The car was under warranty and instead of fixing the issue, by rebuilding the transmission, they wanted to put in a used transmission, which likely had the same issue (a common problem on the Ford Fiesta st). All they had to do was let the insurance company know they didn't have the skills to properly rebuild the transmission and it could have gone to a ford dealership for proper repairs. Yet, they were so concerned about making a buck instead of helping a customer that they refused to do that. Their lead "mechanic" was a complete buffoon when I tried telling him that a used transmission runs the risk of the same issue as the current one. I'd rather throw my car and money into a burn pit (more effective anyways) than deal with these incompetent individuals.
Update: Funny enough, the owner says it was just turbo noise when they requested an extra hour to diagnose because their own mechanic heard The noise coming from the transmission (like anyone with a brain could). These cars are known to have input shaft bearing failures and it was a prominent noise coming from the transmission. His comment further shows his own ineptitude and how helpful his shop really is. I knew he was inept, but even I'm blown away by this level of ignorance.
Update #2: The car was not taken to "3 other shops" like he stated. It was, however, taken to a local Ford dealership (Yankee Ford) the Saturday before I went down to Boston for work. There, an ACTUAL TECHNICIAN, quickly verified the noise concern and stated it sounded like the input shaft bearing on the transmission. Not a standard noise that you hear upon turbo spool (The fact that he is unable to differentiate the two is frightening). The ACTUAL TECHNICIAN stated it is a common problem on the Fiesta ST. Not just "turbo noise" like bozo stated below.
Unfortunately, Silver-Rock insurance won't let real technicians work on a vehicle without their in-networks stating they are unable too, as they're out of network and would cost them more money to do so. I needed these jokers to simply collect their hour long diagnosis fee and state to Silver-Rock it was above their level of competency. After 1 hour, and a quick drive, they realized it was coming from the transmission (obviously) and requested more diagnostic time through Silver-Rock insurance. Since I wasn't going to allow a half a$$ed "fix" (replaced with a used transmission) I decided to just return the car to Carvana.
Don't let this owner with a 3rd grade vocabulary deceive you or anyone you know. I implore you to seek further repairs at a better shop than this. read more
