Specialty donut shop: Branson MO When we purchased our show tickets at the Branson 2 for 1 Tickets not only did we save some $$ but we also scored coupons for free donuts at Hurts. After the show we took our time and made our way to this donut shop. Located next door to the American Bandstand Theater. We were the only customers at the time. We presented our coupons for a free classic donut along with our show tickets and claimed our free donuts. The selection reminded me a little of Voodoo Donuts in Portland. The donuts were very well crafted and some had fun names. The employee said we could choose from the specialty donuts so we chose the following: Dirt, Oreo Cheesecake (the cream cheese icing really made it), and Jesus. My Jesus donut was heavenly! It is a white cake donut topped with vanilla frosting, cinnamon & sugar then drizzled with caramel. Open 25 hours a day, 8 days a week (get it? they never close) and was featured in Food network magazine. Looks like "Elvis" from the Legends in Concert loves their donuts too... he came in right behind us and we even snapped a photo with him (w/o the Elvis get-up). When you walk in the shop it just downright looks Fun like childhood. Your hit with the delicious sweet Aroma and immediately greeted. Since residing in the area I've never had short of fantastic service and the creativity that is put into the donuts are just magical. So if you want basic donuts this is not your place although the plain glazed is Outstanding. They remind me of Krispy Kreme glazed X3! I never realized that they also make shakes from Any donut you choose. I chose the Banana cream filled and I Absolutely fell in love. I truly enjoyed our trip to Branson. My biggest struggle was interpreting reviews 5 stars should mean universally great and 1 star universal avoidance with 3 stars meaning - take your chances. This place is awesome. The donuts are great, excellent texture, moisture, density and flavor. We stopped by at about 10pm on a Monday Night. It was quiet and empty. The owner was working and was extremely personable. We almost passed on this gem because someone downgraded the place on the low par level of a glazed donut. Ridiculous. If you are travelling and want a truly exceptional donut - Hurts is your answer. The fancy fills and flavors are bells and whistles, the marvel for me is the consistent texture across all their choices. The yeast and the cake donuts are equally great with a slight preference by me to the cake donuts. The pumpkin spice was fun but the blueberry felt just like a just out of the oven fluffy homemade muffin. I had my own coffee so I can only say that along with a great cup of dark roast, it is heavenly. The glazed was just as good. Tender, buttery, that for me lacked just a smidge of salt to make the flavor shine. I definitely will return. I wasted calories at Grandma Ruth's tasteless rolls with powder sugar frosting - waste of time, money and calorie intake. Go to Hurts twice and save yourself the regret and aggravation. read more

What a fun spot this is! We stopped in because we got coupons for free donuts after purchasing tickets to the Legends show. They have a wide variety of fun flavors- definitely not your basic donut shop. I had the Banana Pudding donut, which was delicious and big. I couldn't finish it but enjoyed every bite I did eat. The line was super long but moved at a fair pace. They have a wide selection of coffee from drip to lattes, and then some milkshake goodness going on, too. Fun spot with friendly staff. This place was raved about and over hyped so I had to stop here to try. Unfortunately everything tasted old and stale. Not a single fresh donut. Very disappointed. I had the pink lemonade donut which sounds great, I love pink lemonade but it was not good at all lol. I had two bites and pretty sure it was like a $4 donut. Not good. My boyfriend had the fruity pebbles donut shake (pictured) which is a whole donut blended into a shake plus a whole donut on top. This is a fun and unique donut shop where donuts are treated like fancy cupcakes and priced like them, too! For $2.50 each you can enjoy flavors like Little Timmy (frosted animal cracker themed), the Homer (pink icing with rainbow sprinkles- just like Homer Simpson enjoys!), Blueberry Cobbler (moist blueberry donut with a thick glaze topped with slightly salty crumble), Peanut Butter Oreo (peanut butter flavored donut, sweet white cream icing topped with crushed Oreos), Vanilla Birthday Cake (vanilla cake donut without much sweetness topped with a sweet buttercream frosting and sprinkles) just to name a few! They seem to sell out of their giant cinnamon buns and apple fritters but whenever we arrived (early in the day or late at night) they always had their typical selection available. The price for these is high at $2.50 each but they are not mass produced donuts with a light glaze. These are gourmet donuts with lots of fun flavors and toppings. If you've ever tried Voodoo donuts, this place is 100x's better! I'm not really sure how they do it, but I got one of their Fruity Pebble donuts and the cereal was still CRUNCHY and stayed crunchy even the next day! I was thoroughly surprised. This is the second Hurts I've been to, the first being in Lincoln, NE, and this one was very roomy compared to the other. We showed up around 9am and the place was packed with a large selection to choose from at that late in the day on a Sunday. They even have a swing bench / bar in the back for the young ones, which I found to be a great touch! My oldest son wanted a cinnamon roll and when I saw that it was $7 I didn't know what to expect, but assumed it would be big. It was much larger than I expected! Lol So we split it, and it was a good roll. Warm and soft on the inside with a sweet glaze. My youngest son wanted the strawberry topped donut, and he seemed pleased, which isn't easy to accomplish! They had a gigantic Apple fritter as well...I wanted it, but way too big since I also had to tackle half of the cinnamon roll and drive six hours. I tend to take my coffee very seriously, and I usually wouldn't order from a donut shop, but we had a long drive back to Nebraska coming up and it was a necessity. It was not good.
