Excellent hotel in the red river arts district area of Austin. While it was not my specific purpose, I'd imagine if you were booking in to try and catch lots of live music nearby, this would be a perfect base camp for you. Super easy to access, the block it is on (main entrance) has pretty much no traffic, though the block below is quite busy at night. The staff at reception were very helpful and friendly on all interactions, granting me a later checkout and holding my bags since I had a light flight out at the end of my stay. My room was excellent. Very spacious. Excellent little kitchenette, stocked with the basics. While I didn't cook anything, I did reheat some food in the microwave and use the plates and flatware provided, as well as some drinkware. All was clean ready for use. The bar area doubles as your workspace, and thankfully, even though it was a high-chair, it was very comfortable to work in. The beds were super comfy. I slept like a rock. I was 7 floors up and not disturbed by any noise from nearby venues and clubs as others complained of in their reviews. I would stay here again. read more

I had the opportunity to stay at (and host an event at) this hotel in downtown Austin in early February, and it ended up being such a great experience all around. From the moment you walk in, the lobby makes a great first impression. It's stylish, welcoming, and has that polished feel you expect from a good downtown hotel. The rooms were also really nice -- clean, spacious, and comfortable, which made it a great place to unwind after long days of event activities. What truly stood out though was the staff. They were so incredibly friendly, helpful, and accommodating throughout the entire experience. Since we were hosting an event at the hotel, we had a few special requests for our attendees, and the team went above and beyond to help make everything smooth. One detail that really impressed me was that the staff helped hand out check-in gifts to our guests when they arrived, which made the experience feel extra thoughtful and organized. Small touches like that make a huge difference when you're coordinating an event. Parking is paid valet, which is pretty typical for downtown Austin, and it was easy and convenient to use. Overall, between the beautiful property, comfortable rooms, and outstanding service, this was a fantastic experience. Would I come back? 100%. TL;DR: Good location if you're going to enjoy 6th Street nightlife, and impressive free breakfast. Much less ideal if you want to go to sleep early or have dust allergies. The noise levels were unbelievable on two weekend nights. A nearby bar played music loud enough to rattle our walls, audible even over max-level white noise playing in our room. The air ducts were coated in dust, as shown in the attached picture, and we felt significant allergies during our stay. Also don't stay here if you're hoping to swim. We stayed at Hyatt House to celebrate a birthday and had such a great experience. The staff was incredibly thoughtful and accommodating from start to finish. They upgraded our room as a courtesy, which was a really nice surprise, and had wine set out along with a birthday card for him when we arrived. Everyone we interacted with was awesome, and the hotel itself was clean and comfortable throughout our stay. I especially want to thank Sergio and Damian for being so helpful and kind. One thing that really stood out was that I had originally requested a specific bottle of wine and was told over the phone it wasn't sold by the bottle. I ended up choosing a different option, but when we arrived the bottle I wanted originally was there! We stayed here for ACL weekend and loved that their lobby was decorated for the festival and even offered free Liquid IV packets! Got in at around 9:30pm and thankfully check in went smoothly since we checked in online. The hotel was walking distance to Sixth Street (about 5-10min walk) and walking distance to lots of restaurants. I love the room layouts of Hyatt Houses because of how much space you get. The kitchen has a stove, microwave, mini fridge, and equipped with plates, utensils, and other kitchen items. It has an island that can seat about 4 people. The TV can swivel 360 to face the kitchen, the couch, or the bed. The bed was pretty comfortable though the pillows could use a little more fluff. I appreciated that there were 2 plugs on both lamps on either side of the bed though they were pretty loose and kept dislodging. I appreciated the full body mirror behind the closet door. The water pressure of the shower was nice and strong. The hotel had complimentary breakfast available but we unfortunately didn't wake up in time for it. They had an outdoor patio area with a fire pit and a small pool. Towards the other side of the hotel, there seemed to be a game area with a pool table. The gym had dumbbells, a handful of cardio machines including a Peloton bike. There seemed to be valet parking that was around $40ish a night? Overall, I was satisfied with my stay here and would consider staying here whenever we visit Austin again because of its convenient location, decent pricing, and comfortable rooms. read more

It's in a fairly good location, you can walk to a lot of places. Very close to the Sixth Street district (the bad side someone told me). Cheers Up Charlie's, a friendly gay bar, is on the same block. The rooms were fine, nothing amazing. They make up the room every 2 days. The free breakfast is ok. We went to get a light something to eat before going to the gym. The gym is your typical small hotel gym but I was so happy to see a Peloton there! Just make sure it's plugged in - there are 2 outlets for the TV, the Peloton, and another stationary bike. It took me awhile to figure out why the Peloton wouldn't work. The pool is just tiny. Like one family was hanging out there one day and it was full. I would try another hotel on the other side of town if I came back but we had a good experience there for the most part. Oh! Parking is $45 per night, which is ridiculous in this part of town. I was a prepaid guest and they called the police on me when the maids went in my room and thought they saw drug paraphernalia.

