If you believe that the customer is always right, don't go here. We placed an order for my sons's wedding and their cake order was for a champagne cake. When they cut it the cake tasted like nothing but lemon. We took the cake back to them and they argued that not only was it champagne, but that their cupcakes and cakes are made differently and that is why it didn't taste the same. Sad to say we won't be back and will not recommend them to anyone who asks. read more

Fabulous cupcakes :) In the area hiking and craving a reward we found Ida's. Love the concept, pick your cake and pick your frosting. Why don't more places do this?! They've got a menu list of mix & match options, as well as a display case of the most popular combos. You pick your poison and they frost them up right then. We chose 6, three for each of us. The cakes were all moist and the frostings all thick and rich, but not overly sweet. My husbands favorite was chocolate/peanut butter, while I gave a gold star to lemon/raspberry. They were all fantastic though...quality cupcakes worth every penny. We will be stopping by every time we're in town, highly recommend. :) read more

Very disappointed in our local cupcake shop. Ida's has been making excellent cupcakes for years. As a frosting-oholic, I have always asked for - and received - "extra" icing at an upcharge. I have even paid for a side of icing. Apparently, Ida's has made the decision to no longer sell sides or extra icing. This is half your business! Being able to purchase sides of icing is commonplace in nationwide bakeries like Susiecakes. Bring back the icing, Idas. You'll be better for it. read more

We were celebrating a birthday, and these did the trick. Everyone got their own flavor and was pleased! Customer Service - 0/5 stars While the cupcakes were great, the customer service was not. First, they asked us three times if our group was together. All three times our answer was yes. They seemed irritated that we were there. We were maintaining our 6 feet from the other groups inside and we offered to wait outside if our group was too large due to Covid restrictions. (We were in there with a family of 3 and a family of 4. So 4 adults and 3 kids total.) If they didn't want a group our size in there, they could have said so. Regardless, their tone of voice could have been better/friendlier. Their menu was not clear. They were out of a few flavors which is understandable. But the way they were explaining what they had/ didn't have and the way they marked it on their big menu board was not clear. As we ordered and misunderstood the menu and what they had/didn't have, they reiterated themselves, which is fine. However it was the tone of voice the woman constantly spoke with that was a great example of poor customer service. I would say it was an issue on our side ... but the guy ordering as I waited for them to prepare our cupcakes asked them to repeat what they had said again because he was confused as well. That made me feel it wasn't an issue with us. Having been in service positions in the past, I can advise that even if the employee is frustrated, they can and should still treat the customer with respect. I mentioned to the employee that having the cupcakes they were out of visible in the display case was throwing everyone off. I suggested they remove the cupcakes they were out of. Good customer service would be responding by saying something like "that's a good idea" (whether they intend on taking the suggestion or not.) Instead the woman took my suggestion and gave a sad excuse saying something similar to "the woman who put the cupcakes in the display case would get mad at me if I removed any of the cupcakes." (See image provided ... the cupcakes are not arranged in any special way. They are simply placed on a cake tray. I don't believe removing the cupcakes they were out or would have negatively affected their display.) While there one of the two employees in a frustrated voice said something very similar to "it's been a long day." It was 2pm. And regardless of how long the day had been, if you are in a position attempting to offer great customer service, you offer great customer service. read more

