First time I came here was a Thursday, there is a woman who told me she is there only on Thursdays and she did a wonderful job on my brows. Like an idiot I decided to go on a Saturday, some heavy set girl with blond hair did my brows. She basically took a chunk of skin from my eye lid and some other cuts as well. Now I have had this happen before with an eye brow person years ago, so I know it can happen if you are not good at threading brows. The part that irritated me the most was she just tried to clean the blood off and then threw me a Kleenex, like clean yourself up basically lol. She didn't apologize for slicing me up 4 days before my 34th birthday , and the brows are not cleaned up right. She just doesn't care, on being forced to work there by her parents probably. I have a hormonal disorder called PCOS that causes hirituism, or excessive hair growth. For years, I was on birth control that balanced my hormones (but also made me a madwoman). Since I've been off, I've gotten hairier and hairier - one of the most noticeable places being my upper lip. This absolutely crushed my confidence. Whenever I spoke to people, I would get insecure that they were looking at my upper lip. I avoided going out and stopped taking photos altogether. But enough was enough! After careful careful consideration and consulting with friends who are more experienced in moustache removal - I decided on getting mine threaded. I used to live in EAV and remembered passing by this place a lot, so I went in after work. There was one employee and one client who was getting their brows done. My wait was very short. After they finished up and paid the lady asked me what I'd like. When I sat in the chair, the woman examined my face and sternly told me: YOU HAVE FULL MUSTACHE! TOO MUCH HAIR TO THREAD! I WAX! Now. If there had been a lobby full of people, I'd likely have been embarrassed. I am already very insecure about this hair. To add insult to injury, she promptly passed me a hand mirror as though I needed to verify her declaration. I look at myself everyday. I know it's there. I see it too. That's why I am here. Paying YOU to remove it. I DON'T NEED YOU TO REMIND ME OF THE OBVIOUS, LADY. At this point I've already worked myself up to removing it and I just don't wanna leaving the shop hairy. I asked her if the wax was safe for sensitive skin. She said yes, so I reluctantly "well okay-d". Now, I am very experienced in getting my nether-regions waxed, but I've never had anything else. Also, with the positioning of the chair, which kind of leans you back. So, you can't really LOOK and see what's going on while it's going on. After it was over, she slathered my upper lip in oil. I paid, and tipped. During my drive home the area was very red and itchy. She told me not to scratch, but dammit I was itchy! I stared panicking and doing some googles and realized the obvious - that I was likely having an allergic reaction to the wax. I also read that the area should've been disinfected before the wax was applied (it wasn't). And that no oils or creams should be applied after (she literally brushed on oil). Upon further examination at home, she hadn't even removed all of the hair. She did 2 quick sections, and just left everything else beyond that. By day, 3 my top lip was covered in little white bumps. It was so unsightly and embarrassing and I absolutely DREADED leaving the house. They cleared up within a week or so. It's been a little over a month now, but now I have scars all around my top lip. It's so ugly. I've never known how to wear makeup, but I had to go out and buy a concealer stick to learn how to cover them, and I don't leave the house without it. I 100% regret the moment I decided to walk into this salon. If I could go back, I would've hopped out of the chair the moment she acted like she couldn't do what I'd come for. FYI: This time around, I went to another place and got THREADED with ZERO itch/rash/inflammation issues afterward. I told the woman about my previous experience and she confirmed my suspicions: I was not "too hairy", the lady at i-too was simply lazy and did not want to take the time necessary to thread me. Another FYI: i-too offers skin bleaching services. Skin. BLEACHING. Ew. Yuck. Please don't go here. read more

