Sushi Dinner with California Rolls Shrimp and Vegetable Tempura
Kami S.

Instead of our usual Labor Day barbecue, we chose to have dinner at my family's favorite authentic Japanese restaurant. Ichiban never disappoints and we always leave feeling happy and full. Their portions are extremely generous and filling! We always leave with food left over for another meal. Everything is always made fresh and service is always top notch! Our highlight for every meal is seeing Masako and Tom! No wonder this restaurant has been in business 39 years and counting!

This is our new favorite family owned restaurant. The owners and staff are all sooooo amazing. They treat every customer like family. The care they put in just amazes me. We made reservations for a large birthday dinner, changed the number of people, then had to change the time, and they were so accommodating. They made the birthday honoree feel special. The food is good but the service is impeccable. A great place for family and large groups. They have food for both adults and children to enjoy.

I hadn't been to Ichiban in nearly 20 years because I had moved, but man, what a gem! I am so glad this place continues to thrive in the community! The food was great, prices were fair, service outstanding, and the restaurant is the same as I remembered it. We ordered the 3 item combo with steak teriyaki, vegetable tempura, and California rolls. The steak had a couple fatty pieces, but otherwise was cooked great. The tempura was literally the best I've ever had. Sooo crispy and light, not overly oily and the vegetables were cooked perfectly. The CA rolls were delicious and fresh. The ONLY (small) complaint I had was that the side of white rice was a bit starchy/gummy. Maybe it had sat or overcooked? We also ordered a rainbow roll, 1 piece of halibut sushi, and 1 piece of eel sushi. It was all amazing and fresh. Good portions for the price. Lastly, the give free edamame for the table and it was perfectly cooked and perfectly salty! Stop supporting all those chains and keep these small, family owned places in business instead! The owner literally walks around to check on you and make sure your experience is perfect. Can't ask for a better night out supporting a place like this!

Gem of a Japanese family restaurant sitting inconspicuously (no signage) in the corner of a large strip mall. Next year is their 40th anniversary and you will be able to see why - good food, friendly service at excellent prices from this original owner who still visits the tables to check on you. Excellent sushi, tempura, teriyaki and all the Japanese favorites in generous portions at still family run restaurant prices. A must try if you are in the area! They also sell their popular salad dressing to go!

Edamame when you sit down! Awesome.

Family owned sushi place buried in the back of a plaza. We came right before closing and they couldn't have been nicer or more welcoming. A dish of edamame came right away and we got started on that. For dinner we got 4 pieces of albacore, a spicy tuna roll with soy paper, a tempura udon and a poke bowl. Spicy tuna roll was as expected. Nice spice level. Albacore looked good but my kid ate it all before I had a bite. Udon was a big old bowl with a rich broth. I requested broccoli only for my veggie and they obliged. It came out crispy and piping hot and was a generous portion. My poke bowl I asked to be spicy and no salmon. It comes with tuna, salmon and yellowtail. It was a heaping serving for $19 with chunks of avocado and some cucumber on the side. The yellowtail was a ***touch*** fishy for me- but I'm not a yellowtail fan normally. The tuna was very good and loved the temperature. The gentleman helping us I assume was the owner and he was so friendly with my kids. Even though we were there right before closing I never felt rushed. This place isn't fancy but had a great atmosphere. Would for sure come back!

Love the food, great service. Prices are great, you get plenty of food that taste delicious. Would recommend this restaurant to everyone.

You need to come here for the lunch specials! Can not beat the $5.99 Sushi Bowl... Your choice of tuba, salmon, albacore or mix...

The fish on my sushi roll was fresh and tender. The pork katsu curry was perfectly spiced with just the right amount sweetness.

