This nail salon used to be tiny and not particularly great. Last year, they shut down for a few months and re-opened and since then my experiences there have been pretty good. The salon is now large so you'll rarely have a problem walking in for service unless it's a weekend (in which case they are packed), as I did today. My manicure ran me $18 but was extremely de-stressing and calming and the finished product (done up in a new OPI shade: Calendar Girl) looked neat and clean. I like that the salon always has the latest OPI shades before most of the other salons in the area get them. My technician seemed friendly but didn't speak much, which was fine with me. As mentioned previously, on weekends you will definitely have to wait for a little while for walk-in service. I've been to this salon and it was fine-nothing life changing. However, today my trip was really bad. For background, I've been getting my nails done for about 3 years at other salons, plus I got them done for about a year in high school. Anyways, today I went to get acrylics off and get shellac. The nail tech's method of acrylic removal hurt SO BAD. Without soaking or filing them down at all, she took a fake nail tip and started shoving it under the acrylics until they loosened up enough for her to rip them off. I kept pulling my hands back and making pained faces. It hurt enough to make me nauseous. I've never had nails removed without a soak and being filed off. It left my nails in weird shapes since they were ripped off unevenly. Best lash extensions I have gotten in Cincinnati in the 14 months I have been getting extensions. They KNOW what they are doing here!! They were able to remove my old painful lashes (put on elsewhere) and put new ones on that look natural, beautiful and don't hurt in place!! Very attentive and friendly. This place will do what is right and isn't like other lash places that merely care about getting clients, and not retaining them. Do not come here for gel nails - If you're considering Hyde Park Nails, I recommend making a slightly longer drive (about a mile) to Ambiance instead. I came on a Sunday afternoon to get gel nails on my hands & feet since Ambiance was packed. The mani+pedi together is $45, plus $20 for each set of gel polish (i've never heard this pricing tier before, but went with it hoping that they knew what they were doing). while they did have a decent OPI gel collection, the basics of a mani/pedi were lacking. I sincerely feel like I could have done a better job shaping/filing my own nails than they had done. When I asked why the polish looked uneven at the end, he told me he didn't see it, and that I was just looking at it from an odd angle. The terrible job cost me $100 - definitely will not be coming back. The number of flies in the place also did not help - at one point, the technician slapped my foot while trying to kill a fly on it... read more

My friend and I get our nails done every two weeks together and we've been trying to find a new "home". We both got a pedicure and shellac on our nails. They gave my friend the wrong color and I don't know what went wrong with her shellac but it literally washed off that night. Either the wrong product was used or the light was broken or something. My nails were all different shapes and lengths and they were drilled so thin that they were sore. The top coat was lumpy and not smooth and they started chipping within two days and after one week I have soaked them off at home because the chipping was so bad. My technician forgot the top coat on my pedicure and then remembered after I paid and was walking out so I had to sit for an additional five minutes for that to dry when it should've already been finished. The shop is cluttered and unorganized and does not give the feel of a professional business. We wanted to like it but will definitely not be going back. read more

Got my nails done shellac on a Friday. By the time Sunday rolled around they had changed colors. Very odd. I went back in on a Wednesday because of a chip and the staff was amazing and completely redid my nails! For free! They also called the polish manufacturer to realize the issue was with the polish and made sure to use a different brand on my nails. MyLinh was boxing up the polish to be replaced by the manufacturer when I left. Amazing experience all around! People just don't run salons like this anymore. read more

This place is a gem! I don't live on that side of town but I had a meeting in the area and wanted to get a shellac mani before. I found this place because of the positive reviews on Yelp, and I wasn't disappointed!! I was so pleased, in fact, that I plan on driving across town for regular manicures! Let me start by saying this isn't a salon I would have found on my own or dropped into if I had just driven past it. It would be easy to miss because it's an unassuming little place. The decor is modest--not like some of the fancier, more modern salons, but it's clean and the service is what sets this place apart! They welcomed me immediately, even though I didn't have an appointment and it was about an hour before closing time. Two of the techs worked together to make sure I had top notch service--one even stayed late to make sure my manicure was done properly, even though she had somewhere to be--and she was cheerful about it! The women working there had wonderful personalities. They were friendly and funny and excited about their work. I felt very comfortable there even though it was my first time. They even gave me tips for taking care of and maintaining my manicure, which I've never gotten from another salon. I'll admit that when I pulled up to this place, I thought really? this place? Not what I expected. Very small. Website gave impression it was type of salon where appointments were appreciated vs. walk ins. I made appointments for 3 girls to get manicures together and once we arrived, there was no attempt made to sit us near each other. When I would look over my shoulder to talk to my friend, the guy doing my nails would yell at me not to move. While my nails were being done, a woman (who was on first name basis with my technician, implying to me that she was a longstanding customer) came in to tell my technician that her polish from the last manicure wasn't lasting. The technician said it wasn't his fault, he used OPI and if she didn't like it she could bring in her own nail polish. He was very rude and snappy with her, even cutting her off as she spoke. She told him she had come in willing to pay to have her nails redone, but wanted him to know the situation, but he didn't respond. It was extremely unprofessional and made me very uncomfortable. Care was not taken to ensure full nail coverage with the polish, as I asked several times for the technician to correct many nails. While waiting for my nails to dry, the technician took the 'soaking bowl' he had used for my nails, dumped the water out and put it right back under the sink where he had gotten it from just 30 minutes before. This gave me the impression they don't wash their 'soaking bowls'. I certainly will not go back. read more

