Needed some muscle to pick up and deliver a heavy dining room table and cabinet. The crew at Ian's Movers worked quickly and professionally and had the move complete in short order. Each piece had a glass top but they carefully wrapped them in blankets and plastic wrap and they arrived without a scratch. Will use these guys again when I need to bring home more furniture. Thanks for the move guys! read more

Helpful. Communicative. Problem solver. Goes above and beyond. I hired him to move a refrigerator up 2 flights of stairs only to find out it didn't fit. Most movers would've hung up on me when they found out I didn't have an elevator, but he figured out a solution without making me feel foolish, even after my embarrassing measuring skills. I've used him several times since and can't recommend him enough. It's nice to have someone who goes above and beyond in their profession these days. read more

I needed help moving a fridge and sectional couch from several different locations and upon reading Ian's Yelp reviews I felt that he was the best choice. Ian showed up on time as planned and wrapped my fridge carefully with blankets and shrink wrap material, belted it to a dolly and carefully brought it down the stairs and load it onto his truck. As we move from location to location he already had all the addresses mapped out on his mobile phone so I didn't have to remind him where to go. The fridge was an "easy move" for him. I don't even want to imagine how long it would have taken me to move it up and down the stairs. Once he placed the fridge in my apartment he advised me not to plug it in yet due to fluids that would move around during the move. Thank goodness he knew that because there was no way I would have known that. My couch unfortunately was not an easy move into my apartment. He removed the bottom legs of the couch (he came prepared with power tools!) and the door frame was too tight so Ian removed the bottom part of the door frame to create an extra inch of space. Ian and my boyfriend tried so many different angles and option to bring the couch in and I was seriously amazed at his patience and care to not cause any damage to my couch. It took them over half an hour before finally the couch magically slid in. He put the legs back on my couch, vacuumned up the mess the door frame made with the broken splinters. As most my Yelp posts always has, here are the pros and cons: Pros: - On time, reliable, prepared - Experienced - Great with logistics - Patient - Easy going - Affordable prices (it's all listed on his website, no hidden fees) - Takes great care of your appliance/furniture Cons: - None. I highly highly highly recommend Ian The Mover! I would definitely hire him again for future moves. read more

Wow! I didn't realize Ian was on Yelp, that's awesome. OK... let's be honest, it's not like he NEEDS *yet another* 5 Star review but he DESERVES all the 5 star reviews he gets, so I'm gonna add my 2 cents ;) The Mister and I have used Ian for our last 2 moves. He's everything everyone else has said- Professional, friendly, extremely knowledgeable and good at what he does. There's no question that I would refer him to any of my own friends or clients in a pico-second, and that's the highest compliment I can bestow on someone. He's a professional musician and a organized mover, so he's got that perfect mix of creativity and sollutionism. Just the best!! read more

I found Ian on Craigslist about 8 years ago and kept his number in my phone that whole time, just to call up whenever I needed to move something. I also kept it so I could recommend him to friends! That might sound crazy, but he's just that awesome. For example, I got a free couch from my boss, but she lived in Mid-Wilshire and I lived in Long Beach and had a Toyota Corolla. So, I needed someone to bring the couch (a huge sectional with a lounge) all the way to the LBC for me. Ian rented a trailer, got it down to LB for me, and even removed my old couch and put it on the curb, where it disappeared 20 minutes later. I didn't have to lift a finger or deal with any logistics. Yay! Even when my BF and I did a lot of our own moving and packing, I called Ian to help with unloading. He is super fast, comes with all the right equipment and supplies, and basically makes the whole transition less stressful. He knows exactly what he's doing. I just can't say enough about how efficient he is, and his personality and calm, positive demeanor help make moving not a total bitch. We finally said goodbye to LA recently and Ian and his friend helped us load up the truck for Oregon. He carefully wrapped all our furniture in moving blankets and plastic wrap, and our whole life got packed up, nice and neat, in a couple hours. When we got to OR, I hired a couple movers off Craigslist who turned out to be tweakers, and I sure missed and appreciated Ian's professionalism more than ever! A great mover is like a great doctor, dentist, or hair stylist. Difficult to find and even more difficult to replace. Store his number and don't lose it. read more

I CANNOT SAY ENOUGH good things about IAN!!!! Moving to a new apartment I was told my refrigerator would fit. Wrong. I had just a few days to get my side-by-side Amana moved out of my old place... And on a holiday weekend. I opened YELP and searched "refrigerator movers." The first listing was "IAN" -- no "Acme Movers," or "The Appliance Movers" -- just a name "IAN." I couldn't help but laugh. Opened the listing and there's a guy with a couple of head shots. Even the reviews: "I called Ian, he brought a friend..." I thought this was very amusing. But I emailed him, he quoted me, we set a day, on a holiday weekend and a time. Ian showed up right on time. Had everything he needed to wrap the refrigerator up and totally protect it. He was professional, fun to talk to, really really nice guy. But MORE importantly, he did EXACTLY what he said he was going to do. He took the stress out of this entire moving process. HE KNEW WHAT HE WAS DOING, including the little things I NEVER would have thought of. I am so absolutely thrilled that this guy's listing came up on YELP first. I have another appliance moving job coming up... IAN will be my only phone call!!! read more

