We've visited this location a few times and it's been a great option for homeschooling families since they offer a consistent weekly timeslot. It's never overly crowded or loud, which makes it easy to enjoy the space. You're also allowed to bring your own lunch and drinks, which is a nice bonus. Another big improvement is the change in music. They now play jazz--no singing and no inappropriate lyrics--which creates a much more wholesome atmosphere. The only downside is the arcade setup. Instead of using quarters, you now have to purchase a game card loaded with credits. The simplicity of old-school coin-operated games is definitely missed. read more

ClimbZone lived up to our highest of expectations. On our list for a long time, ClimbZone was the host of my daughter's classmate's birthday party. We signed waivers ahead of time and were checked in right away when we got there. Under one large roof are dozens of themed indoor climbing walls. There's a Candy Land one, a rubber duck one, one with emojis, and more. Once you go through a quick training, you get a harness. Every wall has an auto belay making it easy to clip in and out while being safe. There's a wall for all experience levels. There are restrooms, drinking fountains, party rooms, and an arcade. i took my granddaughter there with a few relatives for her birthday. It was a nice crowd. We did the Groupon package which was enough. There were 4 kids and two hours spent there was more than plenty. I will certainly take them back. My 8 and 16 year old grands had a ball. We didn't do a party there, so I can't rate the party service. Luckily, an attendant was walking by and saw that my 16 year hadn't locked himself in all the way. We are forever grateful. We're here twice a week with the kids when in DC. Not a terribly far drive as long as you avoid rush hour. Definitely worth getting there at 10am / when they open. Most of the kids can only really go for 90 minutes. We started them at 4 1/2 but for most 5-6 means they can do the Blue routes as well as some of the Yellow ones. Sprinkle in a few game (not cheap, prices vary). If you're a mom or dad under the gun for some high return ticket options, and you have good reaction times, sneak few games in at the Marvel Avengers game if the big balls are close to the edge or packed together (get all the infinity stones and you get like 500 tickets), also the Pearl Drop can get you a quick 40-50. As can the Red Ball Drop into the rotating buckets. Worst case, you get some solid credit card thickness Avengers cards with the first one. For fun two player games, the Frozen Zombie Troll one where the guns fire real water and there's an ice machine effect is wildly fun and not too challenges. read more

My kids and I spent a few hours at Climbzone recently. Overall, it was an ok experience. What we liked: *A variety of climbing walls *Clearly labeled ability levels on the walls *Lines move quickly, even on a day where two busses pulled in at the same time as us, my kids didn't have to wait too long for any wall *Training session prior to climbing gave them all the information they needed So why not five stars? *Game area prices are not easy for kids to follow. Got a game card for each kid as part of our entrance fee. The cost of games were not in dollars (in "credits" I think?) even though that's what we put on the card. It was hard for my 8 year old to follow. *I didn't find the employees super helpful. This could be due to being overwhelmed by the two busses *Bathrooms were pretty gross during our visit *For the first twenty minutes we were there, there was a bad smell (like burning rubber) in Climbzone. I'm not sure what happened but it was definitely not pleasant. Overall ClimbZone was a fine way to handle a hot summer day. We will probably be back again. read more

Took my kids here to try something new and have mixed feelings about the experience. Starting with the good: Staff - the staff was pretty great: very kind, acted silly with our kids, got them all set up. They were very polite and professional. Ease of access - I also think the set up: free climbing options for the kids was awesome, it's really accessible and easy. It was busy (weekend) when we visited but not overwhelming), never really had to wait long to climb. Kiss soft play zone - our youngest wasn't interested in climbing, but he loved the soft play zone. I thought this space could have been bigger, but for what it was my 3 year old enjoyed it. Slight negative: there is a giant broken piece of the playground covered in caution tape under/in the soft play zone. The caution tape means nothing to my toddler and they could easily get onto this broken item. Safety hazard for sure. Negatives: Condition of climbing walls - the walls need some love. They clearly get a lot of use and I was surprised to see that many of them had super obvious signs of wear. Not a big deal but an indicator of the state of the place as a whole. Cleanliness- my biggest gripe: this place is dirty. There is no getting around it. The bathrooms were disgusting. There is a small stool for kids to use to reach the sinks that had streaks of where dirty liquid dripped down. I've been in cleaner gas station bathrooms. The tables all had food on them: half eaten pizza, left over drinks. Plenty of staff and no one was cleaning up. Overall I felt like my whole family needed a shower after our visit. Will we return? Maybe? Hoping that going early when they open will provide a different experience. read more

