This is the Mushroom House in the Hyde Park neighborhood of Cincinnati. The amount of detail is really breathtaking: circular steel steps, deck rails of wood shingles, stained glass windows, tiled ceilings... of course, I had to snap some pics. How often do we come to Cin City. The original owner/builder by the name of Terry Brown has passed away in 2008. If you're passing through Cincinnati you have to stop by the Mushroom House. This is the most…read moreunique real house I have ever seen. It is a relatively young house, when it comes to house age. It was started to get built by architect Terry Brown in 1992 and completed in 2006. Terry Brown him self resided in it until his passing in 2008. This house looks like a mushroom from a certain angle, and like an owl from another. It is a fairytale house in the real world. There's so much fine detail, there's no wonder it had taken this genius man 14 years to complete this artistic masterpiece of a home. The spiral orange stair case was chained off not allowing access to the public. There was a car parked in the driveway as well as a surveillance camera. They also had a "no trespassing" sign. The land around, although very minimal is very well groomed and well kept. Something tells me there are people who currently reside here. I don't know how I would feel about living in a home that gets so much attention and that is always being photographed. The Mushroom House is a must see in Cincinnati. This park is a nice one. It's a pretty long stretch of road off of 3L highway. There is one way…read moretraffic in and out. When I'm into Pokemon go, I drive around in circles spinning poke-stops and doing gym battles. That is when I would go most often. There are nice trails to walk. For the kiddos, there are multiple playgrounds, a basketball card, baseball fields, and shelters you can rent for parties. The best part of this park though is the creek. We have fun in the creek when it's warm. My kids love catching crawdads when it's warm out. I loved it as a kid too. I still have fun, especially watching them and how happy they are. Pictures will always be great memories. The only bad thing about this park, is that they took out the dog park! The dog park was so nice. There was a section for small dogs, and a section for large dogs. My dog had fun and so did I. I loved getting to play with everyone else's dogs. It was also great that it was so close to the Kenton county animal shelter. I hope they bring it back someday.

We also saw finches, and black birds with bright orange wings. The trails are paved. There is a layer of fine sand that covers much of the trail on the side across from parking. The trail is pretty level on the parking side. There is a playground, but we did not venture over to it. There once was a dog park here. A sign indicates that the park was closed "due to reoccuring damage." The sign also states that they are looking for an alternate location for the Paw Park. Rigt now thw area is a giant field. Dogs must be on a leash at this park. Many people were there with their dogs, including us. When passing eachother, people were using good doggie etiquette. People were picking up after their dogs as well. I took away a star due to the amount of trash. There were a couple of used diapers, cups, many cigarette butts and feminine hygiene products. These were more on the parking side, and many were near the water. Across the river was much cleaner.

I have to preface my review: you have to live in The COV to enjoy this, or have a friend who has a…read moreguest pass. This has become a favorite for our young children in our home-city of COV. The first couple years we lived here, we had no idea this existed - it's tucked in the heart of the Bill Cappel Youth Sports Complex. (Website, here: http://www.covingtonky.gov/visitors/parks/bill-cappel-youth-sports-complex) The "zero depth" is a great feature for kids who haven't learned to swim yet, and this place is usually filled with kids. There are limited "tanning chairs" available for adults...seems like adding a few more of those would be nice. Make sure you get your pass before you come! You can get them on opening week (Memorial Day) and then afterwards at the city building. In past years, there has been some shut downs of the park due to piping and breakage...you'll notice that the water will turn off every 20 minutes for about 5 seconds...I think this is an effort to release pressure from the pipes and reduce breaking. Lots of fun, we'll be at the spray park a lot this summer!
