He was great to talk to and explained the process to me and why it wouldn't be all that easy to do based on the type of car I have. Very friendly, informative and helpful. Since then I have started bringing my car to them every time it needs so much as an oil change. They are near my work, so I can drop it off in the morning and pick it up at the end of the day. They are always more than fair on the pricing, and even put in parts that I had purchased previously for my brakes, when I thought my husband was going to fix them. Great advise about the little things I can do to prevent future problems as well. I trust these guys explicitly. With the high cost of auto repair it is nice to know there is a company out there that is not just looking to make buck or get you to come back for more repairs. They actually try to save me money.

Haven't been using other services beyond that once-upon-a-time complimentary car wash, which might have been discontinued along with detailing that they report as of 2025 is a thing of the past. But in general, great experiences here, and they seem honest -- they're the one busting the myth of "cash only for state inspection", which many places have claimed to be the case (it's not!). Waiting area is nice, quiet, and clean, equipped with complimentary coffee and a vending machine for snacks. When my current mechanic retires, I might just be coming here more often. After relocating to New England, I sought a trustworthy auto repair shop and discovered Brakeman's…read moreAuto Repair in Jamaica Plain, MA. Their numerous 5-star Yelp reviews highlighting exceptional service, quality, and professionalism caught my attention. Upon visiting their website, I was impressed by their rich family history in mechanics, which prompted me to schedule an appointment. Surprisingly, securing a slot was easy despite their stellar reputation. Using the Waze app for navigation, I encountered minor inaccuracies; however, locating the shop became straightforward once I realized it's situated across from the gas station on the corner, housed in a distinctive green building. The owner, Ray, was both kind and courteous. He thoroughly examined my brakes and rotors, informed me that he would order the necessary parts, and mentioned there might be a wait. He suggested I consider taking an Uber, but I opted to spend time at a nearby library. Unfortunately, the library was a small branch that didn't open until noon that day, so I utilized the adjacent Curtis Hall Community Center to catch up on some work. Throughout the service, I received timely updates from the shop. The brake and rotor repairs were completed efficiently, and Ray's dedication to customer satisfaction was evident. He checked in later that day to ensure my car was performing well post-service and followed up the next day to confirm my continued satisfaction. This level of personalized service reminded me of the local mechanics back in the South. The most important thing besides the service, and the quality, the VALUE!!! I saved 50% of what I was quoted by the dealership just for brakes!! It goes to show that there are still businesses like Brakeman's Auto Repair that aren't trying to get over on people that provide GENUINE SERVICE in a timely manner. In summary, Brakeman's Auto Repair offers a blend of professional expertise and genuine customer care. For anyone in the New England area seeking reliable auto service, I wholeheartedly recommend them.

I gave Will a call on Friday afternoon and was able to get my car in to him right after I got off work for him to take a look and later that evening he gave me his assessment and recommendations. He only suggested what needed to be changed and was transparent about what work I'd need to do if I didn't change certain parts depending on if I were going to keep the car for long term vs short term. I opted to go for a full change in pads/rotors anyways and he was able to fit me in and get my car back in my hands within 24 hours. I believe he works on a lot of fleet vehicles so I would suggest calling ahead to see his availability as I may have just been lucky it wasn't as busy at the time. It has been about a month since my car was serviced and the brakes have been working much better than the last time they were changed and also no whining noted. Will was friendly, knowledgeable, and he was patient in answering any questions to make sure I felt comfortable with what we'd discussed. I'd highly recommend checking out Will's shop if you're in need of getting work done on your car.