Ian's Movers reached out to me directly to try to understand what went wrong with my move and how to smooth things out. I'm updating to 4 stars because they wanted to make things right with me, which shows there's some level of customer service. I still don't understand why they didn't want to make things right the day of the move (the mover had called the company to tell them my complaints day of and ask for some form of compensation, told me not to call them directly), but at least there was some follow through. I wish they had gotten it right the first time and had offered adequate compensation before I had to write a 3 star review, but it happens. I can't give a full 5 stars because of the whole situation, but seeing all the other reviews, it sounds like my case is not how things usually go. read more

Last month I bought a fridge off Craigslist and needed it moved from location to location. After a survey of appliance movers on Yelp, I found Ian. Ian was fantastic all the way around! He handled everything gracefully from start to finish. Everything was thoughtfully wrapped up, padded, and strapped down with his own supplies. The woman I bought the fridge from was so impressed with how considerate and helpful he was in her condo, that she asked for his info so she could use him in the future. In addition to packing up the fridge and transporting it to my apartment, he moved my old fridge out to the street corner, and then switched the door handle and hinges on my new fridge for me! Last but definitely not least, Ian is so friendly. We chatted him up the entire time. Thanks, Ian! read more

I had a great experience with this moving company today! I moved 5.5 miles, and the two men assisting me with the move took a total of 2 hours and 15 minutes to complete it. There were a few items that I did not have packed yet because I was behind schedule, but the movers assisted me in getting the boxes packed and taped up! This was my first time ever using a moving company, and I was surprised to see how fast my items were loaded onto the truck and unloaded into my new apartment. The next time I move, I will definitely consider using their services again! read more

Here is a case where Yelp saves the day. My fiancee needed her fridge and bookcase moved to my place. I had nowhere to go. So I did a search on Yelp, and found Ian the Mover. All his ratings were positive. I decided, why not? Ian showed up promptly, took special care of the fridge and bookcase, all the while maintaining a sense of professionalism. Also, he's a cool guy to talk to. I absolutely recommend Ian for any of your small moves. read more

I cannot say enough good things about Ian! Six months ago, I needed help moving a fridge and turned to Yelp. I found Ian and he was such a pleasure to work with. He answered my emails in a timely manner and did an excellent job moving my fridge from Los Feliz to deep in the Valley. Cut to 6 months later when I'm moving again (don't ask!). I bought a beautiful O'Keefe and Merrit stove off of Craig's List and immediately called Ian because I trusted that he would take care of my new-to-me baby. Ian was able to work with my limited window of time and showed up on time and with a second man. They took great care with the stove, wrapping it in blankets & plastic wrap. The move went smoothly & I couldn't have been happier. Ian is a dream to work with and I will definitely be calling him again! read more

I agree with all the other 5-star reviews: Just like he advertises. On time. Professional. Gets the job done. Good prices. Straightforward. Nice. Quick but not rushed. Clear. Cleans up. Ask about forms of payment he receives. I only wish every business ran like Ian's. This guy is great. read more

Now I understand why Ian has so many 5-star reviews. Ian and his buddy, Mike, moved some large furniture for me and did an excellent job! From day one Ian was very responsive and timely in his communications. On the day of the move, he was punctual, professional, and friendly. He and Mike were so careful with my furniture -- they treated it like it was their own. Not only was my furniture handled perfectly (not a scratch), Ian even gave me some hardware and room-arrangement suggestions! They charged me a very fair rate *and only for the labor performed* (not that B.S. method moving companies use in which they charge for 3 hours even if they're finished in 2). These guys took what is normally a very stressful situation and completely removed the stress. I have already recommended them to my friends. read more

How do you spell professional? I-A-N. I have used Ian The Mover not once or twice but several times and I cannot recommend him enough! This is not just 'some guy with a truck and a piece of rope,' this is a professional mover with really good prices. If you need to move one piece of furniture or a whole truck-load of appliances, call Ian. First of all - he doesn't give you a window of time when he may or may not show up...he gives you AN ACTUAL APPOINTMENT TIME and then shows up EXACTLY WHEN HE SAID HE WOULD. He's prepared to move just about anything, carefully wraps and protects your things, ties everything down snug as a bug, is friendly and courteous and - dare I say - he smells nice! I've referred him to friends and they've all loved using him so I am referring to you, fellow Yelpers! Moving sucks. Ian does not! Peace out. read more

