this is usually the place where my family and i go to for emissions, but i have to find a new one…read morenow. they hired a new man instead of the sweet older one that is usually there. i pulled up and was waiting for the new guy to motion me to drive in, he was sat there chilling for 15 minutes playing on his phone and drinking lemonade when there was no other customer ahead of me. i pulled in and he did not greet me, i said ready? and he said nothing back, im waiting some more and then he said "can i open your car door" i said "go ahead" but he opened it so forcefully, literally yanking it open. then im waiting some more and he says something like "i need your undivided attention, do you even want to get this done?" and im confused because ive been sat in my car waiting for him to say something to me, i look at the screen and see he wants me to say my mileage now. he never asked for it. i said my mileage and he looks pissed for no reason. then he tells me to get out of my car. i said i usually never have to do that here but sure, and he says nothing back. i'm waiting out in 40 degree weather for him to run the test. again, he says nothing when he is finished so when i see he is done i get back in my car. i could have gone anywhere else for a $25 emission but i used to love this specific place because they're usually fast and nice. but i will not be coming back

Too many times I've had my emissions test done by a grumpy old man who tries oh so hard to make the experience as unpleasant as possible. This isn't the case at Green Dot... I didn't catch the owner's name but he made me feel great about getting my emissions done. This is the dictionary definition of a family-owned/operated place with the husband/wife/child all in the garage hanging out and helping folks. Too often people crying to support local business consider that buying an overpriced bag of Fair Trade coffee or locally made goods, but this is just as important. I wish they did more than just emissions because I'd trust him and his passion with my car.

My three-star rating is because I waited almost 1.5 hours to get my emissions checked here. That's by far the longest I've waited at any emissions place over the last ~25 years. I came here because the place I'd been going to in recent years was temporarily closed. I pulled up to the lot at 2:18pm on an ordinary Thursday. The time printed on my report was 3:39pm. When I pulled up, there were nine cars ahead of me. The cars were packed in and the tail end of my car (just a little bit) was sticking out onto Collier Rd. It wasn't clear where else go to because the Goodwill next door doesn't want Dekra customers in their lot. The guy in the SUV ahead of me got tired of waiting and left. A woman in an SUV behind me looked agitated and annoyed with the wait. If you come here, be prepared to wait. Hopefully, you'll get lucky like some of the other Yelpers here. This is a one-man shop. I was seen by the manager "Mr. Ben" Benjamin Floyd, who's mentioned in many of the reviews. I believe it's just him and one other inspector who works at this location. Mr. Ben is a personality. He's a talker and we hit it off immediately, joking around and shooting the breeze. I could tell he did the same with others ahead of me, because some of their faces lit up, as well as with others who left reviews (hence all the five-star ratings). He runs a tight ship and isn't afraid to put people in their place if they give him a hard time. He is trying to get cars through as fast as he can, but this location is very busy. This is a tiny place. I saw Mr. Ben had a deal where he'll do your emissions test ($25) and install two Rain-X wiper blades for $65. On-site is a porta-john and a quick hand carwash. I saw two small ladies working the carwash on the other side of the emissions testing structure. Last time I went it took like 10 minutes and I didn't have to get out of the car. But they are closed, so I went to the Goodyear around the corner for $19.
