This is a more affluent sub in Cincinnati. My friend lived here for a couple if years. It's cute and reminds me of Plymouth or a slightly smaller BHam. I had a nice long weekend here in the city. They had a wine bar in town, lots of great cafes and fun pigs and oversized pot or vase and big heels for me to take goody pics with, great props essentially. It's a small town feel, cosy, homey and safe. read more

Cincinnati is a beautiful town. Outside unknown, inside under appreciated. And all over the Cincinnati region are neighborhoods and hangouts which any city would love! Somehow, someway, city planners planned a split in Erie Avenue to make a square hangout. This. This excellent square has greenery, benches, a fountain and short pedestrian crossings. They also have a plaque on neighborhood history. The short pedestrian crossings are honored by vehicles and the signaled crossings are at Edwards and Michigan. A little East or West crossing Erie is treacherous. A close relative perished by car before her time crossing Erie as a pedestrian. Personal. In fair weather, the square is a fine spot to socialize and consume food x drink from nearby businesses. They have water sprinklers in Summer for the vegetation you might desire to avoid. Hyde Park Square is a civilized, even European, road, square, neighborhood, design intersection - for people on foot. read more

One of Cincinnati' s classic destinations, Hyde Park Square. The Flying Pig Marathon runs through the square the first Sunday in May. The Hyde Park Blast race and block party in end of June/early July. The Hyde Park Farmers Market is a treat on Sunday mornings during the summer months and always a crowd at Graeter's. Can be a challenge to find a parking spot in one of the spots on or around the square. My favorite event at the square is the art festival the first Sunday in October, this year had the best group of artists to date. read more

Hyde Park square seems to get better and better with time. At first it felt too yuppy-ish for me (even though this is my neighborhood), but now that new businesses are opening up, it feels more modern and welcoming. This square is particularly pretty and a nice stop for tourists. If I were a tourist, this is what I would do... - If it were dinner time, I would make sure to have a burger and a beer at Arthur's, then ice cream for dessert at Graeter's (take your ice cream outside and eat it in the park in the center of the square if the weather is nice). If ice cream isn't your thing, head to Macaron Bar and treat yo self. - If you're down to drink, I would take a stroll over to Unwind Wine Bar or Cork & Cap for a glass of wine on their beautiful patios. - If you're feeling especially bougie, you could grab dinner and a fancy cocktail at E+O Kitchen. - If it's early morning, I would get in line for breakfast at The Echo (don't worry, it's fast, and the diner food is worth the wait), then have a fancy cup of coffee at M5 Espresso or a juice at The Weekly Juicery. If you can, try to make it to the HP Farmer's Market, which happens every Sunday morning in the summer and early fall. This is one of my favorite farmer's markets in town. If you like running, the run from Hyde Park Square to Ault Park and back along Observatory is a really nice 3.5-4 miles (beware, there's a huge hill up to the park). Shopping in Hyde Park square is ok...There's a cute antique jewelry store that sells cheap costume jewelry, there's Patty's Old Fashioned Popcorn for unique candy and delicious popcorn (get the white cheese and caramel mix, my favorite!), a bunch of unique and kind of expensive clothing stores and art galleries, and there's a Lululemon (because of course there is). Overall, Hyde Park gets a bad rap, but I think there's a lot to do in the square if you look around. read more

Once you get past the fact that everyone around you has a giant golden retriever and Michelle Obama arms, you start to fall in love with this place. Hyde Park Square has everything you could need; coffee shops, wine, boutiques, all anchored by a beautiful little park. I have to admit, living in OTR I am a bit jealous of all the greenery and landscaping. They really do a great job of keeping it looking pretty all four seasons. What I love most though, is how almost every restaurant has a patio overlooking the square. Great for people watching, and enjoying a beautiful day. My only complaint if that it is almost impossible to park here and everything surrounding it is metered parking. Other than that, watch out for crazy moms running with strollers and you will be fine ;) read more

In search of a day defined by great shopping, fine dining, and relaxing strolling? Look no further than Hyde Park Square. This neighborhood district is situated along Erie Ave in Cincinnati. The street is lined with businesses (shopping, dining, and real estate, along with salons and art galleries) that inhabit beautiful examples of classical architecture. The middle of the square is a little green park, situated around a fountain that was donated to the people of Hyde Park in 1900. On warm days you'll find families eating their Greater's ice cream in the park (a quaint Greater's store sits in the middle of the square), on warm weekend nights you'll often find live bands and dancing. You'll always find trendy couples canoodling in the romantic atmosphere. Best bets for dining are Teller's or Red for upscale culinary pleasures, Indigo or Arthur's for a more casual, friendly, environment. Apparel shopping is great at Knicker's, Alligator Purse, and Karisma. Or, pick up knick-knacks at Originalities or Hyde Bark. If you're in the art market, stop by one of the square's many galleries...or just stop to browse. Parking in the square can be a problem but valet on Wednesday-Saturday nights for $5 makes it a little easier. Or you can drive around for ages and duke it out for one of the few on-street parking spots...either way. In the warm season, a farmers market visits the square on Sundays from 10am-2pm. Check it out for fresh local (sometimes organic) produce and other home-made wares. read more

