After a lackluster experience with our former optomotrist in Uptown/Park Cities, my mother came home yesterday excited about finding a new optomotrist for our family, closer to our home near Las Colinas. She's had a severe eye infection for over a week and needed to be seen. The front desk staff greeted her when she arrived and was very welcoming. She was even more grateful they still saw her after being unable to find the online appt she had made the week before. She said the doctor was amazing, personable, knowledgeable and most of all caring. She was in and out for her appointment and very pleased - a 5 star visit! Today, my mom woke up with blurred vision so my Aunt went to get her prescriptions but there is only one. The doctor specifically told my mother to call the office if there is a problem with getting an eye ointment she prescribed. My mother calls the pharmacy to inquire about the eye ointment and they don't provide a reason yet suggests she calls her optomotrist as well. Remembering what the doctor told her the day before, she does just that. My mother is on speaker when she calls the office. The staff who answers the phone goes quiet after my mother provided her name and reason for calling so my mother thought the call had dropped. As my mother continues, the staff member interrupts, then goes quiet again as if she's bothered. Needless to say, I did not like how the staff member was handling my mother but I remained quiet and kept listening. Apparently, the eye ointment that was prescribed was not covered but my mother did not know this - because she does not work for the pharmacy, insurance company or doctor's office. She ONLY called because the doctor instructed her to do so if she encountered a problem attaining the ointment and she just wants to get better. The staff member continued to be condescending and facetious after informing my mother her insurance does not cover any ointments but it was when she passive aggressively stated "unless you want to pay $200+ dollars for the ointment...." I was floored! As if to imply my mother did not have the funds or capacity to do so! This is where my problem lies, who are you to infer where or what my mother spends her money on? She paid $3500 out of pocket for her eye surgery so $250-$300 is not going to hurt her financially for a medical prescription IF she needs it to get healthy. She's a Director over 11 financial institutions in Dallas & Houston, a philanthropist, a professional, makes over six figures and spends that on lunch so how dare you infer that paying for the prescription OOP would be a problem as if to put her in her place? In the interim, I digress. Again I'd like to reiterate per my mother, the doctor is phenomenal with great bedside manner, the office is nice and clean and boasts a lot of options for glasses and contacts, and you're in and out without waiting. She really didn't want me to mention anything because anytime we tend to have an issue or grievance, it's depicted as "Angry Black Woman" syndrome so she overlooks minuscule things. Well I don't and I feel like the office and public should be aware of this one staff member in case they encounter her. She's in dreadful need of etiquette, empathy and customer service trainings but we shouldn't allow one bad apple to ruin the bunch. read more

STAY AWAY!!!! They offered the high tech eye exam and they mentioned how awesome the details on the images are. I asked them if I select that exam... can I have copies of the images? They responded yes.... it's been a year later after supposedly over 20 attempts to email them.. I still have no images!!!! I literally decided to select that exam just for the images of my eye and they have yet to give them to me! They are liars and theiveis!! Stay away!!! They only care to get money from you and don't care about customer service. read more

I picked this place because it so close to home and work, and it is in network. Convenience is everything! Anyway, the place is clean and attractive and staff is always friendly. I have a history of retinal tears so I always make sure my eyes are thoroughly examined. Dr. Tauriac was extremely knowledgeable on the subject as expected, and she did everything to make sure my retinas are still in good shape. I wear contacts and I am happy to say that ordering them is easy and they are delivered to my home. Again.....convenience is everything for me! I definitely recommend this place. :-) read more

