This is great fun! Very safe, easy, and gives a good adrenaline rush. I had a great experience today at iFLY with my 7 year old son. You know it has to be safe if they let kids as young as 3 fly. This place just opened a few weeks ago, but is very well organized and staff is good. Upon arrival, you sign in and then go upstairs to watch others fly for about a half hour. Then your instructor calls you into a room, goes over some hand signals/body positioning and you watch a short video. After that, you put on a flight suit, ear plugs, helmet and goggles. We chose the beginner package for 2, which included 2 flights each and a video of everyone in your class. This first flight was fun, but the second was the real deal. The instructor holds onto the handles on your suit and directs you way up the tunnel, turning you around as you go, and then back down. So much fun! There is very little skill involved for the beginner flights, so you can just relax and enjoy. I can see how it would be neat to learn how to do flips and just generally direct yourself in the tube without needing your instructor to drag you around. My son had a great time too. He's not the most adventurous kid, so I thought he might chicken out, but he did great and wants to come back again. All of the kids I saw had a good time and none of them freaked out. I'm trying to convince my son to do the kids club, but so far he says that he wants to fly with my husband or I. As an occasional adrenaline junkie, I'd say that this is a perfect combo of safety and excitement. Zip line tours are not as exciting, hang gliding is fun, but more dangerous/technical, trapeze is awesome, but more scary and physically demanding (I was really sore afterwards). Plus, with the wind tunnel, young kids can participate too! Random note: The shirts they sell fit kind of strangely, at least in the woman's sizes. An employee told me that they run small, so I got a medium (usually wear a small) which fits well except that the sleeves are bit tight. My wife got me the Earn your Wings package as a Christmas gift, and I finally made it by to use it. The reservation making process was very easy online and I picked 1pm for Sunday. After arriving to friendly employees, they let me know how it worked and I was on my way. The staff does a good job of explaining how it works to you, and give you opportunities to ask questions after a brief introductory video with the group of people going at your designated time. The experience itself was a ton of fun! Definitely unlike anything I've done before, and something that is almost a surreal experience. They have a $10 add on where you can "fly high" where the instructor holds on to you and you fly up 35 feet or so and back down 3 times. This was definitely the highlight of the experience and really gives you a sense that you're flying and then falling, whereas the rest of it feels like you're just floating weightlessly suspended in air. I'd love to do this again and would highly recommend it for adventure seekers and people just seeking a unique, fun experience. read more

We've been meaning to take our son here and on his spring break we finally did. I purchased a ticket and reserved online for $70. When we arrived, the ladies at the front were nice. But be careful, they get you. They ask you for all these additional stuff you would like to purchase. Longer times, higher fly time, etc. I paid additional for the higher flying for my son. We waited in the lobby and you can view other flyers. Once it was our turn, they take you into a room where you are given instructions and some guidelines to how this works. You are in groups of your fly time. The negative side to this is that although I paid for my son to go higher, it seems as everyone goes higher anyway. You can also purchase different helmets/eye wear for additional $10.00. I didn't like that but it looks better and more comfortable. My son definitely enjoyed his time! The equipment given to me appeared, felt, and smelled clean. No worn-out, broken down equipment here. You'll look just as professional and awesome as the instructors themselves. + Easy to Register Online and Great Over-the-Phone Customer Service My girlfriend and I registered online last minute and was given friendly and prompt customer service when I called afterwards with a question. My company recently took in the iFly Austin for a co-worker's going away party and everyone had an awesome time. The first and most important thing to know: do NOT expect to come in and just fly around in the skydiving tube doing flips and tricks hand-in-hand with friends, floating merrily around, twenty feet up in the air without a care in the world. Didn't quite work like that. There was a lengthy training course and video beforehand, and you really need to pay attention if you want to have any chance of actually flying. I kinda went through the motions and was like "yeah yeah whatever, let's go already." But the hand signals they give you are extremely necessary to succeed. Once I got my chance to fly, I took right off and soared up in the air and was circling around for about ten seconds, and then I crashed into the wall and never was able to get back up! I also really struggled to get out of the tunnel when my turn was over. Everyone took two one-minute turns and the results were pretty hilarious. I would do it again, but the price tag is pretty steep so it would have to be for a special occasion. read more

This is great fun! 4 stars for the over all experience and our instructor. A really fun time. Note, this is an ACTIVITY and you really need to actively participate, it is not a video game or something you can do without physical exertion. 3 stars for the pricing. I guess the more you go it gets more affordable, but it is pricey. But lets get real for a minute. It is a tube and a fan constructed to replicate what you usually have to pay to fly in a plane and JUMP OUT OF IT. so yeah, I guess it isn't that bad when you think of it that way. 2 stars for cleanliness. Frankly it was pretty gross. The place is new so nothing was stained but I guess they had a child's party (who knows when, no kids were there at the time) and there was trash on the floor, in the bathroom, it was gross. They seemed to have plenty of staff, so note to management, make your employees care a little more about where they work so it doesn't look like that. It hurts the user experience. I took a few of my customers to try it out for the first time, and we all had so much fun!! We had a group of 5, and we were lucky enought to have some more advance flyers in our group with us. So, inbetween our flights, we got to watch some advance flyers learn some tricks. The entire staff was very friendly, and the entire experience was well organized!! At the end of our flights, we were lucky enough to have a very experienced diver grab ahold of us, and take us to the top of the tower and back down again. We grabbed some drinks after our experience, and we all couldn't stop talking about how fun the experience was!! I can't wait to go back again and again, and strengthen my diving skills!! read more

