Husky stadium is a great place to watch a game, epically when the Dawgs are killing a Pac-10 opponent. This review is aimed at the concession providers and not the facility itself (which is beautiful). I waited in line at the Club level to get a coffee. It was painful to observe the inefficiency with the party in front of me. I think they wanted a paper receipt and only one of the 20 or so registers could print that out so it took a long while and 4 different employees to get that accomplished. It was finally my turn and I ordered my coffee. I decided to leave a 20% tip on the cashless screen, NOT because the service was anything other than robotic, but I figured these people don't earn a whole lot. The Starbucks drip coffee arrived and I asked where I could get cream and sugar. "We don't have that.".......Wait.....What?!?!?! Over $6.00 for the coffee and tip and no cream and sugar? Starbucks plastered all over the stadium and no cream and sugar? I told them they could keep their coffee and left it on the counter. What am I missing here? read more

Good sitelines from the upper deck + loud, vocal fans = Good times. I've been to several Pac-10 and NFL stadiums and Husky Stadium is the loudest I've been to. So loud that OSU had to stop and call time out several times to get their play calling in order. To me, that's one of the marks of a good stadium experience. To top it off, UW won in double overtime. Touchdowns: - Good, smart fan base creates a lot of noise. - Good view even from high up in the upper deck (North stand, Row AA). - Great location next to campus (contrast with the Rose Bowl, which is 25 miles from campus, or USC which is next to campus but in the ghetto). - Easy (and free) access to/from downtown Seattle via bus. Penalties: - Difficult, if not impossible, to hear the UW band from the upper deck of the North stand since they are right beneath you. - The upper deck is so high that it takes forever to exit. - The concession fare in the North stand was pretty weak. Nice college atmosphere, experience priceless but really the nose bleed were nose bleed bank in the daya I think that the stadium was fine but there wasn't any rain. We loved the weather while we were here. We had sun to enjoy the days. The campus was beautiful!! The first snack place I went to did not have pretzels. I had to go to three of them to find one. The nachos didn't have hot cheeZe I think the bag was just placed and they didn't give me as much. The clam chowder soup was okay not the best. The worst was the seats for out of towners like us. It was nose belled and scary. The hand rails didn't make me feel any more secure going up or just sitting there. It felt better when I had people around me. There is a reason they call Husky Stadium the best setting in college football. The stadium itself is large and imposing. It sits on Lake Washington as a symbol for the university. The field always looks great and the seating is what you'd expect from a stadium this size. Security to enter the stadium is standard - you need a see-through bag or you have to check a bag outside the stadium for $10/bag. It's best to go without if you can. Parking lots on either side of the stadium are packed for tailgating on game days. The best way to get to the stadium is public transit, because you won't find parking. Many seats have a view of Lake Washington past the main video board. The main video board, while big, is pretty terrible. The aspect ratio is too wide, so you'll never see a useful replay, you can only ever see player's torsos. You're better off looking at the smaller video screens. The men's bathrooms are troughs, which helps with getting in-and-out during half-time. Of course, the food and drinks are *way* overpriced, as you'd expect. Go Dogs! read more

This stadium needs a serious update... or maybe a tear-down and rebuild. I attended the recent Ducks/Huskies game here, and was amazed at how old and decrepit the stadium has become. Let me count the ways. 1. Benches in the West end have been repainted so many times you can barely see the numbers on the seats 2. Men's bathrooms are in portable/temporary structures 3. No beer garden inside the ticket areas, you have to leave at half and walk ALL the way around to the East side to go to The Zone for a brew 4. No way to get from West to East ends without either leaving the stadium and re-entering, or climbing up into the stands and cutting across. 5. Concrete in the West end starting to deteriorate 6. North parking lot tailgate area is a freakin' hike from the stadium I just spent $70 per ticket to attend a game here (and those were end-zone seats). That's a lot of cheddar for something this old. It was a lot nicer when I saw a game here back in the early 90's. read more