Dr. Tauriac provided an eye exam and prescription, I purchased Tom Ford Eye Glasses, but was not able to read my computer screen based on the prescription. The office did change the lens, but the new set was even worse. My calls and emails were avoided, and I had to be persistent, and was finally told that no correction would be made. This is terrible service, a company should stand behind the product they sell. I spent $900 on eyewear that is useless. I asked for my insurance claim to be removed so I could go to another Optometrist, and was denied. Feeling pretty ripped off after going here. I waived all the fancy stuff (opted to dilate my eyes instead of the scan, etc.). All I needed was a new rx for contacts. $340 and they still won't give me the rx! Apparently because I'm a new patient I have to go for a second visit, which I'm sure will cost a fortune as well! I've been wearing contacts almost twenty years & have switched doctors probably 6-7 times during that time because I move a lot and have never had to go to an eye doc twice to get a basic contact rx. My family has used Identity Eye Care in Las Colinas since they opened. When we first started, we had exceptional insurance and just worked. Over the years the insurance coverage is not the same. So we are taking on more of the costs. For a year the four of us tried a new a eye doctor where our out of pocket was considerably less. The other eye doctor was professional and they were good, but they were not Dr Tauriac and her staff. I felt rushed and could tell that they running patients in and out. Dr Tauriac does a very thorough examination and uses updated test and equipment. At times, it can take a little longer because she offers a lot of information. Scheduling and interacting with her staff is easy. What I like the best besides not being rushed are the selections of frames that they carry. I'm very particular about my frames. You will not see your frame on anyone else in the area. It's rare that I take the time to write a review, but over our family's 20+ visits, I feel qualified to give a fair critique. read more

Our whole family has been going to Dr. Tauriac for over 10 years. She is very knowledgeable and good at explaining any issues that she encounters. Several years ago I called to say I was having flashes in one eye. She explained that it could be a serious problem with my retina and that I should have it checked that day. She gave me contact information for several specialists in the area, but said she would stay late and see me if I couldn't get in to see one of them. She is very professional and caring. read more

I've been going here for 2 years and I'm very impressed. Dr. Tauriac takes great care of me and my eyes! I have bad astigmatism, so I'm picky with who I go to. I appreciate that she orders trial contacts for me to test out (at no charge) and isn't annoyed when we have to keep tweaking them to find the right ones. It's the way they settle on my eyes - not her ability to determine my fit - so I'm thankful for her patience. The perks of the office are: location- near everything; cleanliness; scheduling to meet your needs...one of the reasons I chose this place. However, I quickly learned that scheduling shouldn't be a priority when looking for a "good" eye doctor. I am not happy with the experience. Lots of miscommunication between the receptionist regarding insurance benefits. I spent so much money at this place because of the information given to me via phone before my appointment and at the office once I was done with my appointment. I asked before I did my contact consultation and eye glass consultation.. and the receptionist told me a price that was anticipated at least $100 less than what I was charged. Thus, I was beyond shocked when i saw the bill. I will not be going back there again. I feel like they disrespected me, because the receptionist didn't even feel bad about the wrong information she gave me. I'm a positive person. I try to look for the best qualities, but when I am disrespected... it frustrates me. This is the first review I am writing with a 1 star. It saddens me what people could do. read more

From the first call to them as a new patient to my 1st & LAST visit to me leaving this place was a horrible & miserable experience! The lady 'Hilda' who's the scheduler gave me the wrong copay amounts I would owe, come to find out from the others at the office she doesn't know anything about copay or billing insurance companies yet when I asked she would not hand the phone to someone who actually had am answer. No one including the doctor had any clue about basic Customer service. They handed me some papers when I left after I paid for my services which consisted of receipts but none of my prescriptions (glasses and contacts). This the worst and most pathetic place to ever I've been to. The only reason I went is because everyone else was booked for Saturday and they had an availability. I will NEVER go back to this SAD place. All the customers/patients had the same miserable facial expression I had on my face! read more

