This is by far my favorite place. Better than Yogurtland and Tutti Frutti combined! This place is also a lot closer then the places that I mentioned above. This place is located right next to Kinders (which I never noticed) the map on Yelp is a little of on the location on this place so that is why I decided to mention what it was next to. There is plenty of parking. The place is very clean and unlike Yogurtland and Tutti Frutti there is a lot of room to sit (inside and outside) so you can enjoy your yogurt. There are different cup sizes (unlike the other places) & they even have family size! Which is awesome if you are big yogurt addict like myself! :) There are different kinds of toppings , syrups and fruits. They are all neatly organized and its is very clean! Which makes it even more appealing to look at and want to taste. The cashier was pretty efficient and very friendly, which makes for a better experience. This is your average, small business fro-yo joint. It was clean, and they had a nice collection of flavors (although not as many as a Yogurt Land). The toppings section was organized and clean, and they did have a nice selection in this area. The cashier wasn't too friendly, but that doesn't bother me. I don't expect A-class service when I'm buying $4 fro-yo. Plenty of parking, as it is in a major grocery shopping strip. Probably the go-to dessert place for the area, as there are quite a few restaurants in the shopping strip. This place was delicious. We had been waiting for a place with yummy yogurt, good prices, and good toppings to pop up and voila ... here it is. The yogurt selection is good and it's uniquely creamy and tasty. The toppings were also good, especially the authentically fresh fruit that was so cleanly on display. The owner came out and chatted and we thought he was really nice. Also, I'm not sure the details, but I believe Ian (pronounced 'eye'-'n') was their son. I'm a fro-yo fan. I often visit Yogurtland and Coco Swirl. But recently I tried Ian's out of laziness. I didn't want to drive the ten minutes to either of the other two locations and battle with their crappy parking situations so in less than three minutes I found myself at Ian's and parked! Initially I was bummed at the smaller selection of flavors than most other places. But once I tried the cake batter I was hooked! I have to admit I thought it was better than Coldstone's. My friend got rootbeer float and said it tasted like an actual rootbeer float. Including a slight fizz like it was carbonated. Ian's has nailed their fro-yo! Incredible flavor that actually taste like the real thing (lemon, cake batter, berries, etc.) They do offer a punch card which is nice since I'm sure I'll be going there rather than the other places from now on. They do take credit cards with no minimum purchase and no fees. And I found their prices to be reasonable. The staff seems younger but super friendly. The interior was clean in addition to the outside eating area. No sticky tables or floors. Why are you still reading this?! Go! Go get some fro-yo and see for yourself! Hurry! read more

Perfect for warm summery east bay days. Loved the cleanliness, the variety of flavors and toppings! Location is closer than driving all the way to Coco Swirl in PHill. I like that there's actually tables and chairs and outdoor seating to enjoy your delicious concoctions, whatever it may be. The froyo is very creamy, not runny compared to some places I've been. I went to Ian's when they first opened and whined ever since then to return. I finally did more recently and enjoyed an original + pineapple swirl. I couldn't visually distinguish the two, but I tasted just enough pleasant pineapple citrus. I topped it with mochi - I love their soft rainbow pillows just as much the first time I had them. Ian's is the best thing to happen to Martinez since the railroad was built in 1972. Seriously. This place is awesome - just in time for summer! It is an inexpensive, delicious treat and fun for the whole family. There's nothing kids enjoy more than making their own ice cream bowls with a variety of flavors to choose from and tons of toppings. The best part? Ian's Yogurt is non-fat or low-fat and there are also non-dairy and sugar free options. Since discovering Ian's, we've been there several times a week. It's a great place. read more

I appreciate that this local shop is always clean and tidy. There is a large topping selection, including a large selection of sauces. There are usually 6-8 flavors available. Parking is pretty easy and there is a generous amount of outdoor seating. Most of the employees I have seen there are teenagers. I can't say that I have seen any employee twice. My Quick tip for this place. "Beware of the locals, martinez people are disgusting." I went in here because I had an especially strong craving for froyo. I knew before I came here that this place is the worst froyo place within 20 miles, but it was also the closest and thats why I ended up here. Every time I have come here there have always been ridiculous people inside, but thats to be more blamed on the location than the actual establishment. There was a lady behind me singing loudly to herself. I kept turning around thinking that there was some sort of weird music playing to provide us with some ambiance, but no, this crazy lady is reading a newspaper whilst singing showtunes. SHUT UP. This lady next to me was holding a baby that could have only been a few months old and was clearly not beyond cooing and aweing in the conversation department, she was standing in the way talking about each individual topping she was putting on her frozen yogurt to the baby in the most annoying voice ever. Thankfully she wasnt blocking the specific toppings I wanted, but holy cow, why dont people move out of the way? I dont have all day lady! Whatever. Then I move past the lady in line because she clearly had a lot more topics to cover with baby before she was going to willingly move and then the lady decides to stand right next to me and let her stupid baby cough all over me. What a loser! As for the actual yogurt, Its really icy and watery and not nearly as creamy as a lot of other places. Definitely my least favorite of all the bay area places. The only thing this place is good for is the fact that its up the street from me and an easy trip if I just want some froyo. If it weren't for that then I would never come here. read more