The original woman I went to moved out of the country so I was a little distraught since I had been going to her for years. Let me tell you all of the women here are talented, and you will not be disappointed. I came in on a Thursday afternoon to see Malika. There were two people in front of me and I did not even wait 10 minutes to be seen, that's how efficient they are. I chose to go to Malika based on the other reviews I read of people with thicker brows. I had been growing my brows for years and refused to get them done because I had such a horrible experience when I moved out of state. So happy I went to Malika when I came back to visit ATL. I have nightmares about bad brow jobs. Seriously. I have very small brows that grow very slowly, so I am always very hesitant about putting my face in someone's hands. I have had a couple atrocious experiences that make my hesitation even worse. This place has made my face very happy. I came in close to closing time, but Naz was very gracious in helping me. After reading the reviews, I decided to skip the Patel Plaza where I usually go for my bargain brows ($6) in an attempt to find a place with a little more TLC. I just happened to walk in right behind 3 people, and two more people were in the salon ahead of them, waiting to be seen. There was only one employee who had her hands full with thread, a phone and someone's face. There is a sign up sheet to keep the order of customers who come in, and the services they want, so I was dismayed that the 3 people who got there ahead of me just shy of a minute were signed up for some heavy duty waxing services. I really wanted to get home, but I had a Zoom conference in the morning that I did not want my eyebrows to be the star of, due to their size and disheveled state, so I patiently on the outside but screaming at every passing minute on the inside decided to wait. It was worth it. Salima was so good at managing her time in between her customers, and treating every one of them with care and congeniality. When it was my turn to do my brows, even though there were a few more people waiting and it was getting close to closing time, she did not rush or cut corners (just my brows. hah!) and gave me her full, undivided attention. The thread that she uses is very thin, which makes for an easier threading experience and is more precise at getting those tougher to reach baby hairs. She made sure they were smooth and polished before I left, going over them a few times to catch anything she may have potentially missed. I loved my experience with Salima, and will definitely take the time to drive out a little further and pay a little more for this experience. Side note: If you are getting anything waxed that you don't want the rest of the salon to know about, I suggest you go when it is not busy. Us Indians aren't exactly known for our subtlety, and the acoustics in the salon are so that I found out some very interesting details about someone's Brazilian that I could have done without hearing. read more

I'd been wanting to try threading and happened to be in East Atlanta over the weekend, so I checked out I Too. All the ladies were very friendly and it was only $7 for eyebrows. I usually pay $7 - $12 for waxing at whatever nail salon I happen to be closest to. I already have the basic 'shape' and just go in for maintenance. It wasn't too painful (ok. . . maybe my eyes teared up a little bit . . .) and took less than 10 minutes. According to the staff, it usually lasts about two weeks. Not sure if I'll convert from waxing to threading . . . but I was glad to try it out. This may be a good option if you happen to be allergic to waxes, since they just use thread! read more

Very quick and efficient. I have been to I Too before but I never thought I had a reason to venture back on this side of town for brows. Well, when my mom started talking about how thin my brows were etc, etc, I decided that I should go to where I have friends go that have decently shaped brows that are also thick. I Too has a very simple process-walk in, sign in and wait your turn. Most people ask for Shoba-and I can see why, she does a very good job. I fail to remember the name of the young lady that did my brows but she is the very first threader that actually listened to me when I asked her to keep my brows thick and intact but clean them up. I actually walked out with 2 whole eyebrows and not one and a half (that's another story about another chain threading company for another day). Get this- it's only $7!!!! I wanted to try this threading salon because it is close by. I set up an appointment and went in for threading and underarm waxing. The person who threaded my eyebrows was inexperienced and she did not know how to shape my eyebrows. Threading is usually somewhat painful but she pinched my skin too much. I've been getting my eyebrows threaded for 13 years. I feel that I know what a good experience should be. When she waxed my underarms, the wax was very hot and she burned my right underarm. When I mentioned the fact that the girl burnt my arm to the woman at the front, she made no apology. She only asked how much tip I'd like to leave. I later emailed them but never heard a response. I would have liked an apology and would have appreciated it if they responded to my concerns and contacted me. I wouldn't recommend this threading salon. I am not sure about all their staff. They may have an excellent person who knows how to thread but I think all their staff should be trained to properly. read more

Similar to the other Yelpers, I came to I-Too based on the good reviews. While I was generally pleased with how my brows turned out, I was very disappointed in the COVID-19 precautions (or the lack thereof). When I walked in all customers had on a mask and the two threaders did not. Please note this was before the new CDC guidance that says fully vaccinated people can go without a mask indoors. I asked Malika to put on a mask and she did so without hesitation. I appreciated that, but I was confused about why I had to ask in the first place. After all, she has to get very close to my face during the service. There was no sign on the door with their precautions, no hand sanitizer, and no masks. Also, I did not see them wiping down/sanitizing chairs or stations or using hand sanitizer between customers. I thought this was totally unacceptable! We are still in the middle of a pandemic. At the very least I expect hand sanitizer to be put on your hands before you touch my face from the last customer. Likely will not return. If you have a high standard for sanitization and basic precautions, this is not the place for you. read more