Pros: - Clean, attractive office with nice designer frames - Convenient location - Doctor was semi-friendly Cons: - Rude receptionist or whoever the person is in the front handling insurance (dark hair, medium height, facial piercing??) - Very long wait times for appointments; what's the point of an appointment if we (my husband and I) have to wait over an hour for it?! - More expensive than other places. I got a quote to replace lenses only in a pair of frames and was quoted around $125, I went to another place and asked for the exact same quote and was charged $90, guess which one I went with? Do your homework first people, I thought that all places would charge the same bc of insurance but that turned out to be an incorrect assumption. - My husband's sunglasses took over 6 (!) weeks to come in and the rude receptionist told me it's because Spectera is terrible and takes 5-6 weeks to do anything, something about stock and sending it offsite. However, I got a pair of sunglasses elsewhere and it arrived in 10 business days. Beginning to think rude receptionist at IE lies. Three stars instead of 1-2 because the first time I went to IE (for contacts), I actually liked it. Wait time wasn't bad. I didn't encounter the rude receptionist. I got my contacts in 3 weeks. So then I recommended the place to my husband and sister and the 2nd and 3rd experience was terrible as relayed above. I average out all the experiences and decided on 2.5 rounding up to 3. Now I go elsewhere, there are too many choices in DFW area for me to have to deal with rude personnel who has no respect for my time and abnormally high prices. read more

I was introduced to Dr. Melissa Tauriac's Practice in 2013 by a friend. I must say that I am somewhat particular when it comes to my personal care. My expectations were met and exceeded. I absolutely love the Dr. and her staff. I enjoy the fact that the staff knows me and my partner on a 1st names basis. I have literally walked into the office unannounced to get my glasses straightened out and cleaned. The Office Manager Renee is so sweet and patient. I picked up my contacts this weekend. When I got home, I saw that they only gave me a six month supply. This seem odd to me because I have always received a 1yr supply. I called my insurance company to make sure that my benefit had not changed from past years. My insurance company (Spectera) told me that I should have received a 1 year supply and that Identity Eye care(IE) incorrectly processed that claim. The next business day, I called IE to let them know of their error but I was told that I would I have to contact my insurance so that they can order the remaining boxes. Even though I did not think my insurance company should correct the provider's error, I did as instructed. Spectra once again confirmed that I should have received a full year supply and said IE would have to adjust their claim to have my remaining boxes ordered. As this point I was getting frustrated and asked the insurance representative if we could conference in IE. The insurance rep explained my benefits to IE but IE still believed that that I was only supposed to get a 6 month supply(2 boxes). How can you argue with the company who insures me regarding what my benefits are? Dr. Melissa then came on the phone, with an angry attitude because she was pulled out from an exam, and told us that she and her staff didn't have time to deal with 2 boxes of contacts. Then she hung up on us. Wow! That was very unprofessional. First of all, we did not ask to talk to you and take you out of an exam. You have staff to handle this type of work. The girl who handles your insurance claims needs to be trained properly and not be so arrogant and admit that she made a mistake -- again. No other Eye care offices had any issues with my insurance. Warning to any existing patients that go here, review your insurance policy because I am pretty sure they are not reading it properly and are over charging you. To any new patients that are thinking of going to Identity Eye care: DON'T GO HERE!!! read more

Visited on 3-21-15 for the first time. Dr. Melissa was very nice and knowledgeable, and her assistant wearing glasses, scrubs and longer dark hair was very nice as well. The lady in the front desk with the short, lighter hair and was wearing jeans today was rude since the first word she said to me. The other assistant with the glasses asked her a question and she was screaming the information across the room to me. I, myself, had to get up and go to her instead of her coming to me with the information instead of screaming it so that everyone in the office could hear(it was busy with a lot of people). She also charged me for an exam that was done that I declined to have done when I first got there and was filling out all of my information and pre-paperwork. I asked for the regular eye exam that was covered by my insurance and she charged me for an additional exam that I declined in the first place. I will be following up on this when they are open since they close at 2 on Saturdays. I would have given this a higher rating because I really liked the doctor and one of her assistants, but the front office lady that checked me out ruined my experience. She also seemed to be talking down to me and said "we have Vera Wang glasses, and I don't think you want to wear those" (how do you know I don't want to wear them?), plus all she was doing was standing around barely helping the other customers that were there. read more
