They took care of me when some fool merged into my lane on top me and thrashed my front quarter panel. Husteads takes care of everything they make it so easy--they dialed me in with a morning appointment, contacted the rental care co to come get me, and went above and beyond making sure everything that was damaged was properly repaired and covered by the insurance claim. It did take a bit of time, but that was due to parts not being available and no fault of husteads. Oh and my car looks better after than it did before the accident :) read more

Hustead is a preferred vendor for State Farm. I had the unfortunate opportunity to have this organization work on my car and the quality of work and professionalism was less than stellar. I've taken the car back on 3 separate occasions to have it fixed. When confronted about the quality of work they indicated bumps in the road was the reason for bumper clips continuing to come apart and had the audacity to accuse a 78 year old lady of trying to run a scam on them. I would not recommend this organization as a result of their crappy work, lack of integrity, and accusatory bed side manner. We don't expect perfection, but when mistakes are made we do expect the organization to own them. read more

I was read ended at a red light by a driver who "dropped something and looked away for just a second". What looked like just a mangled bumper turned out to be much more than that. The first body shop I went to - recommended by her (the driver who hit me) insurance wanted to total my car. No, thank you very much. I found Husteads and decided to see what they thought. Sam was my estimator and after crawling around under my car (she got right down on the ground in the parking lot!) she said it was repairable, that they would be able to do the work and it would be covered by the other drivers insurance. Hallelujah! I dropped my car off a week later. Sam kept me updated throughout the process and on Friday of that same week the repair was complete and I was able to be reunited with my car. Cannot thank Sam and Husteads enough for their professionalism and the repair work they did. Here's hoping I don't need more repair work in the future but if I do I know where I'll be going. read more

I was bumper tapped by a driver in slow and go traffic when she looked away from the road and at her phone. Going through her insurance to make it easy on me and Husteads was an option. So glad I chose them. From the moment I called the shop, Gianna made me feel welcome and even suggested calling GEICO back to get a rental car. I really liked the texts that alerted me as the car when through the different stages and she made it easy by allowing me to drop off the rental car with them. My car looks like a bright shiny jewel after repairs and their detailing. I've already recommended them to my neighbor who is looking for a place to get some body work done on her car. read more

Hustead's Autobody essentially held my car hostage for FIVE months!!!!!! Granted, my insurance, the General, also contributed to the problem. BuHustead's offered terrible customer service, telling me repeatedly that they were waiting for a part. And at about the 4-month mark, the receptionist LAUGHED when I called and asked if my car was ready. I did NOT find the situation the least bit funny. read more

I went with Hustead's as my insurance didn't cover work by the body shop I'd used previously and was very satisfied with. However, Hustead's also does high quality body/paint work and was likewise pleasant to deal with! read more

I've come here about 3-4 times and Every. Single. Time. Sam is AMAZING. She makes going to repair a car from an accident a fun experience. They have repaired and cleaned the cars so well every time without making it difficult for the customers. I will always return if I need repairs!! read more

My car, Viper (that's his name), was purposely assaulted when an idiot brutally scratched him, damaging his own car. Insurance company recommended Husteads, and took care of initiating repair. Receptionist called to schedule appointment for me to bring car in. Upon bringing car in, Michael took care of me. He explained the process of what to expect, and called the rental company to come pick me up to get a rental. Viper was complete in 5 days, he looks good as new. I appreciate the customer service provided. It's annoying enough to have an incident, let alone the hassle of what comes after. Thank goodness for a great/easy experience. Viper is recovering well & he is also thankful for helping him heal. read more

Love this auto body shop! Dale and Sean legitimately saved me from a nightmare! I was sent to Husteads by Farmers for some issues with my bumper. Turns out the shop that repaired my bumper previously, used screws and glue to hold the bumper in place! Dale gave me a call to break the news to me. He even sent pics to confirm what was hidden beneath the bumper. Sure enough, there were a bunch of screws and glue, holding my sh*t together. My insurance asked that I go back to the old shop, so they can fix the damage... ...but long story short, I refused to go back to the old shop who performed questionable work on my car. Luckily, Sean obtained approval so that his shop can repair my bumper properly. Throughout the entire process, Sean and Dale were very communicative. They were very helpful also. I clearly didn't know how to navigate this scenario, but both gentlemen reassured me that I am not liable for the faulty repairs! Sean and Dale were honest and truthful, which I admire. I highly recommend this shop. I believe they have 3 locations: super clean + professional shops. I will be taking my car here for any future repairs! Matter of fact, I tried to switch insurance agencies due to the professionalism of this shop!!! Also, they repaired my bumper with original Lexus parts. Thank you both again!!! read more

My car was hit while parked at work and I needed it fixed quick. I called around and got some quotes but Hustead's autobody offered the best price and the fastest turnaround time. Spoke to a guy by the name of Sean and wow, talk about excellent customer service! I even received my car back earlier than the initial date promised, and the paint and body work was flawless! 5 star company, definitely my new go to for all my auto body needs! read more