Hyde Park Square is one of Cincinnati's cutest shopping and dining districts. Nestled around a small park with a fountain, the square has a lot to offer the Hyde Park community and beyond. The shopping is really overpriced and fancy in my opinion. I don't think I would ever actually buy something here unless it was on super mega sale. However, window shopping is a fun activity instead. Some of my favorite stores to look at are Knickers of Hyde Park, Poeme, and Head over Heels. The square also has some very good eateries. I enjoy going to the Echo for a classic diner brunch. Tellers of Hyde Park is fancy so dress up before you go! The cutest Graeter's in the city is also located on the square. On a nice day it's really fun to take your ice cream and eat in the park by the Kilgour Fountain in the center. Be careful crossing the street to get to the park, the cars drive by there really quickly! I've never been to the farmer's market that is located in the US Bank parking lot, but I can't wait to find out what sorts of fresh goodies they have. It's one of the most well known farmers markets in the city. read more

Sorry to be the party pooper here but... Hyde Park Square is neither a square nor is it in any way, shape, or form interesting. I came here from out of town (staying in a downtown hotel) expecting to see a bustling, pedestrian market square full of shops, outdoor cafes, restaurants, etc. There are how many cafes/restaurants here? 2 or 3? maybe 4 if you include Arthur's up the street? Its a fine little patch of grass with a couple of shops around, but it is certainly not worth travelling out of the downtown area to see. Why does this place get ANY hype at all. read more

This little urban park is a great place to chill after a nice dinner on a cool summer evening or even a place to eat some Graeter's (which is directly across from it). Either way, the park is a charming example of a place to sit, walk and relax....We need more of these kind of parks in the city. It's too bad that when Mt. Lookout Square was recently redeveloped the city didn't model it on Hyde Park Square......instead they kept it as a parking lot. read more

I like hanging out on the square. It's great to grab a burger at Arthur's, then a cup of coffee at Awakenings, then an ice cream at Graeter's, and enjoy it at the fountain, watching all the kids running around in the grass trying to hit each other with pine cones. It's beautiful in just about every season, with trees blossoming in spring, flowers blooming in summer, leaves changing in autumn, and holiday lights in winter. If you're lucky enough to live within walking distance like I am, you can stroll down and avoid the parking situation. If not, this may be a frustration. However, if you come planning to park a few blocks away, there's usually plenty of spots available to park on the street. Two places you have to visit: Miller Gallery and Arthur's. read more

This square is fitting for slightly snooty Hyde Park. It has a British-style pub, olive oil shop, bakery, wine store, Graeter's, a fancy Argentinian restaurant, a bank, a center fountain area, and a few boutiques. It's pleasant enough and generally populated by a slightly older, wealthier crowd. I don't mind walking around the area since it's usually fairly hopping. read more

Good shops, I come through every few weeks. Love the galleries. This is a very aristocratic and high-end part of the city, so rarely any hippies or guitar playing on the square. Parking on a weekday is not bad at all. Never visited on a weekend, but even a Friday at 5PM, I found a spot right in the square, not a side street. I do recommend this area for shopping and eating, and even personal errands, as there is a convenient post office, bank. No coffee shop, which would do killer business with the crowd that frequents Hyde Park square!! One thing: If you are coming from a big city, be warned, no fast walkers here. read more

Hyde Park Square reminds me of the time I spent in Boston, strolling along the promenade of shops on Newburry Street. It also reminds me of Chicago, as Michigan Avenue bisects the Square. Whatever the memory, it is our little slice of haute couture in Cincinnati. My favorite stores are Knickers, which sells beautiful lingerie, and Gourmet Food & Wine, which is like Findlay Market in one shop. Dozens of other boutiques line the Square selling fashions, vintage decor, art and more. The Square also hosts many restaurants, such as Arthur's, Indigo, Pocco a Poco, Teller's, Echo, and more. Many of these places I have heard of but not tried thinking they were far away. Now, seeing as they are all just off of Edwards Road, plus all grouped together on the Square, I look forward to trying out all of them. On the corner of Hyde Park Square is the fire department. On slow nights, you can see the firemen sitting outside enjoying the fresh air. They're some of the nicest people I've met, always taking the time to greet you as you pass. Sometimes they even offer to give you a tour of the fire truck! Hyde Park Square is a lovely place to spend an evening or take a weekend stroll. There's plenty to do, eat, and shop! read more

