Ice Age Meals is no longer in Caughlin. I think their new location is in the north valleys, but I ordered my food online, so I never saw a physical location. I don't like to give local companies bad reviews, but I spent a lot of money on these meals and I'm super unimpressed. The meals were expensive! $14-16 each and they were not worth it. They were pretty bland and were all rice with hardly any meat. I will give them credit for how easy their ordering and delivery process is. Since I'm local someone just came by and dropped off my meals for free. But you'd better make sure you're home when they deliver or it gets left on your porch and could thaw if you're not there. read more

During the Covid-19 shelter in place, I decided to work on getting fit. I found as many local options as I could. I also learned to meal prep my own groceries by seeing the layout of these companies. I kept seeing billboards for Ice Age Meals and decided to try it! I have only tried a few dishes and my roommate has tried a few. Meal planning is interesting for us because I need to lose weight and he wants to build muscle. He needs calories, I don't. I don't have a specific diet, I believe I am just doing clean eating! All the meals from Ice Age, with pork belly, are terrific. My roommate is a big fan. When we order, that is mainly what he gets. So far, my favorite is the Fajita Pie. Saw these guys on Shark Tank and decided to give them a try. To my surprise they are local and their food is either Paleo or Keto. If you're a Reno local, then no delivery charge. I'm back on a Keto diet, so I tried the smoked pork and beef brisket. Oven is the best way to heat them up. I tried microwaving my first dish, but it burned it. I kinda thought 8 mins was too much lol The food is restaurant quality! I was pleasantly surprised and will be a life long customer. I first found out about Ice Age Meals a few years ago at the Nugget Rib Cook Off and found it to be my favorite dry rub. Luckily, they were selling the Super Radical Rib Rub and decided to pick up a bottle. I've found this to be a must have kitchen rub for any pork or rib related dish and was running awfully low with the upcoming BBQ season beginning getting ready to start. I had the pleasure of meeting Jonathan today who was incredibly friendly and helpful. Although I haven't had the opportunity to try their frozen meals yet, based upon the customer service that I received from Jonathan today I am looking forward to trying them in the near future. Ice Age sells quality frozen "paleo" meals. I saw the sign as I was driving on McCarran and vaguely remember it from sharktank. The store is located across from Wells Fargo. It is a quiet store with frozen dinners in freezers. There is a yummy food smell in the store. I assume that they cook and package the food here. They offer a delivery service for their meals, $10 for one or $100 for twelve meals. I tried the butternut squash lasagna, since it was the featured dish on sharktank. Since they are local, I was able to purchase it at the store instead of signing up for their delivery service. I like instant gratification. The dinner is packaged like any other TV dinner, black tray with plastic wrap covering on top. They recommend that you defrost it in the refrigerator the night before, then heat it in the microwave or oven like other frozen dinners. The portion is standard, not very big. They use quality ingredients. Taste: It tasted good. Like healthy good. You can't really compare it to a "cheat day" meal. It taste similar to one of my diet meal preps. The veggies did not have a canned taste like frozen meals often do. My review is based on one meal though. I read some good reviews on the curry chicken meatballs, but it comes with rice. Rice is not paleo in my book, but I'm not the paleo police and many will argue that it is paleo friendly. They do state "paleo and rice" on the package. Overall, it is nice to have a couple of these in the freezer to prevent from falling off the wagon when you're too lazy to go to the store or cook. It is kind of pricey for what you get, but like with many things, the cost of quality or convenience comes with a cost. I don't see myself eating this all the time but it is nice to have for lazy days. I'd probably consider getting the delivery service if I didn't cook, but I cannot justify the cost because I do cook. I would give them more stars if I could!!! These meals are very tasty and sooo easy for busy weeknights. I tend to cook more than eating out because we are picky, we eat these 2-5 nights a week. We just had their holiday smokehouse special for our company lunch and everyone raved about the best BBQ ever! I personally do not like turkey and had 2 servings plus saved some for home... The icing on the cake is they are a local company and its extremely healthy! They have free local delivery and its pretty quick. They also have generous coupons they send out if you join their newsletter. I prefer to thaw overnight and bake in the oven, use a thermometer to double check its gotten hot since overnight isn't always enough. I like to add fresh chopped onion, or hot sauce with other garnish to dress it up. read more

