We were here three times this weekend for a hockey tournament. It was one of the better experiences we've had at this rink. The refs called the games tight and were pretty consistent. Much improved from prior times we've played here.

GKG; love it!

- 2 rinks, nice ice surface - Hot snack bar - Tons of parking - Pro shop AND personalized screen printing on site - Vending machines for soda, water, Gatorade and snacks - Quarter games for kids; claw machine, pin ball, etc - Ample locker rooms This would be one of my fave rinks if it wasn't for the benches in the back rink. Half of the viewing belongs to the in-house gym area and you are not allowed to spectate in that area. Thus...if you're watching games in the far right, everyone is packed like sardines in the stands. Love the shop connected to the rink as well. Great for the last minute tape run! Shoutout to KINGMAXIMUS who had a vendor booth at the Fall tournament. I picked up a lot of stocking stuffers! (Scarf, apron, bottle opener, umbrellas, etc...GKG!)

Youth hockey in action-fun to watch

There are 2 rinks here. We came for the open public skating. I thought it was a bit overpriced. About $37 for 1 adult and 1 child, including skates. I'm not sure what the price is if you don't need skates. Very few lockers and benches to put your skates on. I was disappointed that they didn't use the Zamboni in the middle of the open skating. The ice was pretty rough by the end. It was fun for my son to watch some youth hockey games. Overall a fun time, & we'll be back.

PRICES as of 2/7/2022 General Adult $18 Senor/student/military $14 Kids under 7 $9 They're located near the Tyler Mall on magnolia. It's easy to drive pass so make sure you have your directions on. This is the perfect place to go out whether it be with friends, family, or a date! I had so much fun trying to ice skate. Emphasis on TRY. There entrance fee also includes ice skates so don't worry about getting skates. Make sure to verify their open skating hours online!

We went on a Sunday, the children's ticket was $17 from 1pm-3pm, my friends thought it was a bit small...but still fun!

There's not much info on their website in regards to public skating/prices, so I took a glance at their calendar and went by that. I probably should have called to confirm as we drove an hour to get there, but it's summer and every day is an adventure. We get there after a hot minute of traffic and driving in circles. We couldn't see visible signs for the rink, but just a hint, it's right next door to the super big police station. Parking was ample, didn't seem like it would be crowded. We head in and it looks like that have double rinks, but the one up front is being renovated and when I saw that I panicked until the girl at the window told us there was another rink in the back. I paid $39 for three of my kids (including a 5 year old) for open skate plus skate rentals, they do give military discount, it's a dollar off. Wow. Super pricey and I wish she had told me about their Groupon that expired that day, would have been a better deal, but she was nice and friendly. So was the kid at the skate area passing out the skates. He was really patient with my kids and helpful. They finally get their gear and skates on and get to the rink. I figured for the money I spent, they were gonna skate for the whole three hours which they did for the most part. It really wasn't that crowded which made it more enjoyable for them since they hadn't gone skating in at least a year and needed that time to get used to it. There was a moment when my oldest stepped off the ice to take a break and she was holding her baby brother. There was an old man that walked past, don't know who he is in regards to the ice rink, but he told my daughter to make sure she doesn't take the baby out on the ice. As I stood next to her! It would have been one thing if he was making a joke, but he was dead serious. I understand that it's a matter of safety, but what an insult to my intelligence! The kids had fun, but probably won't be back due to that remark and the prices. We will just take our business back down to Ice-Plex in Escondido! P.S. They had weights on the floor to hold down the lifting mat covered with safety cones. To me it's more dangerous and posts a bigger hazard of having an unsuspecting kid or adult trip over it! Not to mention my one year old could easily move it. P.P.S. This place is filthy! Trash and food everywhere, my 13 month old picked up rock hard string cheese and tried to eat it from one of the floor crevices. So much litter, please clean up!

Parking is $20 per car, and if you don't arrive early, be prepared to park far away--some fans parked blocks out and walked in. If you're carrying chairs, backpacks, or gear, this is one time where being "cheap" can cost you comfort. Trust me, closer parking is worth it. Entry is free for coaches and players, while spectators pay $10 per person. One important thing to note: parking and entry are cash only. For those who don't carry cash, there are two ATMs available--one outside and one just inside the entrance. Lines can get long for both parking and entry since everything is handled manually. With today's technology, it would be amazing to see parking and entry handled digitally with barcodes or mobile pay to keep things moving faster. Once inside, the facility is impressive with 12 courts, but finding where you're supposed to be can feel overwhelming at first. This is where good communication with your coach and GroupMe becomes essential--they'll guide you to the correct court quickly. Seating is limited, so bring your own chair. You won't know where your athlete will be playing from match to match. Some areas have small 3-tier bleachers, but they don't hold many fans. The good news is that family members can sit courtside on the designated bench while their athlete is playing, or you can set up your personal chair nearby. Weather matters here. This wasn't a summer tournament, so heat wasn't an issue, and there are huge fans throughout the complex. However, November brought cooler temperatures. On Day One, we unknowingly sat near what felt like an open window and dealt with a chilly breeze. Day Two, we were positioned near a wall--much better experience. Lesson learned: dress in layers and stay flexible. The facility posts "No Outside Food" signs, but there is a snack bar (cash only) inside. We also noticed fans ordering food delivery and eating outside. There's a food truck in the parking lot, but lines can be long. A smart strategy is to bring snacks, stash them in your car, and snack between games. Shout-out to the staff--they were friendly, helpful, and consistently kept the restrooms and common areas clean, which is always appreciated at a busy tournament venue. If you plan on taking photos or recording games, bring a battery pack. Electrical outlets are limited and mainly located near the entrance. If you grab food from the snack bar, there are picnic-style tables, but they fill up fast--especially when travel clubs claim them. All in all, Draft Sports Complex delivers a strong tournament experience. Come prepared, bring cash, arrive early, and plan ahead--and you'll have a great time supporting your athlete.

Over the years, my daughter and I have been fortunate to build meaningful relationships that have grown into what feels like an extended family. The owner responds to every review pretending the business is something other than what it truly is. I get it, he wants to protect his profit machine. Maybe he should get better coaches, listen to parent concerns, and focus on the business rather than only being reactive when reviews are posted on Yelp. When complaints are raised to the admin, they are ignored, some parents were actually told they should just drop their kids off and not attend practices, that way they have nothing to see and complain about. In other words, "just pay us your money, drop your kid off and go away." This place is a joke! Update: to the owner: your admin team are very aware of the complaints raised by multiple parents on our team, including one other who posted here. Overall front staff is nice as they check you in and there are recent deals for new members or for add ons. I do like the classes that they offer here, but it has been a few months where they had a hard time finding an aqua fit instructor. I really like these classes but if the instructors aren't good, it is hard to follow along to the music as well as the choreography. At least it is one hour class where I can get a good workout. Their cycling classes are good and fill up fast. It is hard for me to stay for an hour as those bike seats just aren't comfortable but I do my best and leave when my derriere hurts.