My son took me to Akashiro for my birthday. What a treat this was!!…read more He ordered the full omakase experience for us. I didn't know what to expect, but WOW! It's a like a dining adventure. Fifteen courses that are surprises because even tho there's a "template" of types of dishes, each one is ultimately the chef's choice. As each course was brought out, our waiter did an excellent job of describing what each item was and it's place of origin. Fifteen courses is alot to try to remember each specific dish so I decided to stay in the moment (after I snapped a pic) and enjoyed each one as we had them and talked about the flavor profiles and what we liked best about it. When my son had made the reservation he must have told them we were celebrating my birthday because in addition to the regular dessert course, our server brought me a birthday dessert which included green tea ice cream and a slice of matcha cheesecake. The full omakase experience was delicious and so fun! I told my son that it was like an advent calendar ~ each course we "opened" had us saying "ooo, how yummy" and left us with almost giddy anticipation of what we'd discover next. If you're looking for something fun and unique for a special occasion, I highly recommend the full omakase experience at Akashiro!

It's a Saturday and husband was ready for sushi. I had another place in mind, but they didn't take…read morereservations and we're not about to chance it and wait. So we found this place and it was in the same vicinity and yay, they took reservations. Made reservations same day for a 18:30 seating. Service is impeccable. We were welcomed with hot towels, and this impressed me: when our server asked if we wanted cold or hot water. Love it! We opted for hot, better for digestion :) Our libation: Kubota sake - semi dry, rich, clean Our dishes: Assorted sashimi (16 pcs) - omakase. No soy sauce needed. Chef prepared with delicious flavors in mind. Tiger scallops - served in a what appears to resemble petrified wood, carved into a long boatlike dish. Hokkaido shrimp, cilantro oil, chilaquita (Peruvian onion relish), sweet potato crisp, smoke aji Amarillo (Peruvian yellow chili) Leche de tigre (rich emulsion of limes, Peruvian spices and chilis) - A complexity of flavors that comes together so completely. Eat with spoon. The delicate potato crisp finishes the bite with a little crunch. Udon picante - bell peppers, quinoa and 2 jumbo shrimp. Love the heat level. Comfort food at its best. Salmon parmesan - Nikkei sushi - seared salmon, parmesan bitter, eel sauce , arare, lime. Amazing. O toro sushi - the fattiest cut of tuna. Eat as is. Again chef prepared. No added seasoning required. Parri maki - fried shrimp, cream cheese, seared tuna topped with chimichurri, aji amarillo, chalaquita, ponzu. Food experience was enhanced by their impeccable taste in music. Super chill, soft beats stream the restaurant. With its perfect lighting too sets all the good moods for us. Don't wait for this fine dining experience of Japanese and Peruvian fusion. Note: when they ask if you want soy sauce, say No, thank you. It would be a shame to kill the taste of a beautiful dish with any added sauce. Kampai! Salud!

I may have just discovered my new excuse for not driving across town for sushi…read more I'd actually been here before for happy hour, which I enjoyed for the value--drinks, a variety of bites, and enough sampling to convince myself I was conducting "research." But I wanted to try the sushi before officially handing out my Yelp verdict. Verdict: this place is going into the rotation. We ordered the 20-piece omakase, and I liked that the chef wasn't afraid to get creative. This is definitely not traditional sushi, and that's a good thing. Yuzu and other unexpected touches were worked into several pieces to complement the fish and add some personality without turning every bite into a chemistry experiment. The service was excellent, too. Our chef even threw in a few extra pieces--which I will never object to. Free sushi is one of the few things in life that requires absolutely no convincing. I also love the location. It's close enough that this could become one of those dangerous neighborhood spots where "let's just grab a quick dinner" somehow turns into an omakase and a couple of drinks. Creative sushi, great service, good happy hour, and conveniently close to home. Basically, everything I need to make this a regular stop--and everything my wallet probably didn't need.

The only area that could use some improvement is the service when guests first arrive. There wasn't a host at the front and no one greeted us, so our party wasn't sure if the staff even knew we had arrived. Also, when we were seated, our table didn't appear to have been properly wiped down. There were tempura crumbs and water rings from previous cups still on the table. With a little more attention to greeting guests and table cleanliness, this place could be even better. The food itself was great and definitely worth coming back for!
