Free place to go with the family. .Cute little gem on my way to StAugustine. Less than half a mile off the main road. After spending the evening at dinner in Town, we were driving back to Jacksonville. I decided to take a right to Vilano Beach and ended up here by surprise. It's a concrete pier with many fishermen doing their own thing. A pelican sat nearby waiting to be fed. He actually let me get really close and was used to posing for pics. Plenty of parking here. Cute little shops called Airstream Row. Yup, airsteam RV boutiques. Just adorable and retro. We will definitely be back

Great location to watch Boats cruise and sail on by from high above. The pier presents a great deal of excitement with fishing events ( that people actually catch fish) musical acts performed by street performers at any given time, well lite areas to allow a safe and comfortable time, and many enjoyable restaurants to choose from if the need for something to eat arises. The bathrooms are kept somewhat clean and are always accessible during pier hours. The parking lot stretched down the length of the street, so plenty of spots to choose from (you may have to walk a little distance). The pier is wide enough that fishing folks aren't getting there lines tangled up and the pier even has swings to sit on if available. Great little hangout spot to see the sites and enjoy the nice breeze off the water. This is one of our favorite spots for sunset cruise on the Red Boat.

I love all piers, of course some are better than others and some are better maintained than other but they all have their own unique personalities and story.. A lot of the piers are remnants of old bridges that were replaced and the community had the insightfulness to convert these aging structures into public access platforms that attracts tourist and locals alike and provides an excellent location for fishing or just a place to enjoy the ocean breeze and some solitude. This pier is surrounded by a few businesses that cater to this type of crowd, a restaurant with a outside tiki bar, bait shop. a small marina etc., the city has done a wonderful job creating a family atmosphere with a boulevard leading up to the pier with plenty of free parking. Being this pier was part of the old bridge crossing the river it is extra wide and is showing its age but still a great place to spend a few hours in the sun. There are public restrooms at the entrance to the pier and they seems to be fairly well maintained there is no charge for using this pier unlike many nowadays, this is great a place to experience if your in the area. One of the things that set this one apart from most is that they have installed a spur that allows boaters and water craft enthusiast to access the pier from the water with a floating dock and gangway leading up to the top.

I finally have one off of my bucket list, and I am so glad! I love this Pier. This used to be the bridge that would get you across to St. Augustine. They built a new, bigger and better bridge. They tore down most the the old bridge, but Vilano Beach was smart and saved part of the bridge to use for a pier that people can enjoy. There were plenty of Fishermen and women fishing the day I went. The pier was very clean and user friendly. They had a few awnings with swings underneath. I sure will be coming back here again and real soon. I challenge you to check this wonderful Pier out!

Parking might be a walk- bathroom was clean. Pier was already full of people fishing! Benches with cover along the length of the pier, pole holes as well (if you are fishing). I was there for a boat tour pick up, and enjoyed the pier for about 30 minutes prior!

This used to be the Vilano Beach bridge and they converted it into a pier that is worth checking out. You can fish here or just enjoy the water, it's free so just bring your fishing gear or chair and stay as long as you want. Oh and bring your sunscreen since there isn't much shade to be found.

If you are looking for either a leisurely walk or a fun fishing spot, Vilano Pier is a wonderful place to go! I personally partial to fishing on the pier and have done several overnight fishing marathons at this fantastic location! A recent makeover on this pier has been an esthetically pleasing change of scenery. Blue mosaic artwork in the pavilion area, clean bathrooms and dolphins statues poised high over this beautiful stretch of pier actually brings wedding parties here for photo ops! I enjoy this location as virtually every visit there is a NATGEO moment! I've seen multiple manatee, volkswagon sized sting rays, baby sea turtles, jellyfish, sharks galore, mammoth tarpin presumably breaching the water playing with their food and so many dolphin that I have lost an actual count. The fishing is great in warm weather and the pier has a couple of covered swings to just leisurely sit and take in the sounds of the intercoastal. There are only 4 or 5 covered picnic benches on the pier, so if you are staying for any length of time and the pier is crowded, you may want to bring sunscreen as the covered areas are generally prime real estate and thusly occupied.

Couldn't have asked for a better day in Vilano Beach! The pier is a nice spot to check out because of how far you can walk out, take your dog for a stroll, have lunch at the nearby restaurant (also with gorgeous views), and be able to really relax and enjoy being outdoors.

Well maintained...lit...restrooms (the reason only 4 stars...)fish clean table...outlets...boat tie up on lower area...usually good for cast net ...some shaded areas with swings...fishing is above average for piers...close to Beaches Restaurant (good bar food outside seating)...fishing locals are good folks...It is my go to fish area if we are not offshore. FYI...its gonna close for extended period for major repairs starting late Sep 2015....we are hoping it doesn't screw up fishing too badly!

Beach time!

Anastasia State Park

Spent the day at Anastasia State Park and it really delivered. The beach was beautiful with soft…read moresand and plenty of space to spread out. It was definitely windy, but honestly it didn't take away from the experience at all. If anything it made the waves more fun to watch and kept things from getting too hot. The playground was a big hit with the kids. They had a great time running around and burning off energy while we relaxed nearby. It's one of those spots where both adults and kids can enjoy themselves without feeling cramped or bored. Between the scenery, the clean beach, and the family friendly setup, this is an easy five star stop. Would come back again without thinking twice.

While staying in St. Augustine, we decided to see what there was besides the typical tourist spots,…read morewhen we came across Anastasia State Park. This is actually a pretty big park! The first thing we did was drive around to the campgrounds to check out the camp sites. There were tons of spots and each was clean and spacious. Like most places, there are spots for tents and rvs. There is a main road and on each side, a campground branches off. I didn't calculate the numbers, but my guess is that each campground has at least 25 sites, and there were at least 4 campgrounds. The only downside, is that it is a long drive to get out of the park from this area. Next we drove over to the concessions stand, but it was closed, so we continued over to a HUGE parking lot with beach access. From there, we walked across a very long boardwalk which took us through sand dunes and up over a large dune to the beach. It was another bit of walking from the boardwalk to the water's edge. I would say 1/4 to 1/3 of a mile for the whole thing? Anyway, the walk is worth it. The beach is clean and full of shells that you can collect. It is very large and stretches out in both directions, seemingly forever! It was far from crowded, for being the end of July, but that was appreciated and made it more enjoyable, obviously. We didn't go swimming, but we did walk in the water and up and down the beach until just before sunset, as there are no clear markers as to where we came onto the beach, and we didn't want to get lost. There is a shower/footwash station at the entrance to the boardwalk by the parking lot, so we took advantage of it before we got in the car. Entrance to the park cost $8 per car, and for beach access on an incredibly nice beach? Worth it. I don't know what camping costs, but i can't imagine it is much more. I would definitely camp here, if I had my gear with me, and I would ABSOLUTELY hit the beach! 110/2025
