As soon as our taxi pulled up to the curb across the street from the hotel, a hotel employee came out to greet us and assist us with luggage and check-in. Our interactions with all employees at the hotel remained consistently pleasant. They were always friendly/polite, and very helpful.
The hotel is conveniently located about a 2 minute walk from an RER C station as well as the Musée d'Orsay. From the RER station, we were easily able to get to Notre Dame, the Eiffel Tower, the Catacombs (with a transfer to RER B), and Versailles. It was a 15-20 minute walk to the Louvre. There was also a great boulangerie (Eric Kayser) and a nice bistro/cafe (Les Antiquaires) about a 5 minute walk/4.5 blocks away.
There is a Nespresso machine in the lobby that you can avail yourself of (I certainly did), a little bowl of chocolates at the front desk (yum!), and a courtesy bar with soda and liquor. On rainy days, they offered large umbrellas that we could use for the day.
We only had breakfast at the hotel once. They have a quaint breakfast room in the back with a buffet of eggs, ham, sausage, cereals, oatmeal, yogurt, fruit, and a selection of bread/pastries, cheese, and cured meats. The price was about on par with other hotel breakfasts, but I kind of think they're all a tad overpriced. It all depends on how much you value convenience.
We booked a Superior Room, and found it to be spacious and nicely appointed, with a large bed, a Nespresso, and a good-sized bathroom. The only thing that made the room less than perfect was simply a matter of personal preference. My husband and I are used to a softer mattress, and Hotel d'Orsay's mattresses were on the firm side. We checked with the front desk to see if they had an mattress toppers, but no luck. They were extremely accommodating, however, and offered us another room that had a slightly softer bed. Again, this was totally a matter of personal preference. If you like firm mattresses, everything should be great! read more