Husky Stadium holds many memories for me, and they all revolve around Husky football. Yes, soccer and track have had their moments here. But the football team has won championships, and tens of thousands of fans have gathered here on Saturdays for generations. This stadium's heart beats football. As at the University of Tennessee, many of our fans show up by boat, dropping anchor and loosing boisterous alumni on the shores of the lake. No other school can claim such a cool venue. And we do turn out a rowdy crowd here. Truth be told, I have in fact seen crowds even nicer; in our national championship season the Nebraska Cornhusker faithful, for demolishing their boys on the road in Lincoln, gave us a standing ovation as we came off their field. That level of true sportsmanship is rare, even in college athletics. We might not quite be there--but we're still a very welcoming and collegial crowd nonetheless. And definitely loud. For the visiting players, however, this place has been quite inhospitable at times. Lately we've offered precious little resistance to opponents seeking victory, though last season shows progress. But it hasn't always been that way. Realistically, in the PAC-10, only USC has regularly been able to say they're more talented than every other school in the conference. We've only been able to say that for a season here and there. We made up for that talent gap with toughness and fitness, compounded occasionally by gloomy, howling rainstorms. Teams might keep it close against us, but when the fourth quarter rolled around, cold and damp, every Husky player would hold four fingers aloft. We were known for last-minute comebacks for years, and for putting teams away with huge fourth quarters. The stadium itself, though, in many ways set the tone for the day well before the fourth quarter. A long tunnel runs under the stadium from the locker rooms to the sideline. Teams meet for last-minute pre-game pep talks in auditoriums off the tunnel. When Stanford came to town in 87, we had a new north deck to christen, adding thousands of seats and improving the look of the stadium. Stanford players for some reason had said they were "on a crusade," part of which included spoiling the opening ceremonies in our newly remodeled stadium. A freshman that year, I was working in the athletic department, and was about to run down the tunnel with a hugely heavy first aid kit in each hand. Just as I got to the top of the incline, the doors to the meeting room burst open. They're those crash-bar doors, and the first couple dozen players bounced through, shoved out into the tunnel by an angry mob of teammates. To this day, any time I need a jolt of intensity in my mood, all I have to do is picture that memory. As the first couple dozen players bounced off the opposite wall and started ricocheting into each other, smashing helmets and pads, the chants got louder--"WHOSE house? DAWGS' HOUSE!" Even with 75 pounds in each hand, I couldn't feel any weight. The intensity was overwhelming. Chris Chandler hit Darryl Franklin for a 70+ yard TD on our second play of the game, and we never looked back. Keep your crusade, Stanford. And we weren't even that good that year. The national championship team was ten times better, at least. That tunnel certainly isn't a private passage just for the Dawgs, though. Opponents have to use it to get to the field too. This has sometimes been a choreographed affair. They'll near the bottom of the tunnel, and the security guards will swing the gate shut and lock it--"sorry guys, your band said they were coming through this part of the track and they need a minute to set up to play for you." Mysteriously, the lights then flicker and turn off. The meeting rooms upslope crash open, and the Huskies come down the tunnel, trapping the other team. Howling, barking, chanting, they press the opponents down against the gate. The security guard sees this, waits for a minute, and says "geez, guys, I don't know where your band is. They said they'd be here. Go on ahead." There have been countless legendary moments here for Husky fans. The stadium itself will change fairly radically in a year, with a lower field and many seats much closer to the game. As with the north deck, we'll have a christening to defend. We haven't set the opponent yet for that game. Whoever they turn out to be, I hope they tell the media beforehand they want to spoil things for us that day. And I hope we give them a proper welcome to the newest era of the Dawgs' House. read more

Was excited for the training camp! Headed down early to park and get in. It was a beautiful day...a little warm for me...but better than rain! When we arrived there were no attendants working the gates...so it was kind of strange....2 gates asking for credit card payments (so we are going to have to make sure we didn't get charged 2x). We parked and made the long walk to the west gate entrance (long when you're in a boot cast). The gates were closed and they said they weren't going to open until 5:45. It was 5pm. There wasn't any where to sit, and there were quite a few people that thought gates would be open early like we did. Unfortunately we had to wait, but once we were in it was beautiful. Stadium is nice, employees were friendly, and it was free range on the seating. Everyone congregated to the area in the shade. I love the big screen, field looked great, team looks great! Hoping the players injured are back up and running soon, looking forward to the season!! Only downside...only certain restrooms were open but they didn't have them marked...so you didn't know until you tried to push on them and they were locked. Oh...and the annoying hyena sitting behind us that wouldn't shut up during the ENTIRE camp. read more

