Hyperkids has recently been redone and looks great. A lot of the previous comments about cleanliness were not that bad. While I didn't notice any active cleaning while I was there, it didn't feel gross and I didn't find anything questionable. My kids had a ton of fun and loved everything available inside. My kids are on the younger side. If you have older kids there are certain areas zoned off for younger ages. If I had older kids I might be annoyed that 1/3 of the place was not for them. I also noticed that I lost my kid most of the time. The play space is great and offers a lot, but it is really hard to keep track of your kid once they go in the big jungle gym. I'll start with why I knocked off one star: parking can be a hassle,l and the jungle gym is starting to show its age. You might be wondering, "Why still give it 4 stars?" Well, here's why! The staff is incredibly friendly at the front desk and I was checked in almost immediately, which meant I could get right to playing with my kids. Keep in mind, this was right at their 9:30am opening. The facility itself is clean and I felt comfortable letting my kid roam around. Just a heads up--you will lose sight of your kid here, which is a little nerve-wracking at first. Like most kids' places, it can feel overwhelming, but once you get settled in (maybe by crawling through some of the play areas yourself to tap into your inner child), it's all good. Whew chile, I do not miss having small children! I visited Hyper Kidz this past weekend for a 5 year old's bday party, with my young nephew. The moment you step foot into this place, absolute CHAOS. There were literally people everywhere! The waiting area was packed, the play area was packed! My germophobia was at an all-time high! I really felt like they were over capacity! Of course you expect some level of chaos at a venue geared toward kids, but I expected more organization to the chaos. Whoever designed this place didn't really think it through. There is only a small area where shoes are allowed, which I understand because we carry a lot of nasty things on the bottom of our shoes. But, special socks are not provided as they are in other places, so you're walking around in the socks you wore there. I noticed some parents walking around with hospital booties on top of their shoes. I wish I knew those were available, my feet felt so grimy leaving this place! The biggest design flaw is the placement of the bathrooms and eating areas. They are all located within the play area. So that means you're walking shoeless in the most dirtiest areas! Like really, if your child has to use the bathroom, you have to walk in, in just your socks, that's all! It really defeats the purpose of having people take their shoes off, because now you're just tracking urine and fecal matter. The place area is also designed properly. Finding your kid is nearly impossible in this place. If you do decide to visit, make sure you dress your kid in bright, unique clothing, so you can easily spot them in the midst of the chaos. I looked for my 5 year old nephew for 15 minutes before asking the young lady on the mic to make an announcement, for her only to say "I can't make an announcement while they're doing the birthday dance....baffling! While nephew enjoyed himself in the moment, days later he has a stomach bug. No doubt, it was from this place. Made me feel horrible to have taking him to this place. This place is awesome for kids! It's great for rainy or cold days to keep your kids entertained. It is appropriate for all ages and even adults can fit on the playground and go down the slides. They have different sections of play equipment for the different ages such as children under 2 or 7 and under. My daughter had a blast and she's five years old. I saw kids of all ages there from crawling babies to maybe 12 years. There were tons of kids to play with. There was a ball pit section with slides, bigger slides on the big kids play ground, trampoline section, and tons of things to climb. You must wear socks so we brought ours since it's flip flop weather. I believe they have snacks and drinks but I didn't look into it. The restrooms were nice as well. I recommend checking in and signing the waiver on your phone. We will definitely return. read more

My nephew and I visited the venue for a birthday party. You have to prepare yourself for sensory overload. Once you walk in it's children's screaming and playing everywhere- as they should! There are cubbies for shoes in the entryway. Adults are offered shoe covers. No one is allowed in the play area with shoes. Food and drinks were provided by the party so I don't know about the food sold at the venue. The play area was clean and contained a variety of play options to entertain children ages 3-10years old. We attended a birthday party today and I was shocked by the sheer volume of people in the building at one time. Upon entering the play area, I noticed the no shoes rule was not enforced as multiple individuals were wearing shoes. I also noticed the amount of dust and broken structures. It did not appear to be any organization or guidance when checking in. We were confused about where to place gifts, party room, etc. My five year old seemed to have fun but ended up crying a few times after being knocked down by older children. I had to hold my three year olds hand the entire time to make sure he was not knocked or pushed down. This is not normal for him as he usually holds his own at indoor playgrounds such as totsville and urban air. When you go to the top of the main structure there is a pit with multiple straps that you can crawl or fall down. Some of the straps are broken and I witnessed kids tearing up their skin as they fell down almost four layers of these straps. You could also see layers of dust that must have been there for a while along with chip bags, socks, and other debris. The host for the party was subpar at best. She passed out pizza and disappeared. Then came back and asked if the birthday boys mother needed help with the cupcakes. At that point it was too late. Overall, it was the worst indoor playground I have been to in the Anne Arundel and Howard county area. Multiple parents including myself expressed how we would never come back to a party at HyperKidz. Cutting back on capacity, cleaning and keeping up with the fixtures could possibly turn this place around. read more

