I took my MacBook Pro in to TechHub at the beginning of this year because my keyboard had stopped…read moreworking. I took it here because I knew the owner and trusted that I could take my machine to get fixed! Boy was I wrong!!! About 6 months later I had a tiny crack in the bottom left corner of my screen. My screen later had some horizontal lines appear on the bottom of the screen but I was still able to use it for a few more months. Then one day my whole display screen turned white. I made an appointment on the Apple website to take it into a certified AppleCare provider. I had paid them a diagnostic fee and everything. They then told me that my computer had looked like it had been tampered with; ALL OF THE INTERNAL SCREWS WERE MISSING. And there was also a MISSING RIBBON CABLE. The IT Tech person who opened my computer said he had been working in tech repairs for 15 years and this is by far the sloppiest and worst work he has ever seen. Because of the damage that was done they were not able to fix my computer. I lost $65 for the diagnostic fee. I then was forced to take it back to TechHub where they failed to put my MacBook pro back together correctly. Emmanuel the owner told me that he had multiple people coming in with issues due to a certain employee who did the repairs. He told me that the IT certification of this employee was expired and therefore not valid. Yet he had no idea!! It blows my mind how you can hire an employee with expired credentials and not even know it... Anyways- Emmanuel said he would match the same price as apple- I said that's fine I just needed to get my computer fixed. He ordered a new display and apparently it didn't work when they installed it. They thought it was broken in shipment or was just defective so they had to return it and order another. Keep in mind that Emmanuel and anyone at his company was SO HARD TO REACH. He took days or evens sometimes over a week to respond to texts, keep in mind he has my computer with all of my photos and personal files. He was not considerate or professional whatsoever. Fast forward a few WEEKS (the timeline here is absolutely ridiculous) the second display they ordered did not work. He then told me it was a problem with the motherboard. How does a cracked screen issue then turn into a dead motherboard? I'm guessing the motherboard issue was probably because nothing on the inside of my laptop was secured down with the screws it was supposed to be for 6+ months- meaning things were probably moving around in there causing this issue. Anyways after literally months go by, he takes it to a motherboard specialist and says that the issue was past the expertise of this specialist he took it to. He totally screwed me over!! This is a $1,100 laptop that was only about 4 years old. Shouldn't have a dead motherboard. He returned my machine to me and offered to buy me out at market value or I could pay the price of the display and he would replace the motherboard free of cost. I didn't want to play humpty-dumpty with my laptop and have something else go wrong down the road given the condition of my laptop from all the internal screws that were missing. He has now been ignoring my calls and texts for over a month and I can't get a hold of him. I have a completely broken laptop and have been waiting to exchange my laptop for the cash at market value. NEVER TAKE YOUR PRODUCTS TO TECH HUB!! THEY ARE EXTREMELY UNPROFESSIONAL!! THIS HAS BEEN SUCH A NIGHTMARE. MY APPLE MACBOOK IS NOW BROKEN BECAUSE OF THEM AND I WOULD NEVER HOPE THAT ANYONE HAS TO GO THROUGH WHAT I WENT THROUGH. However..... these two lovely fellows told me they fix broken iphones and well im infamous for breaking iphones so i decided to save their business card and flyer. And i thank the gods i did, because after dropping my phone in the toilet after 9 months of owning it, i got a replacement and 3 days later i shattered the glass. i contacted them on a Monday morning, dropped my phone off at 10am and they delivered it me for free at my office during their lunch time approx 12pm. Please note i'm not sure if they do this for all clients, i just happen to be like 1 mile away. They aren't the cheapest but they are reliable and quick. Quality over quantity! i hope i don't need need them anytime soon but if so i will contact them again.

After a few hours and successful absorption of sun rays, we decided to head back to the car. Bag-check. Towel-check. Car keys-check. Phone-check. Open the door and....*CRACK* F***. Like butter on toast, my phone (still encased in its wallet case) decided to land screen down with the wallet portion flipped all the way open. Right on the super hard gravel. So there I am in Los Angeles, about to embark on another flight tomorrow and I'm phoneless. It still works, but the touch screen is completely cracked and useless. Fast forward 12 hours later and I'm zooming up the I-5 back to the Bay Area. Fast forward a few more and I'm sitting on Caltrain frantically calling shops to see who could fix my phone that day. It took 4 calls before I found a shop that: -was open -could fix my phone the same day -could fix an LG G2 for T-mobile. That last one was most crucial. Other shops turned me away because they didn't have the screen that would fit my phone. 2 hours later, I have a phone that looks brand new and the screen response works perfectly! So come on it, non Iphone or Galaxy users! Price is a bit steep, but I'm assuming it comes from the fact that my phone model isn't in as high demand. He plugged it into a charger for thirty seconds, saw it doesn't work, then said I have no idea what's going on with your phone. He's supposed to be an expert. Then he said to open the phone I need to pay a minimum of 250 dollars just to proceed. He called it free diagnostic but it's not free. If there's more damage he'll call me with additional charges. If I don't agree to pay more, I still have to pay the 250 dollar minimum cost just for opening the phone. That's not a free diagnostic. That's a scam. Don't go there. Update after the owner's reply: His reply confirms my complaint. In the store he told me to my face that he had no idea what was wrong with my phone. He never said the word motherboard. Yet in writing he now claims he diagnosed a "motherboard-related power issue." If he had actually found that, he would have said so in person. He did not, because all he did was plug my phone into a charger. By his own words, any real diagnosis requires opening the phone, and that only happens after I pay 250 dollars toward a repair. So the free diagnostic tells you nothing. You cannot find out what is wrong without paying first. That is the whole problem. He also says the visit was recorded. I was never told I was being recorded. If he truly has that recording, post it. It will show he told me he had no idea what was wrong, and that 250 dollars was required before he would even open the phone.

I went in after the Apple store told me they'd do nothing to help me get a backup, and the best they could do was replace my phone with a new one for $600+, without any of my data. Anthony immediately gave me advice about how to attempt a backup, and walked me through getting an iCloud setup and attempting a backup. Unfortunately, the phone didn't stay on for long enough for the backup to complete. So he took it and removed all the water, then did a backup before attempting ANY other repairs as I had told him the most important thing was my data (I didn't ask him to do this - he just listened and understood what my priorities were). Then Anthony tested the phone fully and told me what other repairs would be required. All in all, fixed my phone back to perfect working order for much less than the cost Apple were going to charge, PLUS they saved all my data. Sweet Memory were reliable, quick to answer questions, and regularly gave me updates on exactly how it was going. Phone problems really ruin your week, but they made it much less painful.