The hotel is clean and the service was efficient and friendly. Rooms are comfortable. The issue was a music venue playing death metal Saturday night until 1 am. We were in the 9th floor and it sounded like it was next door. We used the valete service offered at the hotel $45 a night and we were happy with it. Breakfast was very nice. The significant drawback was the Techno Dance Club right behind the hotel. From 8:50 pm - 2:00 am on both Friday and Saturday, the music was so loud, even on the 7th floor, we could have had our own dance party. Even earplugs didn't cancel the noise; it was that loud. We had walked all day both days, so surprisingly, we fell asleep in spite of the noise. We only woke when the noise stopped! We really wanted to give this location 5 stars, but my wife and I had one small issue with our room #600 after a maid cleaned our room on day 2 of our stay. There was some kind of sour smell emanating from the sofa area by the window. We contacted the desk immediately. They said they would look into it but no one came by to check on our issue, so I found a floor maid making up another room and she came to see. From her face expression even she smelled something odd. So two maid women sprayed our room with some cleaning agents and the issue supsided briefly then came back. We were leaving the next day anyway, thankfully the bed area was the only place to escape the smell. *First off we were VERY IMPRESSED both with the location (2 blocks from the State Capitol and Museums), and room amenities. As soon as we walked in the first thing you see is a comfortable bed and sofa by the window. To which my wife adopted immediately upon arrival to relax by the window even take a nap. The room comes with your own adjustable AC thermostat and on the same floor across from room #616 is where you'll find an ice machine maker which can also be found on floors 2, 4, and 8. There was a very large Whirlpool Microwave oven and Refrigerator tucked away in the cabinet below. The bathroom had a large sink and shower which had neat towels and included shampoo, conditioner and body wash pump containers adhered to the wall in the shower. The water pressure was more than ample while the hot water; responsive. Under the sink a hair dryer. Next up is closet space, nearly a walk in closet with hangers an ironing board and iron.. If a swimming pool is your thing on a HOT DAY here in downtown Texas the Hyatt House has one but nearly the size of a Toyota Corolla Car...LOL The hotel across the street can hold 6 cars in their pool called the Holiday Inn Express. Renting a car or bringing your own the Hyatt House charges $45 a day to park your vehicle inside (WHAT A RIP). As a side note outside of the city limits hotels DONT CHARGE to park your vehicle in their parking lot, but do your research. Parking Outside in the street may be subject to limited time stays and ticketing. Breakfast downstairs in the lobby every morning a real pleasure. I am so fortunate to still be in touch with friends from my long-ago college days in NYC. Three of us decided to have a "girls getaway" and selected Austin Texas as the city in which we would meet as we all live far from one another and although we keep in touch we don't see each other all that often. My friend Laura researched hotels in downtown Austin and selected this hotel. This turned out to be a perfect choice for us. Originally Laura had hoped that the 3 of us (!) would share a room "just like college days". As much as I love these gals, I definitely wanted my own room which I was able to get right across from the one Laura and our other friend shared. Laura and Robin's room had two queen beds and an adjacent sitting area with an L-shaped (sleep-sofa) and a coffee table. I had a similar room but with a king bed instead of the two queens. Both rooms were roomy, very clean, and nicely decorated. Checking in was easy and at all times the people at the front desk were friendly and helpful. I was skeptical of the free breakfast they offered as I have not had great experiences with free hotel breakfasts. This one was surprisingly good and we ate breakfast here each of the mornings we stayed at the hotel. The dining area is large, well-appointed, clean and we never had difficulty getting a table. The breakfast is served buffet style and included eggs, usually scrambled, pancakes, various cereals including granola, bread, bagels, various types of yogurt, tortillas (for the eggs if you wanted to make a wrap), potatoes, ham, sausages, fruit salad, various juices, Green Mountain coffee with several options, and various teas were offered. Prior to checking in I had gotten an email asking if I wanted my room serviced "every other day" or not at all. I chose every other day. I was pleasantly surprised to find that our rooms were actually cleaned every day. There is nothing like coming back to a freshly made bed and clean towels. I know hotels are cutting down on daily service but I think that's ridiculous and I've heard the cleaning staff is not very happy about that as it cuts down on their well-deserved tips. I was happy to have daily room service. I like coming back to a made bed, a cleaned bathroom and fresh towels. I have read some of the other reviews of this hotel and honestly I am surprised by the ones complaining of unclean rooms and no room cleaning whatsoever. It does not seem like these people were talking about the same hotel! My experience was the opposite of these complaints. This hotel is right in downtown Austin. Most things we wanted to do were within walking distance or a short Uber ride away. Many restaurants are right nearby and within walking distance. The only block we steered clear of was 6th Street (3 blocks from this hotel). There are many bars and music venues on 6th street but there is a decidedly grungy vibe to it and sadly, this is where it seems a number folks experiencing homelessness congregate. I have subsequently come to understand that the issue of homelessness is now a very large one in Austin. However wherever the actual homeless encampments are were not near this hotel as we did not encounter anything but the situation on 6th Street. It is sad to have to comment on something like this but such is the state of affairs in American cities and to deny that reality is not giving a full picture of what is like to be a tourist in one of those cities. I thought this was a good place for our 5 day trip and I'd stay here again. read more

