    Steak
    Joe G.

One of the best steaks I have ever had however definitely on the more rare side of medium rare. Still amazing would have again in a heart beat. The pasta was also very good probably the best pasta I have had on this trip to Italy. With that said it was different than what was ordered, we ordered pasta with fresh tomato and instead was given the one with truffles of course it was also twice as much and after the waitress brought it didn't show up to our table for several minutes not giving us a chance to switch it. Lastly the salad very disappointing literally just spring mix, oh the waitress also forgot about it completely as it was only brought after our steak and pasta when we asked where our salad was. Also we didn't have a reservation but was let in thankfully. None the less still worth going just make sure to get there early and try to make a reservation!

Dessert - biscotti and a liqueur

We were staying in an apartment across the street and our local host recommended I'Brindellone for a classic Florentine steak experience. Definitely make a reservation! If you don't have one you will only get in if someone no shows. I walked over to make a reservation and there were not many tables left during the days we were staying there in late September, but we did get a table a few days out. First seating is at 7:30 and they recommended we arrive at 7:15/7:20. People line up starting around 7. The process appears to repeat for 9:00 and 10:30 seatings. We ordered a 1.5kg steak for the three of us and thought we'd never finish, but we did it! The weight does include a bone so it's not as crazy as it sounded when we ordered it. The steak was so tender and flavorful! Heads up they do serve it very rare. It was delicious this way but it might be out of he comfort zone for some. We also enjoyed the Tuscan beans, zucchini blossoms, tomatoes and mozzarella and house chianti wine. Somehow we had room for dessert and enjoyed a biscotti like cookie with a liqueur to dip them in. Atmosphere is casual and has a somewhat rustic feel. Service was great and they have quite the system going here to keep things moving without making guests feel rushed. Definitely a great place to go for amazing Florentine steak!

Beautiful florentine steak and fried squash.

Visited l'Brindellone on the recommendation of a tour guide. It was absolutely fantastic, I cannot say enough good things. We arrive just after they opened ~7:20p, evidently this is a restaurant that typically requires a reservation, but they were able to seat us sharing a table with another couple who also didn't have a reservation. I was initially hesitant about this but the table was quite large and it was not a problem at all. We ordered the pasta of the day (egg noodles with rabbit), the floretine steak (our reason for choosing this restaurant), and their vegetable of the day- which was described as a fried squash. Our waiter also brought us a plate of their white beans in red sauce to try. I also ordered a glass of their basic Chianti. This dinner was beyond my wildest imagination - everything was perfectly spiced and cooked - our steak was basically just seared, so very very red in the middle and incredibly tender - and HUGE - did I mention that? The steak was definitely a 2 person endeavor - it filled an entire serving platter! The thing I was most surprised about was the beans - I am NOT a bean fan and would never have ordered them, but these beans were REALLY good - I started with a small taste and ended up going back for multiple additional spoonfuls. Our waiter said the restaurant is quite famous for their beans, and after trying I can see why. And I can't forget the squash - literally every bite of this meal was an experience. At the end of dinner our waiter also brought us a limoncello - a perfect end to a perfect meal. I am so glad we were able to get into this restaurant. Lastly, I want to acknowledge the kindness of the staff at the restaurant- I mentioned earlier that the waiter brought us both the beans and limoncello to try - he did not charge us for this and in addition was just generally very kind despite us obviously being tourists with little Italian language skills. I felt they really took care of us, with much more attention than generally is given in other Italian restaurants we've visited. We had a wonderful dinner and I want to recommend l'Brindellone to EVERYONE!