I visited with my toddler on a weekday around 1:30. There were a few other "groups" there, but it was mostly empty until about 5:00 ; which is when we left anyway. They close for 30 minutes to do a deep cleaning daily. There's not much around during that time so plan accordingly. Hand sanitizer was spread throughout and masks were being worn. I like that on weekdays it's unlimited play. There are 4 areas loosely divided by age. The tots area is a lot of soft climbing features and a water pillow. The little kids area has a few unique merry go round like toys and a large block play area. This may be where one of the balloon or ball rooms was because this area is stark. The highlight is the "big kids" area, but there is still plenty here for a toddler. Trampolines, tunnels, large bumpy slides, and lots of ropes. A fourth area appears as an afterthought but it seems like it houses a ball pit or balloon room. There are a couple slides and a merry go round but not much else. Restrooms seemed clean and cared for too. I'd return here again on a weekday but would be hesitant on a weekend where I can see it being too crowded for comfort. read more

Our toddler really enjoyed this place! They also give out free socks since you can't wear shoes in the main area. I took off a star because the areas for under 2 year olds was very small. And there are way too many bigger kids in the baby/toddler sections for it to really be safe. We held our toddlers hand the whole time and he still had a lot of fun. I'm not sure if this is a place we will come to often, but maybe once a year. I do think they should have wipes available or hand sanitizer throughout the place. The only bad thing about this place is that it's basically a giant jungle gym, so you have no idea where your kids are the whole time. It's a play all day, and they even have a lunch menu, but you can leave and come back as long as you still have your bracelets on. They have party rooms, but we just came for open play. read more

We were looking for a place to bring our three year old, where she could run around, play and be around other kids in a safe environment. We found it in this place. This place is very similar to a fun indoor playground chain in Southern California called Jump 'N Jammin', yet I do believe Hyper Kidz has the slight advantage. A huge multi-level play maze for kids to climb, slide, bounce and have fun in, a little dance floor which lights up wherever you step, slides that enter into a little ball arena, wacky swings and other things to keep little ones busy for hours. There's also a little play area for kids two and under so they don't have to deal with the more rambunctious older kids. They also have rooms for parties (there were about four during the time we were there). And there's free wi-fi which came in handy since my cell reception was rather poor in there. All of the staff members (and the majority of patrons) followed the instruction at the front door and were wearing masks (for future readers, there was a pandemic going on when this review was posted). And one other reviewer indicated the floors were so slippery, kids were slipping and falling with every step they took. I have no idea what was going on with that family, but the floors were not particularly slippery and not one person slipped and fell while we were there (and kids were running all over the place). Keep in mind, you ARE wearing socks (a requirement) which typically don't have tread on them, so you're not going to have as much traction as you do with shoes on. Having said that, while it's conceivable that people who lack coordination when they walk may find walking in socks a challenge and may skip, it's not as if the average person would have a problem with walking across the room in this place. Nice price, and a great place to tire your kids out while they have tons of fun (and possibly make new friends). And as long as parents keep their kids in line when they start to misbehave (as was the case during our visit), it makes for a fun time for everyone. I highly recommend this place for kids. One word of advice for the adults who insist on showing their kids how cool they are: the play areas are designed for kids - be the adult and stay off the slides. read more