4 stars for location, value, friendly and helpful staff, and clean rooms. The rooms are huge and clean, the whole facility is too. It comes with a big dining area for their daily FREE breakfast. The staff are all very nice, polite, and goes out of their way to assist. The value is phenomenal, compared to the other Hyatt's and other 4 star hotels nearby. Best of all, this location is great! It's surrounded by restaurants, music venues, and (south) 6th St is just a 5 minute walk. This is my first time in Austin and I absolutely love their nightlife. This hotel is in the middle of all the fun! So glad we stayed here. I don't know why this place gets a bad rap for being two full blocks away from the homeless shelter. First of all, the homeless people are people also, except for they camp every night instead of staying at the Hyatt. Second, they don't litter the streets like described in the reviews. *COVID Update* There's not much to update here as masks aren't mandated anymore as of August 2021. The concierge has a plexiglass wall up, so they weren't wearing masks either. Same with the valet guys - they didn't wear masks. There was no hand sanitizer in public areas, and we weren't notified of any special "COVID cleaning" done in our room. The dude at the front desk was so nonchalant, almost rude. I never saw him smile. He was so different from the friendly valet guys that it left an impression. Everything with my experience here was great except for him. In the lobby, there are lots of seating; it's spacious. There is a large table with outlets along the center, which is great because they have free WiFi for guests. Free breakfast is served 7-10AM, even on weekends. They had stuff like apples, bananas, packaged muffins, and instant oatmeal. There's hot coffee pretty much 24/7. The room I stayed in was clean and fresh. The AC welcomed me as soon as I stepped in. It was great! I was hoping they'd have some more toiletries, like cotton-tipped swabs or make-up removers. The blinds are double layered, so it blocks the sunlight very well. The best thing about this hotel is the location. I didn't mind the homeless shelter nearby, and 6th street is within walking distance! Franklin BBQ is also less than a 10-minute drive away. Had a bunch of Hyatt points and wanted to be near downtown because we're such tourists. This was before we actually experienced 6th Street so.... The hotel is within a 5 minute walking distance to places we thought we ought to be. Convenience they said, stay near 6th they said. For that, I get it. You don't need a car. But we kinda always do. Valet parking only and maybe that's why most of the valet guys were dicks. It's all done through the Metropolis app, so you can go ticket & cash free. Bird & Lime scooters right outside the hotel so that was really cool. Customer service: hit or miss. Many grumpy bearded guys, but the female bartender was warmer and two polite guys did kindly help us here n there. The morning guy and nighttime-graveyard shift guy. The latter upgraded us to a suite when we requested a room change. Couch flex. Otherwise we'd be stuck with mediocre or dingy like the rest of our group. Carpets were universally bad. Fitness room was decent tho. Pool was rundown but we were allowed to use it past open hours as long as we were quiet. In that sense the customer service was dope. All in all not my fave location but perfect for young dumb n broke kids. read more