This is the best place to watch the Huskies lose. The views from the stadium are amazing. From the upper deck they are literally some of the most beautiful views from a stadium I have ever seen. And if you're even luckier, people with way better seats will decide they don't want to go since they Huskies are so bad...and they will give you their tickets! You've got to go early and tailgate - it is definitely the best. This is the place to be on a beautiful fall day. It's just perfect. *** Side note: DO NOT ORDER FROM STARBUCKS! The Starbucks in Husky Stadium has the worst setup and worst drinks in the entire world. You stand in a freaking long line, then you finally order your drink and then you stand in an even longer freaking line to get your drink. When you finally receive it and are eagerly awaiting that first sip of hot chocolate that will send warmth from your head to your toes....you discover the stupid thing is LUKEWARM and tastes like pure milk. Where the hell is all the chocolate? Oh wait, I figured it out - ALL THE CHOCOLATE IS AT THE VERY BOTTOM BECAUSE THEY DON'T MIX THE DRINK. The last few sips tasted so disgusting I thought I might be sick. I ended up tossing the pure chocolate leftovers. Been to many sporting events in my short life and one of the best experiences I've had was at Husky Stadium. Looks pretty big from the outside but when you get in its very easy to find your way around. The staff is very helpful and pointing you into the direction that you need to go, and they also have huge sings... so if you can't find your way around then you must have gone to OU. The food is typical stadium food with typical stadium food prices. But all that is a moo point cause who honestly expects great food for great prices at a sporting event. The stadium is pretty and old and in need of some major upgrades but I think that adds to the experience. When the Dawgs are on defense and the crowd is into it, you can feel the whole stadium shaking thanks to he bleacher seating in the stadium. To add more to the Husky experience the south end zone has been re-done and they now have a beer garden, food vendors, and activities that everyone from all ages can enjoy. If you ever plan to attend a Husky sporting event I would say a football game at Husky stadium is the way to go.... GO DAWGS!! read more

I'm biased. Yeah whatever. The stadium is great. The upper decks can induce vertigo in even the most stable of people, but the views available are great. There's nothing like watching football with a backdrop of Lake Washington and Mt. Rainier. While the team and the fan base have been iffy these past few seasons, the stadium itself has always pleased. There also a ton of pregame activities for all. There's the walk, tailgating, the Husky Huddle, the alumni band and so on. Husky Stadium is a dynamic stadium that is always great to visit. read more

It is possible that during my four years of undergrad classwork at the UW, I spent more time at Husky Stadium than I did in all of the other classrooms I went through combined. But then, I was in the marching band and that's probably why. That's also probably why I love Husky Stadium and why I will always be a Husky. You can tailgate on boats. You can see the mountains (and 520) from some seats. The place shakes when it gets really noisy - though I'm not sure how safe that is. I've seen the bad (last year) and I've seen the great. We have clam chowder in bread bowls and we have Captain Husky. We have a helmet car that's actually sizeable enough to be a helmet CAR (as opposed to a large helmet on the back of a car) and we're one of the lucky Pac-10 schools with a real life mascot. I'll always bleed purple and gold and I'll always hum the alma mater to myself when I see the stadium. Go Dawgs! read more

First off, the new stadium is visually stunning! Beautiful east end zone, new South stands, new field all make for an exciting change from the old! That said, there are a ton of people in the North stands 300 level that are NOT happy! First off they didn't change anything in our seating area. That was expected but still disappointing. What's worse, very minimal changes to any other amenities in our section. The bathrooms were the biggest issue as I heard for months how nice and big the new ones were. Well those must have been in other sections because we still had a 50 foot long pee trough to use, had one working sink that was FILTHY and had no working air flow system in it! Was like a huge piss smelling hot sauna! In addition the lighting in the concourse is non existent. Is extremely dark and is unsafe for children! The NEW concessions had new food but lacked any ice for drinks and the soda was in bottles were warm. Also the lines were HUGE all game! The university is selling the renovation as bringing the stadium up to date but is only showing the media to the renovated additions! The north end is sitting in 1985 but at least we get to look across the field and see how the other half lives! But hey, at least our ticket prices went up so we could pay for their new game day experience! read more

