I have been going to Dr. Matthew Bashover for eye exams for contacts and glasses for over 5 years. Even though I now live 30 minutes away, I continue to keep Dr. Bashover as my eye doctor, because he does such an amazing job! He is thorough, efficient, professional, and a fun person to talk with. Although the location is excellent as I live in Viridian, I will not return. My prescription has changed every visit, while no discussion has been provided in regards to changes. As a military veteran, I receive excellent pricing on eyeglasses and contact lenses through a third party, and I could tell this is frowned upon in the office. When a verification was done by the third party, I quickly received a phone call that they will price match. I was interested, but they do not match free shipping so I continued with my military benefits. This is my third or fourth visit over the last few years and I'm never "wowed" or found "bedside manner" to be important. Again, I have continued based on their location. This last visit, both my prescription and contact lens size changed. This was never discussed. When I tried to remove my contact lens, it would not come out. I was provided lenses that were too small and different from my last 15 years of contact use, leading me to seek care at a medical office to have them removed. This lead to a subjunctival hemorrhage in my eye. I contacted the office the next day, came in and the front staff was very helpful.. I was provided a different lens, but in the same wrong size! After a second visit to a medical office to have them removed, I contacted the office again. No one has called me back and there has been no contact after the first visit for the lens change. Nothing. I even contacted by text and although I keep seeing read receipts, still, no one has contacted me. I now have two blood stains in my eyes and am supposed to attend as a speaker in a conference, which now I am embarrassed and very upset about this situation. I could understand not being "wowed", but with no contact whatsoever or follow up from the office with several pertinent issues the last few weeks I will be persistent in not recommending their services and will seek future eye exams elsewhere. read more

I wanted to say thank you to Dr. Matthew Bashover and the wonderful staff at Accent Eyecare. I happened upon this place by driving by and seeing the storefront. From the first moment, I set foot in the place, the front desk staff was friendly and helpful. Dr. Bashover is incredibly knowledgable. After a thorough examination, he took a lot of time in explaining his findings and recommendations for me. As a healthcare provider myself, I know that it is exceedingly rare for someone to take the time to provide such a thorough examination and detailed explanation. I was very confident in his experience and recommendations and will be returning to see him for further examination and prescriptions. A special thank you to Logan, who was a brand new employee at the practice but was kind and welcoming and performed some of the initial measurements using the diagnostic machines. She was patient and not afraid to ask for help from the other employees to make sure she was doing a good job. And another special thank you to Yumi, another member of the front desk staff. At the completion of the appointment, she provided a pre-prepared detailed breakdown of the costs associated with the visit based on the services provided and the insurance. The detail of this aspect of the visit was also very unique in healthcare where the costs are often a mystery. In summary, I have the utmost respect and highest recommenation for Dr. Bashover and the staff at Accent Eyecare. I have already recommended them to my family and friends and will continue to do so. I have been a patient at Accept Optical, 3990 Collins St, Arlington for about 9 years. It seems that every visit he wants to change the prescription and I can see without issues. Reading comments that others have experienced the same leads me to believe something is not right with this practice. It seems like they want you to keep buying eyeglasses, preferably from them. I am on to them, so I started using the same frame, if they are in good shape or buying my own frame and having the lenses put in. I bought frames from another vendor in 2021, and had a prescription made by Accent Optical/Davis vision with all the extras. On 5/25/2023, I had a visit and he recommended another change . I had to give them by glasses , and I believe they were sent to Davis vision. This was not unusual, and I've been through that process many times. I waited a long time and no glasses. I called in June to check what was going on , they could not tell me. Today 7/6/2023, receptionist called and said , "they were ready." I get there and the rude receptionist said," I had the frame ! " They always take the glasses, but she wanted to argue with me. Never, in all my orders (appx 5) did I keep the glasses, and just bring the frames when the lenses were ready. I had a sense that they lost them back in June. It usually takes two weeks to get the prescription returned. I can accept that they were lost or broken, however , I should have been informed of this before going in there and expecting to have my eyeglasses. Moreover, I expect to be fully reimbursed for the total cost of lost or damages pair of eyeglasses , not just a frame. Apparently, that is not what the reception feels is the right thing to do. According to her math , the cost of my frame (without taxes) $145.00 and $175.00 for new lens is $300. Her math is a little off. I want to give others an idea of how things can go wrong with people that have no respect for the customer, and decide they want to give you what they think it is worth. Whatever system they use to keep track of a customer's property is not good. The receptionist said she has been there 16 years, but can't even apologize, she just wants to argue with a customer, while others chime in and further escalate the situation. read more