We arrived at Hyatt House Austin on Feb 16. When we checked into our room, it was clear is had not been thoroughly cleaned. There was hair embedded in the shampoo/conditioner bottles and on the walls of the shower. Additionally, there were crumbs left in the bathroom and the tissues in the tissue box had clearly been removed and haphazardly re-stuffed into the box. The body wash in the bathroom was also empty. It was late so we just went to sleep, but the next morning when we left for the day, we asked if they could please send cleaners to our room and refill our soap. We were out of the room for many hours and we made the hotel staff aware when left, but upon our return it was clear it had not been cleaned. Cleaners knocked on our door later that afternoon and we asked if they could please come back, but they never did. For the remainder of our stay, cleaners never came to our room at all despite our request. Overall, the stay was average, but it was frustrating that the room was left in such a mess before we even arrived. It was absolutely unsanitary and unacceptable with minimal attempts from the staff to make up for it. read more

This hotel was just okay. I would not stay here again though. First of all, their entire suite situation is very deceiving. If you get a suite, it sleeps 4 - technically. However, the pull out couch is literally falling apart with wires and springs coming out. You cannot safely sleep on the pull out couch with the mattress pulled out. You have to either curl up haphazardly on the couch (without the mattress pulled out) OR sleep on the floor. I am 5'5" and I am too tall for sleeping on the couch. I cannot imagine anyone taller than me could make it work. I had to sleep on the floor for my last night there. It was awfully uncomfortable - especially considering the price of our stay. We had two rooms and the girls in the other room also could not make their pull out couch situation work as a bed. We needed towels and other supplies early on in our trip. We called the front desk 3 to 4 times over a six hour period and were still not helped. We went to a housekeeper and asked her for help and it was still a "no". We were finally helped when I walked all the way down to the front desk. The swimming pool is very, very tiny and could probably comfortably fit about 6 adults. There are also only like 7 chairs. Very little privacy. Props to the gym though and the unlimited filtered water in the gym. Breakfast in the morning was decent. Nothing to write home about but a nice free breakfast is always appreciated. This hotel is not in the best area. Despite what Google maps shows, I would not plan on walking around a lot in the area. This is JUST NOT OPINION. Do not come for me in comments or messages - you will be ignored. We were a great of 8 girls. It depends on your group. I would recommend planning/budgeting on Ubers/Lyfts throughout the trip. Make sure to budget accordingly for that. This hotel is located close to a lot of places you would want to visit so you won't be in an Uber or Lyft for long. Both of our rooms looked directly into the windows of the hotel across the way. I would plan to keep blinds/curtains closed. Very little privacy. While there is a fridge in the room, it is VERY, very tiny. Be mindful of that while doing any sort of grocery shopping. I am so angry right now. Not only did I have to clean crap off of the toilet in our room, the front desk clerk lied to me! I questioned the discrepancy in the cost my bank emailed me and the booking.com price I was given as a total price. It was about 50 dollars more. He assured me that it would be removed after checkout. I did get a printput on our way out but neglected to look t it. Just got home and now I see a 40 dollar charge for parking. He never said a word about an additional charge for parking. Had I know I may or may not have stayed. It's a sketch area and it's forced valet parking. My husband doesn't like anyone driving our truck and I did mention that to the front desk when we checked in. Maybe THAT would have been a good time to advise me on the charge for parking. This is outright lying by omission. This hotel is nowhere near worth the final cost of our room. I would advise no one to stay here. They should be ashamed. read more

The room itself was physically nice and the bed was comfy but the hotel abuts a nightclub which can make sleeping a challenge. Bring earplugs as these are not supplied with the room. The front desk guy was nice and gave us an early check-in. The lobby is large and comfortable and there is coffee in it but the "free breakfast" was extremely unimpressive. No bread for toast, only apples for fruit, reconstituted eggs. The computers in the lobby freeze up when you try to use them. Very walkable to nearby sights. read more

Tough to review this one. Having read previous reviews, don't be scared off by the homeless shelter, it's 2 blocks away and the yahoos camped outside of the shelter are not hanging out in front of the Hyatt House. My solution, don't walk by it and you're fine. The hotel is new and clean. Check-in was fast and easy. The staff has been friendly and prompt, from the valet, front desk, maid, and lobby bartender. Breakfast was a good quality, similar to what you find at other Hyatt's. If you're needing to be near Governor's Mansion or a show at Stubb's then this is a great option. The negatives include being a little out of the way from most of downtown, required valet parking, relatively close homeless shelter, shoddy craftsmanship in my room from when built which is not a Hyatt norm. The bathroom included: - uneven shower tiles - grout lines are different colors - White paint on the brown sliding door - extra holes drilled in door for handle - pencil markings on ceiling - sloppy putty used to try and seal seams - inability to turn sink faucet on completely due to mirror being too close. While this is not a make or break issues for this stay, it is concerning. I hope the electrician didn't cut the same corners. Hyatt would be wise to use a different contractor in future builds. Would I stay here again? Probably not unless it was a great price. read more