Returning to I'Brindellone was in the back of my mind for a number of years. I first visited this restaurant 5 or 6 years ago on the recommendation of a friend whose family is also full of butchers. He said THIS is the place to try the traditional steak of Florence (Bistecca alla Fiorentina) and he wasn't wrong. Since my first visit I have been waiting for an opportunity to return and that came recently. We had a big lunch, so I tried to focus only on the Steak. We had Ribollita and Tuscan dumplings for our starting course. The Ribollita, a Tuscan bread soup, was delicious and had smaller chunks of bread and vegetables than other restaurants, which was welcome and made for a better mix of flavors in each spoonful. The waiter helpfully topped it at the table with olive oil and it made for a delicious start to the evening. The Tuscan dumplings were delicious, but admittedly a little hard to describe. Large, crunchy dumplings that seemed like they may have been fried but weren't oily at all, so I can't be certain they aren't baked. I loved the salty flavor, but I saw other people dipping them in some type of sauce, so I'm not certain if I missed something. Either way, a delicious surprise. The steaks were worth the wait. They were cooked and salted perfectly. Crunchy with the grill flavor on the outside and bloody on the inside. Just that way it was meant to be. Since I was still full from lunch, I got the smaller cut on the helpful waiter's recommendation, but I feel confident on my next visit the larger cut will be mine. We also had a side of white beans that were stewed in tomato sauce, which may have been the first time for both of us, and something I will need to try at home because they were delicious. We didn't get dessert because there was no room left, but we will next time, and there will be a next time!

If you are going to eat at one place in Florence, you need to make it I'brindellone. You will need to make reservations as this restaurant is always booked with no room for walk-ins. I had to make a reservation for my wife and I about a month in advance. They do not have an option to reserve online so I had the hotel we were staying at make reservations on our behalf. We started our dinner with a Pasta with Rabbit (the pasta of the day). This flavorful dish consisted of thick savory noodles mixed with tender gamey rabbit and a hint for fresh tomato. Next came the star of the dinner, and what I'brindellone is primarily know for, the Thick Florentine T-Bone Steak. A mouthwatering fresh smokey aroma filled the table when we received the dish. The steak was juicy, tender and cooked a perfect medium rare. The outside was lightly charred with a hint of saltiness and some caramelized fat on the outside. This steak was massive and could easily feed four people. We also ordered a side of Spinach which was creamy with a nice touch of olive oil. After a phenomenal dinner, we couldn't skip dessert. We ordered the Mascarpone which was super creamy and custard like. Overall, I'brindellone is the type of restaurant you go out of your way to visit.

WOW. Just wow... This spot was recommended by our B&B host and we were just blown away. We ordered the following: Variety of cured meats Pasta of the day (rabbit meat sauce) Truffle pasta Peposo Mascarpone dessert First, with the cured meats, they must have an amazing source because their meats tasted better than any others we had in town, especially the prosciutto, which makes American prosciutto seem tasteless and bland. The two pastas were what really floored us. They were cooked perfectly al dente and so delicious that I was slowly savoring each bite, not wanting the meal to end. All this plus about 3/4 liter of their house wine for just €60. What a steal for one of the best meals I've had in a long time.

We had a wonderful meal and experience at l'Brindellone! The Veal Steak was outstanding. The house wine was some of the best we've had. They were very accommodating to Americans.

The food was sooooo delicious and our waiter was super helpful and kind. If I'm ever back in Florence, I'm going back to l' Brindellone for sure

After a day of walking and touring the magnificent Palazzo Pitti and more walking around the beautiful Piazzale Michelangelo, my family was hot & tired and praying to our food gods that I Brindellone (which I had on my "list" of hopeful restaurants) might be able to fit us without a res. We arrived when it had not yet opened for dinner, and YAY we were the first in line and able to snag a table that opened when there was a no-show. This a small place and you may be sitting communally, but none of that matters and you may even make some friends. The food is so reasonably priced and all house made. Very few tourists (besides us). So the evening just kept getting better and better with each forkful. We started with their crostini (with fabulous chicken liver pate), tuscan sliced meats (prosciutto etc.), "fried italian dumplings" and a beautiful caprese with the freshest bufala mozzarella. Except for the "fried dumplings" which were basically bland fried dough (and could easily be skipped --note these are NOT on the Italian menu), all were fabulous. My taglierini al tartufo (pasta with shaved truffles) was outstanding. Or other dishes were fried calves brain (adventurous eaters), gnocchi and a slow-cooked tuscan pot roast. The icing on our perfect dinner was complementary vin santo and cantucci. Make a reservation or be first in line when they open!!