I can see there a those who weren't impressed with the meals. I can understand that if you are used to your typical frozen meals, even the so called 'healthy' frozen brands like Amy's you'll see they are loaded with chemicals which is what makes it taste so good. One person said, even her dog wouldn't even it the ribs. Probably saved this lady a hefty vet bill because dogs should never eat cooked bones. Cooked bones of any kind, splinter into shards that can cause choking and serious damage to the dog's mouth, throat, or intestines. Now for my review. I'm going to preface this by saying that I am a pretty picky eater. I think of food more as medicine than pleasure, so I realize my palette is used to bland diet. I I scrupulously studied the ingredients in Ice Age meals to make sure no canola, vegetable, corn, safflower oils, and chemicals were used. In fact, some of the ingredients had no oil whatsoever, hence the fat is coming from the animal protein only. So when I received the Ice Age post card in the mail, I was pretty excited to try them. I was glad to see that the beef is grass fed, not sure if they beef is hormone free or not but since its a small portion, I'm not going to worry. The grass fed trip with yams is my favorite. Yams are a good source of fiber and potassium. I also liked the Grass Fed Barbacoa with Tomatillo Salsa. I added a little cilantro and squeezed on some lemon juice which added a lot of flavor! Even my husband likes these meals and is now the one shopping for them. Normally anything microwaved just isn't as good as baked but I was surprised that these meals microwave beautifully. Four minutes on high with package top on, then four more minuets without. I find I'm quite full and sometimes cannot finish the portion. I don't think I would want to eat these every night but 2-3 times a week gives me a break and I can stick to my anti-inflammatory eating. I don't think you can go from a traditional western diet to Ice Age very easily. The chemicals in processed foods are put there to hack your brain, so Ice Age meals may be too bland at first but is pretty good for frozen clean eating. read more

After eating like shit at work for way too long, I decided I needed to make some changes in what and how I eat. At home I can usually make something that is along the lines of Paleo or at least pretty good for us. When I am at work I tend to graze on poor quality foods or go for fast food style eats in a pinch. This led me to think there had to be a better alternative than what my body was becoming accustomed to. After looking into several meal types from various companies, I came upon a fantastic local choice that uses excellent quality ingredients. The selections have a great variety of flavors, whether you want, American, Hispanic, Asian or Indian they seem to have something for just about everyone. Keep an open mind, as there are lots of healthy ingredients that go into each of the meals. If you don't want a health conscious alternative to the daily grind, look elsewhere. Grass fed beef, organic vegetables and great spices go into each meal. Additionally, I am amazed at the consistency. When you get a "Thai Meatball Curry" it is the same every time. On top of everything else, they are EASY! Let it thaw overnight, then break open the top of the meal when you are ready to eat and pop it in the microwave for 7 minutes. You can cook in a conventional oven if you are so inclined. Everything is always spic and span whenever I stop in to refill our freezer. The storefront is always super organized, super clean and the crew seems to always have a smile on their faces. I generally work with Jonathan, who seems to run the front end of the business for "Paleo Nick" of Crossfit Culinary fame. I LOVE this food. It's the only frozen food I legit crave and think about when I don't have it in my freezer. My husband and I legit get annoyed when the other takes the last of a meal. All of the meals are made with quality, simple ingredients, and each one has such a delicious and distinct flavor. The variety of different meals is amazing and means you'll never get bored, and the amount of vegetables in most of them means you're fueling your body with great nutrients. The only downside is the price, but they run very frequent sales (usually around holidays throughout the year), so I always make a point to stock up; I always miss the meals when I've run out! Also, I wish they included other nutrition information on the package, but maybe this will come in the future. Well, I waited a long time to order and should have researched reviews first. Thai meatball was tough, chewy and watery to the point that the parsnips was soup. Very possibly frozen for months. No flavor and this meal made my girlfriend gag and still disgust is both and we ate it 3 days ago. The butternut squash lasagnas meat had a gamey taste, the tri-tip was tougher than jerkey, the turkey chilli was grainy and the butternut squash was crunchy. I received 2 of some meals and I threw away the second thai meatball. I had one lemon pepper chicken with rice and it was the best of all. However, the chicken was overcooked and was missing the lemon pepper seasoning. A real waste of $150.00, but it won't happen again. Now I know why they have sales so often. I think Ice Age Meals is a great idea if you're not too picky of an eater and you're a very busy person who doesn't have time to cook at home. Otherwise, it's not really worth the cost in my opinion. I was on a paleo kick for a good 6 months with an occasional cheat meal here and there. I was stoked to find a local paleo company that made frozen entrees that are good for being on-the-go. For about $12 per meal, the portion size is great and even fills up my boyfriend. As for me, I can only eat half before I find myself bored of what I'm eating. The flavor is meh, I personally think the meals need more seasoning/sauce. My favorite is the Chipotle Chicken Tinga w/ Rice but even then I have to smother it with sriracha for extra flavor. I'm not a huge squash fan but to my surprise, my second favorite meal is the Butternut Squash Lasagna. I know every microwave is different when it comes to heat settings, however the cooking instructions still seem a bit off on a few meals. If I follow the instructions exactly, sometimes my meal is way over cooked and the meat becomes extremely dry or it'll be the opposite and my meal will still be frozen in the center. read more

We've now ordered two large 48-meal boxes from Ice Age Meals and so we have tried most of the meals. Some weren't our favorite (Turkey Lasagna), but some are amazing: Grass-fed Tri-Tip with Yams, Smoked Brisket, Smoked Chicken with Garlic Fries, Pork Carnitas with Yams!!! But, I think the Huli Huli Chicken is my all-time favorite! We are a super busy family and I love not having to worry about meal prep or clean up, while still eating healthy, macro-balanced meals. read more

