    Two piece chicken meal
    Natalie E.

This review is for the dine in hot food area. I was very underwhelmed by the meal I had the other day. For about eight dollars I got two pieces of chicken, mashed potatoes, and green beans. I chose the smoked chicken that they smoke out on that smoker they have out front. The chicken was definitely the stand out of the meal. It was slightly smoky and quite tender. The sides were pretty dismal. I wish I would have known the green beans were canned before ordering them. They were mushy and devoid of flavor, really just not enjoyable. The mashed potatoes were also a big letdown. They looked good in the case, but they had a crust on the top from where air had hit them and even after stirring and adding copious amounts of salt and pepper, they were also pretty inedible. I understand that this isn't a fancy place, but I do expect cleanliness from anywhere I'm dining. As you can see in the photo, the top of the saltshaker was absolutely disgusting. I know it takes work to keep things clean but honestly you can't cut corners when it comes to things like this. I had to search at several tables to find a salt shaker that I would remotely consider using on my food. This is just an example of a place that is skipping on the basics: cleanliness and flavor.

I'm giving the store I shop at religiously a mediocre score because all the good things they do are lately out-weighed by the nuisance that is large obstacles of boxes in aisles on busy days. Last Sunday I came in and making it into the dairy section was like going the wrong way in Happy Hollow in rush hour. Sadly I figured this would be the case. It has been for at least a few years I'm guesstimating. Get it together folks, stock your shelves earlier. Take smaller loads out during high volume times. Teach the teens working for you to be cognizant of customers' convenience. Sometimes they stand there stocking shelves with no regard for a waiting customer behind them. Also, teach the baggers to find the customers most in need of their service. Why, when I come with my little one, do the baggers always go to the check out with a single adult purchasing minimal stuff? When I've got a boatload of groceries and a kid to manage, why should I bag my own groceries? The small things that make this Midwest-born grocery store known for stand-up service have all but died. My first job was at Hy-Vee in Bettendorf, IA in 1996. So I know. Pictures attached taken 5/20/18.

Absolutely amazing cake made by Mollie in the bakery. Doesn't get much better than this.

    It's that time again y'all.

I want someone to know that she is super and excellent in customer service. She has always been willing to help me any way she can and I feel she is a valuable associate for Family Fare. I cannot complement her enough to let her know how much I appreciate her attention to detail and her outstanding customer service.

What a difference it makes to be able to glide through the aisles without people pushing and shoving past you. Second, it's clean. The carts are nice (no rickety wheels here) and there are a good amount of smaller ones that come in handy for those quick trips. Plus, they don't clog up the aisles either. Finally, I LOVE the self check lanes. They aren't all clustered together and there are two sizes. The small ones for those in and out stops and my personal favorite, the larger ones with a belt length like a regular check out lane. If you're a crazy organized bagger like me, you will greatly appreciate these lanes. My husband probably does too because our self bagging process has improved immensely since discovering this, which means I'm not nagging him to bag better or get out of my way. Definitely make sure you have the customer card because those discounts do add up - I've had as much as $14 of savings in one trip. You also earn cents off the gallon at Quik Trip. Another reviewer mentioned the Direct Your Dollars program which I hadn't investigated yet, but I will now. I'd say you should shop here but I don't want to it become crowded like all the other stores. Maybe I shouldn't have written this review. Hmmm.

I stopped by today in particular to get apples because I forgot to grab them during my normal grocery run and I happened to be nearby. The first thing I noticed was the exterior building. It doesn't look like it's been updated or that well kept up since it was constructed. It looks like the building has aged, and that big sign on a post looks dated as well. The interior was not dirty, but also looked dated and could definitely use a refresh. Businesses in the Regency area tend to look fancier and better well kept up, so I'd like to see this Whole Foods get a little TLC. I just feel like the vibe is off a little from what I would expect. I also expected to see a wider variety of apples. I guess to me Whole Foods means lots of organic and natural items as well as a broader selection than what you might find at conventional grocery store like Hy-Vee. But that really wasn't the case. Other than having lots of organic options, the specific types of apples weren't that unique or exciting. When it came time to check out, there was not a single open register with a human being. They only had self check out open, which is not my immediate preference.

Upon entering I saw the computerized shopping carts with scanners and decided to give it a try. Once I figured out how to scan my ID into the cart, it worked perfectly. I found a 23 pound fresh turkey and had no problems scanning it into the cart. Also found some nice stuffing mix and chicken broth and scanned them into the cart too. Was looking for a specific type of beer and asked the person in the beer cooler about it. He said they didn't have it but recommended a nice alternative. Checkout was extremely easy using the cart once I figured out which lane I had to go through to trigger the final checkout. I'm a tech geek so enjoyed the whole shopping experience and the ambiance of the store. Was cool that the digital receipt showed up in my Amazon account. Prices were higher than I would normally pay, even for organic labeled food, but Whole Foods was the only place I could with organic labeled fresh whole turkey. The turkey and stuffing were delicious, so I consider it worth the cost. I'll probably be back next year for another turkey.