So my girlfriend went to Hyde Park Nails today and got a manicure and pedicure and she absolutely loved it. So much that she asked me to write a review on it. She said the service was excellent and the staff was really nice, especially the girl who did hers. I believe she said the girls name was Carly and she has a tattoo sleeve. ( in case that helps) She highly recommends the salon and suggest going there to anyone. She was able to walk right in without an appointment which is a big plus for our busy lifestyle. Walked in on a quiet Friday midday for mani/pedi before heading to the airport, had an hour and just moving here from the East Coast if a salon is not busy, another technician can do nails while pedicure is being done. I asked and technician who was free refused and said she had an appt coming. For 20 minutes (during which time manicure could have been done) I watched her leisurely clean the salon and watch TV. Had to skip the manicure. I will never go back here and I just moved across the street. I would rather drive to a more customer oriented salon. read more

This place is absolutely amazing! I was new to getting eyelash extensions for the first time but MyLinh makes you feel so comfortable and is very welcoming. She was able to get me an appointment quickly unlike other places where you may need to wait a few days or even a week! Very disappointing experience. My usual nail salon is closed for the month so I was looking for an alternative when I discovered Hyde Park Nails. Making an appointment was a breeze and I was able to book a prime 11 am spot on a Saturday. The first red flag. When I arrived for my appointment I realized that the salon only had one customer. ONE. On a Saturday. And once she left I was the only customer for another hour plus. Next, I was directed to the pedicure chair and a nail tech sat down. Unfortunately, she didn't know how to put or keep on her protective mask. Second red flag. She was a total and complete novice and had absolutely no clue what she was doing. During the pedicure itself, I had to direct her to make sure I actually got my feet taken care, because after she "finished" one foot it felt the exact same as when I walked through the door but wet. And finally, the shellac manicure. My nails are all different shapes. I only keep my nails in a soft square shape. Inexplicably, my thumbs are completely round and none of my nails match each other. Even worse, the polish looks like a small child painted my nails. I'm missing spots of top coat and the nail color doesn't extend to my cuticles. I tried to have her fix the problems, but she was too inept and only made the issues worse. All in all, it was a horrible and THREE HOURS long ordeal. A total waste of my time and money. However, I will say that both nail techs were very nice and provided good conversation. But at the end of the day, I'm not paying for conversation. I'm paying for my nails. I had not been to this salon in a while, my last couple of experiences were not so great. One of my girlfriends, who had moved out of the country, was back in town and wanted to go for mani/pedis. So I thought we could give it another chance. While everyone there is always friendly, the woman that did my nails does a horrible job. As far as I can tell, there are three employees. Tom, an older Asian man who I believe is the owner, a younger white gentleman and an Asian woman. My cuticles are sore from being over picked, there was nail polish on the skin around my toes and my fingernails are very inconsistently painted. You can see the line where the topcoat did not go to the side of my mail and the side is dull. It has been two days, and I already need to repaint my nails. If you go, be sure to have the white gentleman do your treatments. Tom does a great job, but is generally in a hurry and it is not a relaxing event. read more

Very unhappy customer....After getting my nails done here on and often for two years today I had a very bad experience. The male owner was rude,disrespect and down right horrible. He talked on his phone the entire time, I had to remind him to file more than one nail on my hands, after I told him not to cut my nails he took the drill to them anyway,I was upset and told him that I didn't like that he argued with me. He wad so rude that when I took my card out to pay he just picked it up and walked away with out even telling me the price. He polished my nails wrong due to the fact he was on the phone and wasn't listening to me. Today I was very upset when I left the shop and decided after all this time giving them my money and recommendations that I will find a new place to get my nails and eye brows and feet done. This salon is small and well kept about 8 chairs. However, I have never been discriminated against due to my race before by any nail salon. I thought racial profiling was history, but today I stand corrected. I walked in to get one broken nail fixed, there were only two ladies getting there pedicures, and two nail technicians doing these women's toes, one nail Tec. Asked what I wanted, I responded I wanted one nail Fixed, he replied "fine, sign in" as I started to sign my name and service at the desk he then said "I'm sorry, I can't do your nail because I have to do her nails" I responded "excuse me?" He replied "I cannot do your nail" I have never felt so humiliated, to be refused service due to racial discrimination. The two Caucasian women getting there pedicures, and the nail technicians just watched as I left out of the shop. I will never return to this shop and I do not recommend this shop to anyone of color, they should be grateful that I am not going to pursue this issue and sue. read more
