy and not having the right profile coming out of the oven. The tomato sauce seemed fine, but its flavor was dominated by the thicker doughy crust and the very disappointing cheese. The cheese was heavily applied, and the flavor was rather poor, oddly not tasting fresh, and/or just yucky compared to the flavor from what I would expect from an average similar authentic Italian style pizza cooked in this style. During the duration of eating the 12-inch pizza, the cheese congealed into hard, even nastier tasting, big petrified lumps, reminding me of trying to eat a medicore recooked leftover cheap pizza. The vegetable topping was fresh, but the entire pizza was out of balance. I also ordered a salad starter, which was another disappointment in terms of missing any enjoyable flavor, and the goat cheese used was either not fresh anymore or just poor quality and/or taste. I ate what was served and maybe was too polite. I left sorry I came here, grossed out, and unsatisfied, viewing coming here was a regrettable mistake. Service was very polite but distracted, often using a laptop computer on a nearby customer table. The bare decor is modern and clean but rather institutional, not necessarily warm and/or comfortable. It was also interesting that being new in soft opening, I asked if I could try a smaller portion of the meatballs, even paying for it, but they did not have the flexibility to do it, which doesn't reflect any flexibility or hospitality of a new business trying to build their brand. In summary, it was lackluster and disappointing. I give the second star just for them being polite and getting fed without being sick afterward. However, it was sad going into a restaurant hungry and feeling worse coming out because the meal was a downer. This restaurant may have white walls, but it was not a knight on a white horse that could bring a better pizza experience to the area. read more
