Ali'i Kayaks - Paddling!

On May 5, 2026 my husband and I went on a Kayaking adventure with Ali'i Kayaks in Wailua, Kauai…read more This was our first kayaking experience and it did not disappoint! Our guide for the day was "K-man". He was awesome! He had a great personality, was very knowledgeable and was funny. He was also great with names; he remembered everyone's, and he made it a point to make conversation with everyone single one of us. Our adventure started off by meeting at the office/pick up location. Then we loaded up into a van and made the short drive to the slipway. There we selected kayaks and were given oars and life jackets. Once we got situated, we hit the water. The weather that day was perfect; the sun was out with some clouds, and there was a light, constant breeze. Our journey on the water was a beautiful one. The water was cool, the scenery was green. I'll admit, the kayaking distance was a bit challenging. Maybe a bit more so as my husband and I are competitive and we were nearly racing with another couple. LOL! Once we reached shore, we gathered up and made our way to the hiking path. Honestly, the hike itself is not hard, with the exception of a few spots that may require teamwork/assistance. (**READ TIPS BELOW) Once we reached the waterfall, most of us went into the water. We stayed there for about 20-30 minutes. Our guide never rushed us. He sat back and let us enjoy ourselves. It was only when we all gathered up again that we headed back, same hike in reverse back to the kayaks. Once in the kayaks it was the same way back as well. The scenery was VERY beautiful. Several pictures were taken. Overall we had a great day. We would definitely recommend to anyone who has never been to Kauai and to anyone who is interested in being surrounded by beautiful scenery. TIPS: - [ ] Wear good shoes! The terrain can be unstable due to river rocks, tree roots, mud, and uneven ground. Your feet WILL get soaked and the ground is unstable. My husband and I both opted to wear sneakers that we were ready to retire. When we were done we threw them away. Another couple wore aqua shoes and they said they were extremely uncomfortable: good for water, bad for the rough terrain. Another couple wore brand new hiking boots and they became water logged. - [ ] Wear sunscreen!! Even if it's overcast, the harsh island sun will magnify through the clouds. - [ ] Sunglasses and a hat/visor is a wise choice. **if you wear a hat or visor, it may create a blind spot. Keep your head up! One person in our group hit their head twice on the same tree branch! - [ ] Wear clothing you can get wet. You will get wet from the waist down from the kayaking and hike. - [ ] Wear swimwear underneath your clothing. When you get to the waterfall, there is a pool of water you are able to swim in. - [ ] Bring a backpack/secure bag with water and snacks! You will need it! - [ ] Bring towels and leave them in the car. At the end of the day, when stripping off your wet shoes and socks the towels come in handy. *** For reference, our groups ages ranged from 52 to approximately early 70's.

Such a great guy with a wealth of knowledge about the land. He was very personable and made sure everyone was included in the Q & A sessions he gave throughout the tour. He had so much energy and really is a great asset to the tour company. We will absolutely come back again and ask for Kamen. The tour was a good 4-5 hours long. The things we were able to see on our hike were worth every dime spent. It was fun paddling on the river, slipping through the mud, hike up to the gorgeous waterfall. This is not something I would do with my parents who are elderly. I think the rowing alone would have worn them out. But it's the perfect trip for families with young kids. Thank you Ali'i Kayaks for a wonderful experience!

Living out on the West side and close to agricultural land (a lot of folk live adjacent to…read moreagricultural land on Oahu) its a no-brainer to think about water and air quality. Air quality aside, water quality in Hawaii is assumed to be a safe, potable water source which it very well is by national standards. However, in light of all of the concern with the Red Hill spills and a lot of industrial activity going on in both town side and the west side, agricultural activities have been going on much longer and the regulations of such activity came too late, as is always the case. Recent news articles citing the presence of PFAS, pesticides and other organic, stable compounds in groundwater is a cause of concern and you can bet it won't get any better - this is where water filtration comes to play. Some may think that a simple, detachable water filter at the faucet head or a pitcher with a replaceable filter is enough to filter out chemicals that are a cause for concern z and they do, but not all of 'em. You need, at the very least, a reverse osmosis system...this appears to be the most practical and most affordable solution to the issue. Pono revival fills a special niche in water filtration because they focus on (for now) under-the-counter reverse osmosis systems that have a activated carbon pre-filter system, then the reverse osmosis system and finished off with an alkaline mineral injection system which utilized natural sources of alkalinity (i.e., dolomite that contain potassium- and magnesium-bicarbonate) which not only adds great taste but helps to mimic water sourced from natural River beds is, generally, beyond the reach of many city folk on Oahu. Pono Revival was able to concisely explain their processes and capabilitied, their philosophy and were able to answer most, if not partially all of my questions. They are made up of a husband and wife team who are approachable and honest and do not try to sell you a product right off the bat. Instead, they challenge you to something that is very tangible: try their drinking water, as much as you'd like. If you like what you can taste and feel, then you can consider their offerings which include what was mentioned above as well as a water softener attachment for shower heads. Lastly, their system is NSF certified up to the alkaline cartridges which they claim are certified (didn't ask to see the cert.). This system is different from alkaline water which utilize electrolysis to chemically alter water molecules to create alkaline water because you end up with more dissolved solvent (which are unknown). With a reverse osmosis system, you bring that dissolved solvent concentration down to near-zero and inject natural alkaline ions which are bioavailable when ingested with water which supposedly has a myriad of positive health effects. My wife and I opted for the reverse-osmosis system for now and have enjoyed every cup and flask-full. We will consider the water softener at another time - this review may be updated if thats the case. Unfortunately they do not offer whole-home systems and there are other companies that may suit your needs in this regard. In my opinion, Pono Revival offers a quality product, excellent customer service, and look to be a promising company for the future. The install was clean and non-destructive. The owner, himself, came out to replace our old faucet with one that imo is of better quality and has a water spigot (see photos). The holding tank under the sink holds about 3 gallons and can be refilled in about an hour after being emptied. Whats great about this is that you can fill up your bottles and buckets ahead of an incoming storm or other disaster. I highly recommend this company. Visit their shop - at the very least you get a nice, refreshing cup of water.

