I do not often write negative reviews but I'm making an exception in this case. My family and I have been living in Hyde Park for 20 years. When we first moved here I tried Hyde Park Spring & Brake a couple times. Both times the owner was short and unfreindly to me so I didnt go back. I hadn't been back to them in about ten years but was in a hurry to get a tire of mine patched. When I drove into their lot someone was pulling out so I pulled to the right out of his way. The owner starts waving at me to move and yelling at me. I point to the person pulling out and when they've passed I park out of the way so I can see if they'll fix my tire. The owner rudely asks me what I want and I tell him. He rudely says "we're too busy today. Come back another day." Never going back there again. In Hyde Park I usually go to C & C or Bertos now that Juniors is closed. read more

I went here because deadham tire in west roxbury recommended them they put in used engine when i went to pick it up they recused to tell me how many miles on thw rebuilt used engine three me hanics told me it had crack in the back of engine lots of oul in my driveway ! i sent it back to fix it when i picked it up they wanted three hundred for another sensor i told the owner i just replaced it he restated to replace sensor ( lets see how studid this customer is ) i went by toyota dealer and they said the check engine light would go away which it did took it back to ahop were sensor was done and they showed me i didnt need it i fanally went to small claims lost judge like man showed up he did not believe my mechanics total eighty years one shop did not put a date on letter ! cant make this up stay away stay away read more

Customer Beware! I would just like to reiterate what many customers have already stated on this site. The owner, Tommy, and his employees are, plain and simple, downright rude people with awful customer service. I used their shop initially for some basic work (inspection, oil changes, etc.) and found them easy to use for these jobs. However, when I sought advice or prices for more complex work, they were short and unwelcoming with their responses. As a repeat customer, they even hung up on me if they did not like the question (e.g., how much would it cost if I bring in this part to install). I understand that shops make a buck on parts overhead, but is it necessary to hang up on the customer if you don't like the question? Likewise, they have been rude and condescending when I inquired if and why certain repairs were necessary. I now wonder if some work they did was necessary at all. That said, I initially gave them the benefit of the doubt because my neighbor recommended them, but after multiple instances of this type of behavior, I would not recommend them to anyone. If you're looking for a quality mechanic who cares and is willing to spend a minute explaining things, check out Joe at Dedham Service Center. Otherwise, avoid this shop like the plague - Tommy and his crew are the worst. read more

I have never written a review before, however, I felt compelled. this shop was a stand up decent place, I've lived in the area for about 4 yrs and I went to this shop because it was so close to my house, well up until today 2/6/2024 I thought they were honest and upright, wrong!! I took my car in for an oil change and got a new sticker instead, mind you Tommy is the one who had changed my sticker in Oct, but I was told you ask for a sticker and I gave you what you asked for (ok) maybe I misspoke, however I did pay and request and oil change and car detailing, (next day) dropped my car off, was called to say my car was ready, well I gave him the money in cash and low and behold I look at my statement there's a $150 dollar charge for HPS&B, called tommy he told me he never charged my card, which was a blatant lie, I'm all set with this shop, check your receipt when dealing with this shop, I now have to go to the proper channels to get my money back that was stolen from me, he never even tried to resolve the issue. read more

Recently got work done at Hyde park spring and brake after an accident, while I was waiting to hear from my insurance adjuster. My insurance was finally able to locate the driver and after I reached out to this establishment to get an itemized receipt to get a refund from the insurance and I have been met with much hostility. I have been hung up on multiple occasions and even spoken to like I'm a complete moron who has no clue where I got service done. They are disorganized and probably have no clue where my receipt is. If I never got work done, why does my debit card receipt have their name on it? Very disappointing to be spoken to like an idiot and hung up on when I've been nothing but patient and kind. It's been over a month now and they're just rude and mean. I'm not sure if it's because I'm a woman, but I do not appreciate it and will be taking the necessary steps to be accommodated properly. Wow! I had my 2016 Hyundai Santa Fe towed in for a check engine light After two other shops claimed to have fixed it, I continued to have car problems So my sister suggested that I call Tom. My car died on the highway and I had it towed it to Hyde Park Spring and Brake. Tom looked at the car and within a very short period of time told me that I needed a new motor. Distraught, I said OK and that I would call him back. He called me shortly there after to let me know that he believes it would be covered under a recent change in a manufacturer's warranty. He could've easily charged me $5000 or more and did the job himself. Thank you so much for being honest! read more

NO LOVE FOR RETURNING CUSTOMERS Now I see what the other poster was talking about with rudeness. After posting a 5 star review about 8 months ago I have to say I was thoroughly disappointed with the professionalism I received today. Now please know, I am not above being told no, but there is a way to treat previous customers. Had a totally different experience today with the owner. His lack of professionalism, dismissive attitude, and over all rudeness has made sure I will never go back there or never refer another person there again! Asked if they would be willing to work with me with the deductible - something they've done before and he acted like I asked for his first born! Aside: I had already decided I would have them do the work, but if I could save a couple of bucks, that would be great! I went to this establishment today to drop off a friend. She had to get her car towed cause this repair shop couldn't fix it. Anyway, we arrange a tow. I was in the process of walking towards the car, so i can clean the snow off, meanwhile the tow truck driver was moving his truck in position to hitch the car. Tom the owner of garage was moving the car that was tandem to the car we were towing. Tom starts beeping at me, he says "you " guys" think you can park anywhere you want"? I said whats your problem? Give me a second i just want to brush the snow off the car. Then he stated that i was there yesterday taken up three parking spaces, he wasnt even there yesterday! Yes i was there putting new antique plates on the car and park my car behind the car being towed. That took 5 min! Back to the today.. He obviously knew what i was doing I was helping him to get a car out off his lot. But instead of waiting for one second i moved my car out of lot and walked back to brush the snow off the car. Bottom line he is very rude and has no idea how to deal with the public. Tom need to brush up on his manners dealing with public and get anger management lessons. Lol read more

HP Spring and Brake has been good to my entire family for about 20 years now. Tom, the owner, is extremely trustworthy, always reliable, and extremely accommodating. He has fixed my car when I was broke and told me to pay him when I can on multiple occasions, offered my parents loaner cars while theirs were being worked on, and always gives me the best deal possible. For a while I drove a junker and Tom kept her on the road for years. Most importantly, I have literally never had an issue when anything that Tom has fixed. New to this part of the city. So I asked a friend who I should use. They recommended this business. Tom the owner was excellent. I have used him twice and the bill was very reasonable. He called me to let me know what was going on both times and how much the bill would be before the work was done. Both times he offered to drive me to/from if I needed a ride. These guys are amazingly unprofessional. I ordered brakes from my car's manufacturer (directly from their site) and these guys won't install them. I couldn't even get a quote for labor. Clearly the manufacturer (Infiniti) has a site for the sake of ordering parts because they don't expect shops or anyone for that matter to install them. "You don't bring steak to a restaurant, do you?" Nor do you put steak sauce on a pork chop, morons. It's amazing these guys are still in business or getting any business with their attitude. Sir, I'd like to bring you business, but clearly you don't need it. Or anyone else's for that matter. Maybe my money just isn't good enough. Maybe their regular con job business model brings in enough revenue. Either way, informed consumer beware! I've been going to Hyde Park Spring and Brake for over Twenty Years. Not once have I ever felt that I was ripped off. Tom, the owner, is the best.