Had a fender bender recently and found this shop about a mile from home. Read reviews here and saw almost all 4-5 reviews. From the moment I arrived, I knew my car would be handled properly. Dale was wonderful throughout the entire process! And, I absolutely love the text messages that let you know the stage of repair! No wondering; no having to call to find out what's going on! Upon picking up (1 day earlier than promised), I was surprised at how new my car looked.....and it was only a bumper! The car wash was the icing on the cake.....A thorough hand wash...including interior, mats, door crevices; even the rubber on windows! Highly recommend - as they have high standards, efficient nd nice people! read more

My insurance company recommended Hustead's Auto Body for the repair work needed on my Honda. I got EXCELLENT service from when the estimate was done at Hustead's Berkeley to the repair work at Hustead's Oakland. Carlos and Dale are professional and courteous, guiding me through the process, coordinating rides to and from the car rental company, and keeping me informed all along. The technicians are trained by Honda and the repair work was flawless. I highly recommend Hustead's Auto Body. read more

Husteads Auto Body - Oakland - Body Shops Near Me - Oakland, California

This location is great. Got into an accident and with my insurance agent recommendation, had my vehicle repaired here. Made an appointment with Terry the front desk representative to walk through and hand over my keys to Francis who was my vehicles point of contact. Both of them was professional and easy to talk to and when it came to an issue, Francis didn't shy away from taking care of it right away. I would recommend this location to anyone that needs their vehicle repaired. The only little trouble was, the people behind the counter, if you can ignore their pillow talk then all will go well, other than that, thank you to Terry, Francis and the Techs that took care of my vehicle and put it back together better than ever. I appreciate the win and you guys are awesome. read more

My rear bumper was scratched. Took it into Husteads for repair. Terrie, Francisco, and Carlos were all fabulous to deal with. Terrie is a bundle of joy and made my experience quick and easy. I cannot love this place enough!!! When we were rear ended last year our insurance recommended this place. They were incredible to us. Finished before the deadline they set, communicated with us the entire time and were so incredibly friendly!!!! We dealt with Sean Schenck. I cannot rave enough about him and his customer service!!! So when I had to take my car in because of a message on my dashboard about our blind spots he took care of me again. Even though it wasn't even their responsibility because it had nothing to do with their previous work, he fixed it and took care of the oil change that our car needed but I had been postponing until Covid-19 had calmed down. He treated me like I was family the moment he took the call. You know how you always want to have a doctor and a mechanic in the family for the "hook ups" and for the "free advice" when you need it??? Well the level of service from the quality of care to the level of care they give you as an individual feels like we scored one in our family! I completely trust them and I know they go above and beyond to gain and keep that trust. I will only use them from now on. Being a woman, it is hard to know if people are taking advantage of you because you don't know the ins and outs of a car. But with Sean and Husteads I don't feel like I need to bring my husband with me to make sure I am not getting charged for something I don't need. I am soo glad I finally found someone I can trust and I know me and my family are in good hands! Its been years since I wrote a review so I take this very seriously... i highly recommend this place!!!! read more

My car was side swiped while it was parked and I needed my drivers side mirror blinker reflector replaced. I ordered the party from the car dealership, when the part came in I also had a service appt so it could be installed. Come to find out service did not want to install due to it being considered auto body. They gave me Sean's card at Husteads and I drove over to see if they could install. I got there asked for Sean, waited in the waiting room about 5 mins, then met Sean. He asked for my keys took the part and come back about 15 mins later and said your all set. What?? I was super excited it was done, I was thinking I was going to have to make an appt etc and come back. Nope all was good, best Cutstomer service ever!!! Just ask for Sean, he will take care of you. read more

I just realized I gave the Husteads in Berkeley the review instead of this one. Sorry! So I had to make one here..I got my catalytic converter stolen by my house and was told by the insurance company that make sure the shop you go to can do this because a lot of models are back ordered right now. Terri who answers the phone made sure Dominic would be able to get my car back running again and got me an appointment and from there on it was the best customer service I have ever had at a shop. Dominic explained the process and Terri kept me updated and worked with me on my pick up. I was able to return my rental at the shop which was a plus and the cherry on top was my car was cleaned inside and out which really made my day! They are the best and love their honesty. If you end up needing a body shop they are definitely worth calling! read more

I was in a minor fender bender and needed a quote. There was a couple ahead of me but the staff was quick, friendly, and efficient so I was in and out within twenty minutes. They walked me through the quote and various scenarios of possible additional damage that might be beneath the surface once the bumper came off. They could very easily have given me an insane quote knowing insurance was involved but nope! Good, honest guys. I hope to never have reason to find myself needing such services again but if I do this is where I'm going. read more

This 5-star review is long overdue. I had to get a passenger-side mirror replaced a couple of years ago when someone somehow smashed it while I was driving down College Avenue. I bought the replacement mirror from Honda -- Honda recommended that I have Hustead's install it. I scheduled an appointment with the Market St. location, and Hustead's not only installed the side mirror perfectly -- they did the work for free! And today, I got the same stellar customer service from Dale at the Oakland Market St. location. Dale is a gem -- he was so kind to me over the phone when I called about an estimate for replacing a broken tail light. I bought the tail light assembly online (way cheaper than buying it from the dealership), brought it over to Hustead's, and lucky me, Dale was there. He remembered our conversation over the phone, and he had the tail light assembly installed right away. I was there for no longer than 15 minutes -- and just like two years ago, I was charged zero for labor! I would recommend Hustead's to anyone for their amazing customer service, professionalism, fair estimates, and quality of work. read more

