Parking was great! The yellow trail only 1.6 miles round trip, it was an easy out and back flat trail awesome for kiddies and/or doggies. Hike down to the river or wander at the top, taking in all the views across the water to the brown trail (higher up with various inclines). All in all a nice hiking option conveniently located in Savage Mill off of Route 1 in Laurel.

It's a cool trail. They need to do some landscaping because the truck is block on the entrance I came in. I got perhaps a 3 mile walk and then it looks like you have to start climbing over falling trees.

Wincopin Trail starts at 9299 Vollmerhausen Road, Jessup, MD 20794 https://www.howardcountymd.gov/Departments/Recreation-and-Parks/Parks-and-Planning/Park-Directory/Wincopin-Trails Only took the red trail. One steep climb. Looks like the trail could use an update on the markers as along the way they are always the same color and seem faded. Nice view of a creek but as others have noted you can hear some road noise, a trade off as this is easy to get to. There's a porta potty at this end of the trail.

Very nice place to explore in any season . Usually Not too busy and trails are wide so you're not ontop of people. Calming water and scenery . Also very easy trail and if you want to go down to the water, there's wide stairs - so it's kid friendly as well !

This is a nice little rustic trail. The main trail is well kept and runs along the stream. It's entrance sits next to a very historic iron bridge (last one of it's kind). There are a small number of more rugged off paths to wander a little bit more. There are a number of paths and stairs down to the stream, which has plenty of rocks to sit and bask in the sun and take in the sounds, smells, and sights of nature. There is a small ruins of the Savage Mill along the stream, and on the other side of the stream the old Savage Foundry has a rustic restaurant with outdoor dining overlooking the park. There are a number of port-a-pots, and lots of trash cans (with liners), and a couple of nice picnic tables on the trail. My wife and I intent to return a check out this lovely little gem again and indulge our curiosity of the Foundry Restaurant.

Easy paved trail with my 3 and 6 year olds. Next time we'll bring swim suit ms to go in the water.

Trails are very well maintained and marked - almost too well (less of a wild feel). Only the very start is paved, don't despair, it gets more interesting. Decent circuit trail routes, can be added together for more mileage. I did a variation following the water which made my completed route 3.14 miles. Various bits of history tucked away in the young woodland- read up about the quarries and railroads if you're into local history. That's what those massive granite abutments (with no bridge to match) are all about. Lots of riverbank access. Decent number of toads on and near the trail at dusk. Road noise from I-95 on the western side but overall surprisingly peaceful escape from suburbia. This sort of open space is a major perk of living in Maryland.

We traveled down along the stream and at one point we took advantage of this beautiful backdrop and got some great pics. Beware, on this trail there are a lot of tree roots and rocks peeking from the ground and waiting to trip you. I know this because we tripped on more then one occasion:) The route is a loop and there are red and blue markings throughout the trail. At one point we were a little turned around, but the red markings and the "P" with and arrow directed us back to the parking lot. We truly enjoyed our hike and if you do the entire trail it's about 3.5 miles. Also, expect some elevation at points, but all in all I would say it's an easy to moderate trail to walk depending on your fitness level.

Great for Running! Great trails!…read more Savage park is a great place for just about anyone! From your ball players (basketball, football or baseball) to your bikers, runners and walkers, you can find them all here. Some of the BIG pluses for Savage park are 1. it is very quiet. It is not located near any huge complexes or highways so it can be very quiet here. 2. Plenty of room for activities. The park is pretty spread out so you do not feel over crowded like you sometimes do at Centennial. and 3. Plenty of well maintained trails. The trails are nice, clean and offer varied degrees of difficultly. The Patuxent Branch tails starts or ends here, depending out direction and this trail goes everywhere! and offers hills, views, differing terrain, and just anything a biker/runner/walker could ask for... a must try!!! The only negatives I have seen so far are the parking, which can sometimes be tough, and mile markers and directions. In regards to parking, there are several spots in the park and just outside of the park near Savage Mill there is a ton of parking... so if you don't mind a quick walk you can park pretty easily. For mile markers and directions, there are several spots where there are maps, but they are quiet far apart. Lastly, it is slightly confusing getting in a around the park, but its a minor issue since you can just walk across to where you need to be. Again overall, a great great park, open, clean, quiet and afterwards Rams Head is just down the street so you can grab a bite or grab a beer!! So put on those sneakers and hit the pavement, your New Years resolution won't resolve it's self!! Cheers!!

Notably, the parking lot requires an advance reservation on peak dates, and this policy has been expanded to cover more dates due to the pandemic lockdown pushing people to spend their days outdoors. The trail is a short loop to the falls. Great Falls this isn't, but it's significant enough to generate a nice spray. A rather upset-looking fish flopped down shallow water as I approached. Upstream of the falls was a challenge. Few fords were viable, perhaps owing to heavy rain, and signs suggesting the area was blocked off were ignored by expeditions looking for better crossings. I made it across the stream and back, but I did get a little wet. The scenery isn't worth a long drive on its own, but paired with the other local park sites, it makes for good viewing, and in particular this space with its parking limitations can't get too crowded.

After building spaceships we were taken to the planetarium so the kids could travel to space. The kids loved seeing the different stars and planets. I enjoyed the show myself as well. It's been quite some time since I've been to a planetarium. After the initial show the kids ate pizza and cake and then returned to the planetarium. The second time in the planetarium they watched a movie about the stars and evolution. It looks like there's so much to see and do here, I'll definitely have to return to experience some of the other things they have to offer. However, I can definitely recommend having a kids party here. I would say ideally for someone in kindergarten and older.

We frequent the outdoor areas with our family. They have short easy hikes that cross a little creek, excellent for kids. There is a playground with a slide, hammocks, musical instruments, building blocks, and a mud kitchen. They put on outdoor plays and they have a kids garden area where they host events and classes. We prefer the outside to the inside. The inside has a discovery play room for kids with some creatures, toys, and dress ups. There are a couple exhibits and animals to view inside as well. We attended a 3 year old birthday party here and it was a hit. They have different themes and activities. This one had a play and the kids got to meet and touch a turtle.