Y.U.M! Inexpensive, and delicious. I love these self-serve fro-yo places! I'm the type that gets all the fruity flavors, and then dumps berries and kiwi all over the top. The fruit is always fresh and ripe, and most of the fro-yo flavors are actually tart, not the frozen ice cream trying to pass itself off as frozen yogurt. Ian's could possibly be one of the best things to ever happen to me! The people are always very very nice and always greet you when you come in. Everything about the yogurt is incredible. Ever since I moved out of Redwood City, I have been searching for a place that compares with my old favorite frozen yogurt joint. I think I found it. The flavors are perfect. Last night, they had a red velvet flavor, and it was to die for. They also recently had a mint flavor which was delicious, I never would have thought that there could be a yummy mint fro-yo, but I was wrong. What is especially good about Ian's is the consistency of the yogurt. Its so smooth, no clumps, no chunks of ice. And I feel like they master their flavors. They are always perfect. They always have the staples: vanilla and chocolate, but they switch it up with new tart and regular flavors also. Prices are fair and good selection of fresh toppings too. Overall, this place is great, and its in a convenient location with lots of parking. I will definitely continue to come here as often as I can! read more

Decent frozen yogurt especially since Martinez lacks choices. Limited variety of flavors but lots of toppings to select from. The employees try to keep it clean and monitor people but really you can't parent other people's kids and that's the only reason I cant give more stars. I get grossed out at self serve food places where people lack manners, good hygiene habits or control over their kids. I've seen kids using their hands to eat directly from the toppings and even stick their fingers in the yogurt dispensers and lick them ick!! Nice to have a frozen yogurt place for those infrequent trips to glamorous Martinez, and this one isn't bad at all. Compared to the benchmark Yogurtland, the yogurt here is less creamy and a bit more icy, and costs about a nickel an ounce more. The fruit isn't as fresh, but the dry toppings are fine. My big suggestion for improvement: water! No water fountain or cooler in sight, never a good thing when a business is selling sugar. After catching 'The Interview' across the way at Contra Costa Cinemas, we made a quick stop at the grocery store and saw Ian's Yogurt and decided to give it a try. My initial reaction was I was a bit disappointed in their limited selection of 10 flavors. Given that I rarely get frozen yogurt, I'm used to see endless flavors when I do indulge in frozen yogurt. Ian's Yogurt has three sizes: kiddie, medium, and large. As with any yogurt store, it's sold by the ounce and Ian's Yogurt currently runs at .45 cents an ounce. After choosing your size and flavor, you can choose all the sweet toppings you'd like from sprinkles to chocolates. Before you check out, you're given the option of topping it off with fresh fruit. Overall, it's your standard frozen yogurt shop with a few indoor and outdoor tables. The taste was good, not too sweet and the toppings were all fresh. A nice mom and pop business that could benefit from one or two machines to add 2 to 4 new flavors. I had to mention to him that friendly customer service is not that hard a task for the 30 secs he interacts with people. Mmmmm mmmm mmmm. I thought milkshakes can't be done right with frozen yogurt, but this place had me convinced otherwise. After getting a taste of the original tart and luau, I knew that I had to have them as a duo in my shake. The original tart at this place is pretty damn good since it's not too sweet like the one at yogurtland and pretty much any other pinkberry-spin off chains. The luau though. I'm obsessed with that fragrant pineapple scent and the slight sweetness of it. With these two whipped up as a swirl for my shake, a heavenly match was made in my mouth. I can't comment too much on any other flavors since I fell hard and fast for these two, but it seems like they'd be good as well. It's been a while since I've been to a froyo place other than pinkberry, but I could've sworn that most of them charges at least 60 cents per lb. At Ian's, a cup of froyo goes for only 51 cents a lb. My large milkshake was only $5ish. To me, that's a legit price range to help me keep my sweettooth sweetened without breaking my wallet. I didn't really see what types of fillings they have for the froyo, but the cart for that seems to be a bit more conservative in selection compared to the ones I've seen at other places. Next time I'm in Martinez, I'll have to make a visit and find out for sure. read more

I was super bummed out by our experience at Ian's mainly because of the price. My two young sons and I all got the "kiddie" size and it came to $17!! What in the world?! We didn't even have a lot of toppings and our cups were not that full. We were recently at Yogurtland and paid $8 for the same amount. We also asked for a sample and the employee actually came out from behind the counter and gave us the smallest sized sample I've ever seen - instead of just letting me do it myself. I do appreciate mom/pop businesses, but won't be back to this one. Way too overpriced for what you get. As of today it was .50 an ounce, but I don't know if their scale might be broken and overcharging people! read more

I'm changing my five stars down to two. Last time I went with my two children I spent about $15 on 3 yogurts! I think that's ridiculous considering my daughters was a kids size and my son and I had a small. I only got syrup for topping. They weighed all three and that's the price it came to. I won't be going back. I would rather drive further and go to yogurt park where you get a huge amount of yogurt and topping for much cheaper!!!
