One area is dedicated to wooded trails and flying disc activities, while the other features sports courts and extended trails. Walking along the snow-covered trails offered a unique, serene experience, with the peacefulness of the setting enhanced by sunlight gently filtering through the woods. Columbia is known for all the nature trails, lakes, villages etc. This particular trail is my "to…read morego" since it's very close in proximity. I usually do my walks, bike rides with my dad and daughter, jogs and you might see me with a jumprope. Just a good trail for some fresh air and to get my steps in! It can be a bit crowded at time but the people do practice social distancing / wear mask.

From being welcomed at the…read moredesk (I am so sorry I can't remember his name!), to our awesome guides Justin and Jasmine, to Scott who helped at the swing and doing the belay to get us down - we truly enjoyed the whole experience (despite the unbearable heat this weekend). Justin and Jasmine made sure we stayed hydrated, and regularly brought us into the air conditioning to avoid overheating. They ensured our safety every moment we were there. The rope course was insanely fun, the giant swing and zip line were a blast and our favorite part was honestly the rock climbing! Justin and Jasmine were fantastic - we will definitely come back (preferably not during a heat wave haha) and hope they will be our guides again - every single person today made it memorable for my family! Great for Running! Great trails!…read more Savage park is a great place for just about anyone! From your ball players (basketball, football or baseball) to your bikers, runners and walkers, you can find them all here. Some of the BIG pluses for Savage park are 1. it is very quiet. It is not located near any huge complexes or highways so it can be very quiet here. 2. Plenty of room for activities. The park is pretty spread out so you do not feel over crowded like you sometimes do at Centennial. and 3. Plenty of well maintained trails. The trails are nice, clean and offer varied degrees of difficultly. The Patuxent Branch tails starts or ends here, depending out direction and this trail goes everywhere! and offers hills, views, differing terrain, and just anything a biker/runner/walker could ask for... a must try!!! The only negatives I have seen so far are the parking, which can sometimes be tough, and mile markers and directions. In regards to parking, there are several spots in the park and just outside of the park near Savage Mill there is a ton of parking... so if you don't mind a quick walk you can park pretty easily. For mile markers and directions, there are several spots where there are maps, but they are quiet far apart. Lastly, it is slightly confusing getting in a around the park, but its a minor issue since you can just walk across to where you need to be. Again overall, a great great park, open, clean, quiet and afterwards Rams Head is just down the street so you can grab a bite or grab a beer!! So put on those sneakers and hit the pavement, your New Years resolution won't resolve it's self!! Cheers!!

It even has disability friendly options and party zones. I love taking my kids here to just run free. The only downfall I see is when some neighborhood teenagers come around and play aggressive tag games and curse. It is a place for smaller children and they are welcome, but bring inappropriate and unsafe behaviors.

This is the North Tract public entrance to the Patuxent Reseach Refuge (close to Fort Meade). There…read moreis a South Tract entrance deeper into Laurel. Very nice place to bike, hike, explore. There are many displays with information suitable for school age kids and students of all ages. The staff and volunteers are knowledgable and friendly. We went primarily to ride our new gravel bikes. There is paved road (Wildlife Loop, except it isn't a full paved loop). There are multiple multi use, unpaved trails. They are of various degrees of difficulty. We are just starting, so only went a mile or so up each. We will keep coming back and working on our skills and confidence. It's not totally flat, but not too difficult if you know how to use your bikes gears. From our limited experience the weekends are busier. We went on a weekday and it was mostly empty. Parking lot (with bike racks on rear) can be a little tight at the visitor center.