Absolutely awful tasting & disappointing!! We bought 6 meals & were excited for something new. We have 3 teen boys who will eat almost anything & we all came to the same conclusion, throw it away! Horrible!! With a variety to choose from, we were all sharing our meals hoping at least one would be edible. Overpriced, fatty meat! The chicken was even fatty. The Thai meatballs were the worst. The meals heat unevenly, you get an extremely hot bite and then cold meat or potatoes. Even the potatoes were bland & inedible. Waste of money, we threw them all away & drove to the Mexican restaurant down the street. I think these 5 star reviews must be friends or associates. Sharks were right. These guys just aren't ready for prime time for a business perspective. Saw the show thought the food looked good, and it is good. I ordered the Shark Tank sampler. No word from the company for 2 days. Sent a query asking about when my order would ship. Got an email back saying would ship in the next day and it did. Food showed up. Was supposed to be two of every item. It wasn't got several items in groups of three. There was no interaction to ask me about my preferences or a notification that they were out of items. So of the seals were broken, which limits the viability of the food in the freezer over time. Emailed them two days ago to alert them to the issue. No response. Its just not good business to "bait & switch" and not tell some one when are out of stock (or perhaps it's just a shipping mistake). However, when the customer notifies of an issue, you should at least acknowledge the email, if not to only apologize (or take the opportunity to correct your process). I can only imagine the boost, that a firm gets when put on Shark Tank. However, it appears these guys just aren't prepared yet. As, I said food was good. However, at $10 or more per frozen meal, I expect good food and reliable service. I bought one of each of the meals from the store. I am eating the Super Radical Tri-Tip with Yams as I write this. Every one of the meals (it seems) is tomato based and the amount of pepper in each meal turns me off. I can understand that the Chili meal would have pepper but even it was to hot for my tastes. The Chili would have been fantastic if they had backed off a little bit on the spices. They need to back off on the pepper on every meal. Everyone has pepper at home; with salt, and we know how to season to taste. What gives? Are they trying to hide the fact that without everything drowned in pepper that the meals would have no flavor? Paleo is hard to cook for. We are Paleo and I wanted so much to like the food from this store. The quality of ingredients was excellent. Store and food presentation - excellent. But please, eliminate the heavy/spicy seasoning and let us do it! When and if you do please respond to this yelp I.A.M. so that I can try your food again. I have only tried one other company for a ready meal athlete food service. Ice Age meals tastes OK, however their price is way too expensive for their meals. I could have a healthy steak meal from a local restaurant vs nuking something in a microwave. Their packaging is really on point however. I received my meals still frozen. I just don't see this as a long term meal alternative for the home athlete at it's price point. Someone who eats 4 times a day at the minimum, it's going to add up quick. About the only thing you are capitalizing on is time and convenience. Given the scenario placing a restaurant order for food that is prepared on order, I really don't see the point. What a weird and unpleasant sponge-like texture and it's chewy like boot leather. If you insist on paleo, you can do much better elsewhere. Eat some jerky, peanuts, tomatoes, and squash from Costco. The variations of meals taste amazing with all types of healthy seasoning and spices! $10 is cheap compared to how much I would drive around, cook and package my meal prep. These meals are really great. I've tried about 6 different ones and I'm confused by any negative reviews regarding taste. They taste great-- I was surprised by how good they taste considering they are frozen meals. Favorites are lasagna, beef barbacoa, pork carnitas. Only one I haven't cared for as much were the chicken meatballs. Very healthy and tasty and awesome way to eat paleo and healthier when you don't have a ton of time for paleo meal prep. read more

So I wanted to love this place and had high hopes. Ordered at least one of each item to try it out. A few of the dishes are totally delicious. The ribs and the tri tip with yams are especially on point. However, a few of the dishes are absolutely horrible. I heard people comment too much pepper, but I found most dishes to be under seasoned and barely or not spicy. Stay away from the meatballs in any dish. So I would order maybe 3 of the dishes again and see value in them at the $10 price point, probably in large quantities too. Now I actually prefer Tastefully Paleo for $6, but these are great to supplement with for variety. Having Thrown out so many, I wouldn't get a sampler here. I am sorry to say that after watching Shark Tank and hearing their delicious response of the butternut squash lasagna...I rushed and ordered 12 dinners. After eating 4 different dinners, my only thought is the sharks must've only had 1 bite. Besides the lasagna which is less than mediocre the rest of the meals are hard to choke down. All the flavor pallet seems to be the same (tomato,weird spice, and chili) despite different meals. Even Nutri System is delicious compared to this. I wanted to eat healthy with low sodium. Back to the drawing board for me. I guess I am out of a $150, cause i will be tossing the rest. I try to support new and growing businesses, but I suggest Ice Age Meals to go back to the test kitchen and get a new chef or you will be bankrupt soon. read more

I can't believe people actually think the food tastes good. Most of the meals are not edible. I'm typically not very picky about my food. If it's healthy, I can usually stomach a boring meal. These are not healthy. The website​ says they only use enough sodium to taste good. 700-1100 mg of sodium is NOT healthy and doesn't make the meals taste good. read more