We arrived late on Monday evening (12/26), check in was find, however, the service and staff attitude went down from there. Our room was not serviced on a daily basis, not even fresh towels. I had to find maids cart our second day of 4 day stay to pick over simple hand and bath towels. Upon checking out 130a, our car was parked in the valet area ready to load. All our bags were accounted for, except for 1. The morning valet witnessed a homeless person seal a fabric bag as we were loading the rest of our items in the car. The valet said nothing to my husband (a paying guest), nor to the homeless person stealing the bag. The the HELL! The valet didn't even offer to help load or assist my husband loading our car. I pulled up around 8:30 pm, nobody was there so I parked in the front to unload my bags and check in. Let me preface that this was my first time traveling away with my 2 year old daughter, by myself. It was her first trip away from home period. After I unloaded our bags, in true toddler fashion, she decides she can't push her little suitcase. I picked her up to prevent a larger melt down and try to get all of our stuff inside while holding her. The guy working valet asks if I wanted valet, I said no then proceeds to tell me my car can't be there more than 10 minutes. I tell him I'm traveling by myself with a child, I'm just trying to check in and then I'll more my car. Not once did he offer to help me with my bags. At least the man at the front desk saw my struggle and asked me if I needed assistance to my room. I ended up paying the overpriced valet to insure my car wasn't broken into, since there is so many homeless people around or that it didn't get towed. However when I was checking out and requested my car, I was standing at the side of the road, with my toddler and our bags and the lady pulls the car up way past me. Again, where was no other cars around, no one was pulling up to check in. To me, it was a little bit ridiculous to pull the car up so far away from me, she could have been a bit more considerate and parked it by where I was standing so I could've easily put my child and luggage in the car. Again, didn't even offer to help. I have worked in customer service my whole life, that was not at all good customer service. Someone really needs to remind them that they are in the hospitality business because they weren't the least bit hospitable nor even just a decent human being. Also, the internet service is horrible and it is close to a concert venue, so don't expect to get any sleep. I do not recommend staying here. read more

I went to visit my college daughter for her birthday and was so unimpressed with this property. My daughter wouldn't sleep there and I felt filthy there. Carpet had stains all over and a strange white stain at bedside table. After 1st nights I asked front desk why my room had not been serviced and they said rooms get made every 2nd day. After 2nd night I once again inquired and was told that they get cleaned every 3rd day. Well after I booked 4 nights and they hadn't made the room after 3 nights and by 1 p.m. on my 4th day, there were no cleaning staff to be seen on my floor, I had to book out!!! My free time was spent in the common area as being in the room made me feel sick. As an out of towner, I was not advised as to a festival and the noise until 3 a.m. that would take place and on top of that, I was having to pay higher rates. I have mixed feelings about this Hyatt! When I checked in, I was blown away by the helpful staff at the front desk. They continued to make me smile throughout the week with friendly comments and a nice "welcome back!" when I returned after a day of work. My room was clean and a nice size, and I was pleasantly surprised at the variety of the breakfast offerings, which is included in your room rate. They had a ton of fresh cut fruit, hard boiled eggs, cereals, and hot foods like french toast, waffles, eggs, and breakfast potatoes. I would have given the hotel four starts, but but with the location considered I would give it two stars. I decided on three as a midpoint. That being said, the area this Hyatt House is in is not nice. When I booked it online, I was excited that it was close enough to downtown that I could walk around and walk to restaurants. I learned the first night this would not be the case when I walked about a block east of the hotel and had a young man come out of another hotel and tell me I should not be walking alone in this area. The hotel is just a block or two from a Salvation Army outpost that is in a very sketchy area. That spooked me a little and I decided to Uber around for the next few days. Thinking I might be dramatic, I asked some people I worked with about that area of town and they confirmed that they wouldn't be walking around there after dark either, and even found the area a bit unnerving during the day. I was disappointed in the surrounding area given how impressed I was with the hotel! Despite having a positive experience at the hotel, I don't think I'd stay here again because of that. read more