I was going to try and move a refrigerator I had purchased on Craigslist from Pasadena to my 2nd floor walk-up apartment in W Hollywood. Naturally none of my friends wanted to have any part in carrying a refrig up 20 stairs. I found Ian on Yelp. He arrived on time - - despite the usual Friday afternoon LA traffic. He was professional, friendly and despite taking longer than expected to remove the refrigerator doors (to get it into my kitchen) he still honored the price he quoted. (it actually took almost an hour longer than he had anticipated ) Moving sucks, no matter how small, but he made it painless. I fully recommend his services and would hire him again in a second! read more

Ian was recommended by Small Moving Company to move some shelves for me from Burbank to Los Feliz. Craigslist can be challenging when you are sharing a car that is probably too small for anything you find on Craigslist. Ian was awesome. He met me in Burbank (I took two buses there as well as a pitstop at one creepy-ass Starbucks), picked up my shelves, and gave me a ride back. And it wasn't even a weird ride with a stranger. He pointed out the good bike routes, told me all the ways to get into Griffith Park. I felt like an asshole when I didn't have enough for a tip. Not my style, but it was a weird day. The Starbucks experience really threw me off. And just being in Burbank on foot in general. Neither here nor there, but there were moments when I felt like I had walked into an "Unsolved Mysteries" reenactment. Bottom line, I loved Ian. He was so friendly and accommodating. Truly great guy who cared about helping a sister out. read more

There are a few things that make for a 5 star review-- and they did well in all aspects but the big thing that made get right to this review after they moved my belongings today was how hard these guys worked and how fast they were. Fast doesn't cover it though-- conscientious, careful, polite and thorough from beginning to end. I'd give em six stars if I could. read more

I called Ian to help me move about 1 bedroom worth of furniture: 1 bed+box springs, 1 dresser, and a few other small items. On the day of the move, 11/19/11, they showed up on time, were very efficient, used mattress bags, and were very professional and courteous throughout the whole ordeal. I wouldn't hesitate to call Ian again for future moves, they did a great job and got it done quickly too. They're a great bet for you if you need to do a small-scale move. read more

Ian is a real Los Angeles gem: punctual, professional, personable, reliable, efficient, and just about every other positive adjective you could apply to a one-man moving outfit. His prices are extremely reasonable, he's a real problem solver when it comes to funny-shaped doorways and stairwells, and he's treated my furniture far more gently than I probably would have. I've used his moving service twice now--the first time after seeing all his stellar reviews here on Yelp, and the second time after my stellar experience with him the first time. He's never let me down! If I have any more small-scale moving jobs that need a bit more muscle and finesse than I can manage on my own, Ian the Mover is at the top of my list. Fantastic move! We had three desks at two different locations to move to a third office space, all outside Ian's normal service area. When he quoted us his very reasonable rate, we hired him. Ian handled the move with professionalism, skill and courtesy, despite the record breaking heat that left me exhausted just stepping outside. Not only did he carefully wrap each piece to protect them from damage, he handled each desk with the care you would hope for from a mover, but so rarely see. When the largest desk, a three hundred pound monstrosity, wouldn't fit through the office doors, he took them off, got the desk through, and reattached all three doors in a matter of moments. To top it off, he was available ahead of schedule, and waited patiently to meet us while we finished preparations. Ian is a friendly, professional mover that I will certainly use again, and recommend to anyone. read more

If you ever need to have a refrigerator or any large appliance or piece of furniture moved and you want it done without any hassle call Ian. I was originally planning on having a friends contractors worker do the move for a mere $75. When he attempted to move the refrigerator with a hand dolly (not nearly big enough to handle a 300 lb refrigerator) I knew it wasn't going to happen and then I found Ian---here on Yelp. So glad I did. He did cost a little more and is worth every penny. He did the job like a real pro. I highly recommend him and would definitely utilize him again in the future. read more

The Gary Eagle team was awesome. Super fast, pros, were nice to my cat. They arrived exactly on time, had every tool needed, and made the entire process of moving immensely better. We hired 2 movers to move from our 2 bedroom house in San Gabriel to a 2nd floor apartment in Studio City. I'm a year overdue with this review, but Ian has (of course) racked up a slew of other five-star reviews in the meantime, so my guilt is moderately assuaged. I hired him to move a *very* long sofa from a friend's apartment to mine. The move was executed quickly and gracefully, despite there being a ton of obstructions and narrow passageways on both ends. From the first contact through to the placement of the sofa (which he was right-on about--man has a good eye!), Ian and his partner the very definition of professionalism. I wouldn't hesitate to hire him again, or recommend him to anyone needing a local move, big or small. (If I could just get him to organize my life for me....) read more