Long story short, my car was swiped and my right side mirror needed replacement this last weekend. I called up Husteads because they were certified by Honda to repair a moving collision, in which Dale answered the phone. With the upmost kindness and helpful guidance throughout this week-long process, Dale was able help me replace it with only a few emails and two phone calls. He ordered my mirror to be sent over before even giving me my estimate, in order to speed up the process. He kept me updated on the ETA of arrival. He then had his team fix it during lunch hours, within 20 minutes after I arrived. He even offered to send me a Uber home if it would take too long. I highly recommend taking your car in to Husteads, they'll take care of you! read more

A few months after the repair, which was not great, the paint started to crack. Hustead's refused to honor their warranty and said another impact in the exact same spot must have caused the cracking, although there was no sign of another impact. Another body shop told me that because the paint was cracking under the clear coat but the clear coat was not cracking, the cracking was caused by the poor repair job, not an impact. I had to pay out of pocket to fix the cracking paint. read more

I chose to get my car repaired here after a hit & run because it looked reliable & only a couple blocks from where I live.To make a long story short I had several items taken from my car while in possession of this body shop and when I brought it up to the manager he told me " my guys would never steal from our customers " and basically told me that they're not responsible for missing items also that's included in the contract. To which I can sort of understand but just because it says in the contract that they're not liable for lost or missing items doesn't give them the right to go in customers cars and take items.I will never get my car worked on here ever again read more

I am very fortunate to this place, they saved me much money on a dent that would have cost me hundreds of dollars. I seen this place as I was driving down San Pablo in West Oakland. I had been looking for a place to fix a miner dint and decided to pull into Husteads. I was greeted by a representative whom told me how I might fix it at home myself instead of paying lots of money, since it was just a minor dent . When I asked him how would I obtain the tools, he said wait a minute, grab one of the guys in the shop and took care of for me within 10 minutes on the house. Great professional service, I would highly recommended, Much thanks to them for helping, I am extremely grateful. read more

A semi blew a tire in front of my Magnum SRT8 (I waited 13 years for this car) & threw the alligator into my front grill. I had the tow take it to Husteads because I live just around the corner and they have been around since I can remember. When I got my car back the paint was all orange peel dimpled, and chipped into the fiberglass/ plastic every time a pebble hit it, leaving a bright yellow spot on my black car. Further more, the paint then started to peel and flake from that spot. Looked like no primer & one coat of paint. When I went to open the hood, I noticed the headlights didn't match. Further inspection revealed wire harnesses left unattached, hanging down by the fan. The alignment had not been checked and was waaaaay out of spec., needing new tie rods. The skid plate was missing and the wheel well mud guards were flipping around with nothing to attach to on the bottom. I took it back and the guy blew a bunch of BS at me and made a lot of promises that were never kept. So I ended up doing most of it myself. At my own cost AVOID THIS PLACE LIKE A PLAGUE RIDDEN RAT. THEY ARE THIEVES. read more

If you have an issue with your car... go to these guys!! Dale will take care of you. Back in February/March, I came back to my car to find that my window was smashed and the electrical was ripped out so I gave them a call to fix it for me. That was right when Covid started strong and it made for slower operations, but Dale and his crew got it done and were super amazing with the following through. So 5 stars for the first go around... What really inspired me to write this review though was the second time. I came back to my car no more than a week later and someone had broken the lock and tried to hot wire it. Ever since then, my battery would spontaneously and mysteriously drain and not start. I've taken it to 5 shops since and no one has been able to figure out the problem. Ultimately, Dale wasn't able to either, but to me that's less important. What IS important is that he went out of his way to take care of me. They were still backed up from the pandemic, but he was gracious to help me get it off the street and store it on his lot despite his limited capacity until they were able to really dive in and figure out what the problem was. He could have left me hanging and he absolutely did not and I'm so grateful for that. He figured out a makeshift solution for me and most importantly he put my mind at ease after a repeated onslaught of horrendous car luck. Their shop is busy for a reason. They take care of you. Period. read more

Husteads is my go-to repair shop, this being my second insurance repair with them. I came in for a simple estimate today 2/19/20 to see how much I would have to come out of pocket to repair damage done to my driver side door & front side of vehicle. I left satisfied due to the fact that Dale was super attentive - I drove up to this shop & got out the car on my passenger side & left the shop getting in on my driver side (my driver side door was jammed due to the damage done). I stated to Dale that my main concern was being able to get in my car on my driver side - with that being said - Dale went above & beyond & was able to pop out a small dent that now allows me to get in & out my car in the driver side. Thanks Dale. Overall a great shop & would definitely recommend getting service here. I didn't pay for any service today due to the cost but I left satisfied. In the future if I decide to move forward with the repair - I will be returning to this shop. read more