The other two had no price tags, so I assumed they would be similar in price. When I was paying, the cashier was distracted and on the phone, so I wasn't clearly told my total. It wasn't until after the transaction that I realized I had been charged $32, which really caught me off guard. After that, I went back to ask for a refund, but they refused and said they only do exchanges, which is not what I wanted. I also had to speak with three different employees, and they all gave me the same answer without offering any real help. On top of that, I was charged an extra fee for using my debit card, even though there is a sign posted saying they do NOT charge extra for card payments. That felt very misleading. I feel like prices should be clearly marked, totals should be communicated clearly, and customers should be treated fairly. Please be careful when shopping here. You're better off going down the road to Aoki's North Shore Trading.

We've been receiving deliveries like clockwork, so I've not had to contact customer service at all. Another reason I haven't had to call them is that so many features are automated, and I mean this in a positive way. I mentioned in my initial review that I liked being able to go online and directly manage some of my account details. I just logged in to my account and the main screen is divided into: * Billing Information - where I can update my phone number, email address, and password. * Delivery Information - here also I can update my phone number and email address - for purposes of delivery, so they could be different from the billing information. Also displayed are the driver and route codes, and the next scheduled delivery date. * Account Balance - mine shows $0.00 due, probably because I have them automatically charge my credit card each month. * Open Invoices - there are no open invoices, again probably because of auto charges to my credit card. * My Deliveries - prominently shows the next delivery date, where there is a button to click to skip that delivery. Another option is to "View Deliveries." * Favorites - just has an image and description of the type of water being recurringly delivered. In the upper-left corner of the page is a menu icon, and when I click on it, the options are: * My Dashboard - takes you back to the main, initial screen. * Billing - I used this option recently to update my credit card details. * My Orders * My Account Besides their website, I receive email and phone reminders if there is a delivery scheduled for the following day. I am also able to download a PDF version of their delivery calendar, and there is even a way for me to upload the calendar of deliveries into my personal (Proton) calendar, accessible online or through my calendar app, which now shows me delivery dates for the upcoming months. I receive email invoices, and transaction & payment receipts monthly. Yes, I highly recommend Aloha Water Company. https://www.facebook.com/raymond.kaya.98/

Beach Boys catamaran sunset cruise…read more I arrived to the Nawiliwili Bay & Hulei'a River cruise boat slip to join the other passengers on a sunset cruise. This particular day, for whatever the reason, didn't have too many passengers. It made for a better cruise experience, in my opinion. After the normal safety briefing, we set off on the Kalapaki Kai II (smooth sailing gorgeous catamaran!) with the captain narrating the entire evening. While this was not a dinner cruise, we did enjoy a full service bar with light snacks during the evening. In my opinion, the cruise seemed uneventful and not very entertaining, but I am not necessarily interested in history, which is mainly what the captain spoke about during the cruise. He did a thorough job speaking about the Kauai scenery, fish ponds, mangrove trees, Haupu mountain range, Kalapaki Beach, the lighthouse, golf-course and Kauai's still-standing original hotel! We even watched numerous people surfing in the Nawiliwili Bay.... Can't say I'll see that anywhere else except Hawaii! The sunset was not anything to speak of the night of my cruise... but that is clearly out of our control! While I had a ho-hum evening... I will still highly recommend this sunset cruise! It was an incredibly smooth sail.... Short & sweet -- started at 5:30p and ended just as the sun set!