Meh. It's not really flying people. At least not for first time flyers. They barely let go of you and you don't get any height to speak of. It is extremely expensive for the actual amount of time spent in the wind tunnel. It only 1-2 minutes. Afterward, they try to sell you flying packages that are priced better than what you just paid. Then they send you emails to sell you more flights. The instructor was nice and tried to be funny. He did his job well but it was all very rehearsed. Not that that is a big deal, just not funny. I guess it's a one time experience that many people won't want to miss out on but I thought it was just meh. read more

Some people purchased 2 minutes while others bought longer time. All the kids I watched did great and seemed to love it. Some adults said it was a neat experience but actually a little tiring/challenging, since you have to hold your hands and arms a particular way and get the hang of it. It was fun watching many different folks fly through the transparent tube, which has ample bench seating. A good experience but we don't see ourselves repeating it. read more

3-stars because they aren't very consistent with their customer service. A week went by and I hadn't received the pictures and videos I paid for while I was there. I called them up and they said the required system was down, so they would call me later or just send me all of the videos and pictures they took during the session. I can't imagine I'll ever write a review better than this one, so here it goes... Earlier this week a friend and I decided to go to iFly one evening. Neither of us had been there before but we've heard from people who have gone and they all had great things to say. As it turns out the staff there are far more than just employees. You can tell they truly enjoy their work and it makes for a fantastic experience. Daniel Lovett was our flight instructor and I can't say enough great things about him. His ability to convey complex information into layman's terms for noobies was stellar, as was his overall demeanor. Even when I felt like I was struggling in the tube with getting the form right, he was nothing but smiles and showed tons of encouragement (and patience). This can't be an easy job, and his enthusiasm for it should be recognized and applauded. In addition to your instructor there's a staff member in the booth controlling wind speeds in the tunnel. I know his first name was Drew, but I didn't catch his last name (sorry man!). Once again, his encouragement was really amazing. It would be easy for him to just man the controls and show no interest, but instead he was always watching smiling and giving me a thumbs up and even clapping at me when I made progress. As a manager for a local company myself I truly appreciate exemplary employees, and Daniel and Drew are the kind of people you're searching for when hiring. They made what was already a great experience an outstanding one, and my friend and I will be back for more (including private lessons). read more

I made a reservation for 2 flights for my husband for his birthday. I also added in VR. He had a blast. They checked him in very quickly and since we were early, they were able to move him into an earlier group. While you wait, you can watch other group go into the wind tunnel. After the training, they give you flight suits, glasses and a helmet. I was able to watch my husband the entire time. The instructor was very hands on and did a great job. It was a great experience. Lots of fun. I've never been skydiving -- indoor or out of an airplane. I thought this would be fun to check out. I signed up online. You must fill out a waiver. It tries to indemnify them from the possibility of their own gross negligence -- haha! That being said, I suspect you're at much higher risk of injury at a trampoline park than here. Check is is quick - be prepared to get weighed. The screen by the scale does not display your weight, and the lady didn't volunteer my weight when it was being taken, although she gave it to me when I asked. I checked it at 0915 for my 0930 scheduled time, but they were able to accommodate me in the group scheduled for 0900. I suspect YMMV if they are busy, though. At 0930 we were taken into a classroom by Josh S. (said his last name was pronounced Siri like the iPhone asst but spelled differently). We watched a short video. He came in and stressed the importance of watching hand signals. The fans are loud. There was no conversation when you're "flying" so you must pay attention to the hand signals. Next was putting on the jumpsuit, ear plugs, eye protection, and helmets. There were about 10 people in our group. Ages looked to be from 9 to 60 (guessing). Time in the wind tunnel was from 60-100 seconds. Each person went twice. They up sell the "high" flight for about $11. It's at the end of the second flight. It's 15-30 seconds where the instructor takes you up and down in the tunnel to the top. I did it, but I doubt I would do it (the high flight) again. My back and hips were a bit sore afterwards. Not too bad, but just be advised. It went away quickly. I'm in pretty good shape, but this certainly does require some physical effort. Fun activity for a Saturday morning. read more

AMAZING experience! I went to iFly for my boyfriend's birthday with him and his family. I was a bit nervous because it was my first time flying and usually I'm a total klutz. However, once our group's session started everybody had a blast! Our instructor, Waz, was hilarious and also made everybody feel safe before and during the flight. For the first time flyer experience, you get instruction prior to your flying experience and two times in the wind tunnel with an instructor for 1-2 minutes each (it's an exact time, I just can't remember exactly how long). While the time sounds pretty short, it actually feels like it goes on for a long time! It's also fun getting to watch everybody in your group go. This is definitely an experience I recommend trying at least once! While it is pricey, it's hard to beat the feeling of flying, while also in a safe environment. I hope to go back for my birthday in a few months. :) read more

