You order from a tablet at the front, but their service was friendly and helpful when delivering the food, and there is plenty of seating out front. We've also had items delivered a couple times, and they're always well packed and in great condition (not melted) when we receive them. All in all we'll definitely keep ordering from Ice Monster and have been loving their frosty wares!

Absolutely the best way to cool down! I was thrilled to discover Ice Monster in Walnut Creek! Not only can I get an authentic Taiwanese shaved ice, but they have an incredible variety of ice flavors (strawberry, mango, green tea, etc) and toppings. They also have boba tea (which also originated in Taiwan), milk tea, regular ice cream, freshly cooked Chinese finger foods, and more. The place has tables inside and out and is always immaculate. I also really appreciate that they don't add the problem of landfills overflowing with plastics! They use real dishes and real silverware. I don't know of any other place that conscientious. I have been going here for 8 years. It was started by a couple from Taiwan and the owners the last several years are from China. They keep the place open seven days a week, but even with that grueling work schedule, the customer service is always fantastic. They go out of their way to keep their customers happy. Apparently, I'm not the only one who loves the place, because when school gets out, the place is filled with teenagers and families with children. It's a great place to hang out. We used the kiosk to order so not too much interaction with staff; however, the staff working to prepare our order worked quickly. The interior of the place was cute and modern, plus had a couple of tables with few chairs + a long bench kind of table--definitely a great place to hang out with friends/family. We were warmly welcomed when we entered. The inside had an old fashioned vibe, with large black and white checkered floors and a few sofa fountains for making old fashioned ice cream sodas. They sell Mitchell's ice cream from San Francisco and offered a variety of flavors. They also had a lovely display of cookies, cinnamon rolls and muffin tops and a refrigerated case filled with delicious looking pies. The pies and goodies are made in house. The pies are what caught our eye. They came in a 3" bite size and a 5" size that would be perfect for sharing. The varieties of pies they offered were: Key Lime Pie, Banana Cream Pie, Chocolate Cream Pie, Pecan Pie, Dutch Apple and Mixed Berry. They also sell coffees, fountain drinks, sandwiches and salads. You can also get an ice cream sundae, floats, ice cream sodas and Italian sodas. Since we were having dinner next door, I asked if could buy the pieces and have them kept in their refrigerator until after we had our dinner. They had no problem with that. We decided to order the 5" Key Lime Pie, the 5" Banana Cream Pie and the 5" Mixed Berry Pie. We came back after dinner and they had our pies ready for us to eat. All three pies were amazing. They were so good. My favorite was the Key Lime Pie and my husband loved the Mixed Berry Pie. The Banana Cream Pie was delicious, as well, and had chunks of fresh banana in it. We haven't had good pie like this in a while. We were blown away at how good they were. I definitely will return for more pies, the next time I'm in the area. But then a little while later, passing by again, I had the delicious idea of buying a pint of it to eat on my own schedule. Pints are $12. But when I went to pay, I was informed that if I just buy two I get one free! And that's how I ended up walking out with 3 pints of Humphry Slocombe ice cream: Vietnamese Coffee, Peanut Butter Fudge Ripple and Milk and Cookies. Cold Stone Creamery happened to be the only place still open until 10 PM, and I urgently needed a cake with a candle. It genuinely felt like a make-or-break moment. Not only did I get the cake and the candle, but the employee helping me asked what the occasion was. After hearing the story, he offered to add a custom message to the cake, even though I hadn't asked for it. That small gesture meant so much and made the person receiving the cake incredibly happy. It was the kind of service that absolutely deserved a great tip. Thank you for going above and beyond. Unfortunately, I don't know the employee's name, but he was working the evening shift on June 23, 2026, and was a tall guy. I truly hope the managers recognize and appreciate employees like him, they make all the difference.

Since this item is not permanent, I decided to order online to reserve in case they run out. When I arrived, a friendly female employee explained how they ran out of the cake flavor that I ordered but an employee from another location was on their way to deliver and would take 10 minutes. I did not mind waiting. After I returned, my cake was ready and a nice male employee gave me my order. Before I tried the ice cream cake, I was unsure if I would like the almonds with the cake because that type of nut is not a part of Dubai chocolate. But the almonds paired well with the pistachio sauce, roasted kadayif, Pistachio Chocolate Bar ice cream, and chocolate cake. The ice cream cake was sweet and slightly salty. I was also surprised how fluffy the chocolate cake was. Because there is no other place near my home that sells a Dubai chocolate cake, I am definitely going to miss this Cake in a Box flavor.