Husky Stadium. It's a dump. But its OUR dump. I have great memories of Husky Stadium, If you really want to do Husky Stadium right you have to catch a football game there. Hit up one of the many tailgates, where fans are really generous with their food and their tall tales of Husky football lore. If you are not into the tailgate type, take the Chinook party boat from Chinooks at fisherman's terminal. You can get a 20$ ticket, which covers a ride to and from, as well as a drink ticket!. Anyways more about the stadium. The bathrooms are really dumpy, they have one of those giant long 'troughs' where everyone just pees into. (the drool might be from an excess consumption of alcohol in the E1 parking lot just north of husky stadium though). Pretty nice place! Definitely a major upgrade. I used to volunteer for concessions so seeing the new stands makes me want to volunteer again. I came during the ridiculous storm, however, so I'm sure my review could earn an extra star the next time I attend. The floors are extremely slippery when wet. I was wearing rainboots and definitely had to catch myself a few times. Workers were feebly trying to sweep the excess water into the drains as it wasn't draining fast enough and people were sloshing through. Something I found funny was the student only concession stand. They kept yelling out to all the passersby to come buy from them but, hello, we can't since we're not students.... Maybe they should aim their calls to only young ones passing by... :P I would like to see how this stadium is during a nice, sunny, crisp Autumn day! read more

This place gets LOUD! Husky fans mean business when they come to Husky Stadium to cheer for the Dawgs. As college football stadiums go (and I have been to many of them across the country), this place gets bonus points for the gorgeous views of the Lake Washington and the Cascade Mountains. And though Husky Stadium has long been in desperate need of renovation (and upgraded dining options, quite frankly), major renovations begin at the conclusion of this season and will be completed for the start of the 2013 season. One thing is certain: Dawg fans will return in 2013 louder and prouder than ever! Thought bad day for a football but home game, got tickets from my friends ( THANKS Shinee and Una ) after all this is Arizona State Sun Devils we will defined prevail but we LOST 10 - 24. First time at the remodeled/reconstructed Husky Stadium, not overly impressed but for college team stadium it is good, clean. Seats were not bad at all. Would prefer better food choices that is unique to Husky nation not just a Trophy cupcake special named same tasting cupcake, not foot long hotdog! Hot chocolate on rainy/stormy day was good :) Marching band was OK on the field and again with all the wind and rain it may not do justice to give them just OK cause heard them close to the stands after half time while picking up some cupcakes and they sounded awesome. I've never been to a stadium with a better view- Mt. Rainier and Lake Washington from my seat! We were covered, which was a blessing for my delicate Seattle skin on this lovely, sunny Seattle day. The bathrooms were clean and line-free (a huge bonus after a fee beers)! The Zone offered lots of standing room, both covered and in the sun and the lines to grab a beverage were quick and efficiently managed by friendly servers. The husky fans were also nice to be around, even though we were cheering for the opposing team. read more