This place came highly recommended so we had to try it when we visited Florence. Note - due to increase in popularity, I would strongly recommend you make a reservation. There are only 2 seatings each night and 12 tables total. They speak decent enough English but you can also ask the concierge at your hotel to make one for you. l'Brindellone is known for their Florentine steak so definitely order it. The smallest size is 1.2kg (2.6lbs) which is a massive amount of steak for two people to share. Along with the steak we ordered the truffle pasta which was to die for. I love Italian pasta, it's so simple but stunning in its simplicity. The pasta was perfectly al dente and seasoned only with some olive oil, pepper, and truffles. You know it's good when the pasta is that simple but tastes amazing. The steak was good but not great. Having been to Peter Luger's in NY, I would say this steak was mediocre. The cut was kind of tough and while the edges and parts close to the bone were delicious, I wasn't that impressed with the rest. The plate it came on wasn't heated so the steak also lost its heat quickly.

Fantastic menu from a quality restaurant surprisingly not eager for tourists (which was nice). Amazing food at an excellent bargain. Florentine steak. Wonderful pasta with truffle shavings. Of course a great house vino russo. Helps if you speak some Italian.

Ok, get reservations. If you try walking in you get a friendly "maybe in 15 mins" but be turned away. Complete feel of a "locals only" spot, situated on the opposite side of Fiume Arno, away from all the tourists. Egg pasta with brown butter sauce was covered in shaved white truffle, very heavy dish in a good way. Tagliatelle covered in a ground rabbit ragu was awesome. Did not lose the rabbit flavor you would seek. Large plate of Fried calves brains was the size of conch fritters. And like conch fritters you give the nuggets of brain a squirt of fresh lemon and devour them. Excellent hole in the wall!

The menu was solid, if a bit "generic" at times. While everything we ordered was delicious, nothing at Trattoria Giovanni felt like a dish you couldn't find elsewhere... and honestly, that's perfectly fine! It was traditional, comforting, and exactly what we were craving. The plate of cured meats and cheese was phenomenal, a great start to the meal. The pastas were really good as well, though one of the meat dishes had a slightly off texture, with the chunks of meat a bit overcooked. When I arrived, I was immediately greeted by several of the staff, all warm/kind. One of them offered me a table, even though I humbly mentioned I'd be fine with whatever was convenient to them. I looked around and saw what seemed to be majority American tourists so I had very standard expectations. Well, what commenced...my god. I'm getting chills now thinking about the entire experience. Just the absolute perfect dinner my first night in Florence. Everything on the menu looked fantastic and I was even tempted to order 2 Primi (pastas) but my server discouraged it, said they were quite large. Instead she guided towards the "must" appetizer, the "onion flan with pecorino cheese and truffle" followed by their signature pasta, "pappardelle with wild boar ragù" The appetizer literally brought me to tears as soon as I took a bite. I didn't think I liked truffle but this was life-changing. And the pasta was served piping hot and also to die for. I complemented the meal with a delicious glass of white and red and ended with the utterly divine tiramisu. I will be dreaming about this meal for years to come. So epic.