We booked a party here for my son and I will never do that again! They book way too many parties so they're back to back. You only have the party room for a short period of time which meant our guests had no access to the food or water we brought. The room was dirty when we walked in for our party room time. The decorations we provided weren't put up. Our goodie bags weren't put out and neither were the cupcakes. I was the one setting all that up after our party room time had started and the one serving our guests pizza and food. We didn't have enough cups, plates, or utensils for our guests which were supposed to be provided by the venue. Our "designated party helper" was no where to be found. Our cart with the presents and all our food items and decorations was left by the front door unattended until our room was ready. They even lost one of our presents which wasn't found and returned until we were leaving. It was way too expensive for what you get. As for the venue itself, the equipment is in disrepair, there was tons of dust, dirt and debris all over the place. Many areas are broken and dangerous. Lots of the safety netting has tears or is even missing. They overbook and I would guess were way over maximum capacity for the facility. Kids were getting hurt all over the place in the facility including one of our guests. Older kids were being rough and knocking down little kids in the play structures. They were very lax about letting kids (even very young kids) in and out of the play area to where the doors and shoes are. I would be nervous about a child getting lost, slipping outside alone or even worse. I spoke with someone from the facility about our experience and they take zero responsibility. I've noticed they do the same thing in all their Yelp responses too. Avoid this place at all costs! Can a manager please give me a call! My family visited on Wednesday, November 29th. We have been to Hyperkidz many, many, many times before and never experienced anything like we did that day. My daughter's crocs were stolen. They were stolen from the cubby at some point and it was only discovered when we were leaving. In addition, I accidentally left my library book in all the confusion of trying to recover my daughter's shoes. The associates there could not or would not give me the manager's name or phone number, they just said I would get a call the next day. Guess what happened? NO PHONE CALL! So, I called Thursday evening and twice on Friday. Mind you, the phone number to this place is a general number that only gives you options for directions, prices, hours and to book a party. There is no way to speak to a manager/owner/associate. On Saturday, December 2nd my husband goes there since we've gotten no answer. The associate magically gives my husband my daughter's shoes with ABSOLUTELY NO EXPLANATION, APOLOGY - NOTHING! Were my daughter's shoes stolen and then returned? Did an associate hide them on purpose? My library book, on the other hand is nowhere to be seen. I'm not sure what's going on here, but it's extremely concerning that if you have a problem, concern or issue it's impossible to reach or talk to a manager. After many, many visits here it really makes me reconsider patronizing this establishment. This past week it is missing shoes and a forgotten library book that's still missing, what's next? I left a very honest review about my bad experience at Hyperkidz Columbia that happened 9 months ago (broken arm) and how the facility is unsafe and incidents get poorly handled, and apparently the management did not believe anyone would ever dare to leave them a negative comment, so they replied very disrespectfully. they claimed someone else is posting instead of me, which is not true. They claimed the incident has happened 1.5 years ago, not true. They said we have harassed the staff and have been asked to leave, not true. they claimed I have asked for money, not true. The insurance company handles that not the facility and they did cover all my bills. And other false claims. The way they handle a negative comment and call it a scam and threaten to go legal against freedom of speech is unprofessional. Most my friends have had bad experiences with this company. This would be my last review about Hyperkidz since it triggers my ptsd really bad. I hope Hyperkidz improves their safety and management as it is a fun place for kids regardless . read more

I have brought my kids here a handful of times before, and my parents decided to take them last Saturday. They told me that despite there being barely any space to stand to check in, they were still allowing kids and families to come in. My son ended up sustaining a blow to the back of his head that was bleeding until my mother stopped it with pressure and an ice pack she had to demand from an employee. He said that another kid pushed him into a structure and since my kid is just 4, a lot of details were lost. The manager offered to pay medical bills if my parents decided to call an ambulance or take him to urgent care if his bleeding didn't stop. Sadly I don't think my parents will ever take the kids to this indoor playground again. They don't have the ability to crawl into the play spaces with the kids and watch them like younger parents can. And I know accidents can happen when kids are playing with other kids, but it looks like the employees are focused on birthday parties and cleaning during the weekends. There are some cameras around but I didn't notice any inside some potentially risky areas of the playground like a trampoline section and a section where adults aren't allowed to go to since you'd just fall. Perhaps some practices to help kids be safer: 1) Limiting the amount of people would help kids be safer, because it seems they don't count the birthday attendees as playground attendees, even though the kids and adults are allowed to play for the time they are there. And if they aren't, the place is super packed with families celebrating birthdays on the weekends. 2) Have ice packs and first aid supplies readily available for potential injuries, as well as employees trained to treat common injuries. What a great place for our 4 and 2 year old boys. They had areas for both of them, but they were able to go to all areas as well and all areas they most definitely went to. Slides, trampolines, ball blasters, things to climb, build and create. Hyper Kidz is all the boys are talking about. Seats throughout for the parents to sit and watch, read or eat (smart move Hyper Kidz). Look for different deals on their facebook page, Tuesdays is the day to go. Another plus, once you pay for the day, you can leave and go as you please, so we left and went back after lunch to play some more. My tips would be to sign the waiver online before you go, remember NO-SLIP socks for the kiddos, and be prepared to run around with them! This place is big with lots of different areas to explore. We went on a Monday around 2pm and it pretty quiet until 4pm when school ended. Wish they had a location in Montgomery County. The indoor playgrounds in my area cost about $30 and have a 2 hour limit. My 2-year old had a blast running around this place for 3 hours (there is no time limit) and the admission fee was $10. He passed out in the car on the way home. There are party rooms, a diaper changing station in the restroom, and a lactation room. read more