The Arlington location was very good about getting me in when I needed to see the doctor, but waiting in the office felt like I was surrounded by immature high school girls. The staff was eating, singing, gossiping/complaining about patients, cursing, and it made the setting very unprofessional. I was very uncomfortable sitting there hearing all their very casual conversations that definitely needed to be saved for a break room. read more

He is listed with the state for medical professionals that help people with disablility with their eye care needs to help them get employment. He has a excellent staff to help you, BEST EVER. Will refer you to other specialist in eye surgery if needed to correct an issue. I can see today because he cares and is knowledge in more areas in eye care than most. Has far as parking and the area. It is a middle of the road safety zone. I have lived in Arlington since I was born and never had a problem with parking or theft in the shopping center. The store windows are very open to the parking lot and the staff do look out the windows from time to time which my husband noticed. However, as Arlington PD will tell you put all items out of sight in a trunk and lock your doors better safe than sorry. There are bike racks in the shopping center last time I looked as well. Lots of places to eat with top chef's in the area once your finished and are hungry. read more

Dr. Bashover is very honest and knowledgable.  I made an appointment because I was having a lot of pain in my eyes as well as seeing a few blurry spots. Turns out I use my phone too much. The staff up front is really nice and helpful and knowledgeable but the doctor seems like a quack, so I won't go back. They have iPads and new technology everywhere but the doc is a bit wack. He asked me for my prescription and wouldn't write me a new one until he knew what I had... isn't that your Job? To tell me what I need... I had to go back to get a different prescription after he finally wrote me one, something I've never had to do. Took me about 7 visits to finally be done with this place. I absolutely love this place. Amazing staff!!! I went in last minute to get my eyes checked since I currently live on Austin, Texas. Once I picked out my glasses (some trendy ray-bans), they called me 3 hours later saying my glasses were ready for pickup with my new prescription. BEWARE: The staff is horrible! One in particular is a very miserable person. Just rude, mean, and has a huge chip on her shoulder. If you don't like your job then quit! Just to be fair, Dr. Bashover did a good job and was helpful. However, one of the staff ladies was soooo rude! They made a mistake filling out my personal information in a form, and when I asked that lady to correct the mistake she first argued that they were right and after I insisted for correction because the form was very important she behaved aggressively, rude, and insulting. Shopping for designer eyeglasses is a big expense not to mention a health consideration for your future precious eye sight and should be a pleasent and fun experience. However I had a horrible experience at Accent Optical! Absolutely uncalled for. I had picked out glasses months and months ago and was a returning customer. This time everything changed. The woman at the desk was so rude claiming my insurance had changed. I believe they were discriminating against me because my insurance hasn't changed since I got it. When I asked to see the manager she left for a really long time. When the manager came out or the optometrist he was even ruder then her. Completely unprofessional. the store looked different too, really low class. It seems like the staff was really sharp before and the store had a nice atmosphere. I believe there are nicer places to spend your money where you won't be discriminated against. Where you will feel welcome and the staff will appreciate that you selected their store to shop at. My mother has been going to Accent Optical for many years for glasses and eye exams. I recently drove her to an appointment so I had a chance to check out what Accent has to offer. I am lucky to have perfect vision so I spent my time looking at sunglasses. They have a nice selection of interesting and good looking frames and I was very happy to get the input of the staff as to which frames looked best on me. In the past I have made the mistake of buying sunglasses that I thought looked good but did not suit me or my face shape. They were Oakley and at the time (many years ago) I thought they were cool. Luckily this time I had the help of Accent Optical's staff who gave me good recommendations of what would look good on me. I ended up with a sweet pair of Burberry Sunglasses. I have gotten a surprising amount of compliments on my new shades, so much so that I decided to write this review. My mother has been going here for years and really likes the Doctor and the service as well. read more