Vini e Vecchi Sapori was easily my favorite restaurant in Florence. I loved the cozy, vibrant dining room, snug and eclectically decorated. We were at a table so tiny, I worried about pulling a muscle when I crossed my legs. It was nestled amongst other tiny tables, and abutted a counter where plates were put out for service and the reservation book set down in its glory next to my husband's head. Service was warm, efficient, and attentive. Our waiter basically told what to order and we obeyed him, with excellent results. The one-page handwritten menu, helpfully available in English, presented the day's offerings and this preemptive list of disclaimers: No Pizza No Cappuccino No The Fork No Ice No Spritz No Ketchup FUCK CANCER There was a brief selection of Italian wines by the glass, and we got the Chianti Classico and the Bruno de Montalcino, both lovely. The food was delicious, starting with good bread and good olive oil. We ordered the mixed Tuscany salami and the beef carpaccio as appetizers, and they were both superb and not in the least bit redundant. There were four or five types of salami, every one of them fantastic, and I loved the thin, silky carpaccio, served with rucola, parmesan, olive oil, and black pepper. We shared two splendid pastas, spinach ricotta ravioli in a creamy rose tomato sauce and a hearty pappardelle with duck ragu. For dessert, we had the lush, irresistible raspberries tiramisu. I plan to come back to Florence one day, and will make a point of coming back to Vini e Vecchi Sapori. It's a special restaurant, the kind you hope to find in Italy, a welcoming place with lively ambiance and wonderful food.

My mom's is better. The house wine was also not for me, a lot of acid as I am 98% sure it's homemade. However five dollars for a glass, you can't beat it. The line outside started before this place opened. I got here an hour before and asked for a reservation and was accommodated! We did come couple days before at 8:30 and could not get in. We also got the rigatoni and the boar pasta they were both very nice. The stuffed zucchini was also very nice. All in all in expensive to eat here and honestly this wasn't worth it. I would pass. Oh inside and outside seating. It's beautiful in here! All the staff were just lovely! All very handsome! But the restaurant across the street is cheaper, Michelin star winner, and three times is good. Starts with "al" I'll post a review about it. Good luck- try at Your own risk.

We spent three days in Florence and ate here twice, and cut our tour of the Acedemia out of our schedule to make sure we could make it for lunch before heading on to Rome, that's how awesome the food was! The people running the restaurant are so amazing, they truly treat you like family while you are there. They were always attentive, but never lingering. Unlike restaurants in the US where you are expected to eat and leave as soon as possible, in Italy food is mean to be enjoyed over conversation and camaraderie, which means unless you wave someone over or your glasses are empty you are left to enjoy yourselves. Osteria Santo Spirito is no exception to this rule. You'll be warmly greeted and well cared for but never hovered over. You will absolutely want to make a reservation, a wait for a table inside can take a bit to get if you just plan to stroll in off the street, but the seating outside is just as beautiful and a bit more plentiful. He was awesome and had us laughing the entire night. We peppered him with a lot of questions about the menu, he answered everything and also accommodated my father-in-law, who is GF. He had his own GF bread basket and was able to order almost anything on the menu. We ordered a nice bottle of Montepulciano red for the table that was $48. Others had the Hugo spritz. For app I had the anchovies with roasted red pepper, sea salt and oil over grilled crostini, very good. I skipped first course and ordered the ribeye steak for my main course. Bone in, medium rare, sprinkled with sea salt and a side of onion marmalade. The steak was very good and had way less fat than I expected. The waiter suggested a huge steak for the table, but I was the only one ordering steak that night. Maybe next time. Others ordered the fillet and it was cooked perfectly, the angels and demons gnocchi, and the veal scallopini. Everybody was pleased Really cool spot with a very good wine selection, drinks, excellent food and a fun atmosphere that you don't find at many places. Nugo was an A+ server.

Waiter was super friendly, taking time to explain their wines in detail and food options. They even have a kids menu with sizeable portions for older kids. We all thoroughly enjoyed our meal, and it was definitely the best wine we had with meals in Florence. Gnocchi and wild boar taglietelle were outstanding. Had we had come earlier in our stay we might have come back again They also do a wine window which I wish I'd known about earlier because the other one we tried for fun was not good