Located in one of Cincinnati's most affluent neighborhoods, Hyde Park Square caters to the city's upper-middle and upper classes. The square is surrounded by restaurants, various retails stores, hair salons, art galleries, banks, real estate offices, doctor's and lawyer's offices, and even a fire house. In the center of the square is a greenspace with a small babbling fountain. I must admit that some of the galleries feature "artwork" that isn't particularly to my taste. Some of the restaurants are hit-and-miss. And all of the stores are overpriced. But the stores, the galleries, and the restaurants are not what solely defines Hyde Park Square. Every Sunday from May until October there is an open air Farmer's Market where fresh produce is available. There are numerous events that take such as a Sidewalk Sale, various musical performances, and holiday celebrations. Then there's the annual Hyde Park Art Show, where over a hundred local artists are featured showing off their wares. It's not a terribly large square. Which is where the biggest pain comes into play. It is almost impossible to find a place to park. If you're lucky, you can track down a spot on one of the side streets, which results in a bit of a walk. And if you do get a spot close to the center of the square, the meter is only good for an hour, so you really don't have that much time to get settled and enjoy yourself before you're rushing back to your car to drop more coins into the meter. And traffic can be pretty atrocious. Indeed, you are often forced to take your life into your own hands just attempting to cross the street. But all-in-all it's a decent place. The square is a great place to hang out, grab a coffee, eat at a casual restaurant like Arthur's or a higher end place like Alfio's. Greater's ice cream is also a favorite among locals. Sunday's May through October, there is a terrific farmers market with live music and many booths offering everything from honeys and jams to fresh produce and the best fresh mozzarella cheese I have ever had. In June, the Hyde park blast is a must do. Bicycle races throughout the day with live music and a big party at the end of the day. The art festival the first weekend in October is also a terrific event showcasing art from many mediums and styles. Live the square!! read more

Alot of people have reviewed this as a business district but I am going to simply review it for the small patch of greenspace on Erie. There are a few other squares in Cincinnati, Mt. Lookout Square and Fountain Square for example, but neither of those places have grass, which is what I think really makes a really great square. The fountain is really beautiful, especially when lit up for Christmas, and with trees on the edges, it almost feels like an island in the middle of a busy business district. One of my favorite, and judging by my fellow citizens who often are often in the square, is to grab a cup of ice cream from Graeter's and just sit on a bench and enjoy the scenery. It is also a pretty great place for people watching because there is no shortage of people moving through or hanging out in the square. It is close to a lot of good restaurants, so after you stuff yourself at Arthur's, Teller's or Indigo, you can go have a seat in the square and hang out for a bit. There are some water fountains here for drinking but I wouldn't recommend using them if you are squeamish, a lot of people let their dogs drink from them. read more

This is a very nice spot to see and be seen on nice days with great weather. We ate ice cream while sitting on the bench watching all of the people and pets walk by. All of the shops are so close that you can find alot in a city block. Also there is a nice variety of things and if you cant find what you are looking for then just turn the corner. This place is such a paradise; so peaceful and so beautiful. It's the type of place someone would find a wallet and track down the owner. The cars always stop at the crosswalks and the locals look you in the eye and ask "how are ya?" If you come to Hyde Park and are not thoroughly impressed, you might consider counseling. read more

the park itself is a great spot to sit in and listen to the fountain, eat your ice cream, and watch the world go by, the businesses around here are starting to be more balanced to give you a better night life, but it has the right blend of trendy, and casual, One of my top 3 squares to hang out at. Parking can kind of suck, but usually the lot behind Tellers is a good bet. great place to bring a date, or a business client, or your out of town mail order bride. read more

Loved walking around this area on a Sunday afternoon. Unfortunately, being that the Bengals were playing and it was Sunday late afternoon, so I think many of the shops were winding down, it was a little dead. But I could tell that if I'd been there at another time, maybe a Saturday, it would be bustling with people. I had the chance to get Graeters and walk down some of the side streets and WOW the houses are beautiful. Its a picturesque area for sure! I did some shopping at the vintage marketplace and really liked it - thought for the most part the prices at that shop were very reasonable. If I were ever to move to Cincinnati, and I had the money, this area would be great to live in. read more