Visit 09-28-2019 Sorry to say, I am kind of in a rut. We have been visiting Ida's for years and have probably purchased over 1000 cupcakes for events, gifts, and a few for ourselves. So why is it I have only had one flavor, ever : o Carrot Cake with the buttermilk frosting, it is my thing and to the annoyance of some of my family members, that is all I will ever try. I say it is like asking Leonardo da Vinci to call up La Gioconda to repaint the Mona Lisa. Perfect is perfect so leave it alone. Joking aside, they have an incredible selection of cake choices and toppings. The only thing harder than finding a parking spot, is figuring out what cupcake to go with. I have my opinion. This is really a great spot to drop in if you're visiting Bend, and if you live here and have not visited, shame on you. One small cupcake won't ruin your diet, well not too much anyway. Loved this cupcake shop! I'm from Reno and was on a road trip and stopped in bend. We got a sweet tooth craving and looked up desserts and picked Idas at random. And it was delish!! The store is small but cute and clean. Parking was easy to find. I have been in quite a few cupcake shops and NEVER have I been somewhere you can mix and match the cake to the icing. That was sooo awesome, why isn't everywhere like that??? Nowhere in Reno let's you do that. All the flavors we wanted were in stock which was another plus! I feel like everytime ive been to a cupcake shop, even early, things will be sold out. But we got to try all 4 of the cupcakes we wanted. My favorite was a classic, pumpkin spice with cream cheese frosting. Sooo delicious. We also got vanilla with salted caramel, chocolate with raspberry, and apple with maple cream cheese. They were all great and SO MOIST. Our eyes were bigger than our stomachs and we ended up not finishing them and we store them in our car in just the box they gave them to us in and the next day they were STILL SO MOIST. I ordered a cake for my husband for his birthday. I was truly impressed with how many follow up calls I received just to ensure my order was perfectly correct. I placed an order for a "log looking" cake with small mushrooms as we are mushroom foragers. The cake itself was vanilla with Oreo/vanilla buttercream. It exceeded my expectations by far! I used to go back and forth about Ida's, but finally realized I needed to draw a line in the sand, yay, or nay? It's official, it's a yay! Here's my recent discovery, cupcake push-up parfaits. Who even thinks this stuff up? Luckily Ida's did. Layers of cake and frosting in a push-up. All sorts of combos, I just take what they have and don't worry about what it's made up of, always been super pleased with the combinations. The only problem, they don't always have them. I sneak them in on my way home from work when, eat one on the down-low in the car. I know, I know. Great service, great quality cupcakes - I've ordered them for all sorts of events, birthdays, thank you's, etc. They are open to special orders and special requests. Ida is no longer the owner, find her volunteering at the Bend Visitor Center. She's a gem. But the legend carries on without her, new owners have hired a great staff, engaged, knowledgeable and delivering a quality product. read more

This is a gem of a business! I've been going here for years (all 3 locations) and have always had a delicious experience. Galveston is my favorite location because it's a darling converted house in the heart of Bend. Most times I walk in the door I'm greeted by friendly young staff members which makes the experience that much better! Wow! This place knows how to do cupcakes. Seriously the flavor combos seem endless and each new flavor I tried I was ready to be dissatisfied. Not the case. I'm embarrassed to admit that in a weeks vacation I've gone here three times. I love trying new bakeries when I travel, but if you're in Bend look no further. The flavors though...I'd pay more The idea is they have freshly baked cupcakes and variety of frosting ready. You go in and choose your own combos, they go and frost your cupcakes, and in a few minutes you're out the door. Which flavors should you get? I was not missing out and went 3x like I said. The lemon poppyseed cake with raspberry frosting is great for summer. The raspberry flavor tastes real! The Mint Oreo is tasty, the chocolate cake (they put chocolate chips in the chocolate cupcakes...such a great idea!!) with vanilla buttercream is a perfect traditional cupcake; Red Velvet with cream cheese frosting is fantastic too (these 4 cupcakes are in photo I posted). These cakes are sweet and delicately rich, but each flavor is true to its name. No fake flavors. Some others: key lime cake with vanilla buttercream was good (though I should have gotten cream cheese like the worker suggested); oh the Salted Caramel is soooo good too! We found this place after hiking all day in the hills nearby. We didn't have many expectations, but regardless, they were surpassed. They don't frost the cupcakes until you order, and you can choose any combo of cake and frosting-- such a great option. I don't like frosting and these cupcakes were topped with delicious, creamy frosting that was flavorful and not too sweet. The place was busy--the product lived up to the obvious popularity. Came in last Sunday on my way to the airport back home to SF. Although there isn't a bakery case with a lot to see, the options are actually many. They sell only cupcakes but you can get any cake and frosting flavor combo and three different sizes I believe. I got a peanut butter cupcake with peanut butter frosting and Oreo crumbs. They put it together in the back as you order it. The cake had Pb and chocolate chips in it and it was really moist. I generally don't like cupcakes because they tend to be dry compared to cakes but this one was good. I really appreciated the kind girl helping me and the lady who I think was the owner and their willingness to combine two different frosting types to satisfy my Oreo/peanut butter craving! read more

We stopped by to give them a try. Service was friendly and fun. Choices we plentiful. Debi did a chocolate cupcake with salted caramel frosting. I chose chocolate on chocolate. Quite honestly it's the best cupcake ever. Debi (the expert) didn't agree. She says they were good but not the best. I will admit the cakes crumbled too easily, but I'm sticking to my guns. It use to seem so welcoming when you came in and they would enjoy talking to the customer and help mix fun flavors but now it seems like they just want you in and out.
