    Wow!! what an efficient and pleasant experience - start to finish from purchase through delivery…read more My upstairs neighbor flooded my bedroom. I ended up with mold, and I had to replace my futon mattress. I contacted a number of local businesses, including one where I had purchased the original futon frame and futon mattress and was unsuccessful in locating what I want what I wanted. I contacted an organic cotton mattress business in Back Bay and was on my way there. I was walking by the Apple Store and what do I see? Mattress Firm! So I decide to stop in and that's where I met. I believe his name is Steve and he very quickly and very efficiently aided me in identifying a mattress, not a futon in the end, memory foam by Sealy and set up delivery for the next day. The purchase was economical including delivery and setup and included taking away my old mattress which I really appreciated because my condo was not being cooperative, even though we went through a week of students leaving mattresses outside. Mattress Firm sent out text notifying me of the upcoming delivery and on the day of the delivery a secondary notice letting me know they were a stop away. Couldn't be more efficient! the two delivery men were super nice. It was an extremely pleasant experience very swift. They put the mattress on the frame before leaving, and they even wore booties, which I really appreciated because I have a recently clean carpet. In the two weeks since I have made the mattress purchase, I've had the best sleep that I've had in five years again start to finish couldn't have been a better experience Mattress Firm Back Bay rocks. I wanted to make certain it was a medium firm. It was a medium. The person i spoke to stated, "However, of all their spring mattresses, this one is their best and more firm than other medium mattresses. It will be more firm with a boxspring". I said, it was for a slat bed and the slats are withon a 1/2 inch from one another. He said, I'd be very happy with it. Got the mattress. First night fell out of bed and damaged my spine. Thank God, I didnt get an unnecessary boxspring. Second night, I put pillows underneath around its frame, no different. Third night I put a board, worthless. No returning it. I weight just over 100 lbs still, my butt sinks into it. I can't even give it away! Going to Mattress Firm, GOOD LUCK WITH THAT!

I tried on a couple pair of boots but nothing really jived for me. I did end up purchasing a Calvin Klein blouse. The store is spaced out nicely. I think there were three levels. A nice lady helped me in the shoes department. She took the time to answer questions even though she had lots of customers around her. That was the opposite of the clothing department where it took quite a while to find someone to ring me up even though there were no customers. This is probably the nicest department store in Downtown Boston. They also have a Starbucks on the first floor.

    I ordered furniture in August 2025 and paid for it in full -- only to learn seven and a half months…read morelater that the company wouldn't be fulfilling the order. In the process, Pompanoosuc Mills' owner seemed to show as little regard for a longterm employee as for me as a customer. To me, the company's self-professed promise was not kept: "... If you ever have a question or concern about your order, we're here to help--every step of the way." Few will want to hear the gory details, but here goes: When I needed some new stools, I saw a sample in the Copley showroom that was exactly what I was looking for; I ordered three stools in August 2025, paying in full. Erin, the Showroom Manager, told me that it might take 4 months or more to take delivery, which was OK with me. I asked if I'd be able to order a couple more in the future; she assured me 'they still make everything they've ever made', so it wouldn't be an issue. email from Erin on October 19, 2025: "A quick note to let you know your stools are in production. I will continue to follow the build and update you when they are near completion." email from Erin on 11/28/25: "The stools are currently in the assembly department - a fire at the mill set us back a bit. I will contact you again when I see they are near completion." (from Valley News coverage, the fire was October 13, before the first note). I asked Erin for an update 1/17/2026. Erin: "...I have been asking about their progress since then, most recently on the 8th of January. I have yet to get a response." By this time, I was beginning to hear there was a problem sourcing spindles for the stools, since their prior supplier was no longer making them. Not sure how that squares with the "in production" message from October and the "assembly dept" message from November, but it was evident that Erin was getting no better information than me. In the weeks that followed, there was a series of messages (generally with delayed responses from Erin) where there was an effort to get me to switch to a different style, or switch to a different wood. I returned to the showroom to consider, but neither would have matched anything in my house. email from Customer Service 3/5/26: Good news! Your Pompanoosuc Mills furniture order is ready for delivery. We have you on our white glove delivery schedule for 3/12/2026 between 12:00 PM - 3:00 I waited dutifully that day. In the late part of the delivery window I got a call from Erin: "Did they call you?" I said they had not. She said the stools on the truck were walnut, not the oak I had ordered. So...no stools for me. email from Pompy Customer Service on 3/26/26: "First, thank you so much for your recent order. We hope you love your new Pompanoosuc Mills furniture! To that end, we'd love your feedback. Our survey takes about 5 minutes. We'll ask about your experience in our showrooms, our website, your delivery, and your first couple of weeks living with your new Pompy furniture." Somewhat amazed by their poor record-keeping, I filled out the survey by saying I had not received anything yet and was still waiting. I forward the email to Erin saying it was further evidence of the company's dysfunction. Incidentally, my critical survey submission got nary a response. You would think somebody on the other end would have been embarrassed enough to reach out with an apology. email from Erin on 4/1/26: "I finally had a face to face with the owner after I sent this to him. He thought I said you would take the walnut stools. I reminded him I would ask you and you decided no after coming in to see what the walnut wood looked like. He has now definitively told me we will not get the parts for these stools because the people who made these in the past are no longer doing it. It would have been nice to know this last August......Apologies are hardly enough." I'm not in the furniture business, but I find it hard to believe there is no one they could find to sell them oak spindles to fulfill a properly placed and fully paid order. But it's more the careless attitude that is galling.