Great game setting - HORRIBLE game day experience. Husky Stadium is one of the greatest settings in college football - that is indisputable. Unfortunately Husky Stadium has the WORST stadium infrastructure and flow, HORRIBLE concessions, and possibly the most ABYSMAL service in college football. This really tarnishes Husky Football and makes the game day experience less than 1 star. It's really an embarrassment when you compare Husky Stadium to Safeco or Century Link. Before or after games, do not expect an easy entrance or exit. Wright Runstad, the contractor of the stadium remodel, completed it in 2013 at a cost of ~ $250 Million. They designed/built the passages so narrowly that it gets way too congested and should be considered dangerous for fans. It seems like a contractor designed the stadium rather than an architect. Fans should plan to shuffle inch by inch within a sea of people where it can take 10 - 15 minutes just to navigate 100 yards - I timed it. They can't fix the poorly designed remodel, but Husky Stadium could have facilities staff present to direct people flow, paint directional lanes, or something to help with people flow. Upon entry to the stadium, the ticket scanners are fast but if they encounter a problem with someone's ticket, which happens all the time, the scanner will stop look around for assistance from a supervisor to help the people. Guess what? No supervisor is ever present. Flow stops. Line backs up. Sardined fans trying to make kickoff get grumpy. Add 10 - 15 minutes of no directional line lanes, jostling fans, and start / stop / no flow activity and you start your experience negatively. Eventually people get so upset that the poor ticket scanner just let's the folks with the bad ticket in. What else can they do? The lack of line management is horribly insensitive to your fans and those employees that have to deal with the poor flow design and planning. It seems that Jennifer Cohen, Husky Athletic Director, and her staff don't want Husky fans to have a great game day experience either. They made the decision to restrict access to the Zone and managed to lose E3 as the Zone's lead concessionaire. The new concessions in the Zone are extremely poor and expensive. Ms. Cohen, here's some basic logic you and your team may want to consider: poor quality + high price = very low fan enjoyment and satisfaction. Adding insult to injury, Husky Athletics decided we fans get the privilege of paying $33 just to get in the Zone now to experience a s*#t show. Wow! They also cut back on in-stadium concessions to the point where your selection of food is circa 1985 and is not edible - I dare anyone to try a $7 hot dog there and feel good about it. Husky Athletics doesn't seem to realize that those concessionaires affect the Husky brand and fan experience. Set some GD standards for them for goodness sake before you award a contract. Take a tour of Century Link or Safeco, it can be done. The days of 7-11 hot dogs, fake nachos, peanuts, and candy are over. There are a few spots where you can find a decent bratwurst, but to my knowledge there is only one cart on the whole north side of the 100 level. You can imagine how long that line is which makes it impractical to go there especially if you're near section 131. I'm a Husky alum, an active Tyee member, and I've been a season ticket holder since '89. I am a hardcore fan. The type of fan who went to every game during that horrible 0-12 season under Willingham and stayed until the end for every game. I'm writing this to warn all other fans, BRING YOUR OWN FOOD. You are allowed to do this, just read the rules. BRING YOUR OWN DRINK. It is illegal to bring alcohol but you can bring your own thermos, water etc. Check the rules before hand though. Most upsetting to me is it seems like Jennifer Cohen and team are flipping all of us hardcore fans the finger. We can't easily get a beer or glass of wine (for a progressive city there certainly are a ton of puritans out there), there's no good option for food, and you're going to suffer getting in, out, and around the stadium. Oh, and you get the privilege of paying thousands of dollars for it too. That is what I call a UW Athletics middle finger to us fans. It's making me rethink my season tickets for next year. Few stadiums have a more picturesque backdrop than this one. Parking can be a trek but the campus is also beautiful to walk through if you must. Don't get me wrong, I love Husky Stadium. It's been the home to many a great game (losing can be fun too) over my college years, as well as random activities that happen in the stadium. There's nothing like the feel of dozens of tiers of fans screaming at the top of their lungs. Unfortunately, you keep thinking whether those fans will end up toppling the stadium one day. Husky Stadium has been around, and you can tell. It reminds me of the old Kingdome in a way, right down to the spiral ramps that lead to the top of one side of the stadium. The bathrooms are outdated and inadequate, the benches are definitely outdated. I've been to many colleges, and Husky Stadium may well be the worst I have ever seen. Unfortunately, due to the budget crunch, and especially with the money pouring into Washington roadwork, the endowment may not be there to replace the stadium within the next half decade. The stadium is most definitely fun due to the games there, but don't expect great installations. read more

It felt good to be back at the new Husky Stadium with all the other Dawg fans! I didn't get to try and see everything, but due in time. The seats are now with more leg room which is nice for taller people. The views are still one of the best in the country, with the water and mountains around us. I got into the stadium without a problem and also got out without a problem. Which I might add getting back on the freeway from there normally takes awhile. We got lucky and headed north for a bit where less traffic is to cut over to 99. I will try the food next game I'm there and report back. read more
