Very friendly and fast, I was in and out in 8 minutes. I appreciated how friendly and professional the guy was

Yelp led me to this Dekra location for my latest emissions inspection. The reviews are polarized -- a bunch of five-star reviews and a few one and two-star reviews. My three-star rating is because I waited almost 1.5 hours to get my emissions checked here. That's by far the longest I've waited at any emissions place over the last ~25 years. I came here because the place I'd been going to in recent years was temporarily closed. I pulled up to the lot at 2:18pm on an ordinary Thursday. The time printed on my report was 3:39pm. When I pulled up, there were nine cars ahead of me. The cars were packed in and the tail end of my car (just a little bit) was sticking out onto Collier Rd. It wasn't clear where else go to because the Goodwill next door doesn't want Dekra customers in their lot. The guy in the SUV ahead of me got tired of waiting and left. A woman in an SUV behind me looked agitated and annoyed with the wait. If you come here, be prepared to wait. Hopefully, you'll get lucky like some of the other Yelpers here. This is a one-man shop. I was seen by the manager "Mr. Ben" Benjamin Floyd, who's mentioned in many of the reviews. I believe it's just him and one other inspector who works at this location. Mr. Ben is a personality. He's a talker and we hit it off immediately, joking around and shooting the breeze. I could tell he did the same with others ahead of me, because some of their faces lit up, as well as with others who left reviews (hence all the five-star ratings). He runs a tight ship and isn't afraid to put people in their place if they give him a hard time. He is trying to get cars through as fast as he can, but this location is very busy. This is a tiny place. I saw Mr. Ben had a deal where he'll do your emissions test ($25) and install two Rain-X wiper blades for $65. On-site is a porta-john and a quick hand carwash. I saw two small ladies working the carwash on the other side of the emissions testing structure. The "Deutscher Kraftfahrzeug" is where "DEKRA" comes from. Read their Wiki for some interesting history: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dekra I had time since I was waiting in line. At the time of writing this review, Dekra has 20 inspection stations in Georgia, all in metro Atlanta: https://www.dekra.us/en/georgia/georgia-inspection-stations/ Mr. Ben told me wait times are much better if you come first thing in the morning: 8am, Monday-Friday and 9am, Saturday-Sunday. He told me this Dekra location was experiencing an unusually higher demand than normal at the time. read more

Service is fast and was friendly. Also you can get some basic car supplies too. Worth it for speed and convince.

It was a great experience! I called ahead of time to see if I needed an appointment, no appointment is needed. I liked that they picked up the phone right away and answered my questions. Brownie points for good customer service. Emissions Test cost $25 but if you go to the website there is a $4 off coupon if you fill out your information. read more

Great location and really easy in and out. You do not have to get out of your car. I came on a Saturday around noon and there were maybe 4 or 5 cars in front of me, and I was in and out in no time. Busy place! Takes about 10 mins per test. Mr Ben is a chatty guy, and so can sometimes take longer, but he gets the job done.

One-man operation. Went for an emission inspection at about 1:30 PM and found a hand-lettered sign saying closed for lunch 1:15-2:30. I waited and received service at 2:30. read more

Very fast & easy service. You don't even have to get out of your car because of COVID. The results hit the GA system very quickly also. I can't remember the cost but it was under $50. I know where I will be going from now on. read more

SUPER EASY AND QUICK! Great location (corner of Defoors Ferry and Collier, same parking lot as Goodwill donation center) and really simple to just pull in. No need to get out of the car. Ridiculously fast service! Absolutely stress-free. Very friend and professional. Can also get windshield wipers replaced at pretty much market price. Cash or credit card accepted, very reasonable price. Check the Dekra website for a coupon too. Some days there is a hand-washing car service available as well. SUPER CONVENIENT! read more

This place is quick and affordable if you're trying to get an $25 emissions but don't expect good customer service or any service at all. The guy said maybe 2 words to me in the awkward 10 min transaction because he was busy on a personal phone call the entire time. No interaction whatsoever and was basically guiding me on what to do with his hands because his phone call was so important. I guess you get what you pay for. read more

No need to go anywhere else, now that I found this place. I went Feb 24th around 10:30am and was in and out in about 10 minutes, great service. It's an open area at the corner of DefFoor's and Collier. Because it's open, there are no hassles about parking, waiting rooms, or smelly oil change facilities (no offense.) I was expecting to be inconvenienced when I set out to get my emissions tested, because hey--everything about car registration is an inconvenience, right? Not this part. So easy, just sit in your car. Mr. Omar Franklin was friendly and efficient. He politely asked about the condition of my wiper blades and replaced those for me as well while I was there. Fair price, also. Thanks, and may you prosper, Dekra and Mr. Omar! read more

The guy was so sweet , we just had a family funeral the other day and me and my mom are just so drained . Not only was he making such polite conversation but he gave me and my baby sister a rubber ducky ! 20min before closing time also and it was so welcoming , we hate being late but we were on our only day off of work it was the only time we could . Side note he didn't even know about our family loss and he was still a angel . read more

Went to get my emissions and it was quick and easy. I was able to get my tag at the dmv kiosk at the store.

Came here the other day and the service was great. Friendly and straight to the point. I was out in 15 min ! Will def come back!

Went back by there after being contacted about my review. It was explained why they had closed early the day I came by and I was instructed to return and I'd be given a discount which I was. The service was A one and I'll return there again with my other vehicle as soon as I get it out the shop. read more

If this wasn't the easiest emissions inspection I've ever had completed! 10 mins in and out once my car pulled in. Don't waste your time, really long line! Other nearby places are much faster! people in line keep cutting and trying to get ahead of everybody, really sketchy and difficult to get the emissions done in a timely manner unfortunately read more

Was going to another place on north side and come to figure they closed down. I decided to give this place a whirl. The attendant was very polite and courteous, I didn't have to get out of the car. Went for my emissions check and they were fast, as well as practicing social distancing behaviors. The technician was a pleasure to work with and I plan on going back next year. read more

I'm sure this isn't a unilateral review, but for one service person there the day I went to have my emissions checked, two stars is p generous. Dude was greying and probably about 5'9", kinda smelled like beer, told me no emissions place was going to test my car until I procured the piece of paper from my previously failed emissions test (in the trash as of about two weeks ago). If he'd just plugged into my car and read it, he'd see that I'm passing after having my evap system repaired. Before this, he said I had six minutes to get him the official color of my car, curtly. He checked up on me after a bit (this information is weirdly hard to get ahold of) and when I told him I still hadn't found the official brand color way, he was like "you've got four minutes and thirty seconds." Turns out this was for his personal amusement, which he disclosed AFTER I managed to find the exact color of my car. I think he was having fun trying to thin out the crowd toward the very end of his workday. Turned me away, no service. read more

If you're in need of emissions testing, and like me work unconventional hours this is the place to go. They are Open on Sundays and minus the small line, it took a total of maybe 5 minutes. The technician was quick and friendly and answered all my questions. If you go to their website they offer a $4 off coupon as well. read more
