Hy Painting is painting our apartment complex, and they have terrible communication skills. Over a week ago, they started on our side of the apartment, getting up on our balcony to paint the exterior of the building. They failed to mention to management that they needed balcony access, so I woke up one morning to find to workers covering my stuff sitting out on the balcony. I asked them if I needed to bring in my property to avoid any damages and they said "No." They covered things with plastic, but it wasn't enough and I found that, nearly, everything that I had out there had gotten white paint on it; even the balcony floor, which is brown. I called the owner and he stopped by the next day to inspect, saying that he would have them clean up. Suffice it to say, their "cleaning" left a lot to be desired and didn't remedy the damage done to two chairs, some glass, potted plants, and a few other items. The workers, including the owner, don't speak English well enough to effectively communicate in the effort to prevent something like this that is easily preventable, or resolve something like this properly. They're still working on the apartment, getting paint on things other than the walls. Painting large buildings like apartments isn't an easy job, but taking the proper precautions to prevent damage to people's property is required when you own and operate a business. Had Hy Painting paint the exterior of my house. The whole process was very easy and quick. Mr Yoon quickly came out to my house to give a look on the weekend. He followed up with an emailed quote within a day or two. Price was reasonable, especially when I compared it to a couple of the outrageous quotes that I got. I elected to go with him, and he told me he could start in about 5 days. We agreed on a day and the guys showed up right on time. It was a crew that ranged from 2 - 5 guys, depending on the time of the day. They were well organized, did a good job, protected the floor, and overall did a satisfactory job. Their workmanship is great. Their customer service is not. The quote was sent. We agreed to the amount and never received a contract. Arrangements were made to make payments and accepted verbally. Work was started and completed. Once the job was completed we received a nasty phone call from someone who demanded payment in full NOW. My parents hired Hy to paint the exterior and interior (including removal of popcorn ceilings) of their house. I was impressed by the work he did (the owner painted their house himself), especially the ceilings since it seems like eliminating popcorn ceilings would be tough. Hy Painting did a great job! I always find it difficult to find trustworthy contractors because that type of work is usually so expensive while the quality can vary greatly regardless of price. Lots of places promise for after services/touch ups before the contract but they usually do not keep up the promise once the job is done. "Hy Painting" is not one of those!!! We painted our whole house about a year ago but we needed some touch ups after we installed a new door. Even though the issue wasn't caused by them, they were willing to come out to do the touch ups for my house. I strongly recommend these people if you want any paint job done. Hy Painting did two large areas for me. I obtained 3 competitive quotes prior to awarding Hy the job. Their price was right in the middle. The job required drywall patching on smooth walls (no texture). The work was excellent. Painting was good in all visible areas, but I discovered later, shortcuts were taken in areas not readily visible. The crew neglected to tape window mullions as required by job spec. They were shown a completed window prior to starting, and agreed to use tape. But they clearly did not comply as evidenced by crooked, jagged lines. Very sloppy. Also, paint did not match in some hard to reach high areas; and they failed to protect one wall dimmer, ruining it. However, the Hy's owner was very apologetic and responsible, and perfectly willing to send the crew back to make all corrections. But for expediency, I made the corrections myself. read more

I was looking for a painter and had ran into an apt manager at a hardware store. He recommended HY Painting. He had used them before and they did a wonderful job. So decided to give HY Painting a call. Mr. James came and gave a quote for the exterior of the house. It was reasonably priced and he had a license and insurance. He finished the job within the week. They really took an effort to make the house beautiful. We had the side boards rotted due water damage from the sprinklers. He special ordered the boards to replace the rotted planks. Then sprayed it with waterproof sealant. We also had a metal shed that was bolted to the cement but he had that removed and the contents disposed of. The following year, we bought another home and needed paint for the interior. This house had many issues. Mr. James was very attentive to providing excellent service. We founded rotted wood and drywalls due to old caulking etc. He was able to help us find other areas that needed fixing as they prepared to paint. The handyman left some work unfinished but he had his workers help clean up the area and finish the work that was left undone. He came back after a month when we had an electrician leave a hole in the garage. We also had the interior of our old home painted. While doing so he found some gaps in our exterior paint he did last year. He came back and filled all those as well! Posted pictures from the latest paint job. They also use Dunn-Edwards paint. In all, HY Painting does quality work. Any issues you may afterwards they are willing to amend. That is wonderful customer service which is hard to come by these days. read more

I got the name of this painter - James, from a realtor a couple years ago and had the interior of my house painted. I am picky about colors and asked him to get several samples for me, which he did, and painted them in sections on the wall and labelled so we knew which color was which. His guys moved and covered all the furniture up very well inside and had the house painted in the time we discussed including some patching and repairs for switching kitchen handles and various other fixes. Recently, I had him paint the exterior of my store with a section along the bottom and a different color on top and the line is perfectly straight. His crew cleans up nicely, no droplets left behind. I did a slight color and sheen change. I requested they carefully tape over outlets, switches and door handles. And that they would leave me a little leftover paint for touch ups. He sent 2 workers to start the job at 8:00 am. after half hour, I receive a call from james that the workers left because they thought it's a lot of work and wont finish it in 2 days. I was shocked.