The vibe itself is cool (automatic door walking in, dungeon-like walls with cute decorations). Walking to your table you walk by a huge wine selection, which can be overwhelming. We started with the asparagus and peas salad. This was pretty solid, simple but it worked. We grabbed the spaghetti with the cream of asparagus-normally wouldn't order so much asparagus but this was the pasta that sounded the most interesting to us and we did ultimately end up enjoying the sauce quite a bit and it was one of the better pasta dishes we had in Italy. Got a side of the white beans which we probably didn't need but didn't mind. The steak: first of all it's very sizable. The Florentine way is rarer than I would ever order a steak and while I'm glad I tried it, I probably wouldn't choose it again. It's an interesting ordering process as you're essentially given the sizes they have left there for the night so you never know walking exactly how much you'll pay. I do appreciate that they cut it for you but I did feel like some of the meat was still on the bone (not that we really needed MORE meat I just didn't want to waste any). The flavoring is pretty good but there are definitely bites that are better than the others. The service was a bit mixed. There were times they were interested in talking with us while others they didn't seem so interested and a bit aloof. This was especially true when we went to check out. Ultimately, served its purpose in introducing us to a style of steak we hadn't had before and did so in a way that we enjoyed.

It didn't start getting super busy until ~9pm - which is the usual Italian dining hour. We had the: *Prosciutto del Casentino - Le Selve di Vallolmo (Specialty Tuscan Ham of Free Range Grey Pork of Casentino, Tuscany (Slow Food Awarded Ingredients)) - MOVE OVER IBERICO. This was incredible - just melt in your mouth. You have to get this! *Ravioli di Peposo di Manzo al Burro e Timo (Ravioli Stuffed with Stewed Peppered Beef and Tossed in Butter and Thyme) - Peposo is a classic Tuscan dish that's usually tough cuts of meat cooked down in Chianti wine. Loved this 'twist' on a classic dish. They also so kindly split this portion for us which was perfect. The Peposo was perfection; if they just had Peposo as a dish, I'd order it! *Bistecca dell'Osteria (House Specialty Bone In Steak) - the star of the show!! While this isn't Chianni cattle or anything, this was fantastic piece of steak. Perfectly executed at medium rare. Love that the menu states "If you prefer your meat more so well done we would be happy to recommend another dish to you." Ha. Make sure you order a BOTTLE of wine! They have GREAT local options at super reasonable price points.

Not many places actually have yelp reviews, but this one had so many with great feedback. The food looked amazing. When we arrived we thought they were closed, but that is because they moved to a bigger restaurant a few doors down. When we arrived at the front, the gentleman asked if we had reservations, which we didn't. He directed us to the line with no reservations. The line was a bit long, but doubled in size almost immediately. It also started pouring rain during this time and we were ALL getting drenched even with an umbrella. The non reservation line was not really moving unless people left the line. We waited a good hour. As we inched closer and closer, the lines were now both outrageous and getting seated seemed like a distant memory. The staff came out and gave out Sangria and Bread bites to help those in line feel welcome. We did finally get seated and we were so glad we waited, it was worth it! We ordered the Spaghetti Carbonara, the lobster spaghettini and the chicken breast with roasted potatoes. We also ordered sangria. Everything was so good and our total was 83 €. Prices were unbelievable! We were amazed at the quality, the service and how large the restaurant they relocated to was. It was like a well oiled machine. The food coming out quickly and efficiently. I will 100% be back if I return to Florence!

Definitely can tell the old building and maybe they had expanded over the years. The service was amazing and the food delicious. This is one of the places that friends recommended and it's also on the list of many influencers. Tourist trappy, maybe. But the food was totally worth it. We were in the area around 4:30PM and decided to stop in, totally not expecting much as we didn't make a reservation but figured if they're open and not busy, why not give them a try. The most memorable dish we had was the appetizer we order - fried polenta with mushrooms and chicken liver pate, the polenta fried crispy, the mushrooms creamy and the chicken liver pate so smooth and savory. We also ordered 2 pasta dishes - wild boar sauce pappardelle and spaghetti alla carbonara. So tasty and with depth of flavors. Paired well with the house white wine we ordered as well. Definitely a spot you don't want to miss when in Florence.
