My 7th grader decided she wanted her ears pierced when we were at the mall today. She has been asking for awhile and I got my ears pierced at Claire's back in the 90s so I figured why not? I was beyond pleasantly surprised by the service we received.... at Icing...in the mall. The last place I'd expect to be raving about on Yelp,but here I am. Bre, who did the piercings, was so professional and really took her time to make sure everything was right. She was thorough, capable, and just downright lovely to be around. We got a discount on jewelry as part of the piercing deal so we shopped around a bit for new earrings. The store was organized and clean and the other two sales associates were so friendly and I had the best customer experience in the most unlikely of places. Good job Icing! i love icing I shop there a lot and buy many things again and again never have I had a problem there. today, the new manager was insane. she asked me if I wanted to pay for the item I took and put I my bag. i then said look for yourself you are wrong I didn't take. she wouldn't look. then the sale items had a sign above it saying $5 select items only. I picked one that wasn't five and she told me at the register it wasnt. nothing was marked and in my opinion that sign is misleading. I thought they were all five underneath it. she continued to say I was wrong and wouldn't even acknowledge me at all when what I said was clear I was right. I wanted her understanding even if she couldn't do anything about it. I want them to change the sign or move it. she was trying to seem nice and shooing me away like have a nice day ma'am and I was crying because I was embarrassed by her in front of other customers and I was on tears. she smirked again and again at me and I left. She owes me an apology soon. She could have been nicer and also maybe even agreeing with me about it and just have said sorry about it. I never want to see her there again. She said she didn't want me back in the store because I was acting like I was and crying. Woah, where'd they teach some of their employees customer service?! It's a small store, you could even call the experience of being in there "intimate" as you're only ever a step or two away from the cash register/an employee. In this case, I'd personally want to be in close-quarters with genuinely nice people, not individuals wearing a tight pair of grouchy-pants! I came in twice one afternoon, here is my review for my first visit: I was looking for a headband and a belly chain (and if I could snag a new pair of fun sunglasses I would). They were restocking/organizing at the time of my arrival and without question I was being really careful of not disturbing their process by stepping on the merchandise they had laying out all over the floor. However, one of the girls made me feel pretty juvenile by asking me to be careful, as I made my way to where their very limited selection of belly chains were. On ringing up my purchase (I decided to try out the one decent style of belly chain they had to see how I liked it with my swim suit), she seemed almost irritated about my asking why they had so few body chains to choose from. Oops? Not at all friendly, just wanted to get me out of the store, so it felt. Didn't even feel like looking for anything else at that point. Bye. Here is my review for my second visit that day: I decided to return the belly chain without even confirming whether it would work or not. I bought it without really liking it. It was gold and I would have wanted silver, so there's that. On returning, the girl from earlier was not there, and I was greeted and talked to by another associated. She was a sweetie. I looked at headbands this time and didn't know which one to buy! So many to choose from! Sunglasses sort of failed. Lots of those Ray Ban looking styles and Aviators, all in every color of the rainbow, but what I was looking for was more of the giant eyed pair -you know, the mosquito glasses? Ha. I wanted to use the amount I paid for the belly chain as a credit for something else, but sadly, with a time constraint, I just returned the one item I bought hours before. The same nice girl that I spoke with earlier this visit was lovely during the transaction and didn't make me feel bad/guilty about simply wanting my money back and not making an exchange. I might come back again to look at their hats... I mean, I like Icing, there are definitely cute things to be found in there. As I said, this store is itity bitty and that probably contributes to a lack of variety of merch. That also means the staff is front and center. No need for prissy attitudes, just smiles! Do yourself a favor and pay the extra money to get your kids ears pierced somewhere else. Our initial experience was pleasant, however 3 days later, the left piercing fell out unbeknownst to my daughter sometime throughout her school day/after school play date. I noticed when she returned home, & we headed into the store, assuming it would be a quick trip, as obviously the earring shouldn't have just fallen out, and they would take care of it and we would be on our way. I was wrong. They said that i would have to purchase a $20 cleaning solution in order to get it repierced, because legally they couldn't let me leave the store without sending me home with solution. I pointed out that the paperwork stated that i had solution at home, but they said that was policy. I understand places have policies- but sometimes there are exceptions to the rule. The earring should not have fallen out, and they should have made things right. Instead, i begrudgingly agreed to pay the $20 solution fee and go ahead with the repierce. I noticed when the left ear was being initially pierced, that the gun was not releasing how it should be. I was told that was unrelated to the clasp staying on- but when she went to repierce and was lined up ready to pull the trigger, she changed guns at the last second. Coincidence? Then she repierced it accidentally with the wrong earring, and only after her error did she do a straight exchange. Now my daughter has two different earrings for the next few weeks. Which is no big deal- Accidents happen, and that's totally fine. I felt bad that my daughter lost her earring, which she was so excited to have, and bad that she had to go through the pain again- and then i felt bad that it was not a smooth righting of the situation. If this was handled how it should've been from the beginning, I would be leaving a totally different review. There's no way it should've just fallen out 3 days after piercing, unless it was not firmly snapped in the first place. (Oh and the "assistant managers" attitude STINKS!). Won't be back there and will be telling all my mommy friends to steer clear. read more

I have to admit that the only reason why I came back to this store was because of the previous review . Hoping to run into the employee the previous review says Kristi C. I ran into a young Hispanic girl Allie I asked her for Kristi and she kindly told me that she wasn't working that day but that she could help me with anything I wished. Thinking she wouldn't say that considering the fact that she was taking stuff out of bags working on what I believe was new stuff she put that aside and helped me look for what I needed not only did she help me but she also kept tuning back and forth to help everyone that came in. She also pointed me to the sales they had something yu rarely see an employee do. That's when I knew she wasn't just trying to sale me expensive items but she treated me like a friend not another customer. Her great customer service and helpful advice changed my mind about my visit here before. In which a girl (a little on the big side) only stood behind the register on what I believe was her phone..so unprofessional.. everytime i asked for help she would help but with attitude.
