Now I understand why Ian has so many 5-star reviews. Ian and his buddy, Mike, moved some large furniture for me and did an excellent job! From day one Ian was very responsive and timely in his communications. On the day of the move, he was punctual, professional, and friendly. He and Mike were so careful with my furniture -- they treated it like it was their own. Not only was my furniture handled perfectly (not a scratch), Ian even gave me some hardware and room-arrangement suggestions! They charged me a very fair rate *and only for the labor performed* (not that B.S. method moving companies use in which they charge for 3 hours even if they're finished in 2). I was going to try and move a refrigerator I had purchased on Craigslist from Pasadena to my 2nd floor walk-up apartment in W Hollywood. Naturally none of my friends wanted to have any part in carrying a refrig up 20 stairs. I found Ian on Yelp. He arrived on time - - despite the usual Friday afternoon LA traffic. He was professional, friendly and despite taking longer than expected to remove the refrigerator doors (to get it into my kitchen) he still honored the price he quoted. Ian was recommended by Small Moving Company to move some shelves for me from Burbank to Los Feliz. Craigslist can be challenging when you are sharing a car that is probably too small for anything you find on Craigslist. Ian was awesome. He met me in Burbank (I took two buses there as well as a pitstop at one creepy-ass Starbucks), picked up my shelves, and gave me a ride back. And it wasn't even a weird ride with a stranger. He pointed out the good bike routes, told me all the ways to get into Griffith Park. I felt like an asshole when I didn't have enough for a tip. Not my style, but it was a weird day. The Starbucks experience really threw me off. And just being in Burbank on foot in general. Neither here nor there, but there were moments when I felt like I had walked into an "Unsolved Mysteries" reenactment. Bottom line, I loved Ian. He was so friendly and accommodating. On the day of the move, 11/19/11, they showed up on time, were very efficient, used mattress bags, and were very professional and courteous throughout the whole ordeal. I had multiple issues with Ian's Movers: (TL;DR They scratched my floor during the move and refused to pay for repair or fix it.) 1. They did not tell us that their pricing was $117 per hour only if paid in cash - the day of, we were informed the day of the move that it was $127 per hour if paid via card. 2. The move itself was generally fine - they got the job done. They were careful to wrap the furniture nicely so it was protected. HOWEVER, they scratched the floor of my new apartment. While I was hanging around as they moved my stuff, I saw one mover drop a piece of furniture and say "Oh shoot!" After the chaos of the move, I examined the floor where it was dropped, and there was a scratch that couldn't be wiped away. There were additional scratches located on other parts of the floor. 3. I understand that accidents happen and damage can occur during a move. My biggest issue is what happened next. When I contacted the company about the scratches, I asked how it would be remedied. They insisted that the movers told them they did not scratch my floor. When I informed them that I was present and saw the scratch happen in the moment, they huffed and puffed and said they'd come back to me. They went radio silent until my boyfriend very firmly communicated to them days later that they needed to remedy the issue. Shortly after, they sent a handyman to look at the damage. The handyman attempted to wipe away the scratches, which could not be wiped away with water or chemicals. To add insult to injury, the handyman suggested that we simply tell our landlord that the scratches already existed when we moved in. We were offended that we were asked to lie, but also upset that this "solution" could result with us getting stuck with the bill upon moving out down the road. Despite emailing the company once more regarding the result of the handyman visit, I received no further communication from them. There has been no offer to fix or reimburse for the cost of repairing the scratched floor. read more

Fantastic move! We had three desks at two different locations to move to a third office space, all outside Ian's normal service area. When he quoted us his very reasonable rate, we hired him. Ian handled the move with professionalism, skill and courtesy, despite the record breaking heat that left me exhausted just stepping outside. Not only did he carefully wrap each piece to protect them from damage, he handled each desk with the care you would hope for from a mover, but so rarely see. When the largest desk, a three hundred pound monstrosity, wouldn't fit through the office doors, he took them off, got the desk through, and reattached all three doors in a matter of moments. To top it off, he was available ahead of schedule, and waited patiently to meet us while we finished preparations. This review is only for my experience with the woman who answers the phone. Based on reviews and website, I am confused. I was looking to have an appliance moved. The woman who answered phone was less than friendly and said they only do full-service moves with a 3 hour minimum. Period. I explained that it seems possible based on the website and reviews. No explanation, just a rude "no" and quickly dismissed. Maybe they changed their services, which is fine, but it clearly states they will move appliances on their site and plenty of reviews here on yelp indicating they were successfully hired for just that. I hired him to move a *very* long sofa from a friend's apartment to mine. The move was executed quickly and gracefully, despite there being a ton of obstructions and narrow passageways on both ends. This review is way long overdue! Ian and his friend Steve helped me move from the Valley to Hollywood way back in June 2013, and I could not have been happier with their help! All I had to do was get a U-Haul and they took care of the rest! Ian brought all the necessary materials and equipment, including plastic and blankets, and moved everything into the truck with care and efficiency. Took a lot of care with my things with wrapping extra blanketing...everything. Rudy is the lead guy and he's amazing!!! I was making the move from Burbank to Sherman Oaks and needed my refrigerator moved (doors taken off, through narrow doorways and corridors, down stairs, etc) and an old fridge moved. When looking for a moving service for items like this, I came across Ian. I was surprised to see someone so well reviewed on yelp; I hoped he would live up to the hype. He so totally did! Setting up an appointment was easy and was scheduled within a couple of days (I was worried that I should have scheduled it a month in advance or something). He was friendly and kind. His friend, Joe, who aided him with this move was nice too. Very down-to-earth, well-mannered guys. We had a nice conversation about Marvel movies too while they skillfully and gently wrapped my fridge up. The whole exchange was perfect! Me: single, moving by myself because I was a) moving 2 months before I was ready b) then actual move pushed up 10 days. Super stressed out between crazy full time studio job and juggling freelance music pr work, waiting to get paid. Car needs repairs. He was so efficient before I even met him and I loved it. He followed through to the letter. I hired Ian to disconnect, move and reconnect my humongous LG Washer/Dryer as well as to dis/reassemble a somewhat complex CalKing platform bed frame - two jobs that many would consider a bit daunting. Ian even noticed that a bolt was missing on one of the feet and made a recommendation to balance it during reassembly - who bothers to do that? Ian did.
