But the beach is always clean, decent waves, and you can drive/park your vehicle on the beach! It's so nice to be able to drive on the beach and how everything with you instead of having to park in a private lot, and carry coolers, towels, and whatever else the Mrs. feel is necessary to drag to the beach! There are usually plenty of spots to park and lay out, although the beach can get crowded during the holiday weekends, as is the case with any beach during that time. Crescent beach also has several older, but nice hotels to stay for a longer period of time. There are also several shops and convenience stores just outside the beach on A1A. If looking to spend a Saturday or weekend at the beach, definitely consider visiting crescent beach!

The hubs & I first purchased our 4x4 vehicle permit at Vilano Beach, expecting miles & miles of sand to tear up.. we were met with less than a mile stretch of beach which was popular for fishing but not for off-roading or sun bathing. The attendant was nice enough to recommend we head to Anastasia Island which was a God send. The permit which cost $10 was good at any St. John's county beach access for the day. We stumbled upon Crescent Beach (on A Island) & conveniently found Barney's Beach Service 904-461-1422 and rented out an umbrella and 2 chairs ($50 from 10-4pm) The weather was perfect: a couple clouds spread across the sky, a cool 77 degree water temperature made it all the more easier to bask in the sun. And the sand was off white & powdery to the touch. I couldn't help but notice how peaceful the atmosphere was here. This trip ended up being just what the doctor ordered.