My children ( ages 3, 7, and 13) had the best time. We came on a Sunday from noon until 2 p.m. The crowd started moving in around 1 but never felt packed. The parking however is limited. The atmosphere was family friendly, safe and clean. There are around 10 4 -person tables and you can bring in your own food and drinks. The climbing wall area also has benches for spectators. They have a small arcade area but it is mostly claw-type games and my kids weren't interested. My older two climbed every wall available multiple times and only had to wait for another patron to finish a handful of times. Some walls were more difficult and they enjoyed the challenge. My youngest refused to climb but enjoyed the soft play area. The staff was helpful and friendly. We will absolutely be back. It's a great place for any age. read more

This place is super neat and so much fun for the entire family! There are so many rock walls that vary at level of ease. It's a really good workout so don't hit a heavy upper body day before coming here. The staff was supposed to train us before we started but they only put the harness on us so we had to ask other staff members what to do. I saw really little kids climbing the walls and larger size adults plus they have a little play area if you might have a kid too small or uninterested in the walls. Chaperoned my 5 YO daughter here on a field trip with her camp. The campers' ages ranged from 5-13. The place was very well-lit and appeared to be pretty clean. It felt pretty inviting when I walked in. There were several climbing walls (over 70 of them, I believe) as well as a playground area, which they consider the "Soft Play" area, for the smaller kids. The older kids loved it as they had a variety of climbing walls to choose from and an arcade. I wouldn't recommend it for kids that are small or afraid to actually climb. I noticed the 5 & 6 year olds were in the play area. For the price, we could have gone to the park, but the little ones definitely still managed to have a great time playing with friends the entire time. read more

First the good, the front desk and most of the staff were helpful and friendly. I would probably return if it were closer to my house. Customer service really makes or breaks these sorts of experiences for me. It was fine for my older kids - 7 and 5. They had a good time. But zero instruction on how to use the harness and no instructions on what to do first, ie clip in and then release the ground clip. They're a bunch of kids running the place. One of them had a job to sit inside the soft play area and lay down. Not sure what he was supposed to be doing. It was uncomfortable. Bathrooms had loose faucets that were also running the whole time. Ground was filthy. Looks like it hasn't been cleaned in about 5 years. I think it's fun for kids but don't look too closely. Adults definitely can tell the place could use a deep clean and some TLC. Many of the walls were closed. And oddly enough they don't have a hook to bring down the harnesses that got released to the top. For a real climbing experience go to Earth Treks, but this is good for kids. read more