I took my nine-year-old boy/girl twins to iFly after driving by it a couple of times. The boy was dying to go, and the girl was excited too. Their online booking is simple and straightforward. We arrived on time (45 minutes before your flight), and watched several folks fly before we had our 10-15 minute instruction. Our instructor, Justin, was great; funny and easy-going. After class you strap on your equipment, wait for the folks in front of you to finish up, and then it is time to FLY! My little boy got cold feet, so I was able to take his place with just some quick paperwork. Glad I got the opportunity - it was a blast! We paid for two one-minute flights apiece. Just be sure to relax and enjoy the flight! Justin made it all so easy. Both myself and my daughter had a great time. My son, of course, is sorry he missed out. Stopped by this afternoon after taking our daughter to Amy's and it was ... Awesome. We were just spectators and were reasonably entertained... That is until this guy went in there and flew with them... Now that sh*t is entertainment. Holy wow... I have no idea what that guy looked like, but anyone who can make a person fly like that, IS HOT. He was like a hot Jedi that showed up and worked his magic. If he currently doesn't have "make people fly" on his resume, then he should consider adding it, because damn... That was awesome. On a more serious note, I have no interest in ever doing it myself, but my husband will definitely be going back to fly sometime because simply watching really excited him. Awesome experience! Kids definitely had a great time and we had just as much fun watching! iFly is a well-oiled machine; reserve your times, show up early to go through the orientation, get suited up and then off to the chamber. Instructors were very nice and really helpful getting the flyers in the right positions to fly in the chamber. A word of caution; if you don't like being touched, then iFly isn't for you; instructors are in almost constant contact with the flyers, positioning hands, legs, grabbing handles on the flight suit to get you in the right position and ensure you don't crash into the wall! Two flight a minute each may not seem like a long time but in reality, I think it's just about right especially for younger kids as it can be somewhat physically challenging. The price point (not going to lie; it's expensive) would probably stop us from making this a regular activity but definitely something you should try at least once. All ages and all levels (believe you can even go solo once you've achieved a measured level of performance) are welcome. Know that they will upsell you when you arrive (e.g. a flight to the top of the chamber with your instructor costs extra) but not over the top pressure. All in all, a great way to spend an hour and the kids really enjoyed it! read more

First time writing a review but the experience at iFLY was too awesome not to. It's hard to know what to expect since I'd never been indoor skydiving, but upon walking in the building the front desk staff was immediately friendly, approachable and helpful. The facility is state of the art and the check in stations were easy to figure out. We met our instructor, Nick, who took us into a briefing room for a short video and demonstration on the basics of skydiving. As a former flight instructor and current airline pilot I really appreciated Nick's combination of professionalism, attention to detail and candor. This created a learning environment that allowed the group to both absorb the safety the instructions and ease any anxiety about jumping into a vertical tube with 100mph winds propelling you into the air! We got outfitted for flight suits, helmets, goggles. Everything worked great. I wore sandals so they provided me with some brand new 'flight' shoes to wear in the tunnel. The actual flights were amazing. Thanks to Nick's instruction both prior to the flight and in the tunnel my wife and I were able to fly almost immediately. What really impressed me was the level of skill these instructors have in moving around the tunnel. At one point my wife looked like she might lose control and fall down to the net. Nick swooped over casually, caught her, and put her back in a flying position all in a matter of seconds. Pretty impressive. So much so that we got the video of it! After you're done flying the instructor will do a little solo session, showcasing their skills by freestyling around the tunnel. This alone is worth the price of admission, we actually stayed around to watch some other instructors fly. 5 stars overall, go to iFly, ask for Nick (though all of the instructors we met were awesome so you can't go wrong). read more

After going with a group of college friends one weekday night, I have to say that iFLY is one of the coolest experiences available in Austin. The staff is extremely friendly, very welcoming, and goes out of their way to make sure that your experience fully enjoyable and memorable. As for the indoor skydiving experience, it is a bit trickier than I had thought it would be. Floating in an indoor tunnel is an awesome, unique experience; however, it is not natural. I was a bit sore after the first minute of flying; however, the second minute was much more natural and very freeing. One can miss the building; it's right off of 183 and uniquely shaped. The staff is very helpful, especially to guests that may have issues with heights and such. Instructors are very patient with kids, and offer great instructions on what do do once inside the chamber. It's pretty cool. A flight suit is provided with a helmut and eye protection. It resembles the outfit one uses to go skydiving sans parachute. The air chamber is right in the middle and can be viewed from any location in the room. I didn't partake on account of the 'weight limit' but my son and his friend did and after their nervousness, including an attempt to back out, I watched them enjoy the ability to fly. It's really awesome, and I'll even consider losing the weight so I can particpate next time I go there. read more
