I can't think of better words to describe this hotel other than cozy and comfortable. The rooms are clean, no rodents or insects to be found. I do wish housekeeping would do a bit better when it comes to the day to day cleaning of the rooms, but it's not a big deal. The hotel could use some updating within it's rooms. There are very few outlets in the room, and no USB charging enabled outlets {frequently found in the US on lamps, outlets, etc.}. There's a small bar in the lobby, the concierge doubles as the bartender. The bar doesn't have a corkscrew, so if you buy wine while in Paris, have it opened at the store you buy it from. The hotel advertises having room controlled heating and cooling, however mine didn't seem to work {or maybe I was just using it wrong}. My room was hot hot hot to the point that sometimes I had to open a window to cool it down {even though it was about 25°F outside}.
What's really the best part about this hotel is it's location. Very close to the Métro, very convenient if you'd like to walk around Paris. About an hour walk to the Champs-Élysées and Arc de Triomphe, as well as Trocadéro {the ideal viewing spot for the Eiffel Tower}. It's only about a 15-20 minute walk from the Louvre, as well as Sacré Cœur. It's also only about 15 minutes to the Gare du Nord station, where you can catch the RER B train to get to CDG. The hotel is really very close to busy areas of Paris, however because Rue Mayran is a small side street, it stays really very quiet, while still being safe, which is nice.
Overall, it's a fairly average and standard hotel with a really good location. I'd probably compare it to a slightly more upscale version of a Hampton Inn.
If you do stay in this hotel, I highly recommend checking out Le Fournil de Léa! It's an amazing and very inexpensive boulangerie very close to the Hotel de l'Ocean. read more