I booked them for my daughter's 7th birthday party and everything was seamless. Their website was pretty straightforward and stated that they would provide eating supplies and tablecloths. Each child's name was to be submitted prior to the party so they can keep track of my guest list. My daughter's party was themed so I brought my own supplies just in case. I arrived a little early and was immediately introduced to my attendant who showed me the room where I could set up. There was enough space and tables available to set up how I wanted. As the guests arrived, the attendant checked them off the list and harnessed them to climb. I didn't have to do anything during the party besides mingling with the guests and I loved that. The attendant was very helpful and was able to answer every question I had throughout. Guests who want to book a party should note that the room is only available during the designated party time. After two hours, we were kindly told that we had to leave the room so they could clean it but we could stay and play in the facility as long as we want. That was fine because they have plenty of tables and seats available. Prior to booking a birthday party, I had never even heard of ClimbZone so I took a risk and was pleasantly surprised. They have plenty of space and parking. I loved all the walls and it was nice to see the various themes. It was also nice that they had games available for guests to play. The attendant was really helpful and easy to reach when necessary. Overall, I had a great experience and my guests had a great time. While on a trip to Maryland in July we connected with family and took all the kids to ClimbZone. There were 4 kids in our group (4 year old, two 7 year olds, & a 9 year old). This was the first time that the kids had been here and they had a blast. The older kids in the group were able to easily negotiate climbing up and coming down on their own. On a few occasions the 4 year old needed a little help coming down but the staff was quick to come to the rescue. Wow this place is so amazingly fun! I brought my goddaughter here for our weekend time together and it was something special to experience. Climb Zone is nestled in a district of commercial buildings in the Laurel area just minutes off of Route 1. There is plenty of parking and you cannot miss the bright yellow & blue signage when approaching the building. I always do my research when planning a weekend of fun so I was able to sign up for our time slot on their website as well as the waiver. You do have the option to walk-in & register. Our check in was easy since I paid and did everything online ahead of time. We were then given our harnesses and proceeded to the training zone to learn how to hook & unhook before climbing. Overall, it took less then 5 mins. There are 4 different levels when venturing out to climb- Blue is the easiest, Yellow & Orange are mid-level, and Red was hard\most difficult. I had a challenge on all of them LOL. My goddaughter did it like a pro and there were quite a few groups of various ages ranging from kids parties to groups of adults doing the climbs. Top 40 songs are playing and staff is nearby most of the time. They have light snacks and bottled beverages for purchase, 2 basketball arcade games, and 2 moon bounces. This place is 1 of a kind and reasonably-priced. I just pray they sanitize everything when each day is over. We enjoyed ourselves and the smile on my goddaughter's face throughout was priceless. read more

Went to visit on a Friday about 330, and there was plenty of parking. We weren't quite sure what to expect, but my little one absolutely loved it. The workers all seemed to be fairly young, but the customer service from them all from the initial entrance to the front desk, to the harness area, and all throughout the climb zone was a 10 out of 10!!!! Every time my little one needed assistance, before I could blink there was someone there to assist. Even had an employee climb the wall to physically show my little one how to come down off the wall without being afraid. The place is so spacious, we never had to wait to try a new wall to climb. We played video games after climbing, and even won a few tickets to choose a prize. Not sure of what the food situation was, but I will absolutely recommend this place for play dates and a spot for adults too. read more

What didn't go well??? I visited with my three-year old son today. We were welcomed promptly and kindly with the manager who urged us to first look around. We decided to purchase an arcade card but had trouble operating it which we were refunded for without questions. My son then expressed interest in soft play and the manager gave us free socks without expectations or solicitation. Lastly, we were fascinated by the climbing walls. This place is so much fun! I've been here twice now and I really like it. The first time was just with my wife and daughter and the second was with my daughters Girl Scout Troop. I can honestly say that we all had a blast both times. Lots of walls to choose from with a good variable for difficulty. Each wall has a unique motif and challenge to keep the kids(and me) interested. The staff is very friendly and attentive. They give a brief safety demonstration before setting everyone lose onto the walls and then do a good job of keeping an eye on everyone. The facility is clean and they can accommodate large birthday parties in their tent like section. They also have a bunch of tables up front where non climbers can set up camp at. If the kids get bored of climbing, they have a bounce house and bounce house slide to keep them from driving you nuts lol Anyway give these guys a try if you haven't yet. It's a blast read more