This review is way long overdue! Ian and his friend Steve helped me move from the Valley to Hollywood way back in June 2013, and I could not have been happier with their help! All I had to do was get a U-Haul and they took care of the rest! Ian brought all the necessary materials and equipment, including plastic and blankets, and moved everything into the truck with care and efficiency. There was minimal damage to my furnishings and belongings, as one would expect. I don't think there is truly a "perfect move"...and I've moved MANY times! I will definitely call up Ian again for my future moves...and so should you!!! read more

I was making the move from Burbank to Sherman Oaks and needed my refrigerator moved (doors taken off, through narrow doorways and corridors, down stairs, etc) and an old fridge moved. When looking for a moving service for items like this, I came across Ian. I was surprised to see someone so well reviewed on yelp; I hoped he would live up to the hype. He so totally did! Setting up an appointment was easy and was scheduled within a couple of days (I was worried that I should have scheduled it a month in advance or something). He was friendly and kind. His friend, Joe, who aided him with this move was nice too. Very down-to-earth, well-mannered guys. We had a nice conversation about Marvel movies too while they skillfully and gently wrapped my fridge up. The whole exchange was perfect! Could not have asked for a better moving experience :) and for a fair price too! If he is still doing labor jobs in the near future, I'd ask him for his services again in a heartbeat! read more

I had multiple issues with Ian's Movers: (TL;DR They scratched my floor during the move and refused to pay for repair or fix it.) 1. They did not tell us that their pricing was $117 per hour only if paid in cash - the day of, we were informed the day of the move that it was $127 per hour if paid via card. 2. The move itself was generally fine - they got the job done. They were careful to wrap the furniture nicely so it was protected. HOWEVER, they scratched the floor of my new apartment. While I was hanging around as they moved my stuff, I saw one mover drop a piece of furniture and say "Oh shoot!" After the chaos of the move, I examined the floor where it was dropped, and there was a scratch that couldn't be wiped away. There were additional scratches located on other parts of the floor. 3. I understand that accidents happen and damage can occur during a move. My biggest issue is what happened next. When I contacted the company about the scratches, I asked how it would be remedied. They insisted that the movers told them they did not scratch my floor. When I informed them that I was present and saw the scratch happen in the moment, they huffed and puffed and said they'd come back to me. They went radio silent until my boyfriend very firmly communicated to them days later that they needed to remedy the issue. Shortly after, they sent a handyman to look at the damage. The handyman attempted to wipe away the scratches, which could not be wiped away with water or chemicals. To add insult to injury, the handyman suggested that we simply tell our landlord that the scratches already existed when we moved in. We were offended that we were asked to lie, but also upset that this "solution" could result with us getting stuck with the bill upon moving out down the road. Despite emailing the company once more regarding the result of the handyman visit, I received no further communication from them. There has been no offer to fix or reimburse for the cost of repairing the scratched floor. read more

I was referred to Ian by my friends at Real Rock 'n Roll movers because my move was smaller then their minimum. I had not yet read the Yelp reviews, but figured they wouldn't steer me wrong. Oh.My.God. What can I add to the glowing reviews below?! My 5-star vote. Reviews are SO on target! Me: single, moving by myself because I was a) moving 2 months before I was ready b) then actual move pushed up 10 days. Super stressed out between crazy full time studio job and juggling freelance music pr work, waiting to get paid. Car needs repairs. Moving from a teeny tiny spot into a nicer studio spot with weird sizes. Panicked none my furniture would get in the door. How was I going go buy new stuff, while my stuff is still in storage in Chicago? Hottest temps of the summer, 3 digits. Ian shows up with Mark. They are so cool, calm, laid back but uber uber efficient. Ian was straight up about what the terms were re: the amount of stuff, what defined loads. He was so efficient before I even met him and I loved it. He followed through to the letter. He made my loads work, he was reassuring, when I was starting to hyperventilate that nothing would get in the door in the new place, he and Mark both kept me calm and collected. And removed the door so the loveseat sofa bed would go through. Put the door right back on without skipping a beat. A true find in LA, and I will without question be calling Ian and his friend Mark, aka here as "Man With A Truck". And likely inviting them to my housewarming! read more

This review is only for my experience with the woman who answers the phone. Based on reviews and website, I am confused. I was looking to have an appliance moved. The woman who answered phone was less than friendly and said they only do full-service moves with a 3 hour minimum. Period. I explained that it seems possible based on the website and reviews. No explanation, just a rude "no" and quickly dismissed. Maybe they changed their services, which is fine, but it clearly states they will move appliances on their site and plenty of reviews here on yelp indicating they were successfully hired for just that. There is a nice way to say, "sorry we can't help you out, we don't offer that service anymore." read more
