My parents were thrilled with this doctor and I continued to see him until I reached 18 or so and was moved to Dr. Colleen Walters - which has proven to be one disaster after another. I think many years ago Dr. Moody was involved in the management and operations side of the business - and it was flawlessly run. Since then, it is a "free for all" and the supporting staff, as well as Dr. Walters are, unfortunately, delivering sub par service. Over the years, I've visited about 6 times or so since I was moved to Dr. Walters. Each time I found her abrasive, inappropriate and very discriminatory. She makes unprofessional comments regarding my appearance ("you look tired, were you up partying all night); to my clothes ("did you sleep in your clothes last night") to my looks (you're too thin; what is going on in your life"). I saw her in December 2014 for an eye-check and contact lense fitting. She charged me over $200 for a established patient exam ONLY and told me she couldn't fit me for contact lenses due to an infection. No medicine was given; only told I would have to come back. I am a private pay customer; the fees for what she did was higher than any other service provider - she also did not give me a summary of charges. Then, a few months later, she called my mother, telling me it is time to come in for the contact lense fitting. I did NOT want to go to her - but figured I could bear her one last time. I was so wrong. First - she gives me a total eye check - remember, just had one 3 months earlier - and bills me $250. No receipt again. She tells me that my eyes need a special contact that she wants to order for me. I tell her to write the prescription - I'll order my own lenses. She tells me I have to wait for the trial pair she wants - and I have to order through her office. Lenses come in a few weeks later....but she still won't give me my contact prescription even though I've paid for the exam and fitting. She tells me I have to wear the contacts for two weeks, come back in for another appointment to see if I am comfortable with them, and then she will order them. At that time I will get my prescription. I've seen other doctors (Dr. Bass in Southlake is phenomenal), and you get a trial pair - AND A PRESCRIPTION - right there and then. My family also wears lenses and they are treated the same way. But this lady makes you run the gamut, wastes your time, makes you feel uncomfortable as she drills you with personal, inappropriate questions. I told her she double charged me (paid for the Dec visit and March visit - and March included a NEW VISION test for lenses - which I already got in Dec). BTW - the RX she wrote for the lenses was written two different ways. Basically same info - but her professional peers think it is odd that you would write one RX one way - and a second one a complete different way. I asked her to refund the fee I paid for the contact lense fitting since I paid - but STILL don't have the lenses a month later. In my opinion, she is not someone you want to work with if you are visiting this office. Who has time to wait while special lenses are ordered (BTW - Dr. Bass had a trial pair right off the shelf), come pick them up, wear them for two weeks, come back again and tell her they feel fine, then she will right you an RX but you HAVE TO ORDER THE LENSES THROUGH HER OFFICE. I am going to lodge a complaint with the BBB & the Texas Optometry Board as well. Seriously, if you are not going to give my RX, after I paid, and you are going to make me come back to you multiple times (BTW - I don't have a car so I am depending on others to get me there) and you won't give me my RX even after you accepted the money for the contact lense fitting - this not only sounds unprofessional, but may border on illegal. Word of caution - stay away from Dr. Walters - in you live in the DFW area - Dr. Bass in Southlake Town Center is an excellent provider - I walked out, after he gave me some serious discounts since I just had my eyes tested TWICE in the last few months, with both contact and glasses RX, trial pair of lenses and a price sheet comparing his prices and other purchase options (including Walmart, Costco, 1800 contacts). This is the real deal; forget Dr. Colleen Walters & Ophthalmology Consultants in Irving, TX! I'd give a ZERO rating, but this is not an option.

When I tried on my progressive lenses, close-up vision was clear but distance vision remained blurry. I was told the prescription and measurements were correct and that I might need to "get used to it." Later, I was told the original eye exam could possibly be the issue and I could return for a recheck. With a limited return window and a work schedule that makes repeated visits difficult, I wasn't comfortable taking glasses I couldn't see clearly through and hoping it could be resolved later. I returned them. I had also requested a contact-lens exam, which was forgotten, requiring yet another visit. If your insurance only covers one eye exam per year, research where you use that benefit carefully. After this experience, I'll get an independent exam elsewhere.

Even with the change from an independent shop (Las Colinas Vision) to a corporate chain in MyEyeDr, it's still a great experience. My Overall Rating - 4 Stars (Atmosphere, Service, Facility, Return) Atmosphere - MyEyeDr is located in Irving-Las Colinas and is a location with many healthcare businesses. Inside is a dedicated area for the optometrist, complete with multiple rooms and high-end equipment. Then there is a dedicated area for you to purchase glasses with the brand-new prescription you just received. It's a one stop shop. 1 Star. Service - My optometrist (for over 2 decades), is Dr. Park. He's personable, thorough, detailed orientated, has knowledge of my vision history, and remembers my family. I feel very comfortable visiting Dr. Park as my optometrist. The receptionist and retail staff are also very helpful. Just be warned, they're really busy in December when everyone is trying to use the Insurance benefits before they reset. 1 Star. Facility - There is a small waiting area for kids (great if you bring them with you), and there are multiple rooms to take multiple tests on your eyes. "Number one or number two? Two or three?" You get the idea. For the retail area, there are a large number of designer brands (Tom Ford, Prade) along with mainstream brands (Ray-Ban, Oakley's). The staff is great. My only issue is that it's very expensive. Even if you have good insurance, expect to pay extra. 1 Star. Will I Return? - Yes. I've been a patient of Dr. Park for decades, and a customer of MyEyeDr too. While it's super expensive, the experience is good and I always end up walking out with a nice pair of glasses. 1 Star.

They require constant visits, and it feels like nothing but a cash grab. I've been on medication that works great for me. However, when it came time for my refill after 60 days, I was told I had to come in and pay $145--for what? The medication works fine. I followed their instructions back in December, refilled my meds in February, and now it's May and the same issue again. With inflation and the rising cost of living, who can afford to pay out of pocket every time just to get a refill? And let's not even talk about the cost of the prescriptions themselves since I haven't met my deductible. Please explain why an in‑person visit is required for refills within a 60-90 time frame? Every refill requires another appointment, regardless of whether the medication is working. It honestly feels like they are milking patients. I only see these people for one thing yet they want me to come in for other services. Why? I only want to see you for one thing. They then said, I would need to show them proof of getting wellness services else where. Why? I don't have to prove anything to you'll. I only see you for 1 thing. So why the hold up. If the money went toward improving the office, it might make more sense--but the place looks untouched since the day they moved in, likely back in the '70s. It's old and outdated. Trust me--if you value your time and money, go somewhere else. Find a provider who cares more about patients than padding their pockets. GREED IS RUNNING THIS OFFICE.