I had my kid's birthday party here. Big mistake. 1) We paid $450, the extra money so that they would decorate the private room. There was zero decoration. white tableclothes and blue plates and cups. They said that they would decorate it in Harry Potter theme. There was NOTHING. 2)The "party coordinator" put on a couple of the kids harnesses then dissapeared. He assured us that he would greet and direct our guests towards our room but didn't. We had to go find them and tell them how to check in and wait in line with every other guest. 3) We paid for drinks and chips. Our "party coordinator" told us that they wouldn't provide drinks, even though they told us they would have the drinks we requested. So we ended up having to fill up the kids cups with drinking fountain water as they ate the pizza we brought in. The party coordinator did come around with a box of potato chips, no selection, and hand them out to kids that wanted them. 4) The real issue with this place is that parents need to hook/unhook kids from each climbing wall. Which means that each kid needs someone following them around. The staff does not do this at all. It is a ton of work, let alone trying to decorate and run a birthday party be yourself. Overall, I can't figure out the function of the staff or the "party coordinator". They over promised and under delivered on critical things. If you are not going to provide drinks, then don't promise me for them and charge for them. If you are not going to decorate, then don't tell me you are going to or I would bring my own and certainly not have paid for you to do it. The whole experience was underwhelming. read more

Kids had a wonderful time here.....found this little gem on KidsFirst website and came here to see what it was about. First you walk in and there really isn't anyone here to explain the process. After a few minutes I was approached by a staff member who told us to go to the right and get harnessed. After that we were basically on our own! There are about 40 something objects in the wall to climb. It's a great place for kids to get in some sneaky exercises but would've appreciated more interaction between the staff! The food purchase options were okay and they allow you to order food for delivery. The time limit given is excellent because it won't keep a lot of people there all at once. Outstanding. Took our daughter (4 y.o.) here today. She's never climbed before, but it only took her a few minutes to take to it. The auto-belay system works great and really made her feel safe. Great staff and well-maintained facility with appealing climbing walls. Good spread of difficulty - my daughter is small for her age but she was able to have a lot of fun and thoroughly wear herself out. Overall a very positive experience, and a great opportunity for her to try something totally new and take "safe risks". I really enjoyed this place with my family. It is big enough that you can spread out. Everyone I saw was wearing a mask, adults and kids. They closed the play area and bounces due to the pandemic, which makes sense. The bottle neck was waiting to get your harness. We had the opportunity to come to climb zone for a birthday party, and we had a blast. This place is such a unique and fun concept. The had over 70 different themed walls with hydraulic pulley systems so you can rock climb solo with no need for a belayer. The themes were lots of fun and ranged from easy to difficult. The facility was fairly clean. Some of the walls showed some excessive use, but I was told they're rotated out fairly often. The bathrooms were gross, thought they did have a separate are with a changing table and nursing area. Every employee I encountered (and there were a TON) was very friendly. My only complaint is the employees monitoring the walls themselves. Multiple times I saw them grouped up, chatting and not paying attention while unattended children struggled to get clipped/unclipped to walls. One employee was even snacking on Skittles while chatting and not paying attention. The employees assigned to the training areas were great. Isiah was especially helpful. The party was at 1pm on a Saturday and while the place was crowded with at least 4 other birthday parties, we never waited more than two minutes for a wall. Most of the time there was never a line. Which was definitely awesome. Prices are a little steep at $25 a person for 3 hours. BUT I would definitely consider coming here again with the whole family. read more

First time visiting and this place screams Funtime! Be warned I thought i could walk right in but they only let a certain number of people in at a time so it's best to make a reservation. When you make a reservation online you get to pick your 3-hour time slot and you must prepay. We arrived 30 mins later than our start time and she extended our endtime by half hour even though we were late. We went to the "training station" where they helped us into our harnesses and told us to hook on. Once we were ready to explore we needed to be shown again how to hook and there was no one to be found who worked there!! So a kind stranger showed us! It was a blast and my tween had fun climbing for the first time! I tried it myself but after a couple tries...I needed to keep my buns on the ground!! There's also bounce houses for the little kids and we saw several birthday parties while there! It was worth the trip!! read more
