I am completely brand new to CrossFit. I was a little nervous going in, since it's been almost a…read morefull year since I've done any exercise. Surprisingly, the transition has been very smooth. Thanks to the coaches who have made me feel welcome from day one and who take time to explain every single exercise. There's a lot of different availability in the scheduling. It makes it so easy to come workout. Box is always clean, and tidy. Coaches are extremely engaging, professional, well prepared and motivating. Huge plus, this box is extremely family friendly, so from one parent to another... veryyyyy important.

From the second you walk into CFK, Rob, Dario, Paul or Mike treat you like family. What I realized…read moreis, once you step into the box, you are their family. This is noticeable every single day, no matter what time you go work out. My schedule is crazy between teaching and tutoring, so sometimes I have to go in the morning, sometimes in the early afternoon, other times late in the evening - the great part is, there is always a class and always coaches ready to help you succeed. CFK prides itself on its programming and attention to form. They wont just hand you a barbell and tell you good luck, they spend a LOT of time breaking down the movements, exercises, techniques, explaining why things are done a certain way and getting your mindset in the right place. They will scale workouts for you if necessary, and are constantly watching during WODs to make sure everyone is doing things well, not slacking and most importantly: staying safe. There are many events that further promote the family atmosphere of CFK, from BBQs to Paddleboaring and everything in between. They are even adding a Saturday morning Yoga class! I recommend them to anyone who wants to change their lives, fitness, health, make friends and have fun leaving it all out there every single workout. Constantly varied, constantly pushing yourself - that's the name of the game.

The programming is varied. Monday: Upper Body, Tuesday; Total Body, Wednesday; lower body, Thursday; Total body, Friday; Cardio and abs, Saturday; Total body and Sunday; Lower body. The exercises are varied, so if you hated one workout, the next one will be different. The instructors demonstrate the exercises after the warmup. The exercises are rotated so the other regulars know the exercises and you can follow along. If you are new the instructors will take the time to work you through it one on one. If you are new to exercising at this intensity you can dial it off by using lower weights, taking longer breaks, or in my case I tapped out after two rounds versus three. There is no pressure except yourself to perform. The gym is open air. I have only worked out here in the winter, but find my self gravitating to the doors for fresh air. There is ample supply of equipment for all strength levels. I have noticed some couples coming in and one partner doing their own workout on the weights. I have had a stroke and have balance and cognitive deficits. I know the modifications to the exercises that I need and there is equipment available for adaption. The instructors are patient with me in asking questions of something I'm sure they already said. They have a ten percent discount for military, veterans, and law enforcement. I live nearby and walk in the field next to Empire. They have underutilized lighted soccer fields that are perfect for a team practice at night. The teams are out there at night with music blasting and balls blazing. They have recently started a boxing program on Tuesdays and Thursdays that seems intriguing. They have different heavy bags available. I avoided this gym the last year due to Covid. Both me and my wife were fully vaccinated in March, so I was willing to give it a go. NO ONE wears a mask! They do a good job of sanitizing before, during, and after workouts, with all people participating in keeping it clean. They have the workout spaces divided into six foot blocks and have modified the workouts to maintain social distancing. The bottom line is that I would not recommend an unvaccinated person or one who has not had COVID work out here, especially when Jonathan breaks out one of his SHIIT workouts that will get everyone breathing super hard. The music is a negative for me. It is super loud (as in a club) and is either Regaton or Urban music. A diversity of Dance, House, Disco, Electronica, Salsa, Merengue, and Rock would be appreciated to match the diversity of clients. Maybe rotate a different style each day and ensure that styles vary between weeks. I will do a review again post-covid and if DJ issue is resolved, they should be at five stars.

Listennnnn, I really broke a sweat faaarealll. The staff was super upbeat early in the morning and I don't even like talking to people that early! But they were legit: correcting form, checking in, motivating you through every round. + The Workout ___________________ Classes start every 10 minutes so smart especially if you are a busy person. You rotate through 4 circuits, 10 minutes each, and the trainers guide you through the whole thing. It's intense! The vibe? Very community, not one of those gyms where you feel stared at. + Location ________________ It's in that big plaza in West Pines (you know, with Sam's Club or Costco). Tons of parking, but if you're late, that walk is brutal in the SoFlo heat. Inside is small but super clean, new equipment, and they use every inch of space. Grand opening had free towels, water bottles, and local vendors. + Customer Service: 10/10 + Overall Experience: 10/10 + Would I Be Back? ______________________ Probably not. I'm not spending a small fortune on fitness, especially when I have access to multiple gyms through a work app for just $40/month. As a RN, I try to be smart with my coins and this spot, while great, is just too pricey for the size and setup. If you've got the funds and want a HIIT experience with flexibility and structure, Sweat 440 is it. Well-run, motivating, and worth trying at least once they do give you a free trial so take advantage. This establishment has been Tamied™
