Ice cream

Rolled ice cream . Yum . If Benihana's wanted dessert, this the place to go. There is a self service machine that takes credit card. If unsure on how to use the machine you can also order with the person up front. Being that this place is located in San Mateo Downtown the parking situation can be difficult but not impossible. There is a couple garages nearby and always that Walgreens if needed I always get the bravacado and the bravacado today was served by the manager. Leave it to manager to roll it up, it came out chefs kiss

What do you call this type of ice cream? The one made by spreading it thinly on a cold plate, freezing it, and then rolling it up. It was a trend a few years ago, but there's still one place left in downtown San Mateo. I do like ice cream, but this isn't really about the taste of the ice cream itself--it's more about the fun of watching it being made on the cold plate. Kids find it fascinating, and they end up eating it all up with delight.

I can't believe I haven't yet left a review for Icicles! My favorite here is their Bravocado that is made with fresh avocado; I think about it from time to time! If they're out of avocado, my next goto is the Mai Thai / Thai tea flavor. Given each order comes with many rolls, my hubby and I always share an order between the two of us. The staff is delightful here. It's a local business I gladly support!

Pretty good. Came here at night and it came out fast, using the machine was confusing because the debit thing doesn't work so you need to print your receipt and they have to run it through the register

Cute rolled ice cream place. So I'll start off by saying that you mostly order through a kiosk. I saw some people wait in line to order from a physical person, however, you do take them away from making the rolled ice cream. This place was also very busy when we went in. There's no indoor seating as well. However, for how busy it was, we weren't waiting for long and we had a group of 4. The ice cream was so so good and would highly recommend! The only downside is there's just no where to sit.

while i thought the ice cream was whatever, i really disliked the speediness of this place. i went on a sunday night and while it was busy, it was incredibly inefficient. you order on a kiosk and of course, nobody knows what they want so they sit there and scroll through the menu and toppings for 10 minutes while there's a line of 5 people behind them. it took me about 25 minutes of standing in line (3-4 people in front of me) and then another 30+ minutes for the ice cream itself. i wasted over an hour at this place just to grab some ice cream. there are better options a short walk away that i recommend getting for dessert like somi somi or teaspoon. the wait was obnoxiously long. the plus side is you get a couple of toppings for free. * there is no indoor seating btw *

Icicles has been my all time favorite this summer for ice cream. These rolls of liquid gold is worth the expensive wait lol. I usually get the Mai Thai and my husband gets the Nutella and chill. The Mai Thai has a strong Thai Tea flavor which I love, you cannot ever go wrong when you order it because it's one flavor. As for the Nutella and Chill it seems to fluctuate in flavor as these rolls are freshly mixed sometimes the banana flavor could be more overpowering than the Nutella. After a handful of visits we finally started to ask to balance the flavors or ask for more of a Nutella flavor, the staff was very kind and of course new faces most of the time (student employees/young).The consistency of these rolls feel luxuriously thick, almost like cold clay in your mouth that melts. There could be a long wait if it's busy because they're literally mixing and rolling these ice cream rolls with their hands and requires a lot of strength. Inside it has a cute wall set up for pictures but no seating, you have to stand and wait for your order so keep in mind the parking meter when you visit. They may be on the pricy side but very worth it considering you can see the ingredients/ process of making your rolls. The toppings are a plus if you want more flavor and texture. I always get the toasted marshmallow!

I haven't gone to Icicles for years now. I remember everyone loved going to rolled ice cream places when it was trendy, but I still appreciate a good rolled ice cream place when I come across one. I came here after eating dinner because I wanted something sweet. It was either boba or this, and I chose this. I wanted something cold yet not too sweet. Upon looking at the menu, there are a few things you should know. There are regular cream flavors and non-dairy options. There's also separate stands/kiosks for if you want to pay with cash or pay with card. I ended up paying with card that night. With the iPad kiosk, it allows you to choose a base first, and then add up to 5 toppings for free. You can add mix-in's in your ice cream, but it's $0.50 more. I ended up getting strawberry fantasy with whipped cream, toasted marshmallows, Graham crackers, condensed milk, strawberries, and cheesecake pieces. My total came out to be around $13. I almost forgot how creamy this was and how slow it melts. I loved all the toppings I got with my strawberry fantasy base (honestly most of the toppings I got are in the base itself). It wasn't super sweet and it hit the spot. I also loved the presentation and the staff that made this for me. Thank you again! I enjoyed it so much!!

My son wanted dessert after dinner, so we walked into this cute place. When we saw people are waiting, I know this will be good. Vincent was very nice and helped us with our orders. We got the #5 Oreo Blast & #15 Ube Everywhere. They are very dense and delicious. I thought it would be like ice cream in rolls but no! They are very different. Dense and flavorful! I would totally come back and try out different flavors.

It was hot day on the Fourth of July. I haven't had icicles in a long time. It was no line since it was getting close to closing for the day. It was so good that I would definitely come back again. Oreo blast was so good.

Excellent ice cream but service was questionable. Run by a bunch of kids who felt like they were miserable at work.

Rolled ice cream, unlimited toppings. Takes awhile to make so make sure you have time to wait but the concept is cool. Thai style ice cream

The Oreo blast is off the hook, with the marshmallow with pretzel, and in my opinion I like the rainbow sprinkles with it but I like it

Hi! We are opened daily 5pm - 10pm. Friday and Saturdays til 11pm.

The line moved quickly, with just a few groups ahead of us. Pricing falls in line with standard Bay Area dessert spots: $7 for a small, $8 for a medium, and $9.50 for a large as of 2025. Service was fast and friendly. While there's no indoor seating, there's a spacious patio area with plenty of tables and chairs outside. I'll definitely be coming back soon to try more of their flavors -- the Chunky Fudge Brownie and Caramel Fudge Vanilla both caught my eye.