We just had our son's third birthday party at HyperKidz this past weekend and after the care and attention we received from the GM Melissa I will be a loyal customer for life! The morning of our party (scheduled to start at 9:45) our area was hit with a surprise snowstorm. Since we couldn't reach anyone before we had to leave to make it on time we headed to the Columbia location and received cancellation after cancellation from friends and family on the way there. When we arrived I told Melissa how bummed we were that our kiddo was going to miss out since the conditions made it impossible for our guests to join and she immediately came up with a solution to provide us with a special day but also saved us the financial burden of the same size party. She in no way had to do this, their policy is clear on cancelling or rescheduling, but she took amazing care of us and the kids had a blast! Melissa made an overwhelming day so great for us and we are so deeply grateful for her over the top customer service and eagerness to ensure we had a great time. I can't say enough good things, truly blown away. Also worth noting: the staff was patient and kind, and the facilities were clean. Looking forward to our next visit. *would have deducted a half star because it gets crazy busy on weekends but I think that's a given with any place like this. read more

Worker cussed me out. My two children had a birthday there for ages 2 and 4. There was no bubbles or flashing lights, as they usually do, when they sang happy birthday. The hostesses did not host. We had to set up everything and practically listen for our kids birthday announcement. The pizza was late. Serving 2 tables of kids pizza, the hostesses were not around. No trash can. I said something to one of the hostesses as I was carrying the gifts alone to my car, that was when I got cursed out. The employee was let go. Never again. I regret spending money on this place. My 4 year old son of course ran around and loved it, but the moment I saw that dangerous, multilayered, square, crisscrossed black strapped, death trap inside the bigger structure, I had to follow him every time he ran in there and remind him to go around it. Even if he or another kid were careful, it would be easy to fall into it and break your neck going down through the large spaces between straps. A small kid could easily fall through the spaces. I could never feel safe enough to let him go in there alone. And since it's the main attraction ( not enough outside of that to keep him occupied) I felt it necessary to escort him every single time he ran in there and he ran fast. And many many times. So basically my experience was spending 15 bucks to chase my kid around to keep him safe, while sweating and breathless. I saw scared caretakers everywhere inside of there. I honestly don't understand how that part of the structure is legal. It's almost like they are fine if our kids die on it. It's no wonder they make you sign a waiver before you go. Also my extroverted son kept saying hello to the employee who was wiping doing the equipment. She said NOTHING back and gave him a dirty look every single time. Like "get out of my way, you pesky kid" It's a death and money trap. It's big and colorful like an irresistible lure. No thanks. My son was dysregulated for most of the day because of me constantly having to tell him no, don't touch this, don't go there, don't do this. So if you are hoping for a stress free experience, think again. If you want to leave 100% certain your kid will survive their experience there, think again. Also a lot of broken and outdated things. Kid sized (kid created?) holes in the safety nets. The ability to fall between spaces is easy. This place is a great for children and playdates. There are so many things to do and I like that it caters to children up to age 13. It reminds me up my days of Discovery Zone. Oh... memories. With that being said, I don't think it's worth it to have a birthday party here. It feels rushed. It took us a while to get in our room, we only had enough time for the children to eat pizza, cut and eat cake and then we were rushed out again. And there's not much seating for us adults, who are relatives to the birthday child, without children. Also, the floor attendants were fairly young and didn't pay attention to certain hazards like stopping larger children from running so that they wouldn't run into small children or making sure that dance party floor was clear of the bubble fluid before being used again. My family was forced to pay full price of $16.99 for my teenage daughters age 14 1/2 and 15 1/2, after they accompanied my married sons and their families to help out. They were told because they were on the equipment, they were playing. They were helping toddlers to navigate the mazes etc. My kids aren't interested in going there to play at their age: At the most they should have been charged as a 3rd adult. My grandsons love this place! I am sorry some reviewers had a less than positive time but I don't share their views. I have been there multiple times with my now 2 two year old grandsons. We started about a year ago. I go at starting time and we usually have the place to ourselves for about half an hour. It does get crowed on weekends but usually after about two hours grandad is exhausted and we leave before it gets too full. Today, a Tuesday morning we were the only ones there until 9:45. We left at 11:30 and there were at most 30 people there including adults. The staff has been generally very attentive. Today, for example, my grandson fell off one of the kids chair while I was taking a picture. Two staff members rushed in. While I was picking him up one brought a bottle of water and an ice pack.