    BUYER BEWARE!!! Lies, non-existent customer service, missed delivery dates, zero communication, and…read moreconstant excuses. I waited months for a furniture purchase while delivery dates were missed multiple times, with delays disclosed only after I repeatedly chased the store for updates. There was zero proactive communication throughout the process. I've had the great misfortune and displeasure of having to deal with Anthony Goode, one of the proprietors. He needs to get a serious lesson in customer service and hospitality or get out of the retail business. After the second missed delivery, he was unapologetic, deflected responsibility, and refused to provide a guaranteed delivery date. When asked to put everything in writing--including delivery commitments or compensation--he insisted on phone calls only, an apparent attempt to avoid a written record. After extensive back-and-forth and continued refusal to provide basic accountability or a firm delivery date, I was forced to cancel the order. Despite this, the business has refused to issue a refund of my 50% deposit. This is an unscrupulous and deceptive business operation that avoids transparency and accountability at every turn. Save yourself the time, stress, and money--do not shop here. Buyer beware!!!

Nathan was completely gracious and very experienced with the creative and sales process. I returned to Atlanta to share some thoughts about a sectional sofa that I saw while in Boston. Later in the week Nathan remembered me and was so helpful during the long distance purchase process. Cudos to Nathan...cant wait until the new piece is deliveded. Michel

However, MGBW is using 2 delivery companies - FragilePak & Werner. They can not deliver on the same day. FragilePak 1st attempt FragilePak- Texted at 10pm deliver window of 12-4pm. Never showed up during time window. Very difficult to talk to human. Furniture returned to delivery companies warehouse. Sprinklers went off in warehouse and destroyed furniture. 2nd attempt - suppose to delivery on July 31. No text night before. Called in the morning. They are telling me 1 order was delivered yesterday to some random address in another State????? and that the other order is not scheduled for delivery. After 46 min on the phone... FragilePak is confirming they have no idea where our furniture is and to follow up with MGBW!!!! I will never order from MGBW again!!

    I ordered the 8 x 10 Aspen rug from Mitchell Gold & Bob Williams in July or August 2022. I had…read moreinitially saw this rug 2 years ago and said I would purchase it when I moved to my condo this year. I feel in love with the rug at first sight and felt the dynamic colors of brown amber and Grey's would work with existing and new furniture. I was disappointed to receive my rug and find out that the colors weren't as vibrant as the colors in the rugs as two different stores in the Chicago area. Moreover, the photo of the rug on MG & BW website is vibrant whereas the colors in the rug i received are very muted. Although the salesperson did note that the rug I would receive might be different than the one in the store, in terms of patchwork and varying light and tones, i was very disappointed in the difference with my rug (muted colors) and the Aspen rug in the stores (very vibrant colors). Why is it that the colors popped in three of Aspen rugs I saw but not in the one I purchased. Very disappointed every time I look atvthe rug although it's still a nice looking, quality rug.