They make sure they don't over trim you brows, causing them to look bushy, like most people tend to do with curly brows. I used to feel that way with waxing however, threading allows for a more intimate reach of the hairs and removal is very deliberate. I've been going here for about a year now. And my most recent visit was today. I'm the occasional threader and every time I sit in the chair I get a "It's been a while huh?" comment lol! I really just don't have time to do my eyebrows and they're not naturally bushy. I love threading because its natural. It feels good to not have to put hot chemicals on my face anymore! Wait time: Usually none. And if there is then its always like 1 or 2 people ahead of me. The actually duration of the threading depends on who you get and how long it's been since your last threading/waxing lol! But no more thing 15 minutes! Prices: $7 And it's been this way since I started going over a year ago! At one point they even had a special where if you booked an appointment on monday it would only be $5! I'm not sure if they're still doing that but you can call and see. Cheapest I've seen. Service: I've never been offered the drinks and things like a reviewer mentioned but that's probably because there is never a wait when I arrive. My eyebrows always comes out great! I'll be honest it is a bit painful to me but so is waxing. It's so weird because I always end with water (that isn't from crying) in my eyes. It's like theres some link between my eyebrows and tear ducts! But they always have a box of tissue they offer after : ). They also offer Brazilian waxes, henna, all of it! They sell an oil (I think argan oil? but don't quote me!) imported from India for $4 that helps your brows grow. Haven't tried yet, but I might. I recommend. I have very thick eyebrows and I have trouble finding someone to thread them correctly because the threader always makes one of them thicker than the other one, or one of them has a higher arch than the other one. So I have to wait a couple of months for them to grow back completely, then get them re-done. I have been to this location twice, the first time I went, the lady made one of them thicker than the other, as always! I decided to give them another try yesterday and a lady named Sholba actually fixed them, so they are both even now. I will continue to let Sholba clean my eyebrows up every two weeks so they don't get messed up again! This is a great place to go especially if you have thin eyebrows. Don't go on a Friday evening if you have some place to be because it's very crowded. I would say go on a Tuesday or Wednesday to beat the crowd. UPDATE: I went to this location again at the end of September and now I have a fungus on my left eyebrow at the location one of the ladies was threading. (Needless to say...I won't be going back!!!) ANOTHER UPDATE: This place is hit or miss. I continue to go because there really is no better eyebrow place in my area, and I like the threading method but I've went back since the previous update and my eyebrows once again are mismatched! December 2008 UPDATE: Well, someone told me about a lady named Duli in the shop, so I might try them again! I haven't been to them in about six months. ~~~Duli mucked them up again! :) LOL: June 8, 2009 update: I LOVE Shoba!!! She is the best threader in this salon. I now know not to go to anyone BUT her! March 2, 2010: Just to let you know...I'm still going to Shoba and my eyebrows are the best they've ever been! September 2, 2010: Shoba was very busy today so I had to try someone else. There is a black girl in the shop (I'm sorry, I didn't catch her name) she must be new because I've never seen her but she did a GREAT job!!! I love a good, cheap brow taming job. Really, $7? How can you beat that? Came here on a Saturday afternoon because I noticed that my eyebrows were quickly approaching out of control status. Unfortunately, there was a bit of a wait...probably close to 20 minutes. No worry though, there are lots of magazines to help pass the time. There were a couple of issues with the lady skipping people on the sign in sheet, but no riots ensued. Once I made it into the chair, my eyebrows were quickly subdued and I was out of there in no time. Parking is available on the street or in the lot behind the building (you can enter said lot from Flat Shoals or Glenwood). You're not gonna get anything fancy here, but your eyebrows will look fantastic and you'll have a few bucks to spare. Win-win situation if you ask me. read more

I absolutely love this place! I've been going to iToo consistently for about 6 months now. They do an amazing job on threading. I've gone to several places to get my eyebrows threaded (literally. I had my first experience during a work trip to South Africa) and BANO at iToo does the best job. My eyebrows always look neat, not too thin, and have a great shape. It's a $7 transformation! You can't beat that. I'm making an appointment now, and decided to go ahead and leave a review since I haven't done it before. I'm making an appointment because I'm going to get a facial for the first time and I don't know if it'll be a wait for this type of service (oh yeah, threading is free with a facial!). I'll amend this review after my facial and give my two cents...may even post some before and after pics of my eyebrows. (Although I go every 2 weeks, so they never get too far out of hand.
