Unique taiwanese shaved snow place. there's no other place like this in San Diego that i know of. It's a small business that has been around for at least a decade. Very busy friday/weekend nights, lines usually long but if you go weekdays it's better. the snow is made with real ingredients unlike other places that use powders/syrups for flavor. The blocks of snow are already flavored (think of it like a big block or ice cream, just shaved in layers). Service is also generally good! I would recommend getting any dairy based snow with condensed milk layered! it brings out the flavor. the non dairy flavors are like sorbet but also very tasty (i like the lychee or super lemon which tastes like frozen lemonade). if you pick a build your own bowl, it's weighed (snow or softserve) after you get toppings. I notice it's usually between $5-$10 obviously dependent on weight but the minimum is 4.50 so if you are below that, they'll just charge 4.50. I'd recommend this place if you want a lighter sweet treat! Other places can be heavy but because this is shaved, it's easier on the tummy. they do also have waffle creations that seem good for couples to share~ (my favorite is the strawberry shorty, it has cheesecake bites and fresh strawberries, the waffle, and vanilla softserve). they have taiyaki too but it's not like somi somi where there's icecream inside, it's just filled or plain (the nutella one is really good). also their thai tea drink is really good read more

I enjoy shaved ice/ice cream treats but this style was just not my favorite. The machine that Iceskimo uses to shave the ice cream cylinders is unique and fun to watch. I would have liked one more row of candy topping options, as the ones I chose (brownie bites and mini Choco cups) weren't very sweet. The shaved ice cream itself comes out in long piece which isn't as satisfying to me as smaller crystals like in kakigori or even harder pellets like dip n dots. Icekimo's shave texture just did not enhance the dessert eating experience for me. That said, I did enjoy the flavors - lychee was light and refreshing while the Thai ice tea flavor tasted exactly like the drink. read more

Service was good - the shaved ice itself was really lacking in flavor. We tried black sesame and jasmine milk tea, neither of which had much discernible sesame or tea flavor. Honestly without the condensed milk added, I don't think the ice would have tasted like anything at all on its own. Toppings were fine. We really enjoy this place. The shaved ice like ice cream melts in your mouth. The affogato is also very good. The espresso taste high quality which I love. They also give it to you on the side so you can pour yourself. The staff is always very attentive and has great suggestions. Quick stop after a friend's dinner at Dumpling Inn. It helped that we already had parking and could walk to Iceskimo. When we walked in, the store was empty, so we had a chance to chat about their offerings and ask the two employees for their recommendations. I've passed by Icekimo so many times during various forays into Convoy but I've never actually been till recently. I swung by as I was craving an after dinner sweet treat and wanted to grab a drink for the following day. The shop was clean and service was friendly. I didn't know their shaved ice was like froyo, where you choose your own toppings, but I actually LOVE that since you can get a bit of everything. They have great Asian flavors for their shaved ice and my jasmine milk tea ice was strong, smooth, and sweet. I would skip on their Vietnamese coffee next time though. My husband and I just got married last week at the Japanese Friendship Garden (JFG) in Balboa Park. For our wedding, we really wanted to celebrate and represent each of our cultures through food. You can look them up on instagram :)), and since I'm Taiwanese, I was so excited to have found ICESKIMO in San Diego! This is a fun little shop for yummy cold treats my favorite are the shave ice options.

Iceskimo makes really aesthetic and creative desserts so they get a lot of points for that! Their soft serve and their shaved ice is pretty good, but their drinks and their waffle creations are just okay. I found their matcha latte to be super bland, with a very, very subtle matcha taste. Their waffle was also just okay, the texture was really good, but the taste was also a bit bland. The soft serve was really good! Overall, they get about 3.5/5 stars because the inside didn't look too clean, and the way the topping bar was arranged didn't seem super sanitary. Their desserts are average and slightly above average, but service was quick and easy! read more

Cons: Staff member in the red shirt was at the register to the right of the toppings picking the polish off her nails where is landed on the counter.. Right next to the food...ewww. Then both workers went toward the back (seen in the picture) where she continued to pick the polish off her nails next to the top load freezer where the food is kept. when a customer came in and she then served them she put on gloves, but didn't wash her hands. really grossed me out.......... We came here after sushi across the street because they have vegan options whereas Bing Haus does not. I ordered the mango vegan option and it was phenomenal. Everyone in our group of 5 ordered different options: my mango snow, a soft-serve, a waffle, an affogato, and a waffle creation, so we got a good look of the different offerings. The toppings were abundant and the prices reasonable. Everyone loved what they got. I'm marking down for service. We were there midday; only one table was finishing up their ices. The two girls taking orders were just having a great chat session with one another while we waited for our order to be prepared. Another worker came through at one point behind the counter and that person and one of the girls disappeared behind a door for a good 3 minutes. We were baffled. After we got our orders and sat down, one of the girls sat up on the back counter and the two continued their chitchat. The garbage can was overflowing with trash on the floor - we had to set our empty containers on a counter near the can because literally nothing else could be shoved in there. There is a saying in food service, "if there's time to lean, there's time to clean." I don't expect everyone to be cleaning all the time, but if the trashcan is bursting out onto the floor, take care of that before the chat, kids.
